    Character Bios

Any character I consider a "keeper" has a bio, and if I have a decent idea for one, I write it as part of character creation. However, I don't care if anyone else reads the character's background, because I wrote it for my own enjoyment.
  2. Try changing the post title to something like "P.v.P.E.C. now with bacon!" and the hits will rain from the sky.

They also don't have cell phone service worth a darn, or at least the roaming charges are so steep that Faathead the Kind keeps you running back for more.
  4. Thanks for the replies.

Nihilii: That's about what I had expected. The activation times on Burn and the rest of the Sweep combo will allow some enemies to escape. I was looking through the rose-colored glasses of my DB/Nin stalker who could Sweep/Caltrops/1K Cuts for sadistic glee. It wouldn't be an every-fight strategy, but if a teammate impeded the enemies' movement somehow, bad guy stir-fry might still be fun.

Swift Frost: Glad I gave you a chuckle
  5. Hello all,
I'm thinking about rolling up a DB/FA scrapper because the idea of keeping Blazing Aura buffed with Blinding Feint looks intriguing. However, I'd like to hear back from anyone who's tried leveraging Burn with the Sweep combo. Here are my thoughts: launch 1K cuts to knock down targets, activate Burn (won't break combo because it's not another DB power), enemies are on fire while on the ground, finish Sweep combo to knock them down again for more toasting.

    Thanks!

Actually, maybe I just want to try that combination and yell, "They're done on this side - flip 'em over!"
  6. Ares, this is a good guide and just the sort of "for dummies" advice that I appreciate seeing for any aspect of the game, be it PvP, marketing, base design or whatever.

Unfortunately, I feel that if PvP in CoX essentially requires learning a completely different game, I would just buy a completely different game with better built-in PvP.

    Good luck!
  7. Well, I guess I'm a minimalist, then. Plus, I like keeping the screen clear. And yes, I have played the ATs you listed, but I was able to keep everything I felt I needed to monitor on one tray. Most of my binds are on the number pad, and I mean all of the number pad, including add, multiply, divide, etc.

It's a matter of taste, but I've found that there are always certain long-recharging powers, such as Liquefy or a Dull Pain clone, that don't merit a tray slot for me. I'll try the bind for them if the situation warrants, but if the power isn't recharged yet, oh well.

I'm in the same boat. I have never had any click powers that I consider useful that wouldn't fit on one tray. Toggles and travel powers get keybinds, although I tend to follow a system for the binds.

This may well be the main reason I've never felt inclined to play a Kheldian.
  9. In my opinion, there's fault on both of you and a lot of unknown information. We have no idea of the existing team's circumstances (supergroup only or already full, for example) or how often the respondent had been receiving these "reverse invites." The team member's response was rude, and you should have let the issue drop instead of retaliating.

An update to the team search window to indicate team leaders and show teams looking for more would be a big help. Overall, I doubt this situation is going to have any serious effect, and you'll probably never run into the offender again.
  10. GuyPerfect: Just a suggestion, but if you're shaking down the Rikti for recipes and drops and not XP, you may want to consider running at -1/8. You'll mow through them a lot faster and as long as they're at least level 47, they can drop purple recipes.
  11. The TF runs were a success, but with all the nuts and bolts flying around, we got screwed. Babbage didn't spawn for either team, but many thanks to the organizers and all those who showed up. Good times!

Reichsman is still Marcus Cole, an American, so English is probably his primary language. It would be funny if he ever shows up in another arc to see another Axis-themed villain griping about Reichsman's Yankee accent but being too scared to mention it to his face.

Oh, and Sam, if you're looking for a genuinely threatening, taciturn enemy faction, I recommend the Malta Group, because you love them so much already.

I don't have a problem with talkative NPCs of any faction. This is a comic book inspired game, and heroes and villains in the comics blab their heads off, even in the direst situations. I read a story once about a comic book character getting transported to our world, and he theorized that in "comic land" the speed of light was slower, but the speed of sound was much faster. That way, you could talk and dodge lasers at the same time.
  13. I'm in with Mighty Glacier, L18 Shield/Ice tanker. Sorry for the late notice.
  14. Maybe the "falling" emote may work then, arms and legs flailing without the effected targets actually moving.

Trapped for your hideous pleasures a go-go.
  15. Yes, the Rikti can speak, and Fusionette has a bit of dialogue (delivered in Valley Girl speak, fer shure) about one of the Rikti using his new voice translator to hit on her during one of the RWZ missions.

By the way, Sam, what do you think about phonetic accents or funetik aksents as the case may be?
  16. These are good ideas, and the only suggestion I'd add would be to somehow make the "shifted" effect more visible to teammates. Right now, Gravity is the "they all float" set, so how about having dimension-shifted enemies do the twirl in space animation similar to Ghost Widow's Soul Storm?

The only reason I like Dimension Shift now is that it's a power I can skip guilt-free.

Electrical Melee has a chance for -recovery in most of its attacks. Count me in for adding a chance for knockdown to more MA attacks as well, though.

    To Samuel Tow:

You, sir, have dredged up some rather unpleasant Challenge of the Super Friends memories, complete with the awful token "foreign" characters, such as El Dorado and Samurai.

    Jerk.

How about posting it in the Player Events forum?
  21. Major kudos to you, Pum. This is the kind of event that helps build a server community.

    Ninja Run

I saw a toon with the huge body type using Ninja Run. It looked like he was huffing his armpit.

Personally, I'm in the "looks silly for non-ninja-themed characters, especially those with guns" camp, but it's your $10.
  23. Unenhanced, Cobra Strike's stun duration at level 50 is just about 12 seconds, and it recharges in 20. So, fully enhanced for stun duration and no recharge, you'd be able to stack it for less than 4 seconds on a single target at level 50. With some recharge slotting, you could get it to self-stack for extremely short periods around the mid 20s. Best to stack it with a stun from another attack, as already mentioned.
  24. The stun from Thunder Kick is only a 10% chance, although it's a quick, spammable attack.

I wouldn't mind seeing Cobra Strike getting the Clobber treatment, but I think it would have to be adjusted similarly and moved later into the set, swapped with Crippling Axe Kick, maybe.

My beef with Cobra Strike is that it comes at a time when other Scrapper sets already have access to three damaging attacks with fast to moderate recharge times. At 20 seconds, Cobra Strike is tied with Fire Sword Circle for the slowest recharge of any attack or control power in Scrapper primaries. For the purposes of that comparison, I was not counting Build Up clones, Dark Consumption or Soul Drain, which I consider self-buff powers.

So, I sort of agree with the OP. I'd like to see Cobra Strike's damage increased AND have it moved later into the set OR have it left as is but have it moved later in the set to be exchanged with another damaging attack. However, I definitely do not think CS should be able to one-shot stun bosses.
  25. One more thing - in my limited experience Chrome/JU is a bit better for getting teams, TFs or other activities organized, but JFA is better for socializing. Just an observation.
