Quote:I wouldn't actually call it "favourites" unless of course you plan on rebuying the same costume part several times over. That is the impression that "Favourites" gives me.i dont have a problem just doing a filter search to find what im looking for lol
if they dont plan on having gifting as an option, then it would make more sense to be called "favorites" instead
I *personally* have no problem with it being called "wishlist", even if it is just a personal one. Because, it is... you know... a wishlist of stuff that you would like (either immediately or for sometime in the future) -
Challenging to me is aggroing 3 or 4 8man spawns and seeing how easily i can take them down on my Fire/Emp troller.
Sometimes it is harder than you think, and getting mezzed can be annoying (Tip mission DE anyone?, Malta in general).
Certain groups will *force* me to play in a certain way, because if i didnt i would become superhero paté in about 4 seconds.
Malta mobs do not just "challenging" me to think, but they are also "difficult" to defeat (at least solo) for me, on my main character.
Gamewise, anything above an EB is impossible for me to do, Elite bosses are "difficult" to do, and everything else can be just plain fun to do -
Quote:If you are ever in doubt as to when you should be awarded it, you can always check on your playNC account page (City of heroes part of course), as it will list your "awarded date" for quite a bit longer. When does /vault go live? Ive been a paying member since the prerelease headstart on my main account, and I didnt notice a badge as of earlier this week.
Lewis
Of course, when Freedom is released, that page could well change in layout, but for now, the essential information for when you recieve(d) a vet badge is accurate (give or take a floating day sometimes o.O) -
Aye, i remember it being in the EULA since at least the time of Tabula Rasa launch way back ago...

Quote:Am only asking because my Logitech MX1000 even after 3 years heavy usage (it was my main mouse) could last the best part of 2-3 weeks without recharging... and even now 5 years down the line still lasts a week between chargesIt can go a couple days without recharging - more, depending on your usage and if you recall to turn it off when not in use (simple button on the underside).
Compared to other rechargeables, it's probably noticeable only because you have to plug it in, vs drop in a charging cradle.
((I actually swapped that one out because i started having issues with its laser and not tracking properly, again intermittent, but still often enough to annoy)) -
I am currently using a Coolermaster Sentinal mouse. Its nice, very responsive, and the only issue i have had with it is that at very high DPI settings the mouse moves by itself sometimes. Now that could be due to the soft mouse mat that i am using right now, and is intermittent as to when it happens, but apart from that i have no problems.
I was tempted to go for the Logitech G700, but i heard problems about its battery lifespan when running in wireless mode, which made my shy away from it. I know that you can use that mouse in Wired mode, but why spend so much when you are having to keep it tethered all the time.
I previously had the Logitech G5 (2nd release) mouse, and no issues with that at all... It worked nicely with my G15 (original) and G510 keyboards, as well as with my G13 keypad (which i use mainly with CoX and not my other games as much).
The Naga interested me, but without getting my hands onto one, i honestly cannot comment as to how easily all those buttons are accesible, and as to how easily you can tell one from another... so I made the decision not to get one. -
Quote:nah, kick in the teeth is more appropriate.I'm sorry, but this is not the approved phrasing. You're supposed to say that it's a "slap in the face". Exclamation points and frownie faces are appropriate.
A slap in the face would be feel like being stroked by a damp sponge wielded by a blond long haired Italian male.
*coughs*
Sorry, channeling the Old Spice duel right now.... -
Quote:But that then contradicts what the slide says.Yes, they do.
4 Vet Badges per year x 7 = 28 Tokens
+7 Tokes (once yearly grants) = 7 Tokens
That's a total of 35 Tokens. You complete Tier8 and are in Tier9 on your 34th or 35th Token (depending on whether Vets have to invest a Token in Tier1 which is free to newbies).
Which states that you can only take 29 Tokens forward, of which you might have around 36 (if you include the bonus yearly token) by the time Freedom launches (unless its end of November where it then becomes 37)
So, are the 29 tokens that you can carry forward inclusive of the yearly reward bonus or not?
That is what is not explicitly explained.
Because if you read the slides in one fashion, you get one answer, and if you read them in another fashion you get a totally different answer.
I am reading the slides as "The most number of tokens that you can possibly carry forward is 29"... and that would be including the yearly bonus token as well.
It looks like you are reading it that each token you earn for "12 months subbed" is treated separately from the calculation costs, although Positron gave us a formula to calculate how many tokens you would have at any point in time.
Granted, his formula wasn't simplified, but it still infers that the yearly bonus is included with the vet badge calculation as to how Reward Tokens you have for any given amount of Vet reward badges you have. -
Quote:Actually, looking over the Paragon Rewards slides, i noticed that even 7 year vets don't get to be Tier 9 at the start of Freedom. So you want to be a tier 9 without having spent the money to be tier 9. How bout you spend the money you have not spent in sub fees like the 7 year vets have and just buy the PP to get the reward tokens?
So although a 7 year veteran WONT lose any rewards that they currently have, they will instead will not be able to start off at Tier 9 immediately.
There are 6 rewards exclusive to Paragon Rewards, which have to be filled in before you can hit Tier 9...
The only existing vet reward that i cannot pair up with what is being offered with the new one is the "City Traveler"... but there is also the "Blazing Path Aura" that doesn't match up with an existing reward.
Also with the developers saying that you need to complete and existing tier to be able to move up to the next tier, it does actually look like pretty much all subscribers are more on an equal footing (ie none actually being Tier 9 at the start, unless you spend money)
Sorry for the rants that i had earlier, but I had totally forgotten about the limit on the number of tokens that you can bring through to the reward system (29 Tokens is 72 months minus the year bonus token). Which puts it on an even keel, as that is a total achievable by original EU account holders.
*hangs head in shame* -
Quote:Or maybe just reduce the requirement by a couple of vet badges... Suprisignly that is all that is required for that part. That way, there will be more overall to get the bonus, including Americans..Sorry but you ARE on a level peg (to mix metaphors). You have exactly the same reward as anyone else who has played the game for the time you have.
The alternative, that EU players who where there at the EU launch should get a bonus, is unfair to US players who have been invested for the same time! -
Quote:I wonder how many EU account holders will then fork over approximately $30-$45 on day one to just get up to Tier 9.... that is the *minimum* that an EU account holder will have to fork over, even if they have had an EU account from day of release in their own region...Absolutely. The Veterans Rewards (now Tokens) are perks based on how much money you've invested into the game. The people who have been playing longer have put more money in, so they get more perks. Before now, latecomers had no way to ever "catch up". With Freedom, everyone CAN catch up, if they choose to make that investment. I don't see how it could be any fairer.
There is *NO WAY* in which an EU account holder could possibly match a US account holder to be a tier 9 VIP member on the 1st day of Freedom, unless they fork over money.
If both regions are meant to be treated more fairly, I feel that the *initial roll out* is a kick in the teeth for the EU players. Yes its better once the roll out happens, but if the US players are so willing for this, who will buy those EU account holders who
By my calculations, the 1st EU account Tier 9 member (who hasnt bought points from the Paragon Store) will be December or maybe even January 2012.
August 4th 2011 = 78 months max for an EU account (going from EU launch date)
Next vet badge would be awarded on 4th November 2011 (81 months). So if its released before November 4th, add 2 months for the 1st "Freebie" Tier 9 EU player. After November 4th 2011 add one month.
But I wonder how many players will *need* to spend a lot in the Paragon Store at the start, especially considering that we are already accruing Paragon Points as we speak.
It is this preferential treatment towards the US playerbase which is really annoying me with NCsoft/Paragon Studios
At least to me this does seem like a case of "sorry for supporting your own region". An EU account holder WILL HAVE TO SPEND MONEY TO GET TO TIER 9 on the 1st day of Freedom launch. There are no IF's no BUT's. It is a FACT*
Yes i know that it is also faster to "catch up" with the newer system, but i would have been happier if the system was set up so that on "day 1" of Freedom, those who had supported their own region from the start could have at least gained access. IE if Tier 9 minimum month requirement was just a couple of badges less.
I *personally* will be waiting the 15months to get to Tier 9.
((There are the Passport badge holders, but i dont know if they are still counted as US accounts for veterancy, or if it is a "bona fide" EU account and so the most that they could have is once again limited to the EU maximum duration. If it is the latter, then they could well have been paying since US launch, but screwed out of it just because they decided to transfer a character(s) over to the EU servers.)) -
Quote:Indeed, that is very very sucky.I bought the (boxed) game from the US, paid the shipping to get it to the UK and played from the start.
When the EU version launched, to support the game over here and play on the same timezone as the server, I bought the EU version and restarted my account. This was before the passport transfer.
I bought the COV and GR expansions.
My login ID now unfortunately has 'EU' in front of it, as my original US account was called the same...and even though hasn't been used in 5+ years takes presencedence.
I've paid my subscriptions but it sounds like I just haven't been supportive enough to warrant the same status as someone that just stayed on the original server and who hadn't have bought any expansions as they will become included content as long as the subs are maintained.
Guess I made the wrong choice...
I do agree with the consensus that the new veteran rewards system is better than the old one, but I do have a problem with the fact that the EU account holders are shafted just because the game was released later in their area.
In all of my previous posts I have stated EU/US players... because you will find that the vast majority of EU players have EU accounts, and the vast majority of US players have US accounts (I do happen to know of a couple of US players who actually play and only have EU accounts because they 1) Have friends in the EU
2) The EU timezone was more friendly to the hours that they had available to play.
As time has progressed though, and especially with the server list merge, it is less of an issue concerning the "server time zone" issue... there is nothing now to stop you from playing on *ANY* server.
So hypothetically speaking, if the game had been released in the EU 1st and the US version was 10 months later... how many of you would complain in that you couldnt get into the Tier 9, even if you subbed from the 1st day of it being released in your region. Or would you have gone and bought an EU account on day 1?
Yes, i know that hindsight is 20/20, but when the initial Veteran Rewards scheme came out, it wasnt that bad, because they backdated it to when you started, and all when initially rewarded.
But now they are holding costume pieces to ransom... with them only initially available to US account holders for the 1st couple of months.
Yes, i know that we can drop cash to get Paragon Points to get Reward Points as a bonus, but an EU account holder shouldn't feel that they have to do that to just because they are initially hindered because the game was released later in their region.... -
Quote:You could indeed play if you signed up for a US account, but i know a LOT of EU players who started playing the game when it was officially released over here, and not when it was officially released in the US.They never stopped EU players playing the game (apart from the first wave Beta, I think you had to be States side for that) but you could join in any time after that. The EU Game was just targeted for that region. EU players were here on day 1.
The difference is that the vast vast majority of EU players started when it was officially released in the EU.
I am *NOT* denying the fact of they could have played on the US servers at the start, but they would have also been limited to just purely the US servers from that point on.
All i am trying to say, is that those EU players who supported the game from when it was released on the EU side are having to wait for a few months before they can even get their hands on the T9 stuff, even though they have had an EU account from when it launched.
I honestly think that it is something that the developers could look towards, because there is *no way* that an EU player can get up to that level unless they started on the US side of the game.
So whilst it is great that the developers are supporting the long term subscribers to the game, it is unfortunately the "Long time (initial) US account holders" who get the benefit.
Just as a point of information, i am nowhere near getting the T9 at the start, as i am only a 45month vet, although i did start at EU launch.
Just to make is easier: What is the maximum amount of time that a US account can run for by the time that Freedom is released.
What is the maximum amount of time that an EU account can have ran for by the time that Freedom is released.
The EU account will be around 10 months behind the US account, even if they subbed from day 1 for the game to be released in their region.
((I will admit, i do not know how those with the passport badge and their "sub time" works, if it was from the start of their US account, or from the start of the EU side.....)) -
Quote:I can understand for those who started *after* the release of the game... but unfortunately the game was not released until February 2005 in the EU.Yeah, and it's not fair to those of us who didn't start playing until later either! I mean, how was I supposed to know all this was coming 7 years ago? If I had known I totally would have subbed at launch and not let my sub lapse a few times.
Once again, those EU veterans who started from day 1 (EU side) get shafted (I am one of those who started at the very beginning, but i allowed my sub to slip a few times due to lack of money).
I guess that i am more annoyed over the fact that even if i had been subbing for the whole time frame, I still cannot get to Tier 9 status at launch of Freedom just because I am an EU player.
In fact the only EU players are those who started off on the US server, and then transferred their accounts over to EU side when the passport facility was open.
I guess that this is one of the problems of "splitting the community" at the start... especially as the game was only initially available *boxed* at the start (Note: In the UK, especially around the time that CoX launched, it was suprisingly easy to picked up box games for MMO's in most game stores) -

Quote:For all you know the screenshot could have been renamed to something else by massivelyI'm not sure about that. The screenshot in question is called "questgivers.jpg," and I know developers have a habit of calling things on their side by what they are and only giving the fancy, unique, specific names on the player-side of things, like how Devices is internally called Gadgets.
Dont automatically assume that the filenames stay the same.
And on the Devices part... it is not all that strange for internal projects to have slightly (or in some cases) wildy different names to their "public facing" name.
I know that Wizards Of The Coast used the name of Mac sound files for some of their their early expansions due to something quirky that happened when you opened folders that shared the same name as the sound file -
Quote:I am under the same impression as you as well >.<Interesting...
I swear there's a post in one of the early Freedom threads stating that multi-month subscriptions were likely to get the stipend points all at once (I want to say it was either a Z- or Posi-post, but I'm not sure about that and could well be misremembering who said it-), though a lot of other, general thread discussion has made it sound month-to-month since then.
I haven't seen anything that suggested the tokens would be given out all at once. The last time it was even mentioned as a possibility, people shot the idea down pretty quickly with reminders that the current Vet system doesn't work that way. (After all, I'd have my 60 month now if it did, rather than just the 48...) -
Quote:So that is contrary to what was mentioned earlier on about Paragon points, when they were 1st announced, because I thought it was at least confirmed by a red name (i forget who) that if you bought a year sub, you got ALL your Paragon Points up front.Incorrect. Paragon Points are awarded monthly on your "billing day", even if you have a multi-month subscription. However, it was specifically stated in the UStream with Posi and WW that *Reward Tokens* are front-loaded for multi-month subcribers. If you use a 3-month recurring sub, you will get three tokens at a time, one every three months. Everything is subject to change, of course, but that's the info we've been given.
I can see the "Vet" Reward Tokens though just being dolled out one per month... -
David Pyrons: 50 (+1) Alpha Cardiac T3, Judgement Pyro T1.
That is it. I have one other 50, but I am a single character kinda guy, so getting everything is my main focus, although I dont play enough. Speed isnt of the essence for me either -

I do find it strange that one of the prizes is Union only (effectively)... whilst the event is only being held on the Defiant server.

For those who want an EU version of CoV collectors
http://eu.plaync.com/eu/store/item/c...ctors_edition/
It has been up on the store for *quite a while* (as in at least 2 years) -
Going via the ticket method is more "regimented" in that they do have a list of stuff to go through before they can get to the nitty gritty (once you actually complete the 1st couple of stages for them getting all the info that they need).
Once they have done that, its more of a checklist of stuff to check through instead of taking a random stab in the dark right away (unfortunately its procedure)
On the flip side, although the forums have a method of sorts (ie coxhelper/dxdiag logs), we are more inclined to throw out the "oddball" answers.
ALSO, we (the forums) tend to have a far far wider range of experiance so that rare intermittent bug (that the help desk doesnt know how to solve) we MIGHT know how to solve just by pure numbers of people hitting a problem.
Oh, if its on the forums and your PC blows up, you cannot blame NCsoft....
Paragon/NCsoft also like you to use the ticket service, because it actually helps add to their knowledge base. Here, they have a LOT of different forums to trawl through (believe it or not, not everyone posts their tech issues inside this forum). -
The CoX CE was called the "deluxe" edition. It *was* released in the UK, but I have this sneaking suspicion that it was actually *all* the UK boxes. I have yet to see a non-deluxe edition of the base game (that wasnt GvE)
If you were looking for a big box (style of CoV) then I believe you are hideously out of luck. When NCsoft were running their shop at public events (which they did at the Omega Sektor), they had Collectors of their games available, including CoV, but no CoH "big style box" -
Wait for the patch to actually come online.
