I actually sent them pms from the forums asking for their costumes and other info so that I could put them into a custom arc of mine. Of course, that arc completely ignores the 4th wall and roundly traipses over it giggling all the while.
The problem with putting Mod 08, as awesome as he is, into the game is that his name is rather odd for a hero. Without a weird backstory, it would break immersion for some people.
See that's why I'd have named him Moder8r, and he could be related to my family of heroes, Retail Retali8r, Procrastin8r and Oblivi8r.

actually, I have Mod 08 as a robot in one of my arcs.
a mind control/ninjitsu archvillain.
He sneaks in and shuts you down without warning.
They could make Niv and Mod 08 GM's in the new zone. And one of their powers could be if you get killed while trying to take them down, you get kicked from the zone and you can't re-enter for 3 days, and they get a little yellow title that reads " I've been modded".
If you defeat them you get the Modslayer badge.
Wasn't it bad enough that they put Castle in the game?

I think Moder8r would be a perfectly legitimate name for a super -- Controller if blueside, Dominator if redside (Mod 8 doesn't really have many minions).
M08 and Mod 8 would also work, but Moder8r was my favorite so far.
Problem with adding the Mods to the game, which by the way would be awesome, is they do tend to come and go quite often. Positron the ingame hero isn't really Matt Miller any more than Statesman was Jack though they adopt those names for the forums.
So I don't have a problem with this idea but I don't see it really working out.

I dunno about you, but I've noticed a pretty substantial decrease in in-game mentions of Statesman since Jack left...
Heck, he's barely relevant to his own Task Force. Although I guess it's that way for all the Signatures.

Whenever the next zone is made, I'd like to suggest adding Moderator 08 as the trainer. If you don't want to make the forums too obvious, just shorten it to Mod 08, or maybe just M 08, or something.
Why? Because the man has a workload on these forums, and does a nice job with things. I think it would be pretty fair if he were given his own little piece of CoH placement.
Besides, Moderator 08 sounds official, doesn't? Borderline corporate.

Make Moderator 08 into a trainer.
