    I'm not joking.

    1) Updated hardware? Do a stress test. A big one.

    2) It's a big change to the game. Shivans are invading, Praetorians are invading. At least fill the zones with Warworks with and Shivans. The other enemy factions should take advantage, right? See how Lord Recluse was klomping around Paragon.
  2. I also avoid escort missions if possible.
There's also something wacky about those NPCs with attacks going nuts and chasing after runners, dashing into spawns, and so on. Ugh.

On the bright side, at least the civilians don't die when they fall from heights. They are certain some tough civilians. Can you imagine if they break their legs when they jump from the 2nd storey of those rooms with bridges?

But why make fun of newbies, when you can have fun with newbies?
  4. How about invasions of every type! Rikti, Zombies, Rularuu, 5th column, Council, ALL AT ONCE!
  5. Make a warshade, has innate teleport.

Might as well make it a Hide and Seek game no? First newbie
to find it and open a trade window gets some stuff. Next teleport, and clue.

Remember to put search hide on.

As for me, I think I'm going to farm some influence, make a BOTLER-like toon and distribute it to the newbies.
Assuming that we even have an influx of new players...

Don't sexualise my male toons as rambo or conan and force them to choose between a crew-cut or barbaric mess.
  7. When there is a ninja invite leader in your team, you get a bemused team teleporting the mostly dead leader around as vengeance bait.
  8. Samuel:

I capitalised the name of the people to differentiate them from other words. I think pinyin convention is such that they will join two characters together if it is a compound word, so it is "shifu".

I know about all this because I'm chinese (as in racially). I live in the east and speak/read the language. If you have a thread on "help me pick a French name" you'll probably have a French EU player popping up.

If you have any more questions feel free to PM me.

There is no off-limits for using surnames as part of names. Besides, the English transliteration can look the same, but they can be completely different characters. "Gao Li" can mean "standing proud/tall" (a perfectly reasonable name parents give their children".

I am happy to help with your other names. You can PM me if you like.
  9. A guy who is called "Shen Shao Shi" would be "Shen shi fu" = "Shen" + "Master".

The case of Shi Shen fu is different. It is an ancient and obsolete usage. The fu (夫) of "Shi Shen fu" (石申夫) is different from "shi fu" (师傅 teacher/master, unless it's your teacher then it's 师父 teacher/father) . It is the "fu" of Confucious aka "Kong fu zi" (孔夫子) whose surname is Kong (孔). Unless you are a dead guy with cult status, modern people aren't going to "fu" (夫) you

Shen shi fu = what other people call your dude, surname Shen, 沈师傅
Shen shi fu = what your dude's disciples call him, surname Shen 沈师父
Shi Shen fu = Shi Shen, surname Shi name Shen, the dead dude with cult status, 石申夫

    Write it "S A B" or "S AB" or "S A-B" as you like. "AB S", "A B S", "A-B S" is also used when interacting with westerners.

I want to call this character "Shen" as the name with which he is addressed most often, which would be his given name. Not Shenshi, not Shen Shi, just Shen. The problem, as I understand it, is that if this does act like a generation name, then addressing someone by that is confusing since it can apply to any one of his immediate family.
Your best bet is to let Shen (沈) be the surname, "Shaoshi" be the name. For a 500 year-old guru he's probably going to be called "Master Shen" or "Teacher Shen". Nobody is going to use his name to his face.

You can use "Shen Shao Shi" ("Shao Shi" is the name), or just "Shen Shi (氏)" which is just a "person who is of surname/descent Shen".

Besides, most people in the game who sees "Shen Shan Shi" or "Shen Shi" would call him "Shen" anyway.

If you want him to refer to himself as "Shen", then as an ancient person, he can have the name "Shen Shen" and courtesy name "Shen Shao Shi". Then with the proper ancient person mannerism he will say something like "Shen will kill 10 Skuls" (referring to himself, his name).

Chun-Li is the whole name, she doesn't have a surname.
  11. Did this back when COV came out and got it to 20. The main problem is kill speed and endurance usage, but the endurance bit should be better now that we have inherent stamina. Pick up pool attacks -- air sup is great -- to supplement your 2 single target attacks. Aid self if you don't have a self-heal.

There's nothing to preclude you from getting pets even though you are playing petless. You don't need to summon them. If you end up in a team, you have the choice of deciding to summon the pets.

Worth it -- depends on what you mean by worth it. It's certainly worth the entertainment value, like a not-serious project to work on. But worth it as it's going to go places and melt faces, no.
  12. It's easier to come up with a meaning than pick a name for you... in fact, you can pick some tones that you like, and I'll come up with some meaning that you like.

Let's go with Shao Shenshi for now. (Going to use traditional characters here since he's old and names look nicer that way)

邵 as surname. If you don't like writing it as Shao, you can write it as Shaw.

Now Shenshi. There are a lot of characters that can be pronounced that way, but not all sound good in a name. Don't worry about the generational name and what not. This can be his 'nom de guerre'.

    神士 - "amazing knight/gentleman"
深士 - this is like a "hermit scholar"
    慎士 - "cautious warrior"
    神視 - "supernatural vision"
    深視 - "penetrating insight"

    On the more mystical side,
神石 - "magic stone" ... a bit weird but hey

Maybe people can give him titles like
    神師 - "amazing master"
    绅士 - "sir/gentleman"

And if you like him to be evil, there's always
神尸 - the "magic corpse". Err lol

    Hope that helps.
N.B: The tones are different but don't worry about it, people from different regions would pronounce the name differently anyway, i.e. not as "shenshi" but something else.
  13. I'm really happy that the devs have listened to player feedback.

However, I'm really ambivalent about the new-fangled CoT look. Other people have said it better I think, basically that the flavour of the group is changed.

Since the change is going in no matter what, I guess I'll just request the minions be made more drab and unspikey. It makes the Lts and bosses stand out more.
  14. I think the only thing that would upset me is "pay for power" where the "power" is greatly unbalanced compared to what is available. Small things that give people an edge are acceptable.

Gated access to content is not so different compared to CoV or Going Rogue. Since VIPs will have 400 paragon points every month, we should be able to pay for access to that gated content.

"Pay for cool" (costumes, emotes, auras) is completely fine with me.

  17. /Sign for removing minimum player number for trials and TFs.

Add a "red lettered warning" that the contact recommends the player to recruit at least [insert old number restriction] of fellow heroes, rogues, villains. But give us the freedom to choose how many people we want.

Signed. I would also like to see access to tells. Getting some gold spam is not a big deal for me, but feedback from trial players I've invited is that they felt cut-off and disinclined to continue when they couldn't even send tells or use channels to get into teams.

Besides Tells, I'd like the "help" channel, "LFG" channel to be made accessible to Free players too. For Premium, maybe limited acccess to global channels, or global channel access that can be purchased?

Disagree. Wary of gold farmers and the like abusing it.
However, I want consignment house access to be *purchasable*. (I guess the logic goes by if someone wants to abuse it, then they'll have to invest some capital first )

  20. The main problem is Wormhole. Fix that and Gravity will be vastly improved.
Increase radius of effect, decrease animation time of Wormhole. If need be, increase endurance cost to compensate.

A change that people have been suggesting which I like:
Make Lift AoE. You can change the recharge, acc, end cost to compensate. This gives Gravity a kind of AoE until 26 (29 to slot up Wormhole)

I don't mind keeping Dimension Shift as is. One day devs will come up with content to make it useful! I hope!

It's not hard to improve Gravity. But it hasn't been done even though players have been giving these suggestions for ages. Maybe when tons of people make gravity/time control controllers in I21, they will make a fuss so that the devs finally do something.

I understand kicking someone who through malicious behaviour causes a trial to fail.
I don't understand kicking someone who only lowered run efficiency in a trial.
...Unless the leader advertised it as "high efficiency speed trial run, follow my instructions exactly or be kicked", or the like.
Why not advertising your runs as such in the future?
It will be win-win: they don't get kicked, you don't get headaches.

Note that earthquakes of every increase in magnitude occur one magnitude less frequently than earthquakes of the previous magnitude.

Suppose the cost of increasing the sturdiness of the reactor scales with earthquake, then the cost would exponentially increase (earthquake magnitude scale is logarithmic), while the frequency of the event you are protecting against falls exponentially too.

Even a rich country like Japan has to call it quits at some point because the cost becomes prohibitive very quickly. The Japanese do not give me the impression of being sloppy and lazy engineers. My impression is that this falls under "act of God".

Unfortunately it's the big, rare quakes that cause the most damage.
