Frankly, people have been getting away with far too much for far too long. Yeah, sometimes a thread catches a lock and shouldn't have, but more often than not in the past, threads were allowed to live when they should have been put out of their misery.
The mods have been more lock-happy recently than in the past, but they really should have been from the start, and not gotten people into the habit of useless rants.

I also think it only served to add more fuel to the fire, so to speak. If a handful can do that sort of thing, and apparently get away with it, it only serves to encourage more to do it. -

Let's face it, I break any number of forum rules every day, mostly those about staying on topic. >.< Mew is silly and lives off coffee, whatcha expect? =~.o=

That maybe the forum rules would apply to you too?

I'd say not enough if you can admit to doing it, and it still is allowed to happen. And, not just you, but you just happened to be the one to post. Personally, I find the idiotic spam just as annoying as "OMG TEH GAME SUX" posts. And, just like opening a thread about how WoW is off topic and would get mod-smacked, I think the stupid posts should get the same treatment.
You might think it's "cute". I think it's annoying and detrimental to the threads it's done in. -

I'd disagree a bit to go the other extreme. Personally, I don't see enough going on. Or, rather too much of one side getting the 'thread trim' while other things just get ignored. Using your example, calling someone a 'butthead' gets a thread locked or trimmed. That really doesn't bother me too much, as it is NCSoft's message forum, and thus their rules. However, on the other side of the coin, there are some users who just spam threads with the same stupid, mindless, drivel, and they're pretty much left alone. They treat decent threads as 'Forum Games' and are allowed to degenerate threads into nothingness.
Personally, I'd like to see the patented Lighthouse Thread Weedwacker get taken to more of the latter. -
I stumbled across this and thought it might be worth sharing. More videos of him are on the 'related' side. An interesting medium, and very interesting technique that had some pretty nice results, IMOHO.

A really neat idea for the lighting, with the 'creepy crawlies' hovering at the edge of the light.

Great stuff, especially Gill spray painting the wall. But no evil Sparky? Awwww.

Heh. I try to throw in a thanks, a comment here and there without seeming spammy - but stay limited with my comments unless something seems really wonky enough that even I can see it ("Wait, shouldn't her back leg be... you know... in back?")
Of course, if it's *that* off, someone else has probably seen and commented, too.

I'm a bit of the same way. I lot of lurking and admiring of the works on my part. But I try to avoid the 'me too' comments if a piece has been posted and already has a ton of comments on it by time I see it. As for comments, I pretty much shut up in that area, as I have pretty much next to no artistic skills. Or, at least a very untrained eye. -
I was quite happy with the piece and the work Graver put into it. As other's have mentioned, things like the look of the leather and the reflections were things I really liked. The other thing I really liked was the window behind Ghost Widow's head, overlooking Mercy Isle. That was something Graver thought up, and I really liked that idea.
But, most importantly to me, in addition to the outstanding work done, it also really captured the mood I was looking for with the piece.
I was extremely happy with the piece, and like it a lot. -

Usually, it is the foreigners who write coherrent sentances, and lazy americans use the "LOL HI2U! HOW R U?????////"
although, my spelling do tend to suck.... badly, i get easily confused

Unfortunately, it also tends to be a 'trend' of a handful of forum posters, who think they're "cute" doing that sort of thing over and over again. While they seem to stick in certain area's, but I've also seen a few bring that sort of behavior here. -

N00b question here: Graver, do you take commisions, or what? I never saw a thread for your que, so...

Very very nice. Brandon continues to do great stuff. And Sabers....... It took you this long to fingure out he did this. 8)

Well, like I said, I only really started lurking lately. I had seen some works of his in the past, but never knew that he would take open commissions until I saw some of the postings here. I had always thought it was something done for friends, etc. I just never realized/thought a published artist would be open to something like that. -

Can you vague that up a bit? They are both Ivy.

Brandon rocks. So who won?

Ivy, until Hami ganked her. -
Here's a piece I thought I'd share, as I was really happy with how it came out. I had commissioned Brandon McKinney to do this one of Countess Ivy versus Poison Ivy. The battle to see who gets to be the one, true 'Ivy'.
It was the first piece I had done by Brandon, and was extremely happy with how it came out. I had always liked Brandon's style from the original CoH comic, but never knew he actually did commission work until recently.
Countess Ivy versus Poison Ivy -
I like the first pass of the pencils, and like how it's turning out so far. Sure, I'm pretty much a non-talent when it comes to creating art, but I do know what I like. (which is why I pretty much just lurk here) And for what I was looking for with this piece, Graver's has hit it spot-on.
The idea I gave Graver was that I was looking for something to portray Countess Ivy and Ghost Widow, in something of a subserviant fashion. In her backstory, Countess Ivy doesn't really recognize Lord Recluse as being in charge, but rather recognizes that Ghost Widow is the true representation of Arachnos, and serves her with great loyalty. The latter due to other parts of her backstory as well.
As for her holding a heart/head/meat, I had asked Graver to try to bring out Countess Ivy's more 'evil' side. Pure, cold, calculating, evil, as well as showing some of her brutatilty. I never conceived Countess Ivy as a 'soft' villain, or one that is a 'tee-hee' sexy one. She's just as ruthless as any of the Night or Blood Widows, or even Ghost Widow herself. True, she's doesn't follow the whole 'assassin's guild' line like the Widow's do, but she considers herself a tool in Ghost Widow's array of weapons, and does as Ghost Widow commands. If it boiled down to doing what Lord Recluse or Ghost Widow told her, she'd do what Ghost Widow commanded.
*note, which is why I really didn't like the whole betrayal storyarc in the patron powers*
Either way, I'm quite happy with what Graver has done with the piece so far, and am really looking forward to the additional work. -
I wouldn't mind seeing a change in the policy about artists who charge commissions for their work, and being able to say so. Maybe an 'official' link or something where they could advertise or be listed? There's a lot of great talent, and can be a bit hard to find sometimes within the CoH/CoV forum itself.

Given the season, it just needs the Monster Mash playing in the background.
