I'd be in with my 49 (almost 50) Ice/Cold corruptor.
-
Uhm... I think you forgot to properly read what you and we wrote... no one mentioned a DEFENDER, just EMPATHS being better (or worse) than EMPATHS... doesn't make too much sense to me, hehe... The true horror though is the City of Villains team search list with half the corruptors calling themselves healers already...
-
A snipe better than blizzard? If you got a teammate with any knockdown power like freezing rain/ earthquake or just a good slow power blizzard is pretty good... On its own though... it really is lacking but still definatly better than a snipe... never saw why people like them that much, any normal single target attack is more useful really...
-
Not much of a shock dropping ressurect, it's not a terribly useful power anyway... probably more useful in pvp than elsewhere though...
Empaths better than other empaths? Is that a trick question? -
Hmmm... don't get me wrong there, the only time I'd not take a defender with empathy is when there are already like 2 in the team (mainly because most don't really have attacks and add very little to the team at that time)
-
Hmm... quite different to me, I'd rather have any defender but an empath... maybe maybe empaths are easy to play... but seening that in the typical 3+ empath teams (there are more of those out there than you think) it is still impossible to get clear mind on a somewhat regular basis the empaths I meet usually (with very few exceptions) aren't very useful for the team.
Nore so since 90% of the empaths don't have any attacks either and are sidekicked 20 levels higher than they really are.
I can see people skipping most of the attacks if they really want to keep up all the different auras and buffs but if people don't use them it fast becomes just a bad excuse to get experience with minimal effort...
(Sorry for the rant... Just ticks me off sometimes...) -
I'd change the slotting a bit to get 3 damage enhancements in each attack power, 3 end reduction in enervating field and maybe get rid of the end red in em-pulse.
Lingering radiation is much more useful than choking cloud in my eyes, I'd get that instead. If you still want choking cloud (which is of limited use if not slotted heavily) get rid of mutation as that is a pretty situational power which can often be replaced by an awaken. -
I'd get rid of those immobilizes (don't seem to work good with freezing rain and I really love that power) and move steamy mist to a lower level really.
-
Well depends... in PvE thunder clap isn't that great but in PvP it is rather nice to have an AoE toggle drop... makes storm even more overpowered than it already is , hehe...
-
Yes storm really doesn't have any bad powers in it... if you want you might go without tornado though and o2 boost is not a must have but still nice usually...
-
Air superiority is great don't get hover instead - even with only 1 slot it is quite nice.
I'd exchange proton volley for neutron bomb really or maybe get it instead of mutation and use the 2 slots you put into fly.
I also doubt that you need so many to hit buff enhancements in tactics if you got irradiate and 3 in radiation infection.
And then I'd get rid of such a situational power as mutation and get something more solid like aim instead.
If you want to add choking cloud (which isn't THAT effective on it's own and needs heavy slotting to be useable, both for reduced endurance and for hold duaration) you can get rid of tactics completly (and if you really got trouble hitting - which I doubt - slot irradidate with -def instead) -
From my experience irradiate is much more useful in both PvE and PvP than that snipe. And then you really shouldn't slot cosmic burst for disorients but for damage (again both for PvE and PvP)
-
A short note on Heat Loss: Yes the recharge rate is awful, even 3 slotted with recharge and hasten on but you should remember that it actually increases your endurance regen rate for quite some time (enough so you won't ever run out of endurance while it lasts) making the long recharge not as painful. Still with Ice/ you probably will still be low on endurance quite often (I know I am) as you'll want to use Blizzard quite often later on.
-
For me radiation infection and irradite seems to be enough to hit almost all the time. (Just remember it only gets 50% of the stuff that is there max and is not too nice on your endurance)
-
At least rad debuffs are fairly visible so if you got a good team (just not enough of those out there) there is even a chance that it might survive. Other debuffs like snow storm are much harder to see sometimes and I guess if you're in close or far away I really imagine it is hard to see which one it is on.
So for general tactics I usually start putting the debuffs on bosses and only switch to lieutanants if any particular team always kills them first. Putting stuff on minions never works because of area of effect attacks and the odd attack melee people make before changing the target/the debuff becomes visible.
One of the best ideas is (if you use tab to select the guy for the anchor) not to put it on the guy in the front/ the first guy tab targets as chances are the other people targeting this way will hit the same one. Being lazy I don't always do this and usually target bosses that even if they die too soon at least tend to live for some time. -
Can't say much about regular PvPing but I've enjoyed the (limited) PvP experience with my corruptor so far... so if you want to do some PvP /t my corruptor (name: Frosthound, duh) when online and I might join you beating up some good guys.

Hmm... the snipes aren't really that much safer as you have to
stand still or they are interrupted unlike other powers where you can shoot and immidiatly hide behind some obstacle - which is way better in my opinion.
In PvP sniper attacks can be useful but isn't the radiatioon snipe rather short range for a snipe? And still... while you are waiting to get the snipe of at close range (after a knockback/down, which really is the best time to use it) you could get off a few other attacks
All in all radiation has quite some nice powers in it. The only thing it lacks really is range should you need it (now that can be problem of irradiate) -
Oh well I don't know if it's overrated but really any area of effect attack is worth getting (especially since villains overall don't seem to have as many of them as heroes). The irradiate extra effects are just a way to save slots in a way then if you look at it like this... not the best attack around but definatly solid.
Now snipes... used to have one but overall I don't see the point anymore... less damage per time, more endurance, can be interrupted and pulling and stuff is just as easy with any other attack. -
Irradiate doesn't do that much damage, still it's an area of effect attack that hits rather often and has the best defense debuff of the radiation attacks so it's definatly worth it (much better than some useless snipe).

Cos they put those big green circles round who they want you to attack first.

Just to make sure no one reads this wrong... The big green circles should be attacked only after anything nearby is dead. Else you annoy the nice radiation corruptor.
