I got the impresion that they're in Boomtown. There aren't any Hellions in Boomtown, but there are plenty of Clocks and Outcasts...
[/ QUOTE ]
My guess was Kings Row instead. The bottom panel looks a lot like Paladin had spawned based on the size of that clockwork pictured. Of course it might also be a new villian we haven't seen yet. May be babbage, but doesn't babbage have a big gear as a shoulder?
I'm more surprised someone hadn't picked up the bottom left panel's bubble...

Hellions? Those are Outcasts..
That said, though....Whoa.

Too bad it wasn't Skulls, to let them take revenge for all the "Go Hunt, Kill Skuls" at their expense.

If you are going to encourage missions that much you really need to look at a complete revamp of some of the hazard zones like Faultline/Boomtown.

Instead of 1/2 for each one, I'd make it a percentage based on the number of on a team. Like (normal value of debt)/(number of players on a team). Would certainly increase teaming. -

Before getting to archetypes a few words on travel powers. Actually a few words on the only lazy travel power: flight. Set your destination, hit R, and relax for 5 minutes while flying halfway across Atlas Park. Really, there is no other choice for the lazy player.
[/ QUOTE ]
You missed the ultimate in lazy travel. Whatever power you pick has no bearing. Just find a team with someone that has recall friend, and constantly ask for a tp. Doesn't matter if you're level 14 or level 50. Don't move from the tram to that mission door maybe 200 yards away. Ask for a tp. Never move your own lazy butt across a zone. Expect the poor sod who picked 'recall friend' to do it for you. -

GDC - kinda. I'll be there for a panel talk, but that's about it.

So what kind of paneling does States recommend for a rec room? -

Check out his only other post (at this time). An admitted power leveller complaining about a lack of content at level 50. Whaaaaaaaa. -

Fly is a nice safe cuddly travel power, but it's also dull. I respec'd mine out and changed to teleport. Now that can be a nightmare to use, but boy, it's fun. It makes travelling to places a thrill as it gives you something to do whilst travelling.
With fly I just went up high and hit auto run. Safe. Easy. Dull
[/ QUOTE ]
Actually I did the opposite with my D3. TP was more of a pain in the long run, and unless you take Hover, the laggy moments (or moment of indecision) can send you crashing to earth inbetween TP activations. While TP fit the concept better, it's actual use wasn't that great in the game.
Each travel power has it's own pluses and minuses with it. Sure SJ gives you verticle too, but unlike fly, you come back down. SS may have the stealth advantage, but is challenged for anything beyond horizontal travel. TP has the freedom of flight, but costs more END and unless you pick Hover, you're coming back to earth. I can't tell you how many times I had to hear how 'uber' SS was from an SG-mate of mine, but who was also asking for tp's to mission points.
All in all, it only matters what travel power you want/like. Each has it's own role. And just wait until the Shard to see how 'uber' SS is. -

The process for i3 boggles me almost as much as you guys' release of i2. Maybe by i7 we can expect smooth, disciplined, and thought out releases.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well, I can't speak for everyone, but I know I can sleep easier at night knowing that Harker, the perfect coder, will be submitting their resume to NCSoft and will be taking over the releases of CoH from now on. -
[ QUOTE ]
Did no one else notice that?!
[/ QUOTE ]
Maybe because the majority of the players are playing the game and having fun instead of notice petty things to complain about? -
[ QUOTE ]
This is simply a case of the devs trying to slow people down to save subscriptions. Period. This isn't "game balance", otherwise this would have been done MONTHS ago.
[/ QUOTE ]
I suppose the fact that the mobs have been far more easier then what the original rulebook defines the color codes for con's as, has nothing to do with it?
Get out the tin foil hats, Martha, we've got another conspiracy. -

As opposed to looking like a 4 year old having a temper tantrum in the super market because mommy won't get you the candy bar you want so badly? Besides, the Doooom, doooom posts are about as constructive as your "Whaaaaa, Statesman doesn't care about us" posts. -

.Statesman doesn't care. He was determined to make these changes regardless of how it affected the casual or solo players.

Dooooooooom! Doooooooooom! -
I agree, a big round of applause for States and the Dev crew for having to put up with so much flak and abuse on the boards, and how well they handle it. They keep a great game running, continually adding FREE updated content, and have to deal with those that want to act like three year olds having a tantrum in the supermarket over a candy bar.
CoH is still a great game, I love most everything in Issue 3, and is one of the few games that has kept my interest beyond a few months. Hats off to States & Co for putting together an awesome online game. -
Thank you for the clarification States. While some of those will decree the game 'unplayable' with threats of 'I quit', please keep in mind there are many of us who do appreciate what you and your team is doing and find CoH a very entertaining game to play.
-
I'd go for "Fix it the way I want it or I quit!"

When I checked the boards this morning, I knew what college team Statesman had been cheering for. I didn't know the status of the changes that will probably make this game completely unfun for me.
[/ QUOTE ]
Wait a sec... I thought it was Issue 2 that was completely unfun for you and that you were going to quit. Now it's Issue 3? If Vegas is setting up odds, I'll take them on that you'll still be here for Issue 4, and still complaining. -
Shrug. I soloed missions with +1 Nemsis and +1 Rik with my defender yesterday. Tough yes, impossible no, and no deaths. It just took time to devise the right tactics for each type of baddie, for best effect.
You get 3 open slots for missions, you yes you can choose. Think one mission is too tough at the moment? Keep it until after you level and try again. No one says you _have_ to do every single mission the moment you get it. -
An interesting idea, but I'd have to disagree with it due to one point. If we started making the same color con's having different strengths, it could be a problem and a lot of complaints. If a white conned freakshow smasher (for example) has a certain lvl of hp's in a mission, then it should be the same on the street, not more.
-
With missions I'd like to see if it is being solo'd, that consideration be given of the class type when generating mobs. Instead of a defender getting the same mobs that a scrapper would be getting, perhaps lessen the number or rank of the mobs for the support classes. Or at least to whatever level the data mining would support.
-
While there would be some changes to adjust to with such a change, I don't think it will be as negative as implied. My primary is a scrapper, but I've been playing more and more of my defender alt lately. One thing I've noticed is that with my defender, I have to be much more selective with my mobs. Can I solo the same mob make-ups and levels as my scrapper? Hardly. However, if I adjust to the next con level down, I can solo quite fine. Sure the xp isn't the same, and it takes a bit longer, but I can solo quite easily.
I also find that with the defender, the mob cons are more in line with what the rulebook indicates they should be for toughness. 3 white cons, my scrapper would go through them like a hot knife through butter. With my defender, it's a hard fight. If the hps increase (along with xp) then it will simply be a matter of adjust to it. If the whtie cons are too tough, then start hitting the blues instead. Or smaller groups of white cons. With missions, the -1 lvl for soloing was extremely easy for my scrapper. For my defender it's just right.
The point is, you _can_ solo with any class in the game. Providing you can adapt or adjust to the circumstances. The problem is, many expect to be able to have a Defender or Controller solo at the same level cons as a scrapper or tanker. Apples and oranges, in my book. -

To be fair, the book is ALWAYS better than the movie. Seriously, has there ever been a movie based on a book that turned out BETTER than the book? I can't think of one and I'm a movie and book junkie.

IMO, Blade Runner knocks the socks off "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep". I read the book first and was deeply disappointed.
I've seen plenty of films that were neck and neck with the book... (The Dead Zone springs instantly to mind)
