You can use html to bold italic or add colour to your sig, but not to add images.
Edit: you can add links too

You can't use HTML, however you can use the very similar forum code. When you make a post you should see beneath the text box a range of options that you can click on: "Instant Graemlins" (smileys), "Instant UBB Code", and "Font color" (yetch, American spelling... 
). Clicking on any of those will cause the forum to automatically add the recoded code strings to your post, and thus show you what you have available. The code is generally very similar to html, but uses [ and ] instead of < and >. One of the exceptions is creating links, which instead of using
<font class="small">Code:[/color]<hr /><pre><a href="http://www.thisisafakelink.com"></pre><hr />
uses the following:
<font class="small">Code:[/color]<hr /><pre>[url=http://www.thisisafakelink.com]</pre><hr />
At the current time we do not allow images in signature blocks.
