  1. I'd be interested in this, depending on the time. Just post when you're looking to do it, or at least a few time options.

Edit: I'm in for Saturday, and possibly Friday night. Let me know when exactly you're looking to do this so that I can adjust for the time difference.

I have been accused of griefing once before. It took a very large headache and a great deal of chat, PM's and forum reading and responding to make my side of the story clear. The difference was - I was able to make a global friend out of my adversary after it was all said and done. My SG at the time was not in a position to stage server wide events. We were doing our thing when a server wide event commenced at the same time. I was unaware of this planned event. I felt griefed, they felt like they were being griefed.

It's an ugly accusation, and it's real easy to appear to be griefing when you're just trying to have fun with NPCs.

In the interest of server peace, it would be good if those of you with an issue with Matt (and vice-versa) would simply, without heated discussion, but calm, rational discussion explain what the problem(s) is/are and maybe these can be overcome with effort.

Now, Matt, I can understand how things may appear to you, but the Mods in LB, as a rule, are not "power hungry". I don't have to agree with all their decisions or actions/inactions. They serve a purpose and most of my problems with LB occur when there are no visible Mods. (some hide because they are too busy in game to deal with the issues, and who can blame them. It would be a large headache - it's not like they're getting a single benefit out of it.)

LFA, this new channel, if folks there are more ....tempered with their dialogue, all the better, but with essentially the same people, the same issues will resurface over time.

My advice is for all of you to forgive each other. Life is too short for petty problems. Reality, like it or not, is not your perception of the events that have occurred to make this conflict. Let's just say both sides (and the by-standers) are sorry about how things have turned out. Everyone who can't forgive and mean it, use the ol' gignore and carry on.
You know Ukase, this sounds an awful lot like my post http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=222167 which apparently should have been read by more people since this issue has once again reared its ugly head. Like yourself, I'm a firm believer that life is way too short for petty problems. Hopefully this is something that can get put behind everyone, and we can get back to beating on bad guys (or good guys, if you're a villain).

No, I was definitely meaning PM, or as they say here in Finland, 1300 - 1400-ish. Those times work the best for me since it's 8-9 PM here. Unless someone runs one late, and I mean really late Friday or Saturday night, then I could get in on it since it'll be Saturday/Sunday morning for me. I hate missing out on these.
  4. 1. Yes, I'm all in favor of Libertines getting together and being active, just wish they were at a time when I could be a part of them.

    2. I would have no problem leading an assault team, or even a full-on raid, once I've got one or two under my belt. (See above.)

    Hami Raid

If you guys ever decide to do one of these raids around 1 or 2-ish Eastern time, let me know. Being 7 hours ahead of the East Coast makes it tough for me to get involved in a lot of the stuff going on in my beloved Liberty.

  9. Okay, so you know how most military stories start with "No kidding, there I was..." or "This is no lie...", and then they end up being some fantastic story? I wish that was the case with this one.

It all started after my second "trip" to Afghanistan. My team got back Stateside looking for a little down time to rest and refit before we went into training again. We'd been busy this last time over and were due for a break. Things were heating up in Iraq and we figured we'd probably be getting tasked for something over there as well, so better to rest up now while we had the chance.

We'd just come back after a four-day weekend when the group commander called down to the company asking for me to come up to the headquarters to see him. Not sure what he could want, I threw on my beret and headed over. Now in the special ops community, we don't stand on a lot of formality in general, however, going to see “the old man”, or the group commander, isn't something that I like to do, especially when I have no idea what it's about.

So I show up at his office and he has me come in and sit down. Right away I'm on edge. Why is a full-bird colonel having me sit down in his office like we're old buddies or something? Either something's really wrong with my team, or we're about to get really hosed.

That's when he tells me that what we're about to talk about is completely “off the record”, we're talking classified to the utmost, and then some. He told me I had been selected for this project called Operation Geronimo. Something that was being planned at the highest levels of government. He couldn't say much more than that, other than that it had been an honor for him to have been my commander and that he wished me all the luck in the world. Normally I'm okay with someone wishing me luck, but when they add on, “You're gonna need it!”, then I get a little tense.

Before I know it, I'm packing up my gear and moving out to this place in Rhode Island. Apparently part of Operation Geronimo had to do with me getting poked, prodded, and operated on by these doctors who worked for the government. After a few months of this I was starting to go stir crazy. Sitting around not doing anything, other than working out, which is another story all together, tends to wear on me. I'm not the kind of guy who goes for that, which is why I got into special forces.

Then one day, out of the blue, this Army general shows up. Says he's the commander for Operation Geronimo and that it's time for me to find out what I'm really here for. I'm brought into a room with all these other people, male, female, and some I'm not too sure about, but what the heck, I'm here for the ride. The lights dim in the room and a picture of this huge space ship is projected on the wall, followed by pictures of what I can only describe as aliens. The general says that these are the Rikti and they are on there way to Earth.

Now maybe to some of these other characters this was run-of-the-mill stuff, but I'm used to fighting people, not science fiction characters, and this was stretching my imagination to the limits here. It wasn't until the end when the general started calling out names that I got more focused. I would be leading an assault team, something I could handle, to the Rikti homeworld. The members of my team all went by comic book names, like Hero 1, Ajax, Glacia, and Infernia, but they were all capable fighters. We were called the Omega Team, and we had our marching orders.

I don't remember much about the initial assault. It all kind of blurred together after a while. There was a lot of fighting though, and a lot of people getting hurt, as well as some who wouldn't be coming home. We all thought we would make it back. I never thought it would take me five years to get home. I'm glad I'm back though. After what the Rikti subjected us to over those five years, I'm ready for some payback. Thanks to Operation Geronimo and the powers I was given, I know just how to get even with those Rikti scumbags! Fortunately for me, the people that rescued me, Team Veritas, brought me right back to Paragon City. Now, not only do I have all the tools and powers I was given, but there are a lot more super-powered beings here who can help take the fight to the Rikti.

My name is Sergeant First Class Vance Grissom, but you can call me Geronimo 69.

    Loss of a Hero

I know there are a ton of people on here who by now know what my profession of choice is, and I cannot thank you enough for the support that you show day in and day out for myself, and the people like me who choose to put on a uniform and place ourselves in harm's way. However, today I would like to bring your attention to something not quite as fun what we're used to here on Liberty.

This morning, I arrived at work and was going through the headlines online and one caught my attention. http://afghanistan.blogs.cnn.com/201...al-homecoming/

The article is about a guy that I had the pleasure of becoming friends with this past January and February. We were both attending a course for senior Army noncommissioned officers at Fort Benning, and over the course of the time we were there, got to develop a decent enough friendship as one can expect to make in 8 weeks of school. I didn't know him all that well, but what I did know of him I won't forget. He, along with a few other guys I met there, really made the course a lot less boring than it really was. Seeing this story really floored me.

I know he chose to do what he did without any reservations whatsoever. Heck, one doesn't get to wear a Ranger tab just for showing up every day, let alone earn the distinction of being called a Ranger. As a fellow infantryman, I know that doing what I do comes with a certain degree of danger, and I accept that every day, just as I have for the last 14 years now.

During the last 9 years I have unfortunately had to deal with the loss of at least 6 other friends, and every time it blows me away that someone else I know has been taken from "we, the people". Because of people like Lance Vogler we have the ability to enjoy being heroes, villains, rogues, or vigilantes whenever we want. I'm not trying to stand on a soap box here, more like just venting. It's people like him though, that I dedicate my characters to, as a way to keep their memories living on.

To borrow my friend American Valor's signature, "When you wake up seek the courage and strength to do the right thing. Decide that this will be another day in which you 'Walk The Talk.'"

Thanks for letting me vent Liberty.

Why am I now seeing Fred from the old Dunkin' Donuts commercials? Which does give me an idea for a new character now. Thanks Ukase!
  12. It would appear that I'm a little late to this party, so a very belated happy birthday ND! May you enjoy many, many more!

    Hami Raid

I think I may have to get up extra early to see about making it to this one. Seeing as how I've only been to one attempt here on Liberty, and I really want to be a part of one, this is reason enough for me to get up at 2 in the morning. Of course, I can always go back to sleep afterwards, so mark me down as being there with Geronimo (fire/TA troller).
  14. Dude! There is no way I'm doing that! Especially with a garden hose and a phone book!

TPBM has all the superpowers of Statesman, but only in the presence of the most noxious of flatulence.
  15. Gotta agree with Matt and Fitzy, no lag on my end, and I'm connecting from Europe, however I'm also running on a 110M cable connection, so that may be part of it too. I love me some European internet connections!
  16. Ah the drawback of living outside of the US. I would love to join in on the fun, however the start time for me is 10 PM European Daylight Time, so I'll be headed to bed by then. Something about having to work the following morning I think. Best of luck to all who turn out for it though!
  17. So what you're saying is that Saran Wrap is the new look in armor this year?
  18. She does seem to have all the answers.

Is there nothing that can be said to stump her?
  19. Glad to hear the OG Steele Magnolia is doing better. My thoughts go out to her, and to you Steele, for a speedy recovery.
  20. Dang Hazy! Conga-rats to you!! I'm stoked for you because there's no way I could pull off a solo Mo-Anything with my main. Good on you!
  21. Morning from the "Best Country in the World" SaintJohn!
  22. To follow up on DevilYouKnow's response, feel free to hit me up as well at @Geronimo 69 if you're looking for PvP badges. My main is completely slotted for PvE, so I don't venture too much into the PvP zones except to try and pick up the badges. If that's what you're looking for, I'd be more than willing to lend a hand. I've had my share of stalkers sneaking up on me while I'm in there badging, but I'll either rez and go back to what I'm doing, or bail for a while then come back. They tend to get bored rather easily anyway.
  23. After almost four years of hanging around on CoX, and seeing life on some of the other servers, I am always reminded of why Liberty has been my home from pretty much the get-go. I recently posted a listing of my new SG that I formed, and I know I shouldn't be, but I am astounded by the congratulations and coalition opportunites. Liberty, to me, continues to represent what it means to be a hero (or really good villain in some cases). I've said before, in another post, that we will have our differences from time to time, agreeing to disagree as it were, but we're just one big family. It has never been more evident to me than what I have seen since getting back in November. I am honored, and proud, to continue to call Liberty my home, and I wouldn't want to be anywhere else than with some of the greatest players in the CoX realm. You guys and gals are what make this game great, and I salute each and every one of you. Including Fitz and Budo. Thanks!
  24. Well after almost 4 years of playing, and three different SGs, I've gone out on my own.

    Supergroup Name: Team Veritas

Website: N/A Still not in need of one right now since we're very small.

    Leader and/or Recruiting Officers:
    Geronimo 69, reachable globally via @Geronimo 69
    B'kash Shrall
    Vanilla Geronimo
    Sotic
    Scoville Unit
    Veritasfides

Anyone of the above can invite to the SG, so if you're interested, and see one of us online, hit us up.

Preferred Method of Contact: In-game message to any of the above, or through the forums by contacting me.

Group Description: We don't have real base as of yet, still building up the prestige in order to develop something decent. We have a coalition member, and the only one as of right now, who has graciously allowed us access to their base to use their teleporters. I am currently looking for any other SGs that might be willing to allow us to become part of their coalitions to help out as Team Veritas gets its feet off the ground. If you're looking for someone to team with, all members are available for whatever, whenever.
