Quote:Personally I don't know what you need to do to get on the american servers from Europe. Hopefully one of our more knowledgeable forum members can advise you on what steps to take.I'm currently on a trial account so it shouldn't be too much of a hassle to try the american servers, right?
Also I hope they can help direct you to where you can purchase an american copy of the game if you decide that you like the NA servers. I know it can be tricky for EU customers to get american editions.
Once you do get on the American servers you should be aware that Freedom and Virtue have the highest populations, but with the release of Going Rogue they are currently the hardest to get onto.
Virtue is also the unofficial role playing server.
Pinnacle is known as the drunk server
Victory the unofficial Euro server
Justice the unofficial Aussie server
Freedom the unofficial PvP server
I can't remember the rest off the top of my head
When you are on a trial account I'd like to suggest that you open the search window and add a comment along the lines of
Trial Account please send invite can't respond to tells.
This is because of the trial account limitations that were put into effect to prevent spam abuse by goldfarming companies.
The message will also let the helpful players know they may want to show you the ropes and answer questions. There are a lot of us that look for trials just for that purpose.
Oh and just in case you weren't aware of all the trial restrictions here they are.
Restrictions
Trial Accounts cannot email other players
Trial Accounts may not level past 14
Trial Accounts can only have 50k influence
Trial Accounts may not join global channels
Trial Accounts can only speak in:
/local
/hc (the Help channel)
/team
Trial Accounts cannot invite players to team
Trial Accounts may join teams, but not invite other players
Trial Accounts may not join SuperGroups.
Trial Accounts may not create Mission Architect arcs. They can not interface with the Architect Entertainment Stations. However, they can be invited onto a team that is running MA missions.
I know these seem draconian and annoying but the RMT spam was really bad before they added the restrictions. -
Please correct me if I'm wrong but I don't believe the missions scale outside their level range. So if you have a morality mission from Nova, the difficulty will be scaled to that zones level of player. The higher the character level the easier he will blow thru the opposition.

Quote:It wasn't a stand-alone game. It was marketed as an expansion and by all MMO standards was an expansion since it was still using the same system CoH was. If CoV had absolutely nothing linked system wise to CoH then it would be consider a stand-alone game.

It wasn't until July 16, 2008, NCsoft merged the two games' content together; thus a player who only owned City of Heroes could now play City of Villains, and vice versa. Prior to this, a purchase was required to access either game's content.
Prior to that, on September 29, 2006 NCSoft did offered to sell both complete games together in one package when they released Good Vs Evil. Customers had the option of buying either game separately or getting both games in one box for one low price. -
Quote:Wow, I didn't expect this many answers, thank you all! Very helpful forum. I may try a scrapper then, to learn the ways of the game and later decide if I want to go like something else. By the way, this guys PM'ed about joining the server Virtue but I can't seem to find it in the server selection, just Defiant (?), another english server (not Virtue) and two german servers. How do I join virtue?

Just so you know, while there's nothing wrong with the European servers, they do have a significantly lower population than the American servers, and quite a few less. They have 4 and we have 11.
There are several EU players that have chosen to get an NA account so they can have access to 11 servers and the larger player base. Some I believe have an account on both. So if after playing a while you feel you'd like something a little busier, you can look into starting an NA account. The only downside is that you can't move characters between accounts. -

If the OP wants to respec he can use one of the many options we already have available. -

Quote:Power did you start a new account? What if there was a magic control?Like the "card trick" emote but the cards explode on your foes?Or a hat the swallows enemies?Or a demon bunny as a pet that pops out of a huge hat?And who wouldnt want a rope that ties up freakshow?Or to turn a lost into a frog? The Magic Control powerset would be awesome!!Definitely gotta have a move I thought of calling "electric touch" kinda like the gravity power "propel" just has electricity coursing through it,and explodes on contact!!With the two main weapons that are a wand and cards. Both customizable!!Magic Control powerset would definitely be the best control powers ever!!

Quote:Nope not a bug, working as intended. The introduction is it's own separate set of windows that introduces the contact and tells you about him. After you read that it's up to you to decide if you want to run his story-arc. If you don't the contact will never clutter up your contact list like so often happens in the old CoH. You just leave. If you do want the missions you have to click on the contact to open up the window and start the story-arc.That actually sounds like a bug to me, once you are introduced and actually speak to them and then decide to not take a mission right away, they should in theory appear in your contact list. If the reason it they do not appear like they are suppose is because it is their work around for not forcing you into a story arc then it is understandable, but still sounds like a bug to me.

As much as I love my own storm, I have to agree with Fulmens that it's not a beginner set. I'd suggest looking at the other electric sets for teaming character and learn the ins and outs of storm on a solo character.

Quote:Go back to where you started. If another exit exists, it will appear on your map.Since I have not lived to find out, what does "Find Mission Exit" mean?
1) Get back to where you came in, or
2) There is an exit you are required to find to successfully complete the mission
At the moment, I have exited the mission via Hospital and it ended, but now I have another.
Thanks for the help! -
There are no supergroups or bases in Praetoria at this time.

Quote:This game doesn't have spells or skills. You should check out the following link and read up on what types of characters you can make.Hello! I'm currently downloading the game and therefore cannot explore the variety of spells available and would therefore like to know what kind of skills are "all around" good and appropriate to a Infamous kind of character? (Lightning, no swords, guns and so on)
Sincerely.

Quote:For the tl;dr crowd: 1-20 content in Praetoria is necessary on release of GR so new players can have something to do in the new zones. Endgame content is much less important *right now*, because the focus is on getting * and keeping* new players *right now*.
Of course the devs concentrated on 1-20 content rather than endgame for this expansissue. Think about it...they had a new expansion and issue coming out, and they could either include the 1-20 Praetorian content, or the Incarnate system for endgame. They are hoping that GR brings in new players. By definition, new players do not have level 50 characters. Thus, endgame content would be of no use to new players, until they reached 50. Also, while we vets can probably run through the 1-20 Praetorian content in a short time, newbies most likely won't. We all know how to slot enhancements, how to use Wentworth's, where the train stations are and how to use them, how and when to get a Raptor Pack, etc., etc. Newbies don't know this stuff, and that will slow their progress through the early levels. I know it did for me, and we didn't even have most of the stuff I mentioned when I was a newbie. So 1-20 content is likely to last any new players more than long enough for the devs to finish the Incarnate system and implement it well before any new players reach the level cap.
Also, it would have been pretty damn stupid to make a whole new SIDE to the game, roll it out and say, "Look at the new Praetorian zones! Aren't they beautiful? Of course you can't actually DO anything in them, because we were working on endgame content rather than content for the whole new part of the game we just rolled out."
Hey! None of your common sense and rational explanations here buddy. This here be the Internet, and we don't cotton to your kind of babble round here. So take yer explunashuns an git out!

Quote:This. I'm hoping we'll see some similar changes made in Paragon City and the Rogue Isles. It would also be nice if it was added to the tailors.I'm sure your annoyance level is nowhere near what it is for everyone around you and others like you that feel like they need all their auras, shields, auto firing hasten, and pets all out while they market.
Small price to pay, methinks, for some peace. It takes all of ten seconds to turn on everything again, if that. Is your time that packed that re-toggling things throws your whole schedule off? -
Since the queue feature is only activated during times of excessively high server loads, why would anyone notice it when it is inactive.
-
Quote:You were give 2 contacts to go to at level 4 but when you went to them you just clicked thru their introduction and left without getting a mission from them. Since you didn't get a mission, they won't show up on your contact list. You need to go back to them and start their story arcs.I must've missed something, but I can't figure it out.
Level 6 Resistance Dom, I have only 2 contacts, both inactive: Calvin Scott and Praetor White. Neither will give me a mish. White tells me to get out there and beat on thugs (not an actual mission, that's just his text), Scott tells me to come back at Level 8. The only contact icon on my map is White.
So, what did I miss?
Edit: Also before posting you could have found this out by reading one of the other threads on the same topic. The Search tool is our friend.

I wish I knew the answer to that for certain. Although I don't see why not since it's just a code that unlocks the perk, I can't say there isn't some coding preventing it.
If ya do manage to get a code I sure hope it works for you. -

Nope. Not anti-logic at all. Just an observation on human nature. No matter what the devs do people will complain.

I have my moments.

Quote:Nah. You keep that code. You deserve it. The way we're being treated isn't NC's fault, it's Gamestops.
Well, I'm sorry, I did get them and did load it on, since the code was there and all. Had I known it was exclusive stuff, I would probably have waited to do that, actually. It does make me feel a bit guilty.
It's the kind of thing that if NC had any control over it, they really should *take* my code away, and give it to someone who can prove they were stiffed on it. I wouldn't have an issue with that.
On a side note I've noticed we have a better class of consumer than some other games I've played where this same thing happened.
Cough!
*Cryptic*
Cough!
I saw people ragequitting and demanding their money back from the game company rather than making an issue of it with Gamestop.
I'm almost proud of the way the people I've seen here are taking it to Gamestop instead of blaming NCSoft. -
Quote:The options are consistent in Praetoria. Everyone is free to choose to do the solo missions or skip them.Yeah it couldn't possibly be that different people have different taste and therefore request multiple things, or that OPTIONS are the consistent wanted factor in either request.
Just like players are free to choose to ignore/participate in
PvP
Cross faction teaming in RWZ/Crim
Task Forces
Zone events
Holiday events
Mission Architect
The Arena
The Market
Crafting Recipes
Badge Hunting
The funniest thing about these complaints about the solo missions is that if they really are teaming with other people they'll be blowing past those missions and never know they had the opportunity to do them. Only the soloists are going to encounter the bulk of the few solo missions, and speaking as someone that did a lot of soloing during the beta the most I saw on any one Praetorian character was 6. -
Quote:Zek, if you haven't redeemed the code you got yet, you can pm it to me.Yeah I got those. They were from the reciept printout, so.... >_> someone in my area who preordered, I hope I didn't screw up your sale. It wasn't my fault, I told the guy I didn't have a preorder... :/
Oh and I love you and your cats.

Quote:12 solo only missions out of 20 levels is no way even remotely close to being mostly solo. Especially since you can skip them.I made a post in another thread explaining that gr was going to be mostly solo and I got shouted down.
Ahem. I told you so nyah.
So your claims are full of crap.
Not only should you have been shouted down, you should have been held down and given pink bellies, atomic wedgies, and wet willies, then finished off with a chocolate swirlie.
Neener neener neener.
