  1. When I play my blasters, and get smushed, I just rez up and keep going. I have no problems taking my butt kicking.

Last night I didn't even run leadership.

I got AS'ed, I just rezzed and totally ignored the attacker.

But once I hunted long enough, and filled my tray, that same stalker came around and I blew him up twice real good....muhahahaha.

No, I refuse to leave PvP zones and get inspirations, I get my inspirations by hunting in the PvP zone. The tray fills up fast and they tend to be bigger ones.
  2. I think fury in PvP should be fixed.
And in PvP: I don't fear stalkers, not with my scrapper, not with my rad defender, not with my empath defender, and certainly not with my blaster.

But I definitely fear the brutes. Even without fury, I think Brutes are NAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAASTY!!!

And now the Issues are getting smaller and even less frequent? Issue-7 was a lame duck that should come out of Crytic's pockets, not ours. Boasting an increase in subscription numbers while shrinking the Development team down to a skeleton crew while still charging the same price is unnacceptable. I think I've seen enough... I'm tired of getting screwed. This game's potential has finally decreased the the point that it fails to balance the monthly cost and time investment.

I'll be back when/if they ever come around and accept their share of the burden.

  4. I already earn the right to have a superbase. I bought both COH and COV and the GvE edition.
I pay my monthly (yearly actually) fee to play.
Paying rent is an 'in-game' membership to be in the SuperGroup 'club'. If I fail to pay my rent, I get locked out of my 'clubhouse'.
I don't think this is right.
I think getting rid of rent would expand the number of super groups.
  5. Hmmm...
    Rad is my specialty.
    I've never done fire.
I might just have to roll me one muhahahahaha.

    Nifty Trick

    Nifty
She's my new illusion/storm controller. I haven't written her in-game bio yet, but she got her name from a comment made by a rescued mugging victim after she made the wind blow hard enough to pin the thug to a wall until police arrived. Bonus points to anyone who knows where I -actually- got the name (hint: it's from a movie).

I'd be up for that. Pre 41 is when both sides are more balanced, so that's not a bad idea really. Anything past that you see the pure difference between the villains and the heroes. No matter what you guys try to believe, villain PPPs are just horrible in comparison to the hero epics.

It may also give you an idea of what I was talking about regarding powerset balance. Seriously, roll an energy blaster, then try an ice blaster - you'll see the glaring differences. Play with fly versus combat jumping as well.

There's a fear out there that the invention system will throw things even further out of whack too.

I think a lot of this game's potential lingers on issue 9, and we'd like to see it hopefully sooner than later because a lot of us are getting pretty depressed at the current PvP situation, and PvE isn't doing it for a lot of us anymore. I still do some PvE, but rarely with anyone but friends and I find myself logging off when they're not on now.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    I totally agree.

Hmmmm, I'd have to say that Fly is my favorite. 3 slotted with level 50 SOs makes it...awesome! It's great for out flying those stupid stalkers in PvP.

    I love fly too.

C-Lab's Guide to the PvP Empathy Defender...

    [/ QUOTE ]

    --- SNIP ---

This is the WORST Empath Guide I think I've EVER read in my life.

    Here's MINE:

    Heal Aura
    Description: PBAoE Team +Heal
Comments: One of the biggest positives to being an empath is your survivability. Heal aura is a big part of this. Not too much to say about this power. Use it when your not at full health.

Recommended Slotting: 3x Heals, 3x Recharge

    Heal Other
    Description: Ally Heal
Comments: The staple Heal of the set. Use this as patchwork for your team. The heal isnt nearly as good as it used to be before ED, but it is still very potent. You will use this power more then any other.

Recommended Slotting: 3x Heal, 1x End, 2x Recharge

    Absorb Pain
Description: Ally Strong +Heal, Self Moderate DMG, Self (-Heal)
Comments: One of the most important powers in the set, Absorb Pain is what defines empathy as hands down the best healing set in the game. Not a power you want to be spamming all the time, but AP will allow you to make a life saving heal from red to full health. Do not use this power unless one of your teammates is really really hurting. It can fully heal a squishy and this is where it should be used. The most satisfying moment in an empaths life is when he steals that kill from the opposing team by fully healing a teammate with one power.

Recommended Slotting: 2x Heal, 2x Range, 2x Recharge

    Resurrect
    Description: Ally Rez
Comments: This is a crucial PvP power because it means a player does not have to respawn in the Hospital and with 1 HP. EVERY PvP player that can take a rez SHOULD.

    Recommended Slotting: N/A

    Clear Mind
Description: Ally +Res (Disorient, Hold, Sleep, Immobilize, Confuse, Fear) +Perception
Comments: Absolutely vital power. This power allows blasters, scrappers and everyone else destroy dominators and stalkers.

    Recommended Slotting: 3x Range

    Fortitude
    Description: Ally +DEF, +DMG, +ACC
Comments: This power allows players to have DEFENSE against PSIONIC ATTACKS. Vital to PvP.

Recommended Slotting: 4x Membranes or 3x Recharge, 3x TohitBuffs

    Recovery Aura
    Description: PBAoE +Recovery
Comments: End recovery buff. Very popular.

Recommended Slotting: 3x Recharge, 1x End Redux, 2x End Recovery

    Regen Aura
    Description: PBAoE +Regeneration
Comments: Health recovery buff. Very useful.

Recommended Slotting: 3x Recharge, 3x Heal

    Adrenaline Boost
    Description: Ally +Recovery, +Regeneration, +Recharge, +Res (Slow)
Comments: The most powerful single target buff in COH. Get it, use it, love it.

Recommended Slotting: 3x Recharge, 3x Heal

    Blast Secondary

This depends on what you like. I would suggest at LEAST 3 attacks from you're secondary. When a kinetics ramps up syphon power and such, its almost a shame not to impart that damage onto the enemy. Help your kinetic friends out...fight! You are NOT a blaster, but you CAN take down an enemy that is hurt. Also, pay attention to the secondary effects of the blast set chosen as they can HINDER an enemy enough to bring them down.

    POWER POOLS

    ---Speed---
Hasten is optional, get it if you like the speed route or skip it and team with a kinetic instead for Speed Boost.
The other speed powers are your choice.

    ---Fitness---
Fitness is a waste of 3 power slots in PvP. A toon is lucky to live longer than 90 secs. in PvP. Take stamina if you like, but NEVER substitute for LEADERSHIP.

    ---Leaping---
This pool is decent in PvP. I find the set less than thrilling, even with the Knockback defense from Acrobatics. I just like to be able to STAY in the air.

    ---Teleport---
Recall friend is very useful in PvP. It allows getting a player from the hospital back into battle fast. Also good for rez.
Teleport is the fastest travel in the game.

    ---Fly---
    Hover is great for teleport.
Fly allows fast (although not the fastest) travel in all 3 axis.
Group Fly is OK for PvP if you want to shuttle around teammates and great for Hammi raids and such. Personally, I don't care for it...but I DO like the visual effect of the power.
Air superiority - good quick extra attack.

    ---Concealment---
Grant Invisibility - Excellent for teaming. Use it on the blaster and turn him into an invisible stalker killer.
Stealth and Invisibility are great for reducing the effective range on enemies tp foe and snipes and such.
Phase Shift is great for escape and avoiding mez powers as well as 'baiting' an enemy into wasting attacks on your toon while phased. Turn on invisibility to hide the fact you are phased for REAL FUN hehehehe.

    ---Leadership---
If you are a defender without leadership...YOU STINK. Take Assault and Tactics (required) AND Vengeance (optional), if EVERYONE is a Super Team oriented toon, take maneuvers as well. You'll thank yourself when an ally falls, you fire vengeance, rez your fallen comrade and give him fortitude and clear mind and adrenaline boost...

    Epic Power Pools
Take any epic pool you like all will provide a different 'flavor' of defender.

Simple Ways to make your life last longer between PvP defeats.

    1) Always keep moving.
    2) Use invisiblity/Stealth/etc.
    3) Stay near NPCs on your side. If you are attacked, they will respond to the attacker and help you out.
    4) When attacked, try to break line of sight.
    5) If you can't beat your enemy, make it really difficult for them to defeat you by moving around the zone.
    6) Fight PvE enemies in the zone, they cough up isnpirations.
    7) Get the PvP zone temp stealth, inviso, and hyperphase powers, they are FREE and they work well.
    8) Team with people. The more on your team, the better a defender's chance of living
    9) Team with a scrapper that has his taunt.
    10) Team with a tanker that has his taunt.
    11) Hide inside of another players AOE powers like hurricane to cut down on aggro.
    13) Have 3 defenders on your team...its golden!
    14) Keep the blaster alive long enough and he'll DEFEAT EVERYONE!
  16. Fantastic Guide! Should be required reading for EVERY COH player. ..but NOT COV...they should NOT get any ideas...muhahahaha.

There’s been a ton of discussion regarding Patron Power Pools, so I thought I’d at least give you a perspective from the design end.

    [/ QUOTE ]

How about later on creating Independent Power Pools, where unlocking the pool is a trial?

Also, how about a jumping flip animation for my toon when acrobatics is toggled on? That would be nice.

I also want to do barrel rolls and THROTTLE my movement.

Finally, Instead of recoding all the basic archetypes for power customization, code a slottable selectable 9 power primary/9 power secondary definable archetype. Not to mention, a RANDON archetype, that would have unknow powers until they actually unlocked them.
  19. [ QUOTE ]
You know, for *once* I completely love a piece of design by the devs, and what happens?

    Everyone else hates it.

I like the Patron Powers, I like the reddish electricity, it's cool all around, imho. Sadly, hardly anyone seems to agree.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I LOVE the patron pool powers. They seem EXACTLY what I had in mind when I first thought about them. They will do exactly what they did in COH: Give EVERY TOON the CHOICE to ROUND OUT their build.

And its nice that the PPPs will have charged armor so I can finish and build my well-rounded VILLAIN version of my RAD/RAD defender Muhahahahaha. (Of course, he's not REALLY a villain...Rico, that scummy drug dealer framed him and...), of course I'm NOT taking the henchman power, Reactor doesn't have flunkies.

The reason players don't agree with you is they are the SAME players that make a scrapper and forget what TAUNT is.

No matter how many times I heard "We'll never balance PVE around PVP" I always knew this would happen.

    [/ QUOTE ]
If anybody ever said "We'll never balance PvE around PvP," it wasn't a person with any authority. Statesman has said several times that they prefer to not balance that way and that they try to avoid it, but he made no guarantees.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yes but again this shows why NON pvpers despise pvp so damn much.

IT sucks the life out of the pve game even if you never touch pvp.

Pvp stinks, it never helps and usually hurts and adds to the game for very very few people.

Go to any pvp zone and listen to crickets chirp.

    [/ QUOTE ]

As a Champions player that has played COH from the beginning. I can only say WRONG. PvP RULES! It shows exactly who can REALLY be a super crime fighter. Anyone can perform cookie cutter repetitive combat strategies against computer AI baddies. I waited for a YEAR for PvP because the best AI in the game to fight against is another player. Every one of my toons are built for PvP and guess what? They all kick butt in PvE missions as well. I'm sure that with the hurricane power changes, everyone will come up with new cookie cutter repetitive strategies for amassing XP in the name of 'getting to 50 as fast as humanly possible'. Here's an idea for helping with your stormie nerf complaints: get a tanker on your team.

After George Bust... err, Bush, began to use the phrase "stay the course". I pretty much learned to dislike the phrase. No difference here, except for a month or two of my Seeker Drones being less effective, then a nice large leap.

Still leaves a bitter taste, but it's betterr than what Bush force-fed us.

Now, watch as this topic explodes into a ball of political flames, and States escapes scott-free.

Sure, but is 6 slotting it now as much of an improvement as it was prior to ED?

You said you couldn't. Couldn't and wouldn't don't mean the same thing.

    [/ QUOTE ]

You are mincing words. My intent was to show that 6 slotting of stamina prior to ED had a much greater return than it does 6 slotting it now. Everyone knows you can still 6 slot any power.

    [/ QUOTE ]

And that is the entire problem with pre-ED COH. The fact was, in the old days, 6 slotting hasten and 6 slotting stamina gave BETTER returns per slot than 6 slotting other powers. That made those 12 slots more 'valuable' than 6 slotting powers in primaries and secondaries. In other words, everyone 6 slotted hasten and stamina, because 6 slotting an attack didn't have the same game payout, slot per slot, than those two powers had. That is why I have always been supportive of ED.

Now, when a player is fighting purples, it does mean something. It means the character is going to have a tough skirmish on their hands.
