Imagine, 2 scrappers and a tank facing 2 stalkers
[/ QUOTE ]
A stone tank with mud pots would upset the stalkers, 2 scrappers stay within the PBAoE. An Ice tank running perhaps chilling embrace (not sure on that one thou). A fire tank laying down burn I think it is, although my pref is for the stone tank. Can a Stalker one shot a stone tank with rooted and Granite armour on? -
[ QUOTE ]
I demand that every one only uses sprint to travel around the PvP zones they should have no toggels running and the only attack they are allowed to use on me is brawl every 20 secs. I feel that this will make things fiar for my controller in the pvp zone I might be able to kill some one with help then but dont expect it to be quick.
[/ QUOTE ]
I demand that when I'm in a PvP zone with my empath, everyone line up and form an orderly queue, drop their toggs and let me use my 2 attacks to slowly kill them. I'm slotted with end drain so the killing is gona take a tad longer that what you are use to. Also, if your a regen, I'm afraid that you cannot possibly be in the queue as it will take me days or possibly weeks with auto, therefore you must find yourself the nearest enemy turret and throw yourself upon it for my own pleasure. -
[ QUOTE ]
lets just send that SG in that apparently took down hamidon with 5 people
[/ QUOTE ]
How did they get over Hammi's regen rate and 99% resistance to everything with only 5 ppl? -
[ QUOTE ]
will you settle for a Danish blonde G?
[/ QUOTE ]
*Any* Nordic blonde is good enough for me Arch -
[ QUOTE ]
On another note, im slightly disappointed not seeing the holdless strategy in the works yet.
[/ QUOTE ]
Already got that worked out, just need to move it from head to paper. Can predict mitos spawn and best angles of attack on Hammi as well.
You are correct, mitos spawn at two points, 1st @ 50%, 2nd @ 20%(ish). -
[ QUOTE ]
indeed there are many very experienced PVP players who can testify I go to great lengths to get them as opposed to a easy kill.
[/ QUOTE ]
I can personally vouch for that seeing as I'm on the 'hit list'. When I know Stalkobot is in the zone I am more nervous and alert, I get a lot of pleasure from that (perversed I know), but I feel its a great learning experience for me personally which is going to contribute a great deal for when I do my next respect.
As to the original post which was aimed at Defenders not being equal to other ATs. Thats not our role to stand toe to toe with a tank/scrapper etc. We buff/debuff, we hand advantage to our side, sometimes at the cost of our own lives. We make other players go from hard to damn right nearly impossible to kill. Defenders always play a support role within a team (as our Acc & Dam generally sucks anyways), no other AT provides a greater percentage buffs/debuffs like us. Defenders are dangerous when used by ppl who understand how to use them.
I seriously think its wrong to take away Stalkers 1 shot kill ability, and I'm personally against it. I hope Statesman's post is not a kneejerk reaction to comments from ppl who feel they are being left behind within PvP itself. -

Hami holds like any other villain I think, just on a larger scale. This means he has a magnitude hold resistance which needs to be overcome first, the kicker is that once this is overcome you must also maintain that magnitude otherwise he'll break out. Essentially, you need to have enough holding power to keep him held and then enough recharge to replace every hold that is on him before that previous version of that hold runs out.
Herein lies the ED issue, both recharge and hold duration play directly into the magnitude of hold you can put on Hamidon. A basic example might be that with three recharge and three hold instead of six recharge you could apply the hold for half the time but twice as often. However, recharge enhancements and buffs give diminishing returns since unlike hold duration they don't enhance from the base value everytime. This means that we are able to essentially floor recharge rate using Accelerate metabolism and still have a 200% boost to hold duration. Now however, we lack the ability to boost hold duration and are unable to reduce recharge rate further so that puts everyone in quite a pickle since there aren't really any other factors that affect our ability to hold him.
There may be hope however. On the issue 5 raid I helped lead, there was a spectacular (and lagtacular) turnout because there was such a long wait between it and the previous raid. We were able to hold Hamidon with the controller turnout without great use of the vanguard medal which boosts hold durations for 1 minute. Reinforcing with holding/attacking blasters after the hold began to stick, it's possible that we could have held Hami with just the sparing initial use of the vanguard medals that Dave Pyrons called for. In Hamidon raids past the real trick was to activate the Vangurads just before 50% to make sure he had no chance of breaking out.
Onto the point though, the Vanguard is an effective way of boosting hold duration, if enough holders turn up to overcome Hami's hold resistance but he keeps breaking out then a simultaneous vanguard surge could provide enough hold duration boost to hold him for I'd say about a minute and a half before he broke out after the vanguards had worn off and total hold magnitude began to decrease again. If we have enough heroes to defeat Hami in about a minute flat the jelly could be ours.
Best case scenario's still about 40 controllers though.
[/ QUOTE ]
Aye, he does. But its bit different from the normal AV.
1) Mitos spawn can be predicted.
2) Holds should be able to be stacked quicker than before..if u know how holds work.
3) Hammi does not need a holding strategy to be beaten, considering that was a Defiant strategy you nicked in the first place
Union. You know who to ask for advice. Just open the mouth -
[ QUOTE ]
pre-ED most hami-holders had their holds 6x hold, meaning a rough 200% hold, according to your calculation, if we 6slot now its 110%, so we need to increase amount of holders with 90%? Of course not everybody had 6slots, but we just judge on the general setup that worked. If you also read my post copied from the US boards that after ED 29 trollers + 50+ epics couldnt hold him, I think that 40 is a bit off
[/ QUOTE ]
Nope. Hold durations meant nothign 'cept how long the holds lasted. Nothing more.
Hold duratiom meant exactly that.'Hold' 'Duration'. It was the length of the hold, not the strength of the hold, as that was already determined by testing and the US boards.. -
[ QUOTE ]
Everyone knew abut this?
[ QUOTE ]
It hasn't been definitively proven if this has been changed, but Hamidon used to have higher mez resistance the more people were standing in the goo. This may or may not be true now. But even if this has been changed, having more people around the controllers does make their lives difficult in other ways, in particular by adding more lag around them.
[/ QUOTE ]
[/ QUOTE ]
Aye, knew about this. Its a myth. Tested within a number of Hammi raids, yet still unproven. Confirmed by the big man himself. -
Really? Killed 4 MM bubblers in BB the other night, repeatedly....
I love bubbs...ppl think it protects them from harm -
hehe Rock Eagle, maybe I should grab my scrapper thats on Union and give your theory a test
I'll get the beers lined up first thou... -
LOL.Were you the Brute who was TPin the other night in SC but couldn't kill an empath despite chasing (and TPin) said empath all the way round the map? Or I got you confused with another Brute?
-
I agree Dimension.
Anyone who has to team with TG knows his binds. This man does not TP a single target, but a bloody host of them into the team.I do 54 dam, max, in a PvP zone. People think that joining TGs team is a breeze. Well bugger U. It an't. We are merely the conveyor belt of TGs success. I wanna badge for teaming with TG (well Talin). You think its *easy* killing you all *before* the next target has arrived.
Well think again. I wanna new job. Chimmeys or mines are looking pretty sweet atmm, less chance of dying... -
[ QUOTE ]
I'm very bad at PvP. Especially in Siren's thanks to my last sloppy respec @ 37.
[/ QUOTE ]
That. Literally. Says it all. -
Sry, at work, hardly any time to keep up with the overall thread.
As for 'complaining'. If you accuse others of not being 'grown up' about particular aspects, you are merely invalidating your 'observations'. You could have posted without any reference to the age, mental or otherwise, of other players. You did not. Therefore by making such a reference you are 'complaining' rather than 'observing' and henceforth the correct use of 'English'.
Observation is purely based on witnessing an event/action/person without injecting your own personal trait labelling. The fact that you pepper your posts by refering to others as 'childlike' or lacking skills in reading English means that you cannot engage on an constructive debate and take/give points without feeling that you must be condescending in order to get others to submit to what you are saying.
I have also been AS'd by a stalker 4 times in SC. I commend him for it, and feel no hardship towards him. I was in the zone, I was a target, if I didn't like what he was doing I had the option to leave the zone. Also my empath has no chance against any other AT solo, so why should i grief at a player who was just playing in the zone as he should? -

[ QUOTE ]
Tbh by the sounds of it you are just gutted that your 'Uber' Regen got flattened by a squishy Stalker
[/ QUOTE ]
And you'd be wrong, I don't have a fragile PvP ego that requires me to hammer ppl with PvE builds to prove what a great player I am.
[/ QUOTE ]
But your ego is fragile enough for you to post a complaint on the boards after each night that you have been killed.
In reference to your first post, most 'grown ups' take situations that turn badly 'on the chin', also most 'grown ups' don't wine and moan about the bad situation they are in, they attempt to make the situation better or walk away from it entirely (and maybe come back to it later).
Accusing others of being 'childish' just because *you* are throwing your toys out of your pram is not basis for constructive debate.
And big shout to obot who was the only villian to kill me in BB last night. Cheers for the PMs dude, no harm done in the other thread. -
[ QUOTE ]
recalling some predicitons of mine
[/ QUOTE ]
Which were....? -
This is getting silly. I'm not re-writing previous posts, or pointing them out or anything else coz I can't be bothered. Just scroll up and read the thread. If you have something to add, then fine, post away or not. Your choice. I'm off to a PvP zone in-game with my empath.
Just in answer to your "don't know who they are". I know who they are because I have either teamed with them (the heroes), or have seen them about and checked their lvl/builds etc as my hero. Including your good self. -
[ QUOTE ]
you cant say that as you dont know what lvl MM you are fighting
[/ QUOTE ]
Ok. Lvl 15 Corrupters slotted with TOs and a few DOs kills quite a few lvl 50 ATs in bloody bay. Therefore I *can* say that because I *do* know.
[ QUOTE ]
an equivalent lvl and slotted MM would tear an empath a new one.
[/ QUOTE ]
No. See above. -
[ QUOTE ]
What level MM's were you fighting? If ive seen Tanks being ripped to shreds by MMs with slotted Assault bots i'd say your empath would take a teeny weeny bit more damage than they would however much you can heal yourself.
[/ QUOTE ]
Comparative lvl to the PvP zone that I'm in. And no. My empath does not take a lot of dam from them even when I'm being targeted by all the MMs pets.
As for the tanks you saw being ripped apart, you must have witnessed seom really bad tanks. Tanks are annoying in PvP because their health makes killing them take that much longer. I'd say either you have either confused ATs, or saw tanks getting done after toggle drop, but even then it wouldn't be a quick death (i.e tank has time to get toggs back on)
Truth is that MMs cant kill an empath even with all their pets targeted. MMs don't even bother me in a PvP zone, any other villian AT I keep moving to stay alive and spam heal. MMs..I grab a beer, pull up a chair and hit heal every so often. -
[ QUOTE ]
Yah i know that and again I still say that higher MM's will be a threat.
[/ QUOTE ]
To put it into context. My empath can jump into a horde of MM pets, stand there and buff other players, even have time to target and buff non-teamed players, launch a heal and I'm fine again (healing for 260ish, their pets do very little dam).
MMs r quite simply rubbish in PvP, and if an empath is not troubled by them wotsoever, I hardly think any other AT is going be either. -
Congraz Dimension! Ya know I would have been able to keep you alive more if it wasn't for TG yelling "HEEEEEEEEELLLD" or "End buff", or if the conversation didn't suddenly stray into the area of "Lube and the most desired application of said substance".
Hope to see ya for that drink when everything dies down, I'll be able to catch up on everything I missed with your PB while I was within that Wilderness known as Onions.
Oh yeah, Arms is back. Haven't seen him yet (hes at work 2morrow), but he's probably sporting a smile from here to India. -
Congraz Chesty!! One of the funnest nights I've had so far. The TG express did forget to pick you up at one stage and I still have issues with some of the pushing and shoving by some of the other passengers (Blue Rabbit, I'm looking at you
). The commentary by Dark Patriot was, as always, pure class "I hope you ding on this one" (the first GM that went down). And TG singlehandedly pushing up my old Empaths healing scores. I should get a badge just for healing him..

The good feeling I get is from overcoming an obstacle while honoring sportsmanship and fair play. There is no reason to revert to a caveman just because of some competition.
[/ QUOTE ]
The poor caveman. Develops tools. Develops hunter gather techniques which are still used today for survival training. Understands and manipulates fire for a whole range of purposes which completely alters the future course of his own existance and those of his descendants from other animals. Lay off the caveman.
A Spartan saying from Mother to Son about their version of honour went like "Come home with this shield or upon it". There are different versions of honour, you obviously have yours. -
[ QUOTE ]
I've got extreme trouble picturing it. And you're about to tell me villains were over the hero base killing everything that moves?
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes, of course. Its the only way to get the Heroes to actually come out and fight sometimes. It was our team that set the whole thing off in Bloody Bay. The heroes didn't believe that there were a team of villians in the zone, then they couldn't believe that we were killing 10 heroes for every one of us dying. We were also outnumbered 2-1 at least.
