As a long time follower and player of CoX, I'm looking forward to this.*
* I started following CoH 3 years before it went live, and have been playing since the original Closed Beta 3rd Wave (February/March 2004)

Quote:I was curious about which card you used, the 8800 or the new one you were talking about. Thanks for answering that.BTW, I shot this with an nVidia 8800 GTS 512 video card on an Intel Core 2 Quad Processor Q6600 (4x 2.4GHz/8MB L2 Cache/1066FSB), with 3GB of RAM on Windows XP.
Enjoyable as always.

I agree with Fulmens and BurningChick on their points about FF.
In the high level game, with a well thought out IO build even Blasters can establish excellent damage mitigation. Soft-capping Defense to range is not hard (but it is expensive) to do. That's where the one-trick pony aspect of FF takes a hit in "want on my team" mentality of players compared to other Defender sets.

Congratulations on the new addition to your family!

Shae has my condolences on her loss.
Things like this make me sit back and reflect on just how much a game like this factors into our social network. The people we meet, get to know, and have fun with definately matter more than "it's just a game."

True, it hasn't been updated yet. However, it was stated by Hero 1 as recently as this past PAX that Marcus Cole killed Stefan Richter because he wanted his power, and the desire to rid himself of a super powered competitor. There was more mentioned, but I figure that will come out in the story that will be revealed with GR.

The other day I was on my GF's Vent server (she's a WoW player), and one of her game friends asked me "are you Canadian?" I had to explain that I live 12 miles from the USA-Canada border, and that we "blend a lot" due to that.
Anyway, I RP that my main characters are from the Seattle area. They probably would know of the Northern Watch, especially if it saw public action in BC.
It's cool that you have kept your PnP back story alive in CoH.

Congrats!
My questions are in no particular order:- After college did you take any continuing education courses that were job related? If so, what sort of courses were they?
- Were you really born in Vancouver proper, or was it West Vancouver, North Vancouver, Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, Burnaby, New Westminster, Richmond, or (shudders) Surrey? Those of us who live around the area do know the difference.
- What do you most look forward to doing in your new role?
- Who is _your_ role model? Why?

66 Month Vet as of Oct. 2009.
What toons have you been playing for all this time?
I've played my FF/EB Defender the longest. Next came my Peacebringer. When CoV came out I began playing a Rad/Sonic Corruptor. When the VEATs entered the picture I started playing a Fortunata. Then there came the Dark/Dark Scrapper as a "I wonder how they play" test. My latest character is a Fire/MM Blaster.
Have you played one from when you started till now?
Yes. My first character (not counting all the Closed and Public Beta characters I had before the game went live) is still my main character. He has over 2,750 hours in-game time, and even more when you add in the time I've played him on the Test Server.
What's your favourite build?
It's a tie for me. The Fortunata is very, very fun for me to play. It has great defenses combined with a rock solid ranged attack set. However, I prefer to play Blue Side, and I can't wait for the chance to be able to change sides with that character. The other favorite of mine is my FF/EB Defender. Again it has to do with the great defense (self and team protection) combined with a good ranged attack set. The enhancement slotting they have tends to contribute to my fun with them.

Add my congratulations to the list. Let's give him three cheers for achieving a dream job.

I found this interesting factoid on the PAX forums:
Quote:All tickets have been sold out. 75,000 is a pretty amazing attendance.Last year (2008) PAX had over 58,000 attendees.
This year, ticket sales are capped at 75,000

PAX certainly has grown, hasn't it?
I'm guessing that tonight and/or tomorrow is the "travel day" for the California based NCsoft and CoX folks. The booth has to be setup tomorrow in preparation for Friday morning. That is unless they get the Seattle based HQ to set it up for them.
Are there going to be any demos of Going Rogue? The photos looked like the booth art is featuring it.

I look forward to seeing the CoX folks there. It's always a grand time talking with the players, Dev's, and Community Relations Team.
Also, it's great that the Online Community Relations Team is hosting the Meet & Greet this year. I had a lot of fun at last year's M&G. The Billiards Room isn't quite as large of a space as we had last year, but it's a little bit more "group oriented" type of room.

Name: The Defenders of Paragon
Currently Recruiting: TDOP is accepting new members.
RP Level: RP-friendly
PvP Level: Casual
Theme/Concept: The Defenders of Paragon are like the JSA. We are comprised of the best of the old and boldest of the new. We pay homage to the excellance that is the comic book industry through the characters we play. It is because of this that we have such a wide variety of members and such a brilliant mix of superheroes on the team. We have members at all level ranges, and look to promote a roleplay-friendly family spirit in our supergroup.
The Defenders of Paragon are comprised of several in-game supergroups. All of The Defenders of Paragon groups function as a branches of a single supergroup for most game purposes.
Activity: TDOP membership extends around the world. There is seldom a time when you can not find at least a couple of members online. Peak-time for the group centers around early afternoon until late evening (standardized to Eastern Time).
Requirements for Membership: The primary requirement for membership is that the player can interact well with the rest of the group. Typically we require recruits to participate in "get to know each other" teaming prior to acceptance into the group.
Leadership:
Bayne
Korpershutz
Kozzma
Night Club
Red Switchblade
No-Show
Preferred Method of contact: Registering at our website and posting on our forums. Although meeting up with us in game is just as desirable.

-Paragon city mayor on the subject of the Defenders.
Paragon City is full of crime and villians. The city cries out desperatly for a hope, an answer, a defense from the evils that fill it. The Defenders of Paragon serve that hope and protect Paragon City. We shall use the powers gifted to us to there fullest extent to defeat evil wherever it exists. We stand for truth, justice, freedom, and righteousness. We are the ray of hope in Paragon City's darkest hour. We are The Defenders.
We're not a "clan" or "guild." We are Superheroes. -
Base Repricing
1) How will the repricing of bases affect you personally?
I will spend time selling and repurchasing some, but not all, items and the plot in order to recoup costs incurred by the current system prices.
I will be forced to devote additional time in SG mode to build the necessary prestige to manufacture items.
I will spend substantial time converting former inventory to replacement inventory in order to afford recipes needed for item creation.
I will be forced to spend personal Influence to purchase item recipe invention salvage when it is unavailable through conversion.
2) Will you dismantle your base to gain the additional prestige from the repricing?
I will be dismantling some, but not all of it.
3) How long would this process take you if you were to engage in this practice?
If I did the full base: over 200 hours
My current plan: over 30 hours
4) What are the positive and negative concerns regarding repricing?
Positives:[*]Rent changes[*]Plot size increase for minimal time and cost expenditures
Negatives: [*]Nothing really to spend it on aside from the same old items[*]Manhours lost.[*]Influence cost to rebuild items that are required to be rebuilt for any dismantling
5) How will this feature affect you long term and short term?
[*]Short term, I will sucked into a time-sink of rebuilding rather than spending time running missions with my SG or others.[*]Long term, my group will expand the base size where desired, but there will be nothing in it except empty space until we get more items to decorate with.
Base Salvage Exchange to Invention Salvage
1) What is the negative effect on your base for this feature implementation?
[*]Cost to the base architect. This requires substantial influence and with the flux on the market of costs there is some cost to the designer that the group will be reluctant to share the burden of.[*]Repetative tasks are requred to convert thousands of base salvage items to brainstorms and then back again.
2) What is the positive effect on your base for this feature implementation?
[*]There are no positive effects on my base for this implemenation.
3) How long will it take you to adjust to learning this new system?
[*]Less than 4 hours.
4) What side effects to this system do you currently see from transitioning the old to new system?
[*]Increased cost to the architects[*]Market Flux causing more cost to the architect[*]Insufficient storage needs during conversion process. The 30 Salvage storage per rack is insufficient for the conversion and rebuilding process.
5) What security concerns do you have regarding this change?
[*]None given the manner in which we operate our base and coalitions.
Additional Notes:
None at this time. -

How do you get all this information all the time? Do you do some illegitimate things and should be banned? You are very suspicious and I have never trusted you. Clear your name, now, woman!
I fail to see why the devs would let you into the closed beta.....

I'm sorry. I should be punished. Everyone, I have stolen from my developers. Please, purge me. I'm ashamed of myself. I should be arrested. I should be purged. I should be flogged. I shouldn't walk among good people. I'm a swine, a wretch; I don't deserve to live like others.
