Quote:You guys mean to tell me,and this applies to those who simply love to play the game hard as well, that whenever you want to team, and people say "No" over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again..that that dosent make you mad?
This game's teaming rate is starting to match that of WoW.
If Rewards arent the answer, what is,or could be?
Come on players, you wrecked AE and all those teams that I just loved joining and playing, and making progress in-game on,especially on red side. You wrecked AE because we wanted to make the game harder for players to find teammates and gain levels, while you all laughed and danced in joy.You left other players no choice but to use AE when you just sat on our butts at Pocket D,and meaninglessly roleplayed. What the heck did you guys care anyway?!?!You all were too busy holding Pocket D down.
Now,I am presenting to you all something else to destroy:The players ability(including me) to be unable to say no to teams, whether it be trying to get a coveted reward we all want,or something else entirely.
I cannot explain it any better than this way.If you all do not know what I am talking about, dont worry..this will happen to you all in time, and then you will know what I am talking about, but how could you not know what I speak of?
Let us destroy the need to not want to team.Let us put some meat on a stick to motivate those statues with something who just come on-line to take up space.Who's with me?!
Thank god we can /ignore and /hide from people like the OP. -
Gifting used to be big on all the servers. However the generosity took a severe body blow by individuals that didn't appreciate the gestures. Many players got tired of being harassed every time they logged on by people that started demanding handouts just because someone was nice to them. Some were simply annoying and the worst offenders were obnoxious and rude with their demands. Those of us that still like to perform random acts of kindness have found alternate methods to avoid harrassment, like overbidding at the market or gifting people when they are busy at the trainer/store/respec contacts.

I always thought it would be nice if they turned the Raid Teleport into an AE terminal for bases.

Quote:I've always found that the best place to ask about technical issues is in Technical Issues & Bugs section.Hello I just started playing coh again. I'm having trouble when I move with a annoying lag. I can move ok but keep getting a slight lag. I try lowering some of my settings but no luck so far. I'm using the same computer but had to put a new graphic card in since the other one broke. I'm using a Radeon X1300/X1550 series. Is there some place on the boards where they list the graphic cards that work with coh. Was trying to figure out if that was the problem. Any suggestions is welcome :-).

Quote:Sucks to be wrong.Exactly, Ur is a word, but not ur. In the same way that Lincoln is a word, but not lincoln.
'ur' is also the Basque word for 'water'.

Quote:Your: the possessive form of you (as in "your shoes")
You're: contraction of you are (as in "you're right")
ur: this is not a word
Strive to be the best. But remember that there is always someone better.
Sorry to dispute your signature but it is incorrect. You are correct that "ur" is being used incorrectly, however it really is a word.
Ur was a city in ancient Sumer, located at the site of modern Tell el-Mukayyar in Iraq's Dhi Qar Governorate. Once a coastal city near the mouth of the then Euphrates river on the Persian Gulf, Ur is now well inland. Currently, Ur is south of the Euphrates on its right bank, 16 kilometres (9.9 mi) from Nasiriyah, Iraq and close to the site of ancient Eridu.
The site is marked by the ruins of the Great Ziggurat of Ur, which contained the shrine of Nanna, excavated in the 1930s. The temple was built in the 21st century BC (short chronology), during the reign of Ur-Nammu and was reconstructed in the 6th century BC by Nabonidus.

Quote:Indeed!
This "No" thing is happening over and over so this post must happen over and over but not as often as people say "No!"
Arent I fun?You guys sure are...n't!
Yeah right. We're the bad guys because you think the universe revolves around you and want people to drop whatever they are doing to please you. -

I just checked and it seems to be working fine.

Quote:By forcing people to fight for the right to use a name I hope you mean we get to kick the imposters butt in real life.I don't think that is a great idea.
Others have already posted about how that will lead to multiple character with the same name running down the street at the same time.
I would certainly hope that every time someone runs into someone with the same name they would have to stop and fight them for the right to use that name. -

Quote:Nice idea showing that easy names still exist. Here are some of the ones I made in recent months.Indeed, you can get names easily if you have any remote level of creativity..
Lookit my sig for some.. and a few others I've gotten:
Sewer Crocodile
Zolgar (actually surprised me)
Sapphire Tempest (took a few tries to get something close that fit)
Twilight Nacreouse (May have spelled that wrong, the name stems from a type of cloud.. she's an air elemental.)
Amezarak
I could list more, but a lot of them are names I pull out of my *** (Therias, Qiari, etc.)
Very few names I have used have had puncuation, fewer have had numbers.
This "problem" is a fact of MMOs and something that we all deal with. There's no viable way to change it that isn't going to be annoying.
Bulldog Branson
Tachyon Wave
Photosphere
Temporal Flux
Cobalt-57
Dusk Defender
Hell Flower
Hell's Faire
Red Sprite Lightning
City-Life
Tectonic Shaman
Sim-Sim Salabim
Bermuda Triangle
Tomato Can
Boston Brute
Red Wytch
Black-Orchid
Plenty of easy names are still out there. -

If not a color then a title that simply says "Trial Account" that goes away when an account is activated.

Quote:If he or anyone else who has opposed your idea is trolling you then notify the mods. Oh wait you can't because no one has trolled you. Darn. You'll just have to grow up and deal with crticism like an adult.Perhaps you could point out where I've changed my idea?
As far as trolling goes, your post qualifies.

Quote:Denial . . . Gotta love it.Sorry to disagree, but in no way has my idea has been destroyed.
You seem to be ignoring the fact that it's not a personal opinion. The devs designed this game to use enhancements not equipment.Quote:1. "Wow has something like this and I strongly dislike WoW. Therefore we shouldnt have it." - this is a statement of your personal preference, one with which I disagree. I could give a long list of stuff I dislike about WoW, and an equally long list of things I do. Your personal prejudice shouldnt narrow what this game can and should implement in the future.
No you just said this game needs rings, belts, necklaces, etc. that have the ability to affect powers. Then you went on to request the devs add nine additional costume slots, then made nine examples of costume pieces that would be placed in each slot.Quote:2. "I dont want items to dictate my appearance." This response given by people who read about 2 lines of my idea. Nowhere did I say the items would change your appearance.
Only in your last sentence did you toss in as an afterthought that the costume pieces might be invisible.Quote:What I'd propose are the following item slots:
1. Necklace ( Focus: Buff, Debuffs, Control, Special )
2. Left Ring ( Focus: Damage/Accuracy )
3. Right Ring ( Focus: Damage/Accuracy )
4. Belt Buckle ( Focus: HP/Endurance Regeneration )
5. Left Kneepad ( Focus: Defense/Resistance )
6. Right Kneepad ( Focus: Defense/Resistance )
7. Left Ankle Bracelet ( Focus: Running/Flight Speed )
8. Right Ankle Bracelet ( Focus: Running/Flight Speed )
9. Cape Brooch ( Special )
I would not make these items overly powerful - more like "nice to have", but not a huge advantage.
Examples:
Necklace of Control: 2% extended duration on hold powers
Ring of Domination: 2% extra single target damage
Ring of Fire: 10% of your smashing/lethal damage is converted to fire damage
Buckle of Fortitude: 1% increase to endurance regeneration and 2% extra hit points
Bracelet of Akira: 2% increase to flight speed
Brooch of Arachnida: 1% chance to spawn several spider pets ( 10 min cooldown after proc )
Crimson Kneepads: 3% increase to fire resistance
Kneepad of Conversion: 10% of energy damage taken is treated like S/L damage.
Kneepad of Punishment: 1% of damage taken is mitigated and reflected back to your attacker.
"I'd leave it up to the devs whether these items would be visible or not."
You are delusional if you think people wouldn't look at these things as something to be farmed, or that RMT companies wouldn't try selling them. We don't need more of that crap.Quote:3. "I dont want to farm for items" - no one would force you. I explicitly said the items would be 'nice to haves', and not particularly overpowering.
No what we really said is that CoH should not be taking BAD IDEAS from other games. Implementing bad ideas is a sure way to kill the game.Quote:4. "CoH should not be taking ideas from other games" - follow this philosophy and CoH will be digging itself into a very tiny, unchanging, stagnant hole. Taking ideas from other games, where it makes sense, is not a bad thing.
No one is forcing you to play this game. You are free to play the other games that do have items.Quote:5. "My toon doesnt thematically use items" - ok, then dont use items, no one would force you to. They would be completely optional.
As has been pointed out the devs are already working on a global enhancement idea that will have a similar result to your idea so working on your idea is a waste of time and resources. No one cares that you don't like the name "global enhancements".Quote:6. "IO's already serve this purpose." My idea is additive, not meant to replace IOs. As I've already stated, these items could add additional procs or abilities that you wouldnt get with an SO or IO or serve as global enhancements ( similar to a permanent inspiration ). -
Quote:I chose to restrict bin access on certain bins to the leadership positions that existed when I "inherited" the SG's. I'm not letting anyone take base salvage until the founders return. That's 10,000+ items. I sorted the Enhancement and Inspiration bins and the really rare stuff is under lock and key as well. No one can add or remove. The remaining storage bins I leave open for the SG.Well, it's a tougher responsibility knowing that there are so many items in the base that others have put in there. Much of it, I'm sure, was meant for SG sharing with the basic philosophy of take what you want but put one or more of something else back in of equal or greater value. Other things are probably personal stashes not meant to be used by other SG members, and the organization and locations of the many racks seems to reflect this. Given all what's in there, I'm very reluctant to invite any new members or promote any of the few who have joined fairly recently. I expect some of the more dormant senior SG members to be on this DXP weekend, players who are far more senior to me in terms of game time and experience, some of whom I know fairly well even outside of CoX, and I intend to pass the baton to one of them after discussing it with several of them.
I dedicated 2 bins to holiday salvage and I personally keep them stocked for members to use. One holds Candy Canes, and the other holds complete Halloween salvage sets.
While in charge I have also expanded the SG's capabilities by earning the necessary badges. In one, even tho I hate PvP, I went and got them the Dimensional Vortex. -
Quote:Brilliant.1. All of them.
2. Depends. People don't stick to any one server necessarily. Some do. Others play across multiple servers. Where, precisely, would you count those people? If you're looking for load, watch the server list. It goes from last on at the top, then lightest to heaviest load.
3. There have been spikes and dips throughout its history, but 100-125k is the range it's been in. Recently we haven't had numbers published, but have been told subs went up recently.

Quote:Oh I understand that RL issues can impact a persons ability to play, however if someone vanishes without a word to anyone I don't believe they deserve special treatment unless there is an unusual circumstance.Well, in all fairness, sometimes RL intervenes.
As a junior CoX player, I'm already in the position of maintaining a SG group base, while some of my SG partners have taken a time out for one reason or another. I know some of them personally through our days playing D&D and other roleplaying and strategy games way back in the '70's, and I know our SG leader through quite a few personal chats and some play.
I'm guessing the SG leader in question here is close to my age (that is to say, near if not at AARP age) and if not, at least at the age where family and/or career tends to take a fair amount of precedence over game time.
Yeah, been there, done that... all too often, even if not here (yet) in CoX.
So, really, I don't blame the SG leader. Of course, it would have helped if s/he had designated an SG leader to take over their role.
Take the base and care for it. Call it your own and keep the name for posterity's sake.
The ex-leader in the other thread could have easily taken 5 minutes before his account expired to logon and say something to the SG members. He could have even made it the SG message of the day.
"Hi this is leader. I'm not going to be playing for a while. I don't know for how long. I'm leaving Ironblade in charge til I get back. I hope to be back as soon as possible. Bye."
I'm personally caretaker of two SG's whose leader's asked me to watch over things while they are gone. When and if they get back I'll happily give them back leadership if they want it. I've been holding one SG since before I9, and the second SG since Jan of this year. -
Quote:1. I cut the guy to ribbons for his bashing Customer Support because they wouldn't get involved. The only promise this game makes to inactive accounts is that your characters won't be deleted.hm, and it seems you were one of the more unsympathetic ones in that thread. You said: (post #8 on the first page)
So you cut that dude to ribbons and then express surprise that there isn't more sympathy for the missing leader in this thread???
2. I have no sympathy for someone who acts like he is entitled to keep SG leadership after he lets his account lapse for 6 months, and makes no effort to notify their SGmates he's leaving but will return before his sub expires.
3. Yeah I am surprised that some of the "you should be able to be absent indefinitely and still retain ownership of your SG" crowd haven't responded here. Maybe they haven't read this thread yet.
