Hi,
If you haven't already, try turning on "Advanced Settings" in the Graphics options, then turning down the settings for the following:
Water Effects, "Desaturation Effects" and "Bloom".
Start with the first, as this being set to "High Quality" has been known to cause performance problems on some systems, and setting it to Low or None is a common solution to the problem you describe. -
[ QUOTE ]
You missed a bit. It's actually None Shall Pass Unless They Have Lots and Lots and Lots of Snacks!.
[/ QUOTE ]
Fixed.
We'd hoped for the EU beta of the new forums to have been started last week at the latest. Unfortunately the forum deployment team have run into some unexpected snags related to the EU forums being a more complex setup than the US ones. They're coming, I just don't know when. Trust me, if they were ready you'd have them by now: they'll make my life so much easier in so many ways that I'm pretty sure I want them more than even FFM does. -
[ QUOTE ]
If they allow USA to Euro transfers then give us Euro to USA transfers.
[/ QUOTE ]
There are no US -> EU transfers available. This was offered in the past, as a method for EU players who had originally started on the US servers before EU release to move over to the EU servers. Once demand from those players had been satisfied the option was removed. -
Please see existing threads:
NCsoft Q3 Report: http://uk.boards.cityofheroes.com/sh...Number=1259245
and
Server Merge suggestion thread: http://uk.boards.cityofheroes.com/sh...Number=1261529 -
This thread will be locked after the first post that requires moderation, so if you wish to discuss this please very carefully consider how you word your posts.
However, I will just reiterate for now: I am not aware of any plans to merge servers anytime in the near future. -
And now that I've finished clearing out the crud from this thread a second time in two days:
PvP belongs in-game, in the designated areas. You do not PvP on the forums (other than a little tasteful trash talk in the PvP forum). You do not conduct a discussion by making personal comments, name-calling or being disrespectful of others' opinions. -
[ QUOTE ]
I've asked for clarification on the quote, so for the time being let's stop arguing with each other about what it may or may not mean depending on varying interpretations of context. It's all merely opinion for now; and, I must say, both sides have valid opinions based on currently available information.
[/ QUOTE ]
Clarification received:
Positron's quote should not be taken to mean that Architect will be the only thing in Issue 14. Issue 14 will include other material as well. What was meant here is that Architect is seen as a strong enough feature to be the headliner of the issue. This mimics previous issues, where (for example) Issue 11 was named after Ouroborus and Issue 9 after Inventions.
The team just aren't ready to discuss anything in Issue 14 beyond the already known Mission Architect feature at the current time. -
I've moved the thread here for now, as it is a question of sorts. Still not the right place for it, really, but I feel it will hopefully get a better response here than it would remaining in General Discussion.

Can we keep the misinterpretation of the numbers to the numbers thread?
[/ QUOTE ]
Please do. I'd like to keep this thread to discussion of the Boomtown interview. There's a thread already available to discuss the recently released NCsoft financials and the information found within. -
[ QUOTE ]
Now, obviously GR's below confirms the 1st figure, but says the 2nd figure is total number of accounts accessing the servers, not logins.
[/ QUOTE ]
For clarity:
Monthly Access refers to the number of unique accounts that logged in during a monthly period. It does not include subscribers who did not login during that month, and does include any trial accounts that logged in.
Concurrency refers to the number of unique accounts logged in simultaneously, at a global scale. Highest (or peak) concurrency is the maximum such figure achieved during a given period. -
[ QUOTE ]
Well these figures were always going to open up the whole "server population" debate, so I might as well get in now before this thread is locked as a subject not to be discussed.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm perfectly happy for these figures to be discussed. So long as I do not end up having to prune threads and issue warnings for breaches of the forum rules at least once a week as happened with the previous EU population thread(s). -
[ QUOTE ]
Really? Cos nowhere does it say those numbers are subscribers or users. In fact, the general consensus in there seems to be that it's the highest usage on a single day (13000) and the total number of logins to the servers in the month.
[/ QUOTE ]
As a general comment: Concurrency numbers refer to the number of players logged in at a specific time. As such, a "highest concurrent users" (otherwise known as peak concurrency) figure indicates how many accounts were active at the point in time when server population was at its highest. This in no way indicates how many accounts actually accessed the servers across a 24 hour period, because of the impact of variable playing habits (not everyone plays during peak hours, and not everyone plays every single day) in the community as well as time zones at the global scale.
For example, the vast majority of EU accounts will not be online when the global peak concurrency occurs due to most of the account owners being asleep when CoH's global peak concurrency is reached.
This is why the report also includes how many accounts actually accessed the servers during a month. -
I've removed the chain of quote pyramids. Firstly because quote pyramids that get to the point where only one word fits per line are, quite frankly, excessively obnoxious; secondly because the vast majority of posts within that tangent of the thread were distinctly personal in nature and no longer even pretending to address the topic at hand. Unfortunately a couple of more reasonable posts were removed in the process.
I've asked for clarification on the quote, so for the time being let's stop arguing with each other about what it may or may not mean depending on varying interpretations of context. It's all merely opinion for now; and, I must say, both sides have valid opinions based on currently available information. -

- VEATS would be worthwhile, as for Blueside, they are laughable.

In current PvP maybe, in PvE they're fantastic fun and a bit of a challenge to make properly.

And getting an Issue 13 buff. -

Hmmmm... Am I just impatient? Is GhostRaptor very busy?
I'm still longing for that PPD Hardsuit code...

Did you guys get this yet? I've heard nowt so far

Very busy is pretty accurate. I have them on my to-do list, right near the top now. -

The OP's best bet is to poke PlayNC Support, methinks. :\
[/ QUOTE ]
Always the best option for anything like this where you can't locate in-game perks that you have purchased. Only the support staff can help track down why it isn't showing and help resolve the problem. -
Seems Posi's been getting very chatty recently
. To go along with the Ten Ton Hammer interview posted earlier, there's another at Boomtown:
http://rpg.boomtown.net/en_uk/articl...w.php?id=17021
Quick excerpt:
[ QUOTE ]
Matt Miller: Issue 13 started off having all sorts of new features tied around PvP, simply because it was a system that we had not put as much attention towards in the past. When we began to play these new systems, the feedback we got was that none of them were any fun. This was really disappointing, since they looked good in design. When we drilled down to exactly why they were not fun, we came to the sobering realization that the lack of fun wasnt the new systems fault, it was PvP as a whole that was limiting. Certain powersets dominated. Certain ATs were impossible to beat. Certain tactics were fun, but only for the person employing them. For everyone else these tactics bordered on frustrating, annoying, and a plethora of other words that are antonyms for fun.
PvP as a whole needed to be fixed. Wed let the current system get into a state where only a small handful of our players actually used it. If we were really going to invest in these new PvP systems, we needed to get the current PvP game to be accepted and used by more than just that handful of players.

Transcript, please! (For those of us with draconian office internet usage policies)
[/ QUOTE ]
It's written in article format, and posting the full article isn't something I like to see: it's their article, they 'own' it and deserve to receive the traffic for it. Here's a couple of interesting quotes for you, though:
[ QUOTE ]
"Weve hired some new programmers to look into sprucing up our graphics," Matt answered. "The engine we use is actually very powerful, but we have been conscious of peoples machines and minimum specs on the game for a while now, so we havent really seen the true glory of what it is capable of. But I think its safe to say yes, players can expect to see graphical improvements."
.
.
As our final question, the Ten Ton Hammer team asked Matt what they should be looking for over the next year. According to Miller, 2009 will feature a whole treasure trove of cool new stuff. "Beyond Mission Architect, which is a huge initiative coming in Q1, we have content that I cant talk about yet," he stated. "But I will say that there are things coming, some of which we have been hinting at, or maybe even flat out denying was even possible, for a long time."

Well worth a read, even if a lot of what Positron shares is not particularly revealing.

Please return to discussing the topic of the XP / no-XP toggle.
[/ QUOTE ]
GR, as you're reading, do you know, or can you ask, if the devs are planning for there to be a way to disable Patrol XP without disabling normal XP earning as well?
I'm pretty sure there are plenty of people who still want to earn XP, but don't want to earn DOUBLE XP, and at the moment it appears to not be possible to do that unless you play every character all day every day (which isn't actually possible!).
[/ QUOTE ]
I'll ask and pass along the feedback from this thread. I think the option was added in response to feedback we provided (and have been consistently providing since Issue 12) that many in the community over here was getting a little worried about the rate of gain for XP becoming too fast. We specifically mentioned Patrol XP as being the key concern of late, and I'll definitely include this into our next feedback report. -
Disagreeing with a suggestion someone makes is perfectly valid, especially if accompanied by a reason as part of a debate (as was the case in this thread; borderline in some cases, but not across the line). Telling someone not to post because their ideas are stupid is not allowed, however, as that constitutes trolling and/or a personal attack.
Let me make this clear: everyone is entitled to post their opinion on the topic of a thread, whether that is in agreement or disagreement. The only people who get to decide on whether a topic is allowed on the forums are the Moderators.
Please return to discussing the topic of the XP / no-XP toggle. -

Yeah this one guy on Defiant server sent me a BLIND invite and to which I joined anyway but as I got to him he quit team. Upon looking at his global it read <name deleted by GR: name and shame is not allowed>
I 1 starred him incase he was on a team of mine in future so I can make sure I look after all the nicer people first.

The fact I have left this thread open is not an invitation to use it to name other players. Given the nature of the thread, any naming done in this thread will be automatically considered a "name and shame" and dealt with as such. -
