This is the version without the baby graphic. Yeah, you can just check your SG/VG sign-up time but there are those like myself who do not belong to any SG or VG so that option is out. This is only a simple way to keep track of when our toons were born/made/rolled/created. Someone suggested that when there are updates that this would wipe this info out. This would not be the case. The born date would be added to your profile when you enter your toons name. Thus, it will follow your toon unless you delete them.
-
-
I originally posted this in the "Player Questions" area titled "Born Date?" then I was still kicking the idea of this before I ran off to get some breakfast and hot coffee to wake me up...lol.
This example is just one idea I thought about. Having the Born Date next to each toons title line. I know there are other ways people figure out when their toons were born, such as SG join dates, badge or achievement dates. I think though, that this would really simplify things up by having this on the main screen. You can shuffle your toons around according to birth date. I have found that I may create a toon then putter out with them around certain levels only to create a new toon that I level past my old toon.
So, this is just one idea that I thought about when I couldn't sleep last night. I know, I know, you would have thought that maybe I could devote myself to waking up and finding ways to end Global Warming or bring World Peace. But, I thought this was much more important..heheThe illustration is that of a baby girl with a bow in her hair as all of my toons are women. For the guy toons you can have a baby boy next to your male toons title lines.
-
Well, I couldn't sleep so I thought I might as well get up as I was thinking about this as I tried to go back to bed.
You would have thought that maybe I would have awoke to such concerns like Global Warming, The Economy or maybe World Peace but no, I awoke to a question I had on my Toons....lolAs of Jan. 2009, I rolled 10 Toons. I pretty much know which one was my first, second, third and maybe forth toon. After that, it gets kind of fuzzy. I used to move them in ranking on the server page before you log your toon into their zones, but after starting new toons and some toons passing others while reaching level 50, I forgot which order they were rolled/born/created.
Out of my 10 Toons, 8 are level 50, one a level 37 and one I just started up with Dual Pistols is level 12. I do know that you can view the badge section in your drop down menu to see when you received that badge, but it seems that over time some of the older badges and achievement dates will be replaced with new ones to make more space.
So, is there "another" easier way to find out your toons date of birth? If not, I would also then like to throw this one into "Suggestions and Ideas" section about adding the born date right on the main page with all your toons. I think it would be kind of a novel idea showing the date of birth, don't you guys think? -
Quote:I started my first MM out as Bots/Traps about eight months ago. At the time, i myself never played a MM and went to the boards like you looking for advice. I had to ask around because the reality was I didn't know how difficult it might be to control those kind of pets, even though I had a Controller with Phantom Army and Phantasm. Needless to say, I am happy with that first choice. Right now, I'm at level 50 and running solo +0/+8 mish'es with no problems. The only bugaboo that I would say is I would probably should have slotted my "Equip Robot" and "Upgrade Robot" with more end mod enhancements. They suck the life out of your end like a drunken sailor. When I am in the heat of battle and spawning my pets after they die, I would hope to have enough blues to pop to combat that problem.Dear ladies and gents,
I rolled my first mastermind earlier being a ninja/poison build. I tried to read as much as possible on which road I should take but I was wondering which the most newcomerfriendly and safes mastermind combo is. Some say robotics are great while others advise thugs. Dilemma ;-)
All tips/pointers are greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!
So, I would say this might be a good place to start but because I have not rolled the other MM sets, I really cannot give you a good comparison. I am also thinking of rolling another MM and some have suggested Ninjas but I am not sure on this. I want "total" control and not have to worry about my pets running off like dogs in the park chasing after rabbits...lol. -
After about 7 plus months since my level 50 MM Bots/Traps was born, I was thinking about rolling another MM. Being that my Bots/Traps was my first MM, I am happy with the damage output my bots can bring to the table. I only really went the Bots route as others suggested that is the best MM to start out with to learn the ropes of playing a MM.
My play style is one of action, meaning I always participate with my pets versus just sitting and watching them beat people up. For the past couple of weeks now I've been running -0/+8 mish'es solo with really no problem waltzing through these guys.
The thing I need to know and find out is, are all the other MM Primary Sets Mercenaries, Necromancy, Ninjas and Thugs set-up pretty much in the same type of format?: For example, my Bots are broken down with 3 Battle Drones (the little guns damage), 1 Assault Bot (the big guns damage) and 2 Protector Bots (healers & some damage). Total Pets = 6 not counting things like Battle Drones or other portable devices. I would say the only real pain I go through is always having to "Equip" my Bots and "Upgrade" them and during battle, can be a bear on the end drain.
So, with that being said, can you guys recommend another good MM that will allow me to spawn my pets, but not have to constantly "Equip" them with upgrades or are all of them set-up with this feature so there really is no choice on what group I pick? I would love to have pets that can do as much damage output as my Bots but not sure the other groups can compare? Any good suggestions of what New Primary Set I should take and with what Secondary Set would be wonderful. I know everyone will have their favorite builds but I think there has to be a consensus among the pack to what works best. -
It's been a real long time since I tried to do this so I forgot the strategy on getting that missile to launch. I took my level 50 MM Bots/Traps (converted to level 38 in Warburg Zone) and was gathering up the scientists and dropping them off at the the blinking terminals. Every time I would click on a blinking terminals it would say I "need to rescue more lab technicians in order to get the codes". Does each terminal require a certain amount of lab techs in order to get the codes?
So, in a nutshell, what "is" the exact strategy to launch the missile? Thanks to all who reply. -
Quote:Read my other post in "Market & Inventions" section titled "My First Rare Purple". I am currently running mish'es at -1x8 based on what paragonwiki says and what others have posted, it is more random but the larger the mobs the greater the chance of getting rare purple drops. So far, I ran approx 10 mish'es at full mobs (x8) and got a ton of rare salvages but have yet to get a rare purple.Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't mobs need to be lvl 50 at least for purples to drop?
-
Since I've been playing my now level 50 MM Bots/Traps for the past 7 months, I do believe there is a slight bias against MM's with pets. Currently, I am doing solo -1x8 mish'es to work toward some rare purple drops. Out of all my nine other Toons, my MM probably has the easiest time to go x8 alone. When I have been invited to a team, no one has told me I couldn't use my pets. If that was the case, I'd said "screw this" because my pets are my damage and without them, I might as well be sitting in corner reading a book.
It is true that Bots do occasionally run off as you try to "leash" them back in. The potential problem is creating unnecessary aggro against another large group while your team is already doing battle with the first group. What pet doesn't run off to cause some chaos now and then? It is also true that in tight environments such as those wonderful blue caves or maybe the sewers, that having your pets "plug" up the exit or entrance can be annoying at times.
With all that being said, MM's still do bring a lot to the table such as my Bots/Traps. Right before we go into battle, I plop down my Triage Beacon for some heals, my Seeker Drones and Poison Traps and of course my Force Field Generator which not only protects me but my teammates. And lets not forget about Acid Mortar, Caltrops and Web Grenade just to name a few.
So in conclusion, if someone doesn't invite me because they don't like MM's and their "run a round" pets, then that's okay. They need to realize that they are missing out on some big time damage makers. Yes, it can start to get a little crazy if there are more than 3 MM's on a team. Then it may become more of an issue with bogging, lag situations. I once did a 8 MM team and to use the world "chaos" lightly would be an understatement...lol. It was a bit much. So, we are not hated. The people who don't invite us really don't understand the true potential of what MM's can bring to the table. They may have had a bad experience from a bad MM and think "all" MM's play that way. -
Quote:Okay, to answer my other question though, when I am in a bind and getting hit big time, sometimes I only have enough time to activate either Upgrade Robot or Equip Robot. I usually go Upgrade first then Equip if I can without going dry on end. With that being said, does it really matter to have both activated or the one that has more impact on damage such as Equip Robot? It would seem both give different upgrades to Bots so thus having both implemented would be key. Nine times out of ten, I will usually have them both activated but because of the large drain on end, sometimes it can get very tricky in battle without going dry and having to wait, popping a blue or just rest to recover my end. Both upgrade powers are aoe, and will affect all of your henchmen in a 30' radius of the targeted pet. I suspect the Upgrade Robots power description hasn't been changed to reflect the changes, as they used to be single target buffs.
That's also why they cost so much endurance, they buff all pets at once. -
Okay. Every time we venture through Ouroboros, there is this ominous looking figure that takes shape on the glass crystal rocks within the time travel chamber. I have always wanted to put a face on this and tonight I just figured out who it was and I had to bring forth the faces' true identity.
Yes, here it is in all its glory. The true face of Ouroboros!

So Sunday I got on to do some runs in Grandville with me level 50 MM Bots/Traps. When things got a little boring, I decided to head over to the Underground Base on Monster Island to do a little "kick-some-butt" action. As I landed on a building top, as to not alarm the Bane and Crab Spider scouts, I started to spawn my group of bots.
I normally start out with my Battle Drones or "three stooges" as I like to call them. Larry, Curly and Moe. Then my two Protector Bots, Doc Brown and Doc Roboto. Finally, I go to my big guns with my Assault Bot, T-1000 as I call him. "Nothing" but the activation sound. No Assault Bot. All indicators showed that it was activated but he was nowhere to be seen. Thinking this was a normal glitch as we occasionally get in this game, I "dismissed" my other bots and then re-spawned them again. When I got to my Assault Bot "T-1000", nothing. Nada. Hmmmm I thought. So, I decided to do the obvious thing and sign off to the main screen. When I signed back on, there was my Assault Bot just standing there like he never left...lol. I called this a rare glitch because this has never happened to me before in the past 8 months since I rolled my MM. Anyone else experience this? -
Update. So far I have done five mish'es at -1x8 with my level 50 MM Bots/Traps. I have "cleared" mish'es even when the objective wasn't defeat all. The best things I got so far from that was some rare salvage and one respec recipe that I accidentally deleted,..
I know, I know, that's a good 200 Mill or more in influence right there in the market.
Anyways, currently doing the TV Mish'es and now fighting The Malta Operatives. Getting whacked around pretty hard with their Sapper's, Gunslingers and Zeus Class Titans. I am working at it, be it ever so slow in getting through these mish'es. It is funny to see my inspirations going "ding" every few seconds because so many foes are dying, it's like I'm in Vegas playing the slots..hehe.
Also in my observance, it seems I would get a lot of level 49 enhancements as opposed to level 50 enhancements. I do know that rare purples are only level 50. So, with that being said, do you guys think that by playing at -1x8 versus playing maybe at +0x8 might have something to do with this? I am not saying this is the reason I haven't seen a purple yet after only 5 mish'es. Maybe I need to average more mish'es before I see one? As someone earlier stated, it is not the difficulty that you play but the number of foes that will determine how the rare purples are dropped.
I guess I will need to just keep plugging away until I can get one. As soon as I do, I will post it. -
Quote:LOL!!! It kind of reminds me of having some pet dogs running about chasing ducks in the park,..hehe. You know you have to keep them on a leash but decide to take them off the leash thinking that they will obey and stand next to you only to see a bird, duck or rabbit run around and then you're trying to get them back to you. Also, I can't help but notice that once in combat the pets have a TERRIBLE time responding to Goto. Def/follow, combat in progress, bad guy runs, bots run after him.
"STOP I say, STOP! Def/Goto next to me!" Bots still running away. Hit the command 10 more times. Bots repeatedly do the hokey pokey, taking a few steps towards me and then trying to run after the bad guy again. Takes a severe effort and much mouse clicking to get them to relent and by then it's usually too late.
This sort of behavior makes it nearly impossible to avoid aggro-ing other mobs. Goto seems to be largely over-ridden by the AI's desire to KILL/CHASE!
In running my x8 mob mish'es, I have encountered several times with two groups of foes next to each other with the second group just a shade out of aggro range for my Bots. Then, one of my "Stooges", as I like to call them, (Moe, Larry and Curly), might decide to sneak off and pop the other group. Then, I am getting two groups on me...lol! Well, it's all in fun with the MM's. I think this is what makes this Alt so intriguing to play. -
Quote:Nope. They are all standing around me like nothing is going on while I am getting pummeled. Now keep in mind this does not happen all the time. Like I said earlier, probably about 10% of the time. I originally said 20% but that might be kind of high.Could it be the few second lag after you've hit the follow button to when the pets start engaging? Or do they stand there stupidly for a lot longer than 5 seconds or so?
Normally what I will do is stop just far enough out of aggro (viewing) range and set-up shop,..e.g. traps and such. I turn on my Triage Beacon and shoot off a riffle pop and then go to town! My Bots will "usually" attack once the target gets close. It's just that rare time it doesn't happen that's got me spooked. -
So I was on this weekend working on my level 50 MM Bots/Traps going +0x8 in solo mish'es. I ended up in the mish against the AV Stheno. Well, you can imagine when I got to him and all those eggs at x8 what that must have looked liked. Needless to say, I got whacked pretty hard even at +0 in difficulty, the ambushes were just too big to handle, even for my MM.
The biggest issue that I would occasionally encounter was when my pets were trailing behind me as I got back to the egg nest on "Defensive Follow". This is what I normally use for the command unless I decide to have them "Attack". They would just run up and stand next to me and do "nothing" in Defensive Follow mode. As the snakes started to pound me like a pound of Pillsbury Dough, my Bots where just looking around like they just say a bee fly by and couldn't care less that I was getting hit. Normally this is not the case. In fact, probably 8 times out of 10 they will attack anything that attacks me while in "Defensive Follow". For some unknown ungodly reason in that 20%, they will decide to take a break.
I had to double check my bots to make sure they were in "Defensive Follow" and not in "Stay" "non-combat" mode. I do know that certain pets will encounter glitches now and then. Like the glitch that when you go from zone to zone, your pet display usually shows no pets but your pets are still there. They will reappear again once you enter a mish.
Prior to the last few issue upgrades, there was the big collision issue with my bots getting stuck behind the seeker drones. That appears to be fixed. Maybe I just have to take it for what it's worth and accept that there may be some minor glitches now and then with these guys. Anyone else encounter this? -
I've been doing some +0x8 solo mish'es with my level 50 MM Bots/Traps to try and get some good drops such as rare purples, anyways I was scratching my head on this issue about the Equip Robot and Upgrade Robot ever since I've had my MM. Based on paragonwiki, it says:
Equip Robot
Equip your Robots with the latest gear and weaponry. This power permanently bestows new powers and abilities to all of your current Robot Henchman. The powers gained are unique and dependent upon the target Robot Henchman that is Equipped. This power only works on your Robot Henchmen and you can only Equip any given Robot Henchman once. As of Issue 15 it equips all currently active Robot Henchmen, but any summoned later to replaced downed Henchmen will need to be separately Equipped.
Upgrade Robot
Upgrade Robot will permanently bestow the most powerful and high-tech gear and weaponry to one Robot Henchman. The Upgraded Robot will gain new abilities, powers and weapons. The powers gained are unique and dependent upon the target Robot Henchmen that is Upgraded. This power only works on your Robot Henchman and you can only Upgrade any given Robot Henchman once.
So, with that being said, when I am normally in the heat of battle, I will go right for the "upgrade" robot being that both of these are very taxing on the endurance drain. Then, add the Equip Robot when things settle down. The confusion lies in these descriptions. Equip says it works for "all" Robots whereas upgrade says it works only for "one" Robot Henchman. To further the confusion, the description above uses "Henchman" (which is singular) and "Henchmen" (which is plural).
When I would check my Bots after I gave them both Equip and Upgrade, I could swear they all have both, not just the Bot I clicked on to distribute the upgrade. The reality is, I haven't really paid too much attention until I started going x8 solo and was trying to justify activating "Equip" robot first before "Upgrade" robot. It does appear they both give different effects. Can anyone give me a "better" clarification of these descriptions and does it really matter to activate "Equip" robot first before you "Upgrade" robot? Thanks -
So, as we sometimes do when we get bored, I was in the hospital lobby and was just checking things out. As I headed over to the wall underneath the main check-in area, there was a picture on the wall that showed a bunch of people. My guess is it is the some of the staff at NCSoft getting a little "plug"...hehe. Not sure if there is any other spots in the game where there is a picture like this other than the Hospitals?

Quote:Well, I took my Level 50 Bots/Traps out tonight for a trial run at -1x8 going against some crey in the Defeat Trapdoor and his allies mish. I got wacked (died) a couple of times. I ended up aggroing a couple of large groups accidentally. I guess it takes some practice in this being this is the first time I've done this x8 groups. They do appear to pack rather tightly in their groups though. Also as you get more comfortable playing your fire/kin and once you ding 50 you will realize that x8 is nothing. I run my firekin +4 x8. It just takes some practice. Once I got 4 purps in 3 missions. Meaning 1 purp, then i went to the next mish got another, and then in the 3rd mish i got 2.

Quote:Bingo! That's exactly what I wanted to hear.I use softcapped tanks and scrappers, so the mez isn't an issue for me. If you're using something without mez protection, I could see where the difficulty arises.
-1x8 will give you the exact same Salvage, Common IO, and Purple IO recipes, but your enemies will be level 49 on outdoor maps, and 49/50 on indoor ones. The reason most people avoid -1 for farming is that the Uncommon and Rare recipes drop at the level of the enemies that you are fighting, and the 49's are worth less (in some cases, MUCH less) than 50's.
If all you care about is purples, go ahead and farm at -1. You'll get them just as often; moreso, since you'll kill faster. You'll just get less incidental Inf while you farm them.I really could care less about some of the high priced salvage items I might be able to unload at $2mill in influence. If I could sell just "one" purple in the market at $400 Mill as I did the other night, then it makes me happy as small puppy getting his belly rubbed as all four of my paws are in the air..hehe.
I'm more concerned about time, and since I've been playing the markets for the past seven or so months, I have yet to reach the Billion mark in influence. By me getting that purple and selling it for $400 Mill in influence, made me realize that spending all my time trying to sell salvage at an average of $2mill a pop, takes much longer...hehe. Not to say I will still do it but if this works, then we just found a great way to really load up on the best invention sets influence can buy!
The only real bugaboo is my Toons that can't handle the serious mez that they would get hit with. Case in point when they go against Carnies, or some Malta with their stun grenades. I would guess I would need to load-up on some "break frees" to help them out. As for my MM bots/traps, I plan on dropping down to -1x8 and let the sparks fly. Get ready with the body bags! -
Quote:I've been trying this with a few of my toons. I have never gone x8 solo before and even at +0x8 can be tricky and downright hard if you get caught in a hold of some sort. I brought out my level 50 MM Bots/Traps and it seemed a bit easier but not by much. The word "chaos" would be an understatement here...lol.Super-simplified version: Fight enemies that are level 47 or higher, and kill as many as you can. Keep open room for recipes. If one drops and you don't have room for it, it vanishes. I like to do level 46-50 flashback missions at +0x8. This lets me kill tons of enemies for chances at purples, and earns me merits for non-purple big ticket items at the same time.
So, with that being said, does it matter to be +0x8 or can one go -1x8 bringing the diff down a bit? You would still be fighting x8 but at -1 your level? -
Since I've been on as of Jan.09', I only started playing the markets within the last seven months. During that time, I have yet to come across a rare purple that is very hard to get from drops. At least that's what I gathered since I've been playing. Anyways, last night I got on and went to the market to do my normal buys and sells with my level 49 Fire/Kin Controller. To my surprise I noticed an Apocalypse damage/recharge/accuracy Recipe in my inventory. I sort of compared it to the feeling of someone having a winning lottery ticket, you start to get nervous just thinking about the possibilities that await you.
My goal with my toons is to at least get one to my first Billion in influence. I knew this would be a challenge but last night made me think that it can be done by having the right (rare) enhancement to sell.
Needless to say, I wasn't going to keep it, I wanted to sell it. I knew that I could get a nice hefty price at the market for this. As I checked prices and bought all the necessary ingredients, I decided to sell my Apocalypse for around $400 Million in influence.About an hour later, I got my wish and someone bought it for what I was asking for. As I looked at my pot of influence, (approx. $500 Million when added to my existing influence), I felt like a kid in a candy store because I was going to buy some wonderful invention sets that I could not afford before.
I don't normally do PvP so I wasn't going to start dumping influence on those types of enhancement sets. I did go for a few good ones, and after I was done spending influence like a drunken sailor, I had about 40K in influence left. It was fun knowing I could buy some nice enhancement sets that would work with my toon.
This got me thinking. As much as I normally play CoX, mostly on weekends, and sometimes after work or before work, why do I not see more "rare purples" come my way? I've thought I read somewhere in one of these forums that "rares" are a completely random drop. You have no idea when, where or from whom they will be dropped. In reading paragonwikis explanation on this, http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Recipe, my head started to hurt..hehe. This is the only thing I could find per paragonwiki:
"The drop rate for the Very Rare Purple Recipes has been reported to be anywhere from 1 in 1,500 to 1 in 5,000 chance to drop. These were added to the Pool A drops, but we don't know the ratio they are set to appear compared to Common, Uncommon, and Rare Recipes. They drop only from foes that would ordinarily have a chance to drop a level 50 enhancement, so a level 47 minion, a level 46 lieutenant, etc. An easy way to tell if an enemy might drop a purple recipe is if it cons green or better to a level 50 character. Additionally, only level 50 characters can slot Very Rare enhancements."
So, is there a better (more simpler) way of calculating or maybe giving yourself a better chance to get more "rare purples" or is this it? -
Quote:I agree wholeheartedly. The days of the 56k Dial-up should be a thing of the past unless you live in a cave somewhere where you cannot get internet connections. When I bought my Gateway Computer, the first thing I did was upgrade the RAM and the Graphics Card because I knew what type of gaming I was going to do and what was required. I wanted to get the "most" out of this game. If someone is going to play this game, they need to understand that in order to "enjoy" this game in all its glory with the pretty graphics and stuff, they need to have at least the minimum requirements to make it work. The same people who complain about not wanting SB because it's too taxing on their computers graphics need to realize that the days of old technology are gone.I'm sorry to come across as a rick but if a person enters a Massive Multiplayer Online game with a less than adequate computer...it's not the responsibility of the gaming community to be sensitive to that.
I agree in an ideal setting everyone should know who's running the game on underpowered computers & deal with them appropriately but unless the devs implement a feature which would mark one's character with a method of identification based on computer specs....complaining about random kin buffs is a non issue.
As the former CEO Lee Iacoca of the old Crysler Corporation once said: "You either lead, follow or get out of the way". So, let us lead everyone into the 21st Century the right way by keeping up with the Joneses and make it so. Lets boldly go where no one has gone before. "Mr. Sulu Engage!". -
Quote:Ahhhh,..so unlike the "normal" kind of respec you get either by TF or given to us by NCSoft for a new issue, any respecs earned via getting Vet Badges must be redeemed as you said Galaxy City for Hero's and Arbiter Lupin in Nerva or Arbiter Sawyer in Port Oaks for Villains. I did not know that. I was trying the /respec as you normally could and it didn't work. Maybe in the future they will make it available. Hmmm maybe I should add that to "Suggestions and Ideas?"You are incorrect. The Vet Rewards are based on your Account, not your characters. If you make a brand new character right now, you'll find you have access to everything for all 12 months of Vet Rewards on that new character.
As for the resepc, a.k.a. VetSpec, you can't use them via /respec. You have to talk to Jack Wolfe in Galaxy City for Heroes, or Arbiter Lupin in Nerva or Arbiter Sawyer in Port Oaks for Villains.
