Quote:If that happened, then they could *potentially* end up screwing themselves by allowing players to use their stipend every 3 months to buy a months sub (and as a result get 400 points). My suggestion is to let us buy sub-time through the paragon market, then compensate succesful referrers with 1200 points to buy it.
Infact, the only game that i know of that allowed players to buy game time off the "ingame" market only allowed it because it had to have been paid for by another player, and the value of the gametime for ingame currency was set by the players themselves.
Now saying all of the above, if they didnt include the monthly stipend in the subscription, i could see a month sub being available on the Paragon Market. -
Wait... i never bought the Architect Edition of the game...
Does this mean that i have been haxxoring the game since AE came out because i have used the AE? -
did you try changing the router that your ISP supplies you? I noticed (just by doing a quick google search, so not very indepth) that some people have complained about lag/ping issues with your ISP. Swapping out the router though seems to have alleviated the problem for them.
Also, people have generally complained about the "seasonal" lag that they appeared to be getting from your ISP as well...
Granted, as i said it was just a quick cursery look, but there is enough evidence to me that it could well be an ISP issue.
Note: Have you actually raised a ticket with NCsoft support to make sure of anything else. I know that they would probably run you through several stages that you might have already done, but it is better to be safe than sorry.
A few years ago, i had a faulty router/modem that althoguh i could play the game, i had constant drop outs/lag from it... the rest of the interwebs was fine, downloading was fine, but once i got a replacement router from them, i had no more problems from them... even my 8pm on a thursday night router/modem reboot was solved. -
i received my two tokens on Monday night/tuesday morning (as i said, i tend to subscrive at strange hours, so i normally give them a day or 2 to actually synch through)
No Paragon Points though, but as i had already recieved 400 for the month of September (and previous months), i figured that they replace the 400 that i would have recieved later on in the month. -
there is a slash command to change the window scaling, although its to change it on a "window by window" basis
Probably the best and easiest way to do this is to save your windows positioning... and then go and open wdw.txt (should be either in the root of your CoH install directory, or in the "data" directory.
now, when you open the file in notepad (or your favourite text editor) you will see lots of numbers

The number you want to change is the 5th one along, and you can replace the value you have with whatever else you want.

Quote:They were up from about 4pm...So yeah the servers are back up, but not the servers whose player base's prime time is about to start.... yay.
I have *just now* been kicked from my mission (mapserver problem), so i dont know as to *when* the server problem started. -
And just to point out that the servers are back up!
-
And just to point out, the servers are up now!
-
The thing is though, i am not bothered by scheduled downtimes...
I know that they do them when they do them for a reason...
If the servers kept on falling over repeatedly in spite of that (once the typical post Issue launch bugs are resolved) then yes, i do get annoyed with it, but i do have other games to complete as well before their sequals get released, so it gives me the chance to play them -
Ahh buggerit. i am going to play the game now instead of following the tit for tat...

Firefox 6.0.2
I do also have a password manager (Keepass) installed, so when i *do* have to relogin i just need to click one button.
I also have Firefox set to remember my history. I had closed down the browser between my previous post and this post....
As i said: each morning i load up the browser, and then login to the forums... I cannot seem to reproduce the "forced" logging out of the forums, which is why I am inclined to believe that it actually is a hard to find/reproduce bug -
Quote:Don't you mean that the forum db was screwed before the VIP upgrade process?I belong to many forums that use vBulletin and none of them have this issue.
Also, we already know that the forum db was screwed with during the VIP upgrade process. Cookies\Sessions are misconfigured.
I am actually angry to hear the devs blame Jelsoft.
Side note: I log in once a day (when i load up my browser) and I dont have to keep on relogging in. -
Well strangely enough although i had been hit by MARTy when i logged into the game last night on my 50, i did my normal stuff and by the time i was finished i was set free from MARTy...
Never did get to trip him again though, and even after logging in other characters they didnt get hit either... -
stick to tip missions....

Quote:Wouldnt it be handy for people to list their "rough" geographic location and ISP as well?AHURHURHUR.
Just because lag happens in other MMOs doesn't mean it has to be acceptable. I've been subscribed for over two years and never have I had this much of a problem. Now if you're not going to be serious, don't bother posting.
Personally, I am in the UK, and i havent had noticable lag in the game for a while... -
ah, I actually submitted a /bug and a /petition a couple of nights ago, they are actually different windows (different options available to mark it down under), although at a casual glance they do like the same
The /petition window actually has an option for harassment and a couple of others, whilst the /bug doesnt have them. They do also have a couple of options that are the same as well (IIRC).
I didnt get as many replies as you to them, instead they had separate incident numbers. -
It depends on if they need to take the account server down as well..... if that stays up then the forum access stays up (think about normal maintenance)

Quote:The time for Windows XP is already coming close... in just over 2 years Microsoft will not even be issuing security updates for it. Already there is *no* free help either, you have to pay for the tech help from M$ for it.The bigger issue, of course, is what about the future. I have a Mac that is incapable of running 10.7 (Lion) and a PC that, if it can run Windows 7, won't run it well. Will I someday hear "As of today, no more gaming for XP/Snow Leopard players"?
Now, on the flip side, i am not sure as to *when* the support ends for Mac Os X 10.5 (i tried googling, but for once my google-fu was weak), but developers probably recieved an email telling/confirming that the support would be ending soon... -
Quote:It could well have been due to the fact that MARTy seems to be trigger on players when they login to the game... it does clear after 10 minutes or so, but there is that problem. Looks like they have a fix for it though alreadyCan I trouble one of you tech experts to translate Freitag's post for me?
They discovered an issue that ... caused them to bring the servers back sooner than planned? Does that mean they had to abort the hardware upgrade (and therefore that they'll do it another time), or does it mean that somehow the upgrade turned out to be easier (faster) than they'd thought?
Just curious; it seems like an odd way to phrase a good event. -

Have an update on this one... known issue, and the problem that prevents us from getting it ingame, also prevents them from manually giving it to us.
Fix is due next week.
Send a /petition telling them about it, so that when the fix is applied, they can manually review everyone who has told them about this, to see if the problem has been resolved
*edit* I posted the reply before i saw the previous poster... interesting, but it looks like somehow I managed to mess something up so that they couldnt manually award it to me :S -
Quote:Regarding the treatment of the EU community:
- We still only get a maximum of a 6 month sub. (6+1 during promos.)
Compared to the NA 12 month (12+2). - Downtimes during peak hours.
- Accounts and Globals second place to NA ones.
- Even NA banned accounts took priority over EU paying accounts during the server list merger.
- And for those who are unaware the NA/EU lists were merged prior to both the Trial account rename and any opportunity for players with both NA & EU accounts to rename theirs as appropriate.
I'm still sore that I lost my global to a confirmed INACTIVE NA account.
- Find most events are in the early hours of the morning:
Last Thursdays and Mondays Costume Comps 1:30 AM BST! (2:30 AM CEST!)
I must however thank the DEVS for the earlier Friday one, 9:30 PM BST. - As for EU events, the only CoH one in Europe recently was an unofficial one!
Note the following 2 EU events that NCsoft will be attending...
And you guessed it NO Paragon Studios.
It would be nice to have a complementary gift or gesture of goodwill from Paragon Studios / NCsoft for all this.
1) I am *semi* certain that due to some stupid EU/UK regulation, that a 12 month subscription offer starts to constitute a contract, and that means that 18 year olds *cannot* subscribe to the game at that point in time.
2) Only when they overrun or are designated as "extended" do they start to hit into our peak time (ie 5pm onwards)... the *typical* downtime is normally over by 4pm... i do understand why players are annoyed at the moment as "short" downtimes seem to be in limited supply
3) Fair enough, i lost my Global as well (never seen the guy post on the forums either)...
4) If they are set to run on the "non" VIP american servers, i aint going to complain about the time frame. I do believe that the Exalted server events should have been ran at a more sensible time (or maybe twice at EU/US times), but with so many servers (i dont believe that all US servers are getting events either) it gets harder.
5) I believe that NCsoft are only going to be showing Guild Wars 2 and non of their other titles there (*possibly* something to do with Wildstar but i do not know).
Considering the timing of the events, i think it would have been a bad move for PS to hit them in a "heavy" fashion. Now if there was a UK gaming event that was during the summer months (no later than Leipzig Games con.. maybe a couple of weeks later) I would tell them to get their *** into gear and move it there...
And strangely enough, what we have now is a total reversal of what was happening a few years ago of when the EU had all the events/playermeets with staff, and the US players had *nothing*
Note: There have been 2 EU "unoffical" player meets in the UK in the past year(ish): one just happened, and one the year previously... and we are looking at possible venues for next years (if it does happen), and to be honest, we have had *no-one* from Paragon Studio's attend them either... a guy from Ncsoft yes, but not a member of Paragon Studios - We still only get a maximum of a 6 month sub. (6+1 during promos.)
