  1. I don't think at this point anyone's saying that the dev's feel it can't possibly be done. Just that we should (much like capes and wings before) let it drop and stop bringing it up every five minutes....who knows, maybe they'll suprise us (and themselves)
  2. Exactly. Pretty much everything that can be accomplished by a suggestion thread has already been accomplished with regards to PC.
    1) the initial idea. done
    2) tremendous support. check.
    3) theories on how to implement it. done and done.
    4) multiple official dev responses. a-yup.

Hell, it's not like we need to convince them at this point. They *know* we want it, *they* want it. They simply don't have the resources to justify prioritizing it over the other content and issues. damn those pesky business decisions!
  3. And again, I point you to BaB's last post on the subject. Our ideas on implementation, thought up without extensive knowledge of the code and engine are the opposite of useful.
  4. That's from a preview. The devs always planned CoV and PvP from the pre-beta days....I was on the boards when it happened.
  5. Given that, i think it'd have much better chance of sticky-dom if it were just "consolidated dev posts re: PC" and just drop the player ideas altogether.
  6. Problem with that,(as BaB said in the post i was talking about) unless someone actually already works for cryptic, and knows their code inside and out, their suggestions are worth about the same as a Jeter rookie card thats been in a blender.
  7. Was the post where BaB said (in effect) that there was no idea that someone who wasn't familiar with their code could come up with that the Devs hadn't already...was that from his PM? cuz I notice that it's missing from your list there.
  8. Of course it didn't. Getting D&D as a MMO was expected to be a license to print money. It's arguably the most influential property to this industry, and the fact that it was such a dissapointment is a shame.

Shadowbane, exists only as a MMO....no history equals no expectations.

    "Moral Combat"

My favorite bit when the politicians call videogames "murder simulators" and "they're teaching out children to use guns" is the fact that they're totally overlooking that clicking a mouse, or moving a analog stick with your thumb and hitting the x button is probably the furthest thing in the world from firing a gun.

Good thing, too.....I certified sniper in America's Army on my first try...they mighta tired recruiting me otherwise.

Hey Xandra. I did re-re-re-peruse the Dev digest, but to little avail. So then, how DO they know? If I had quit playing, and come back--would my account be updated to say something like...

    April 04-May 05
    Jan 06-Aug 06

Hm. Hey, it's me, you know? I'll happily be wrong.

They look at the date you opened your account. They look at the current date when the awards are implemented. They then subtract any time that your account was closed. Viola. Time played.

Me personally, I'm set. Account's been running since day negative 3 of CoH
  11. You're slightly mistaken. Pretty sure Cuppa confirmedit'son time *played*.
  12. Heh...faced a few of those kheld cops on test with my lvl 41 necro/dark MM...might have gone better if they weren't all level 46, even when i dropped down to villianous 8) (bugged, natch 8)

The hercbot was hella cool, though

  14. That's the exact reasoning behind it. They had to buff the ill-thought out blaster secondaries in beta because there was no point to taking them. Low damage, on an AT with very minimal defense, in the most dangerous combat situation wasn't working.

You're right. They're very unlikely to give blasters more damage in their primaries to compensate for a lessening of melee damage. The last word States gave blasters on their team role was that they're ranged damage, but there isn't a single set that can sustain a truely ranged attack chain. They've been promising to rework the secondaries for nearly a year now, so who knows.

    Blaster role

He's talking about the pre-beta boards, a place full of boundless optimism.

Bottom line though, if the devs are gonna go with this (relatively) new role of "ranged damage dealers" for us, they *have* to fix the primary powersets to make that a viable and needed playstyle, and revamp the secondaries to actually support that.

edit- Note that I am not advocating the elimination of blapping
  16. Aeon is doing the PTS dealy in Cap, which is purportedly drawing power off of the demon.

And yeah...Recluse doesn't want any time travel going on, iirc, it's because of the Recluse's Victory zone, or someone screwing up the Destined One prophecy.
  17. Someone find Manticore.....he prolly wrote the thing in the first place.
  18. Probably a typo, but even without em, Time Travel just makes my head hurt.
  19. Nope. Not the CoV hammi, I'm sure. Probably just the zone's Giant Monster.

They wouldn't have the "raid" monster in an open city zone like that.

They already said they don't intend for every badge to be attainable by a single character. Right around the time people first noticed that anycharacter made after badges were introduced couldn't get Isolator.

*points to his post earlier in the thread*

Celtic, do your search-fu. I believe it was Positron who initially posted that reasoning regarding Isolator when it was first released.

    Actually the deal is this:

We removed Recharge Enhancements from all Henchmen powers because it WOULD affect the recharge rate of the summoning power itself, and NOT the recharge rate of the Henchmen's powers.

This is inconsistent to ALL other Enhancements that are slottable for Henchmen... the Enhancements ALWAYS affect the powers of the Henchmen, and not the summoning power itself.

To avoid confusion, we just removed the option.

And I believe it was a good call, seeing as how many people would be confused as to how it would work if we left it alone.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Is that true for other AT's pets as well? I'd read that recharge enhancements were affecting my singularity's powers, and not just how often I was able to summon it, but I haven't timed it or anything. I'd be nice to know for sure.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I tried to be specific by mentioning "Henchmen" instead of "Pets".

The above statement by me applies ONLY to Mastermind Henchmen powers, i.e. the summoned pets that can be controlled via the command icons. Pets that are summoned "uncontrolled" (even those summoned by Masterminds) behave as they always have in regards to Enhancements (i.e. the Enhancement affects the power, not the pet).

    [/ QUOTE ]

Poz -- maybe I am misunderstanding you here, but Illusion's Phantom Army is an "uncontrolled" pet yet slotting damage & accuracy enhancements does increase the Army's ability to hit & do damage. Is it only Recharge enhancements that are different?

    [/ QUOTE ]

It would appear so. If you could put a recharge into a hench power, it would make the hench power available again sooner, rather than make the hench's poweres cycle faster. Seems that Poz may have misspoke on that last bit, adding more confusion. Recharge enhs on my kheld's inkies mean I can summon more inkys sooner, but doesn't make them attack any quicker. But the damage and acc enhs *do* make them hit harder and more accurately.

I have to agree, a very good overview!

Just to put things in the context of the game, it seems fairly clear to me that there aren't any real racist, Nazi-type groups depicted in CoH/CoV, although there's one instance where Nemesis apparently felt a parallel earth with few white inhabitants was a suitable proving ground for a doomsday device. It is conceivable that the 5th Column used racist propaganda as a recruiting tool, and brought on only physically fit white males, but this is never even hinted at in the game. (And can you blame the writers?) Crey, Nemesis, the Council, and Arachnos are all organizations with a Fascist/Totalitarian goal: placing the one person who is intelligent enough to run things properly in charge. Compare with some of the things Lord Recluse says about Fascism in Web of Arachnos!

    [/ QUOTE ]

You're right. There was a mission in CoH where you had to rescue some potential 5th recruits. I've run that mission a few times and while this may have been a by-product of a random NPC generator, every time I did that mission, there were some dark-skinned recruits to be rescued. The 5th was never presented as a racist organization.
