Quote:Again, that's not keeping up. Even Con minions is keeping up, since there are a shed load more of them for each player on the team. Making there be more of them AND +4? Again, I'll have to see how that pans out in practice not just theory, but it sounds a little cheap to me.
And that encounter at least sounds fun. We'll have to see.
Heh...I don't even count anything lower than boss as actually existing. I don't remember what the team make ups were when I ran Apex and Tin Mage, pretty balanced, I guess, but if it wasn't boss or higher, it didn't last long enough to be an issue. They didn't get melted immediately like spawns in the older TFs do...I'd actually have a chance to run in, use Inferno and actually hit things, but the amount/level of minions wasn't an issue. I could still reliably use char to stop sappers and such.
From my experience, the only real issues are the new things the AVs are doing. And once it's figured out and people run em a few times, they'll be cake again. -
Quote:Hmn, this bodes well...pft.
+4 on the teams of peeps I know should be doable. Hell, Alpha has enough defence to negate a chunk of that. But I agree just from reading the description that it sounds 'Not good'.
@Furio
Yeah, that's not keeping up from the sounds of it. Thats 'The Computer is a Cheating *******' in action, just at a glance. Boss fights being tough? Sure, that makes sense. But the rest of it just sounds like....well, I dunno. I'm gonna have to try it out for myself.
The minions are just trying to keep up. The Director, besides being a+4 AV, has a tactically sound setup going in his fight. He's in that new warehouse room with the stacked storage shelves, and he's running around in between them, breaking LoS, and like the Persians' arrows in 300, enough trip mines to blot out the sun. I can't speak to how hard he hits...the rest of the team did a good job keeping him off of the squishies.
So, he's moving, you go to shoot him from a rare tripmine free place, he ducks behind a shelf, you move, but that triggers a 3-4 sec timer (which do have a visible countdown) on a mine, you keep moving etc, etc. Overall effect is that the ranged fighters damage output on him is lowered considerably. I long ago dropped hover, so even floating up and shooting him i was still pretty gimped, output wise. I had my musculature in...next time I'll try with my cardiac radial. -
I don't claim to know the how (story line wise) of it, but Malta's entire schtick is taking out supers. So the why (again story line wise) of even their minions being total badasses in that TF makes perfect sense. All the supers they're facing are getting more powerful, so they've gotta keep up. Sure they could have explained the how of that better in the TF, if they even tried, but overall I'm ok with it.
I did quip after the Director 11 fight. "He just fought 8 proto Incarnates, by himself, to a near draw for like 15-20 mins...and *we're* the threat to the world?" -
Thats not related to the fact that i cant dismiss a zombie and summon a ghost with my necro anymore, is it?

Most were cool...but steampunk/mis-assembled Vader pretty much sucks.
And why is Fudd hunting rabbits in an ally? -
Quote:No movie ever? *pssst* it had 9ft tall blue aliens and made more money than any movie ever.Right now 3D is just a gimmick. This is not the first time we have gone though a 3D craze. We have one every 20 or so years. The 3D lovers always claim that people that don't like it have to suck it up and get used to it because 3D is the future, but that still hasn't happened. There is a large percentage of the population that have issues with the current type of 3D. Large enough that no movie will ever be 3D only. Until there is a 3D system that doesn't cause headaches, 3D will not be the standard.

Quote:I knowSometimes people's head shape don't agree with the glasses themselves; I had an old pair of glasses (prescription) that would give me one monster of a headache if I wore them for more than an hour.
Been wearing glasses for nearly 30 years. But sounds like Sam's talking about something else

Quote:Every 3D animated movie ever made, how about? There is no "passable" 3D. It destroys the colour of the movie as you're watching it through coloured filters, it makes me, personally, crosseyed and gives me a headache and the glasses always get covered in filth just as I watch even if I wiped them beforehand.
And all of that for a pretty shallow optical illusion that just on its own has the capacity to make my head hurt like I was dropped. There is nothing redeeming in 3D, and I am sick and tired of not watching movies because they air in 3D.
Do you have any idea how long I waited to watch a decent copy of Avatar without watching it in a confusing, colourless mess?
Sounds to me more like a personal health issue for you, then . The animated movies i've seen in 3d were just what I said, mostly decent movies that the 3d didn't hurt and in some cases made for some cool effects, but then I don't suffer headaches and whatnot. I have no idea how the glasses are getting dirty while you're wearing them though. -
Quote:Yeah and while Mencia may be a joke thief and I don't particularly care for Cook's style, the fact that they did work their way to fame through actually doing stand up in the clubs (and not some reality game show) is a fair indication of talent. They are good at what they do.Actually I'll take issue with the statement that he has no talent.
Okay, for the record, I think Simon Cowbell is a gigantic *****. My first introduction to him was his appearance on Top Gear: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gd4VraE4o68
Really, try watching that video and not developing an urge to call the Malta and take out a contract on him.
That being said, Simon has demonstrated quite a bit of talent in picking musical acts, at least in the UK market, and he's not actually a bad driver, at least on the Top Gear Test Track.
Too bad he's not as fast as an actual recording artist: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LFbVgA6J878 -
Quote:They've been CGIing stunts for almost decades now. I'd agree it's probably far easier to "fake a stunt than it is to fake a performance". But they've been making steady improvements to the stunt side of things for years. To believe that they'll never master the "performance" side of things is a bit naive at best.
It'll still require an actor of some sort, I would think, to pull off a convincing new performance from a dead celebrity. Full on animation will still look like animation for a while yet, leaving us with mo-cap -

Quote:What "good" movies? I've seen a bunch of bad movies with bad 3d, and then some animated stuff which was fine with passable 3d and Avatar, a mediocre movie with amazing 3d...i cant think of a single good movie dragged down by 3d."3D" needs to die in a fire, and soon. It has ruined more good movies than I care to mention, and I shudder to think about it coming to games as a natively supported feature. I'm not just against this because it craps all over image quality and makes me cross-eyed. I'm against this because I hate the technology on principle and would hate to see it proliferated any further.

It's not happening, sez Lucas through his spokesperson
"Update: But it isnt true! The I cast dead people scenario thats making the rounds on the web is not true, according to Lucasfilm spokesman Josh Kushins. This rumor is completely false, he told Wired.com in an e-mail Monday.

Dunno how many there are supposed to be, but I only ever saw 2 at a time. Well, I guess technically 4, but only 2 warning patches (still safe to be in for a couple of seconds), and 2 patches of the last attack.
-
It's just the name of the place...It predates Arachnos. Kinda like how Berlin Germany was still called Berlin during Nazi rule.
-
Quote:There is. It's not a pop up like the war walkers or protean's warnings, but it's there. She shows the 2 areas that she's going to target as a pair of blue patches, then a few seconds later BOOM. Watch for the blue patches, and adjust your location accordingly.I keep reading that there's supposed to be some advance warning before one of those Cheating Circles of Death appears, but I never saw any such indication. I just got blindsided by them over and over again, as did the rest of the team, until we finally gave up. I'm glad some people are getting enjoyment out of it, but you couldn't pay me to run through that meat-grinder again.

Quote:You do know that the Incarnate stuff is essentially a separate team, right? Positron stepped aside as lead dev to run the "end game content" team.Sadly tho, I see the next while being dedicated to incarnate development, rather than new content....too bad, IMO. The direction the game seems to be going is more focused on effects and powers and reskinning, which I feel is a shame, sorry to say. I doubt we will see alot more real content in Coh.

Quote:Start preppin that zombie apocalypse. season 2's scheduled for octoberI'm hoping that it was the location of a cache of food or weapons, or a safe place, but it was more likely the revelation that everyone is host to the virus/microbe/fungus that turns people into zombies.
We'll find out next year.
If I have to wait a whole year, I'm starting my own zombie apocalypse. *twitch* -
Quote:Good thing this is JUST A GAME then, eh? Also, did you know you can get shards from Rikti Invasions? Just got 3 in TalosIn case you missed the main point of my OP, I think something as important to the future of the game should be based on principles more profound than those relying on the RNG and Luck. Ramiel's Arc to open the Alpha Slot was a foundation that should be built upon instead of becoming an important but isolated mission.
In real life, I am the father of two grown kids and the proud grandfather of two wonderful children. I raised my kids with purpose and direction and they are succeed in life and the work place.
Imagine how those kids would have turned out if, at every important point in their life, I rolled the dice and solely allowed RNG processes to determine their fate. Progressing in the Incarnate System is no less important to this game than how the rearing of children is to their futures. We want those future Incarnates to be skilled, tested and proven worthy to claim the title and the huge reliance on RNG processes that is in place now is NOT the way to achieve that goal. -
Well put, as usual,Arcana. I don't see how anyone could have a different view on the situation. It's End Game content.
...I also think the nature of CoH will mostly avoid the "no one running the old stuffs" issue in other MMO endgames -
Quote:I agree. I think looking at it as "a zombie show" is completely the wrong approach. As a zombie show, I'd agree...you would want to FF to "the good parts". But it's not a zombie show, it's a show about these people trying to stay human.Well, to be fair, (re: Rick panicking) on one hand I agree completely; on the other, it was his push to come here, his hopes were apparently high, then when he gets there, the door is not only closed, but someone is apparently inside actively watching them. Might send a lawman (who is probably somewhat accustomed to being able to command a modicum of acquiescence) a little batspit.
Of course, what I was actually thinking during the panic in question was, "Dude, the building is BIIG. You're not in imminent danger. CHILL. There might be another way in, dummy! GO AROUND!"
And to (Quiet American, if I recall correctly), re: talking^8, I really LIKE the talking. Too many people insist that DOING is the most important thing, "DO SOMETHING NAO!" But in this kind of situation, each decision could very well be LIFE or DEATH, for ALL of them. [I recall the mushroom incident - (paraphrasing) -"There's only one way I know to figure out if it's poisonous..."]
So while it is dramatically less interesting to the viewer, it seems more real that in any plan as vital as these plans are, you'd spend 90% talking/thinking about it, then the rest of the time actually carrying out the plan.
And I recall a favorite movie of mine that is 90+% talking to my recollection - "The Green Mile." Also, come to think of it, "The Shawhank Redemption" is similar... In fact, if I didn't know any better, knowing Darabont direct... NM, just found out that Darabont actually wrote those, so THAT makes sense. LOL at me, just don't point.
-
Um. Have you done the Incarnate arc? If not, how do you know you wont enjoy it? Simply because there's more than one mission involved?

I don't think it'll work. If they want to attract younger viewers, they have to not be the Oscars. By and large, the movies that younger demo enjoys simply aren't Oscar nominees. At least not for the big awards.
I think it's a bad idea. Actors make bad presenters when all they have to do is introduce the nominees. This'll will be the first time that I can remember that a comic isn't the host...and I think it's a bad move.
