Yup. You are totally right about that. ( Why do i even bother reply is beyond me )
[/ QUOTE ]
No, it is not, you know full well that it was to foster passive-aggressive guilt and try to garner sympathy. -
actually, I have Mod 08 as a robot in one of my arcs.
a mind control/ninjitsu archvillain.
He sneaks in and shuts you down without warning. -

Help lower population server. Make it where lower your population the higher the xp and money. So maybe servers will balance out. We pay money and we are punished
[/ QUOTE ]
I don't agree with the whining, but I do agree with the idea. I think server populations need to be balanced a bit, and a minor boost to experience/infamy rewards to servers based upon their population would certainly serve to spread people out more.
It's not 'punishing' freedom and virtue people, since they are still getting what they always had. -
The problem with devices is not devices. No one will argue that devices is a fine set, taken by itself.
The problem is that it's thematic partner, AR, is not synergistic with it.
AR is a great set, Devices is a great set. Together, however, they are not a great combo.
Truthfully, targeting drone should have given the entire assault rifle set a 30% damage boost, INCLUDING full auto. the lack of both aim AND build up destroys a blaster's specialty... burst-killing before enemies have a chance to respond. Without that ability, the number and types of enemies an ar/dev can safely engage suffers in comparison to other blasters. It is still powerful, but the tactical considerations are far far higher than they are for any other combo. ei a 90 degree learning curve. -

Another less obvious exploit i hope Devs will deal with soon:
Invalid AE missions STILL being run by players who never completed them. They can reset these missions forever as long as they do not complete objective , log out and log back.
That explains why some players can still run fire imps or comm officers missions even after the patch.
[/ QUOTE ]
And the only way you would know about this is to have done it yourself.
There are people still running the pre-nerf dreck farm map too.
Those isolated instances are not the problem. It's only a problem when massive numbers of people do them. sooner or later these folks are going to hit 42 and no longer going to get any exp from the comm farms. They are going to have to quit them and move on, or stop playing the characters.
But, as a leading sadist in the fun police, I am sure that just 'leaving it be' rankles you to no end. -
I proudly kicked 5 kins this week that didn't have SB
One of them sent me a tell and said "Why should I waste time on sb when I can singlehandedly take out a spawn by myself?"
my reply:
"Why are you wasting time on my team when you can singlehandedly take out a spawn by yourself?"
Frankly, I don't care how powerful someone is. If they can't make a teaming experience more fun, out they go. If they are so powerful they can do it themselves. -
actually, it may be... positron still hasn't defined 'egregious'
-
Bonfire is AWESOME! I used it one time.
once.
Will never use it again, but MAN was it cool -
I tried to republish my arcs, and the error-checking crashed my router. repeatedly.
-
I think you have forgotten the fact that certain aoe attacks work just fine in melee, such as psi nado.
a melee fort works perfectly fine, but I don't think you should be cutting off your feet to spite your face. -
what I have a problem with is a lack of understanding of what 'egregious' abuse is.
That and the threats.
I really, really love burning down huge herds of baddies all the way up to the aggro cap. It makes me enjoy characters that I otherwise despise.
I also like to create adventures suitable for soloing by less 'soloable' toons, such as low-level defenders, that are less brutal than the regular content, for use when teams are unavailable (I play at 3 in the am a lot)
Are these behaviors going to get my characters banned? Yes, my earth controller can solo faster on a 'defender specialty' map than on regular content... but the ability of my earth controller to solo on regular content is FAR FAR below even TANKER 'average' leveling speeds.
Is using the MA to create solo challenges on par with higher-difficulty characters an exploit?
Where does that end, is using the MA to create lower-difficulty challenges for a team of newbies, that allows them to level as fast as the sewers but without as many deaths considered an 'exploit'?
Because of this, I have deleted my three arcs. I don't know if they are going to get banned. I won't touch the MA ever again. And it's a real shame because I was looking forward to it so much (I was actually one of the people making threads suggesting it several years ago.) but if my characters are in 'danger', it would be stupidly irresponsible for me to touch it again. -
AR/Storm.
It's not FOTM because of the animations, but it's aoe damage is incredibly powerful. -
allow me to rephrase, longer than the mobs live
-
Nope, it's a stealth nerf.
go see what positron has to say about the MA. It will certainly be enlightening... threats to ban players, destroy their toons, force them to speak to CS just because someone didn't like their arc... gotta love it.
I think they need to replace Matt Miller. He's beginning to sound more and more like Jack Emmert. Childish. -
matt really screwed the pooch on this.
'wee! you guys found a fun way to play that was not intended, and we are going to cripple you for doing so!'
yeah, brilliant.
I can sort of understand Matt closing the hole in the MA system, but threatening to ban a bunch of people and delevel their characters is going WAY WAY too far.
But that's alright, I plan on taking that post to slashdot. -
so people like you have something to whine about.
-
No.
someone can name an arc identical to yours, but it is THEIR arc, not yours. and that is not stealing. -

This is the same arguement that was used against Power Diversification. Players know what they want better than the Devs, and it still isn't true.
Many players (people) will happily shoot themselves in the foot if there seems to be a short term advantage in it, regarless of the long term consequences. This is evidenced by players in FPS who only play in God mode then complain that Hard mode is too easy lol. Or by people who went on missions with pre-nerf Fire Tanks and stood at the door for 4 hours a night collecting experience, then complained CoH is boring. Well DUH!
Your aren't meant to reach 50 in a few hours. This cheats you of the game playing opportunity and undermines the basis of the game. They need long term players paying monthly fees, this isn't a charity. So the Devs walk a tightrope between making "good" progress and making "too good" progress.
It is also unrealistic to say that players ALL like MA superleveling. Even saying most like it probably isn't true. Like anything else some like it, some hate it and the rest ignore it. There have been just as many "Stop the Farmer" threads as there have been "Save the Farmer" threads. Too many of both.

to paraphrase, "You people are too stupid to know what you want"
Troll elsewhere please. -
Doctor Aeon: Well, DJ... you see, I want to put in an architect Entertainment in your pocket dimension.
DJ Zero: You are a rat and I see what you are driving at. There's no way in heck you are putting one of those hulking monstrosities in MY pocket dimension.
Doctor Aeon: but... it's the perfect place! I am not evil, I am just trying to provide entertainment for all the villains and heroes so that there will be less fighting in the streets...
DJ Zero: No. See those chalk marks over there? That's where Back Alley Brawler got a little drunk one night and I didn't move in in time. Now get out of my house before I let folks know that I might not move in on time if someone roughs YOU up. -

@Frostweaver
That sounds *awesome* The only farms I've seen are the city block with the comm officer pride parade.
Would it be too much trouble to PM me the arc number, if you remember it? That sounds like more of a story than half the stories.

ugh, I tried to find it today, but when I typed in 'Rikti Invasion' I got like 600 different arcs.
The search engine is BAD. They need one sort of like they have here on the forums.
I HATE wasting my search-fu Mojo on crap. -
ea HAS a taunt aura. 1 taunt enhancement with your regular slotting makes the taunt duration on ED last longer than your recharge.
There are many arguments about whether the changes were enough, but those arguments were NOT about ed taunt. It's great. -
Spirit chaser, I can just see Castle reading that message on the board as he snickers and types out 'Repel' on the scrapper and tanker EA powers list...

Shakespeare was that rare talent who could mix and match high-brow and low-brow as needed to entertain many different sorts of audiences simultaneously.
It's a bit more difficult to do that under the limitations of the Mission Architect, though I actually think it might be an interesting exercise to imagine howThe Bard might have told some of his tales under those limitations.
In fact, that gives me some ideas for mission arcs...

play an arc called 'Bad Poetry' by a friend of mine
I was amazed that she could write such an amusing storyline... with a ton of original poetry, to boot!
