grieve ( P ) Pronunciation Key (grv)
v. grieved, griev·ing, grieves
v. tr.
To cause to be sorrowful; distress: It grieves me to see you in such pain.
To mourn or sorrow for: We grieved the death of our pastor.
Usage Problem. To file an official or formal grievance on account of (an actual or perceived injustice).
Archaic. To hurt or harm

Yup thats me. I don't kill you in PvP to cause you pleasure or happy fluffy feelings. When I kill you I take great pleasure of thinking how much pain and discomfort I'm causing you

Can you seriously claim that YOU don't have that little devil on your shoulder whispering how nice it would be to see that particular person dead over and over again or try that well known "cheat" just once to see how much fun it is? I mean everyone else is doing it... why can't I? Ooooh and it's so much fun when you succeed in it.

But then eventually comes the time where you on the receiving side of that mean trick and you start to think how unfair that trick is! This must surely be wrong! I must post it in the forums and make sure how awfull and terribly unbalanced the PvP is and how it is possible to use those kinds of "tactics"?

More than once I'v come across a person who first have became a victim of a nasty trick, then posted on the forums or shouted on broadcast how unfair everything is... but wait a second. Theres that person again and uh oh... hes using that same trick himself now. hmmm hehe so goes the human nature.

I think its PvP. EVERY nasty trick, tactic, power and so on is allowed within the limits of game mechanics.

Whats my point then? It's ok to point out the issues which might need some improvement or balancing but at the same time try to remember that theres never going to be real balance and people will keep using those dirty tricks in PvP and theres always some AT thats "overpowered".

I also think that theres always going to be "grievers" and you are willingly subjecting yourself to them when you enter PvP zone.

Dont expect "fair" game

And that's why PvP will always be a minority pastime.

The barren wasteland almost devoid of activity that is Warburg would seem to support this.

thats not a valid arguement..and u ll see as soon as high level villains get more and more what kind of wasteland Warburg will be turned into.

Warburg seems a bit deserted now, but I think thats only because thers not that many high level villains yet. Lots of action in Bloody Bay though. I think those same people will be coming to Warburg as soon as they reach the right levels.

i have tp, so said tactic (or unsaid) doesnt really bother me. and /stuck ftw maybe?

i go to warburg enough to have the badge for 5 hours there, and i think ive had it a while, not sure when i even got it.

i tend to go steal codes from ppl there, risk reward etc. pvp is massively unbalanced and as such a far great challenge than any mission or AV i ever fought.

That's an odd thing to say. Does a boxer feel good for winning a fight because he hurt the opponent or simply for winning the fight? In PvP, I don't really think about how the enemy feels. The good feeling I get is from overcoming an obstacle while honoring sportsmanship and fair play. There is no reason to revert to a caveman just because of some competition.

Sadly, there are many, many people like him. There are forums, dedicated to grievance PVP, or PK's, as they are generally refered to (PK = Player Killer, for those who have the pleasure of not having come across them yet.).

The main forums for English speakers, is a site called PKHQ. There are over a 100.000 registered users, and all they do all day, is natter about how great it is to destroy someone's gaming experience. I have dealt with them, a few of them would on a regular basis cause chaos and destruction on a NwN server called Tharcion we ran.

So next time Bridger comes out with a statement like that PVP doesn't lead to this kind of behavour, or that these people don't exist, go do a google search on PKHQ and read the horror that is recorded there. Each game has its own thread. Have fun...

[/ QUOTE ] Thank god no! I hate the customers. Dear god... Iv tried that couple of times but they always make me think murder. Now I'm happily locked in my little office box where I run several UNIX systems. I still have to contact customers every now and then but luckily i have read all the BOFH stories and I now know what to do with those annoying "users". Iv teached them to dread the moment when "that awfull man from the box" decides to give em a call.

Sounds a lot like [Myg0t] as well. They're primarily CS based, but they branch out into other games too. Their website has all kinds of malicious tools as well, such as ones that let you crash someone elses CS server.

Griefer (colloq.): someone who 'gives grief' i.e. causes others to grieve or possible develop a grievance.

Actually, there's a documented phenomenon of words being sort of concatenated. Two similar sounding words become one of them, usually the most well known one.

I'd expect Griefer to slowly become Griever over time, with the original meaning obscure.

Magnet and Magnate are a common example of this, btw. People are described as an "Industry Magnet" instead of "Industry Magnate". It's kind of funny when you think about it.

The poor caveman. Develops tools. Develops hunter gather techniques which are still used today for survival training. Understands and manipulates fire for a whole range of purposes which completely alters the future course of his own existance and those of his descendants from other animals. Lay off the caveman.

A Spartan saying from Mother to Son about their version of honour went like "Come home with this shield or upon it". There are different versions of honour, you obviously have yours.
