  1. Sometimes you'll be surprised by what you enjoy. I'm normally "Damage and more damage" (started Scrapper, moved to Blaster) but I have some Force Field defenders- one of the least damaging types in the game- and I like them a lot.

Also, some things are slower-starters than others (Tanks don't take off in my opinion till level 20-22) so the "You'll know by level 10" may not be accurate for you.

Blasters get more fragile in the late game, although they still do stupendous damage. If you live.

    H versus V

I actually give worse prices than Smurphy (I take 15%) but sometimes if you want it right now, I"m around and he isn't.
  3. They've fixed at least one complaint- as of this morning, "Other" shows up first in the list for recipes and enhancements.
  4. Repeating this because it's important:

Not all low level recipes are junk. If it's a set IO (that is, it has a name like "Fulmens' Overweening Self-Appeal" and not just "Invention:Taunt") there are a few REALLY VALUABLE items. I'm not going to try to list them, but take something to Wentworth's, throw it up into your "stored" tab, and hit "find" to discover what the last 5 sold for. If any of them are in the millions, it's not junk. (There are many ways to get bit by the market, but I don't think that is one of them.)
  5. There were a lot of people who, when this feature was announced, said "YAY ! WE HAVE BANKS!" And there was not, that I ever saw, any dev commentary to the effect of "Hold on, now, that may not work that way."

I don't think I'm getting bit on this, but that's all luck and no skill.

I'm glad to have found out about this.

    2. But once I made 50, experience is irrelevant, what is relevant is getting those IO sets needed for my alt to "be all it can be". Doing missions do get influence so I can buy those recipes, is simply madness for the recipes are way too over-priced to plainly purchase, and we all know, if you need the recipe; it will not drop. So what else could you do? That's right, get merits. How can you get merits? Do TFs. So now we want to do Tfs, but only as an instrument to get merits, thus going into TF missions to kill everything that moves or could move, is simply not practical. So when I form TFs, I make very sure to declare if it is a "slow" or "fast" TF. I would push for slow, if I am helping an SG member level; but if I am doing this for myself, it will be a quick one. Now what is my definition of a quick one? In short, I only fight what I must fight to achieve the mission goal; no thrills!
This is true if and only if you get nothing except merits and influence from play.

I think Topdoc's numbers from a while back were that 1/3 of his farming inf came from purple recipes. There are a lot of level 50 pool A set recipes that can garner several million from crafting.

(And of course you can run AE missions and get a WHOLE LOT of pool A recipes in a hurry...)

Oversimplifying the ways you can make money in this game is, I think, a prime source of dissatisfaction.

That the devs simply ignore this thread convinces me we're stuck with the PoS, so may as well live with it.
I'm going to sound like a huge Dev apologist here. This thread has been in existence 32 days. I suspect the devs have READ it but not RESPONDED to it. As far as fixes? I don't know how fast the market coder works, but they're probably working pretty hard. [one thing they did since this thread was started: fix a bug I found that generated billions of new inf out of nothing. Yes, it was live. No, I'm not a trillionaire.]
  8. Ignoring Captain Freak for a moment (or forever), and talking to Emperor Steele: You're making a floating point into a binary.

TF's aren't "Efficient or inefficient" (measured in rewards per minute for our purposes). They are MORE or LESS efficient. It is very easy to get people to run an efficient TF. It is harder to get people to run a less efficient TF. You may never get, say, Nethergoat to run an Eden Trial ... but I'm still happy to do it. Smaller pool of players is not "Nobody does it." (Hami is an exceptional case because you need a 50-player team or something.) "Players" as a whole don't have a single behavior. I had a friend who paid $15 a month for a while because he really, really, loved to fly around. He was, like, buzzing Valor Bridge and stuff.

I am still not seeing this new UI as doing anything people have wanted from the markets for the past 3 years other than stopping the disconnects.
... ability to search for salvage that a recipe takes, or a recipe to take your salvage.

... ability to search for stuff in level order.

... ability to purchase 10 crafted items (or 10 inspirations) using only one market slot.

Did I like the old way better? Hell, yes. But there is new functionality worth keeping.
  10. Actually, I think we're talking about selling the lazy stuff at huge profits.

But, hey, don't let me block your soapbox...

    Goatrules

I buy and resell at least 20 things for each one I buy and slot.

So, yeah, I can BUY IT NAO for most things.

  13. Coyote Seven: I know it's a long thread, but if you go back and read Ultimo's posts, they contain knowing untruths. I disproved one of them and he responded with a pathetic attempt at bullying, followed by continuing to claim the false statement.

If that's not a liar, what is?
  14. Mousedroid: Congratulations on your inability to read the original post. This is a for-profit question.

To the OP: As has been mentioned, it's very close between random and specific. My last few data points were luring someone into rolling a little more than 40 times. They got, I think, slightly more than 20 million/roll on average. Random rolls are random, and the really big money was in about four recipes last I looked.

Also it doesn't actually solve the market issue, as I said before, people can still HOARD, DELETE, VENDOR anything they get.

At that point you might as well just go back to the reward window at the end of every tf.
People CAN do anything they want. Not all of them will. People CAN delete their merits, but not very many people do. For instance.

(I think the optional "reward window" at the end of the TF- do you want to roll now?- will generate low level recipes something like 10% of the time, just by making it easier. This will produce two or more times as many low level recipes. I could be overestimating the number of lowbies on TFs.)

No, I don't have anything to add, really.
  17. I've been getting a lot of usage out of recovery serum and plasmatic taser. I have been getting some usage out of the medkits. I know and dislike the jetpack (half an hour? Reeeeallly?) I expect there are others I haven't really discovered yet that will become "fairly standard"- especially if I'm exemping a lot. The dagger and the backup radio look juicy.
  18. to all the people who say "Every build has Stamina, so Stamina is broken":

80% of Blasters that CAN have Build Up and Aim, maybe more, DO have Build Up and Aim. Do Build Up and Aim need to be removed? No?

Then clarify the difference. I think you're wrong about the original thesis [Stamina bad] as well, but I'm willing to discuss it. I am SURE you're wrong about the "popularity is a flaw" argument, and wish you to make a different argument, one that's less stupid.
  19. OK, I'm going to get everyone who asked but I'm taking a break after that. I got a little extravagant.

  22. The money DOES circulate. Buy something, 90% of that money goes into someone else's pocket. That person buys something, 81% of the original goes into someone else's pocket. Market fees make one influence generated into something like 12 influence spent.

Turn it into prestige and it's GONE. Boom, headshot.

Santorican got 100 million inf matched. Who else wants some, yo?
  23. Sure, I'm happy to shuffle money around side-to-side.
  24. Time to go through Outbreak on a new FF/Rad: 7.5 minutes [roughly]. No origin powers.

Time to go through to level 2 in AP on a new FF/Rad: 2:33. Level 3 was 6:29 and I hadn't gone back to level yet.

Time to go through to level 2 and 3 on a new energy/energy blaster in the AP parking lot: 1:45 and 5:34.

    SO much slower.
