Raptor pack is ugly, but if you're redside you can get the goldbricker pack, and that one looks pretty cool.
-
I've always thought it would be cooler if CoH celebrated in-game holidays and events instead of real world holidays. I think this about all MMOs, but they seem convinced that duplicating real-world holidays with virtual equivalents is more interesting.
Meh. -
I feel that my dark/dark holds its own on teams. I can 1-shot lieut's reliably when hidden, and 2-shot them out of hide. It's not hard to find a boss that's not currently the focus of everyone else's attention and rip them to shreds before the group piles on. And several times after team wipes my AoE mag 30 stun self-rez has let me give the team a chance to make a dramatic comeback.
I would dearly love a bit more survival and a better AoE than shadow maul, but overall I do think the proposals to make the full spectrum Stalker -> Scrapper -> Brute -> Tank in terms of damage -> Survivability makes the most sense and implementing it would be as simple as changing the damage scalar for stalkers and giving us the full value of buildup. But meh.
I still have fun so I'll keep playing and I guess that's why nothing changes. =) -
Because the Dev's actually like scrappers. Keeping Energy Melee away from scrappers IS showing them love.

Quote:It's only 10 minutes. I have a couple of characters where I use this to reset my mission teleport. Because blueside taskforces and story arcs can be HELL the way they send you all over the place.That just might. However, you then have to wait another 15 min before you could swap back.
Quote:...or how about just walking? I remember it would reset the Alpha when that was bugged. -
the -regen is not just -500%. It stacks. During testing against a pylon the cataphract maintained a reliable 500-2000% -regen dropping the pylon from a normal 102hp/sec to 30-somethinglow.
However, with that said, the actual damage output is pretty low. Still against a GM they'd be handy. -
And you can't switch if you've attacked or been attacked within 5 minutes. Sometimes it can take over 20 minutes to switch.
Possible Cheat: Does swapping builds reset the timer? I know it resets all cooldowns. -
Quote:The Rikti are from a parallel dimension. As far as I know, we do not have evidence one way or another if Khelds exist in the Rikti dimension. Nor do we yet have conclusive evidence the race that transformed the Rikti does or does not exist in the Primal Earth dimension.im not sure if someone has asked this but, does any one know if there is any relation between kheld's and rikti? Surely they crossed paths at one point... Or at least rikti and nictus? Both evil and wanting to conqure....
Edit, and as far as a relation, no. Rikti are from a parallel earth. Khelds are from another Galaxy. No relationship. But if Khelds exist in the Rikti dimension, they might have arrived (or atleast their equivalent of nictus might have) in Rikti-earth's past just like the nictus arrived in primal earth's past. But that's all speculation. -
With limited market and recipe access I'm not sure how free people will get enough money to significantly spike Hami-o prices.
However, if they are available and IOs are limited, I do expect more demand, yes. How that translates I think we will need to know a bit more about the mechanics. unless someone already does. =) -
If you have the money, you can also buy them off market. Just go to the market forum and look, there are a number of threads with people looking to sell.
And several of the market regulars will be willing to act as a trusted third party to ensure no one gets cheated.
Both Dumpleberry and Fulmens have offered such services and I have used them myself. They tend to take a small cut of the price, basically the same way the market would if you bought it through the market. -
I think the easiest and most interesting change would be to make it accept sniper sets and be affected by all mods.
Note: I am not in any way shape or form saying to make it a ranged attack or to use the stalker ranged attack scale. I am saying let it accept snipe sets, and let the snipe bonuses increase the range beyond 7 feet. That is all.
This would give us some very juicy set bonuses you don't find in the melee sets. It makes AS a much more interesting power. And the small range mod would make it easier to use. And you can significantly reduce the interrupt.
Would be a very interesting change I think. Something fun. -
Quote:Soo, are you saying it is possible to modify the files and go below minimum height?Not sure if this has changed but back when they fist introduced being able to save costumes I had a play around with editing the costume saves and it was possible to make smaller/larger than the sliders allowed by changing values in those files. However I don't know (can't now recall) what my eventual findings were. :/
I'll go and have a look now my mind is thinking about it.
edit:
Seem to be able to get the smallest female body to be well under 4' tall. Though it is a bit finickety when loading into the character designer, that is some times when you load it the scales get reset to minimum slider scale, not absolute minimum. :/
Can you go taller too?
can you tell me how to do both of these?
Warning -- when it comes to doing anything with files, I am a complete idiot. It took me a year to find the screenshot folder on my Mac. -
Can you turn bosses off and slaughter him as a lieutenant? I don't think he's an EB is he?
If that doesn't work, and if envenomed daggers aren't enough, then I recommend temp-power overload. Head to Siren's call and get the venom grenade, web grenade and shield. Head to bloody bay and get shivans. From the black market, get yourself a backup radio. From your supergroup base craft resist toxic and recharge bonus and anything else you think will be handy. Set the mission to -1/x0.
The venom grenade will give him -20 resist all, and the shivan will butcher his defenses. At that point the shivan and radio dude should be able totear him up. Only two immobilizees are needed to stop him fleeing (If I recall) so you can pack them on while your goons do the pounding for you. -
Wow. Nice score for you. I hope that who ever bought them really, REALLY enjoys them. Like, in a NSFW kind of way.

Quote:good point. I wasn't trying to say they are species of khelds, but that the khelds are in-game models of three different alien species. Probably could have said it clearer. Thanks!<nitpick>
We *know of* two (technically four) other species because of the Kheldians copying the forms. The Kheldians themselves are one species (or, rather, two, with the serious divergence due to Science of the Nictus/Warshades.)
The forms themselves are not other species of kheldians.
</nitpick> -
In general (it does vary server by server and day to day):
Blueside:
Atlas park has lots of people
Peregrine Island has lots of people
Talos Island has a decent amount of people
All other zones feel like a wasteland even though they are not (except for Galaxy City, Boomtown and Perez Park, they pretty much are wastelands)
Redside:
Cap au Diablo has lots of people
Grandville has a decent amount of people
Sharkshead Island has a decent amount of people
All other zones are wastelands.
If your server uses it for iTrials, the Rikti Warzone is overrun with 50s who will ignore you unless you are starting an iTrial. If your server uses it for iTrials the Pocket D is overrun with 50s who will ignore you unless you are starting an iTrial.
If you are on Virtue, Pocket D is overrun with people you will either wish you could ignore or who you will really really enjoy.
Yes on those last two bits I am exaggerating and being a bit of a goob. That's who I am. -
One other thing to keep in mind is the head sliders. You can actually make your noggin pretty large or quite small. It's not entirely insignificant a change.
-
Hyperstrike, I'm in tears here. That was awesome. Did you create that flowchart or someone else?

Quote:This is the ultimate truth of it. It is a game. Have fun. =)Well, I asked because I wanted to give an Alien backstory to some of my old toons after revising them, as well as for some new toons.
I guess this means I can pick out some of my favorite alien races to convert to the setting. And since it's a Big Universe, there might even be a few small Empires out there...
I mean, as mentioned look at the salvage. It's called Alien Blood Sample. Not Kheldian Blood Sample. And the description doesn't limit the species to one of the 7 that exist in game lore. -
Quote:Also there are the natives of the shadow shard itself, which look human but are from there. the rularuu soldiers, if I recall, are just splinters of rularuu the entity and not individual species.Now if we want to get really technical while the Rularuu are alien in nature since, I believe, there was only one brief period in game where they invaded earth when they were first introduced (Sorry that was before I began so I am not sure but I seem to recall reading about it). We are the ones now that constantly travel to their world and even have established various bases and outposts (Firebase Zula, etc), Technically WE are the alien race in their universe not the other way around LOL
Quote:Kheldans we know for a fact they arrived from outer space
Quote:Croatoa's Fir Bolg, Red Caps and Tautha certainly fall into the same sort of other wordly area as the COT demons... not sure about the Cabal they are witches but real or imagined we have myths dating back centuries about witches here. As for the ghosts... well I believe they are former residence of Salamanca so while they may no longer be among the living they are certainly not aliens. Same goes for the ones on the ghost ship.. they didn't appear from out of a dimensional rift or emerge from a space ship.. they rose from their earthly graves to haunt us.
Quote:In times of old, the Fir Bolg battled the invading Tuatha de Dannan for control of Ireland. Here in Croatoa, history seems to be repeating itself. The two tribes, transported across an ocean and transformed into monstrous shapes, are waging an eternal war.
The Red Caps themselves are evil faeries. Now, depending on your take Faerie is the name of a place, not just a type of critter. CoH seems to at least have such a realm as many of the missions in Croatoa take you into the spirit realm which has no ghosts so is clearly distinct from the netherworld that negative energy comes from, but is otherwise a mirror of earth. And the red caps are from there. The Cabal are 100% human however.
So we know a minimum of 4 legitimate aliens with models in the game, 1 (merulina) without a model, and 2 more (Battalion and whatever kills off the Khelds in the future as stated by Twilight's Son) mentioned.
To add to your list of monsters that are not aliens:
The hydra tentacles in Faultline seem to be unrelated to the hydramen and just a product of polution. -
I can say that in general the strategy is:
Mez the group. Single-Mez the really dangerous individuals. AoE the group. Refresh Mez. AoE the group. Refresh Mez.
And sprinkle in single-target as needed.
But the exact specifics do vary based on your powersets.
For example, on my Plant/Ice I open with either Seeds (aoe confuse), Creepers (aoe knock and "taunt" since the creepers draw aggro), or Vines (aoe hold). Then I jump in and hit Ice sword circle, and roots (aoe immob but I have chance for hold slotted), then jump out and single-target hold whomever is still attacking me, followed with frostbreath, roots and another single-target hold. Pretty much whatever I just held is the last thing alive at this point. If there's still a group my confuse is recharged.
On my fire/fire I always open with the aoe stun. Then aoe immobilize (will have chance to hold slotted soon), and then I go into a cycle of single-target hold, blaze, single-target hold, fire blast, repeat. If I'm facing too many bosses I have chance to hold in flares and lockdown in my char so char-flares-char-flares is pretty much a guaranteed hold even against an elite boss. I can toss in my aoe hold as an emergency as needed. Sometimes, against really dangerous bosses or resistant ones (cimeroans) I'll single-target hold-aoe-hold-singletarget hold. then start my damaging attacks once he's locked down.
Now, I don't go like most doms. I have no one with permadomination and no one with significant defense. I live or die based on my mezzes alone. and 90% of the time I forget to use domination at all. I've gone two missions in a row without ever turning on domination. That's just plain bad form so don't do it =) -
Seriously. Domi's are the only AT with nothing? Sure they say there's something for them coming later, but does anyone believe that Dom's will be the only AT to get whatever is coming later and no other AT will get anything at that time?
I don't.
Quote:I'm not totally ungrateful as I said. We did get 1.5 nice sets (Kat = Broadsword) and an energy aura revamp to appease the minority that actually HAS an Energy Aura brute, but ice is deserved, now more so than ever.
Kat > Broadsword.
Kat >>>>>>>>> Broadsword. Under virtually all circumstances.
Barely different spike damage, significantly higher damage over time, better defense because of the faster recharge giving faster parry/DA stacking, etc. It is better on SOs and the more you invest in it the greater the difference between the two sets becomes. -
I'll back Neogumbercules and the others on the issues with the original target of Ion dying being a pain. However, it does have utility the others don't. It is much better than Pyro or Void at widely spread out targets. Often I can get whole spawns when only one is visible and the rest are around corners or behind pillars both of which would keep them safe from Pyronic.
Pyronic is spectacular, and equal or better to Ion under virtually all other circumstances.
Cryonic pretty much sucks. but it looks pretty and is a thematic fit for the character who has it so I keep it.
Void is solid, I love that the damage type is lightly resisted, and the -Dam is not only high enough to be noticed, but it lasts a good long time too. It has a pretty large area of effect. And if you care about the visuals, pull back your camera and watch carefully. The spiraling tentacles of dark energy are subtle and awesome. -
Quote:I've got a /regen scrapper, and can't take the blue patches the damage is just too high. Not sure if a brute has enough higher HP and thus HPS to do it. I die pretty fast even at HP cap and 182 HPS. Haven't tried with a destiny buff though.@Nihilii - you touched on the exact reason I quietly think /regen is under-rated in the modern game. I personally can't wait to stand there in the blue patches (while sitting at capped regen thanks to destiny) laughing at BM while I smash her face. Or standing there waiting for Nova Fist with a well timed DP/Recon riposte. Before anyone laughs, if /DA can pull off this move with DR once or twice, then /regen should shine at it. And Keyes, lovely keyes. Disint will still suck - but pulses? Whatever.
Now, I can say, Nova Fist I just ignore and click once afterward if I think there's enough incoming damage from other sources that I might not heal passively before they drop me. Often enough I just keep swinging and turn out fine.
on Keys, the disint you only need to worry about the last 2 pulses. they're too fast and too much damage to ignore, but the first two are nothing. The pulses aren't even worth recon unless you have a Vicky attacking you. You can just passively heal back to full before the next. What's really fun for me is that with DP up I get hit for precisely 1337 damage per pulse =)
All of these will be better on a brute and they're pretty darn fun right now on a scrapper. I do think you'll have a great time.
Honestly, the iTrials have made me enjoy my /regen much more than I have in over a year. Used to be the clicky nature of the set frustrated the hell out of me. But in the trials the utility of the set just offers so much fun. -
Quote:You need to read further into the thread. On paper the nems are #2, but put to the test they are way down the list. Deus actually tested all of them on a pylon and calculated their actual damage output. Here's his post for you:Ok so after reading all of this
The cimereans do insane melee damage
More if you count the crits
The nemesis do next best about 70% ( which still beats my toons dps)
but ranged
Not remembering what else they bring to the party
Vengence?
I play an ill/ rad who enjoys soloing av/gms/pylons
So i think i will take the nemesis because they will stay back with me and i can buff and heal them better since i stay out at range too
Thabks for the info
Quote:Ok here's the full list, from highest to lowest.
Longbow get special mention, they don't have 184 raw DPS and achieved their results through the cataphract's ability to keep the Pylon's regen floored for the entire fight (-500 to -2000% regen).
* Cimerorans = 278
* Warworks = 209
* Phantoms = 204
* Rularuu = 199
* Carnies = 184
* Longbow* = 184
* Rikti = 180
* IDF = 179
* Arachnos = 178
* Nemesis = 164
* Robotic Drones = 162
* Polar Lights = 160
* Storm Elementals = 148
* Vanguard = 141
* Seers = 131
Some other notes:
Storm Elementals, Carnies & the Laser Drone started to run low on endurance around the 3 minute mark and this hampered their performance a bit - that's pretty bad IMO considering the Character I was using had T4 Cardiac Core Paragon slotted.
