If you have problems with the graphics driver crashing whilst playing CoH (or other graphics intensive programs) then you should start with this thread: http://uk.boards.cityofheroes.com/sh...Number=1298903
-
There's been posts in a separate thread, and I thought in this one as well... Appears not (although there were several from Avatea at the time the problems occurred).
Anyway, to paraphrase what was said in one of the other threads on this:
The support team has received a lot of tickets on this issue. Because the issue relates to financial reimbursement all these tickets need to be escalated to more senior staff. The volume of tickets received (including, it must be noted, a significant number of duplicate tickets that have only slowed down the process) combined with the necessity to escalate them has resulted in it taking longer than normal to process through the queue.
It hasn't helped that this has coincided with the bug that has caused some bases to become corrupt. Restoring corrupt bases is likewise an issue that requires escalation and investigation time. -

Switch cards used to have an issue number and an end date.
Maestro cards have a start date and an end date.

My Maestro has issue # and end date, but no start date. I think it depends on your bank more than anything else. -

because now that Avatea is in the US as well, she's not getting up at 4AM just to post on our forums. I don't mean to be cynical, and you're doing an absolutely fantastic job Avatea but I knew this would happen due to the time differences. We just have to lump it, but if the US servers were taken down at 3pm for maintenance there'd be screams of blue murder on the US forums!

GhostRaptor is still in the UK offices, and still working for NC. There's no excuse for no news.

Unfortunately I wasn't in the office on Friday and therefore wasn't available to post any updates. There were a sequence of once-off events that occurred and unfortunately because they all happened within the same 24 hour time period we weren't able to post any updates.
We do, however, agree that this was not a good thing, and we're currently working on a new procedure to be followed should anything similar occur in future. This new procedure should prevent a complete lack of information from happening again. -

Such as not recognizing that there's Maestro cards starting in 2009, meaning I can't get the booster pack nor can I update my sub at the end of the month.

This is a known issue and should be resolved in the near future. -

That said I do agree that it would help the games survivability considerably if they upgrade the graphics somehow. I have seen nothing to indicate that this is not in their plans already.

It wasn't so long ago that it was confirmed the Paragon team are looking at possible graphical improvements. -
Unfortunately I'm going to have to close this thread, as the forum is for CoH discussion only and this is rather off-topic. I'll leave the thread viewable though, so if anyone wants to send advice via a PM they can.

Everyone can please cease with the ad hominem arguments. This is a discussion forum with very clear rules on what sort of arguments are allowed and what aren't. Please leave the personal comments at home and stick to discussing the topic.

Im sure it is when your charging players two or three times for one addon pack :P

Errors like this one actually end up costing us money, once the refunds are issued. -
Support will be working through their ticket queues in the order they are received and resolving them as fast as possible. In situations like this one there can be a lengthy backlog generated in a relatively short time, plus resolving the issue requires escalation to a higher tech support queue. Unfortunately, this can lengthen response times a bit. Please be patient and they'll get to you as soon as they can.

Hi all
I'm new to this forum (but not the game) and I am trying to figure out how the signature codes work.
Before any of you ask, yes I have used the search function and I could not find anything relating to this (I may have overlooked something, so please don't come into this thread saying "omg lol, ure totally blind/stupid! i can find a zillion threads just like this u stupid noob lol").
I am wondering if I can have signatures as HTML coding (if so, how can i change my settings to display HTML within these forums as I can't find the setting) or [IMG].
Thanks in advance for any help
[/ QUOTE ]
You can't use HTML, however you can use the very similar forum code. When you make a post you should see beneath the text box a range of options that you can click on: "Instant Graemlins" (smileys), "Instant UBB Code", and "Font color" (yetch, American spelling...). Clicking on any of those will cause the forum to automatically add the recoded code strings to your post, and thus show you what you have available. The code is generally very similar to html, but uses [ and ] instead of < and >. One of the exceptions is creating links, which instead of using
<font class="small">Code:<hr /><pre><a href="http://www.thisisafakelink.com"></pre><hr />
uses the following:
<font class="small">Code:<hr /><pre></pre><hr />
At the current time we do not allow images in signature blocks. -
Contact support, explain that you were billed extra due to technical issues with the site, and they'll be able to get everything sorted out.

Now, with Paragon Studios seemingly signing themselves up to a lifetime contract of policing and checking reported arcs, there are going to have less time to concentrate on your previous suggestions that subscribers have been consistently and specifically asking for.
[/ QUOTE ]
That's a flawed piece of logic. Paragon Studios does game development. Monitoring of the games is done by NCsoft, using people employed specifically as CS staff. Architect doesn't change any of that. They're still developers, and they'll continue developing.

If it's so easy to do .. why hasn't it already happened?

Am I missing the bit where this came out quickly? Because they've essentially been making a very big (And nifty) development tool and giving it to us as content.
Which is both sneaky and awesome at the same time.
[/ QUOTE ]
He's not saying that MA was easy to get out to us. He's saying that this demonstrates how easy it is to create missions/arcs/ new enemies to fight etc. He's asking the extremely valid question that if the dev tools are even more powerful, why have they never bothered to raise the bar in terms of mission content?
Because it's quite clear that it would be very simple to have done so.
Especially if they had ever added tools to their own MA systems. (boobytraps perhaps- that kind of thing.)
I see now more clearly than ever what they COULD have done but just have never bothered to do.
So for me personally, while I enjoy MA (although I have a prob from when I copied my arc from test to live) I have come away thinking that it's a real pity they ever thought it was necessary to give us this particular feature in the first place.
Sorry, but in the overall picture, this just highlights their shortcomings as far as i'm concerned.
[/ QUOTE ]
You should read up on interviews etc from Joe Morrissey with regards the Mission Architect. MA is far more powerful and usable than what the devs had previously. Before MA, they had Excel spreadsheets.
MA started out as Joe's personal project to get the dev team a more powerful and specific tool. That then grew into Mission Architect. -
There will be a digital release for Europe in the near future.

It's all about the money, to tell you the truth, I'm suprised that NC haven't pulled the plug on CoX for not making enough. They've already killed two of the other games I used to play.

I can assure you that CoH isn't going anywhere. The game is successful and profitable. -

Corrupted bases following Issue 14 launch is under investigation, and hopefully the issue has been resolved with this morning's patch.
If you have a base that has become corrupted and are still experiencing problems, and have not yet contacted support, please do so.
[/ QUOTE ]
Sorry Ghostraptor, the patch had no effect on my base
Please keep me informed Atarax
[/ QUOTE ]
Have you contacted support? The point of my post was that you should if your base is affected. The cause of the problem should be fixed, however if your base is broken still then you need to let support know so that they can address the problem for you. The longer you wait to do that, the longer your base will be broken as the team can't fix something until they know it needs fixing. -
It may be related to a mismatch in your monitor's native resolution and the resolution you are playing in. I've run across very similar issues in the past that were resolved by restoring the game to a standard resolution supported by my monitor. In the most recent case, the game window had been forcibly resized to fill the screen, but the game wasn't recognising this properly and resulted in similar symptoms to those you describe.
Try running the game in the same resolution as your monitor's native resolution and see if the problem remains. If you normally play witht he game windowed, instead of fullscreen, try switching to full screen and using the same resolution as your normal desktop resolution. -
Can we please have one bug per thread in this forum? Thanks!
A descriptive title of the exact nature of the bug helps too.

If you have a new install, you may also wish to check this thread with regards an error that can cause the installed shortcut for the game to incorrectly attempt to log you into the American servers instead of the European servers.

Folks, please keep in mind that linking to content that is obtained in violation of our EULA is against the forum rules. I've removed the link from the French thread.

Please steer this thread back into at least some semblance of being about City of Heroes.
