  1. If you want people to actually travel then you shouldn't complain about Ninja Run, since it makes travelling more fun and is slower than most other travel powers (usually), so people will spend more time travelling and have more fun doing it.

I still support Quinch's suggestion since it removes a zoning, which must be better for everyone: the server, the network, our clients and the players who don't have to wait for no good reason, or suffer a potential crash if they have a spotty connection/slow computer.
  2. Oh the outbreak map, great idea! It's a great generic outdoors map. I second that.

    Maybe?

I give up. If people can't even tell that they are exploiting when they go through all that trouble to exploit, there's no way they will ever get it.

1: It didn't hurt storytellers much, if at all.

2: Storytellers didn't bring it on themselves.

I still haven't hurt one bit from the limited rewards on custom critters. Mostly because I hardly used them to begin with in my own arcs. I have always preferred to use standard critters, and I have always preferred to fight standard critters. Custom critters are great as bosses and allies but that's about it.

You mean like Cimerorans and Devouring Earth and Sky Raiders and other buffing enemies who get benefits from remaining close to each other or their emanators or force field generators?
  6. Are you updating her local version and then checking for the updates in the published version? You have to edit the published version and then republish it (not unpublish > edit > publish) for the live version to change.
  7. Set up a wireless connection to the client. Then try stacking metal objects around it until the connection gets really bad, or move it so it's almost out of range. See if it loses packages at a reasonable rate. Then perhaps you can be testing under conditions similar to us at home.

  9. I can't believe I didn't check this thread sooner.

I don't have any arcs in your level range at the moment so I'll just leave these IDs here and hope you feel the urge to take a stroll down memory lane to a time when you had no enhancements and not a bit of inf to your name.

All of these arcs are designed to be played as a Soldier or Widow of Arachnos, working for Arachnos and following orders in a chain of command. You might want to keep that in mind when you play them to get in the right mindset.

First we have "The Tangled Weave", a level 1-10 beginner's arc showing how Arachnos keeps Mercy Island under control and guides the participants in 'Project Destiny' from behind the scenes.
    ID # 338575.

Second: "A Taste For Evil". Level 10-20. You have been assigned to Cap Au Diable where your *** is grass and Marshal Brass is the lawnmower. He's got a cushy job for you testing the new NutriPasteĀ™ flavor before it is released on the open market. Don't worry, it's been thoroughly tested on prisoners and university students already.
    ID # 349034.

Finally, for now, "Fear And Loathing On Striga". Villains have been deprived of this pleasant zone for far too long and here is my attempt to simulate the experience. Level 20-29. The Council is losing its grip on Striga after their plan to launch a giant robot at Paragon City was thwarted by a group of meddling heroes. You must make sure that the sudden power vacuum is filled in a manner which pleases Arachnos.
    ID # 350522.

Thanks in advance for playing any or all of these, and for the potential reviews.

Ah yes, here it is: http://www.cityofheroes.com/game_inf...clockwork.html

    The relevant section:

"There were dozens of Sprockets attempting to construct scores more of their kind. Blue Steel scouted ahead and reportedly saw a young, disheveled man overseeing the operations."
  11. ... They can barely make the UI work as simple as it is right now. I'm constantly having text disappear on me because I want to highlight something and cut it out, and then I suddenly look at an empty textbox.

I can only imagine the problems that would arise if they tried to add a spell checker and dictionary and crazy stuff like that. No, write your texts in a proper program and then copy and paste it. It's the solution for my problem so it could be your solution as well. And if that causes the game to crash, just imagine how much more prone to crashing it would be by adding the extra strain of running a spell and grammar checker as well.
  12. I'm just going to add a little something about what I mean when I say "designed for VEAT play", as I describe all of these arcs.

The VEATs are made for teamwork. They make an ordinary team much stronger (if they use their leadership toggles) and a team made up solely of VEATs is practically unstoppable.

The Kheldians are the complete opposite, behaving as some kind of parasites to draw power from their teammates while giving nothing unique back to the team as a whole. I say this as the player of two level 50 Kheldians so I have nothing against the AT as such except that they don't really serve a purpose on a team.

The arcs are designed for VEAT play not only by assuming that the player is a soldier or widow in the Arachnos army, and expecting them to follow orders (or at least look like they are following orders) in a chain of command, but also and perhaps more importantly I try to include lots of optional allies. An AT based on teamwork is quite pointless without a team and since the MA is easier to use solo I don't want to deny the solo player the pleasure of using those excellent leadership toggles.

So basically: VEAT play = plenty of allies available, if you want them.

Given the backstory you established in the third mission (the excellent representation of CK's relationship to his Pa), I think it would make much more thematic sense to strengthen the father/child theme, rather than trying to create a childhood (romantic?) history between them. I mean, of course you do acknowledge and discuss the protective aspects, but the romantic/peer thing just felt tacked on and contradictory to the game timeline. It's just my opinion, mind, you can take it or leave it, but I just think it'd make for a much stronger theme altogether to emphasize the parental issues.
Fusionette and Faultline seem to be about 20 or so. Penny is probably only slightly younger, so perhaps 18. I have no evidence for this other than their appearances and behaviour.

I'm almost certain that the Clockwork King really is in love with Penny, but what most people forget is that he was quite young when he was turned into the King. I think he might be just slightly older than Penny, which means that it's possible that they had met before, as kids.

Personally I think they just started talking through telepathy and became friends before any of them knew who the other was, much like an online relationship. The King, being the nerdy type, seems a bit more infatuated with Penny while she probably considers him just another of her many telepathically connected friends from all over the world. The addition of a common childhood history is not necessary but it doesn't contradict canon - it strengthens it.
  14. Fear And Loathing On Striga
    Arc ID: 350522
    Level: 20-29
Keywords: Ideal for Teams, Canon Related, Drama
Description: The Council is losing its grip on Striga after their giant robot scheme was thwarted by a group of heroes. You have to fill the sudden power vacuum in a manner which pleases Arachnos. [Designed for VEAT play. Contains an AV/EB.]

Finally - Striga for villains. It's not all I wanted it to be but that would be 4 complete arcs by itself. Maybe I'll expand on it if we're allowed to buy more slots some day.

Now nominated for best new arc in the January Player Choice Awards. I'm honored.
  15. A Taste For Evil
    Arc ID: 349034
    Level: 10-20
    Keywords: Canon Related, Sci-Fi, Drama
Description: You have been volunteered to try out the new NutriPasteā„¢ flavor before it gets introduced on the market. Enjoy your tasty and nutritious snack. Please report any unexpected side-effects to your superior officer. [Designed for VEAT play.]

Review by Police Woman. 4 stars.
  16. Your critters must be in a group with all tiers provided for (at least one each of minion, lt, boss) and they must have all the powers in their Standard selection, at least. If you're sure all of this is correct and they still don't give any rewards then it must be a bug.
  17. Sorry to have to tell you this but it's not there. If it ever was, it's not anymore.
  18. Alright, here goes!

Name: Diamonds Are A Girl's Best Friends
    ID: 114284
    Morality: Villainous
    Level: 15-20
Description: A story of love, death and betrayal which will bring you from the heights of Aeon City's penthouse apartments to the irradiated catacombs of Bloody Bay. You must deal with a new group of heroes trying to clean up the Rogue Isles in this moral and emotional rollercoaster ride!

    *crosses fingers*
  19. I thought the setting for ambush location was pretty much non-functional? I.e. it doesn't do anything, the ambush will always spawn near the trigger. I even seem to remember a patch note where this menu was removed just because it didn't actually do anything. Am I thinking of something else?
  20. Maybe the civilian enclave could be turned into a hospital filled with wounded rikti instead? If that works with the plot of course, I can't really remember why it had to be a group of civilians.
  21. If I'm not mistaken, Rogues won't fight other Rogues.

  23. Ack, I knew there was something I had forgot about. I fell asleep at my desk around 8 PM and decided to go to bed early so I missed last night's meeting.

I was talking about two separate things: first how good it feels to finally get rid of the stupid morality limitation on powersets. Second how bad it would be to keep that other arbitrary limitation instead of completing the proliferation procedure. What if I want to play a blaster with darkness powers?
