Ice/Cold Domination

Hi

Just got my ice/cold corrupter up to lvl 25 and there are a few issues i'd like to put out there for any more experienced players of this build to comment on.

Firstly i don't think i need to say what a complete end hog this build is, i've compared it directly to my lvl 40 dark/dark build and while i do a lot more damage alot faster with ice i can basically attack for like a 3rd of the time before i'm completely drained of endurance. I thought that the lvl 38 power 'heatloss' might help solve that but have you seen the recharge on this thing? Is it classed as a nuke or something as even with 3 recharge SOs it still sucks to take that long to come back (btw i have no idea how to slot it really....gone 3 recharge 3 end mod at the moment as the planner doesn't list acc)

Ok on to my next issue....Arctic fog. I love group stealth powers (a la shadow fall) and was really looking forward to getting this power, thinking it would look just like steamy mist as it's essentially the same power. Why oh why oh why does it look like a giant leafblower and make a noise like a broken hoover?

So far i've been told it looks like a giant suction cup, a leafblower and several other things i wont mention in the interests of decency. And the noise it makes whilst cool at first is starting to grate now. I know the devs want to try to pretend that the cold dom set isn't just half of the storm set with some nice extra's thrown in but come on it's fooling no-one and is the reason i chose it...so many nice powers.

Anywho thats just my thoughts so far, if theres any response to this (from someone with a lvl 40 ice/cold pls....we are a scarce build) i will post a build. I would really value the advice of somone who has figured out the right slotting for the final powers in the set.

Ciao

endurance stopped being a problem for me after 3 slotted stamina. Slot an end red in every attack and snow storm and arctic fog.

The res to energy and fire from arctic fog is ace. I love the power.

dont skip benumb - it makes any elite boss/hero whatever do 50% less damage which is indispensible.

level 36 at the moment so dont have heat loss yet but as I said, I don't really have endurance problems anyway. When you get to 35 you have the ability to take down any spawn completely with 3 powers - sleet + ice storm + blizzard.

Much appreciated,

At the moment i have 3 slotted stamina, which has helped immensely but obviously haven't got the slots yet to put end red in my attacks though i have it planned in my build. I actually have 2 end red in both arctic fog and Snow storm, i guess the ice blasts just cycle so fast it still chews through my endurance. As i say i have compared a lvl 40 ice/cold build on planner to my lvl 40 dark/dark and with toggles running and stamina they have identical endurance usage, it's just when i start to attack that things quickly go south

Can i ask how you slotted benumb? i was planning on 1 acc 3 recharge (i have aim and obviously infrig to open, to make sure it sticks)

Thanks

benumb is currently slotted 2 accuracy but I intend to have it 2acc 3 recharge reduction (assuming there are slots available)

I use it mainly on elite bosses/heroes because it recharges slowly I try not to waste it but I always try and use it on big hitters if it's up (eg council werewolves and night widows)

on something like that I always lead with benumb purely because if/when you get their return fire, it will be 50% less. If you lead with infigidate then you get full force of their first attack. If that attack includes knockback/stun then you are in trouble because you can't get benumb off to reduce their damage.

For most mobs, snow storm cast in mid air so the jump lands out of line of sight sets up a nice (slow) pull then as they get closer, drop sleet for knockdown and -res - def, then ice storm, then either cycle targets quickly to get them in scourge range and let the rain finish them off, or drop blizzard if it's ready

As for your endurance problems, using the tactic above might help because you rely on scourge from the rain to finish them off so don't waste endurance on finishing them off with the end hungry blasts.

Of course tactics never work all the time in the same way. For example, werewolves, carnie strongmen and some others I forget are immune to slow so they always need to be held so sometimes it's better to start with a hold, other times better to start with benumb, other times with snow storm, others with sleet.

There's a REALLY good ice/cold guide on the us corruptor forum which helped me a lot. I might write one myself if I think I can say anything useful

A short note on Heat Loss: Yes the recharge rate is awful, even 3 slotted with recharge and hasten on but you should remember that it actually increases your endurance regen rate for quite some time (enough so you won't ever run out of endurance while it lasts) making the long recharge not as painful. Still with Ice/ you probably will still be low on endurance quite often (I know I am) as you'll want to use Blizzard quite often later on.
