What is with those rapid waves of You know what's. I lost count after 6 of them. I was soloing the tip mission and I hate to think how large the mobs would be on a full team.

In a perfect world it would be great, but how often does that happen in a corporation. The website guys probably don't even start work until 9 am pacific time.

Quote:Your assuming that the people that are doing the update to the servers also maintain the website.Okay - another gripe - one that i know many here will disagree with.
Update server status properly so we know what's going on. It takes a few seconds if you set it up so someone just pushes a button - servers down longer than expected - back up in ... - or something to that effect. It really isn't difficult or time consuming. -
Quote:You do realize that the European customers have their own servers right? And that the European Mod is telling the European players that their servers are up.Very aware of this. But they need to stop announcing that servers are up when they're still down; usually remaining down for another 30 - 90 minutes AFTER they say servers are up and ready to go. This has been happening virtually every maintanance period for the last several weeks.
Did you also know that England is a part of Europe and they speak English there? So the section of the forums they use is the same one that American players use. -
10. INTERRUPTION OF SERVICE
(a) NC Interactive reserves the right to interrupt the Service from time to time on a regularly scheduled basis or otherwise with or without prior notice in order to perform maintenance. -
Quote:++1Sorry, can't say I agree. At all.
The more I think about it, the more this one is becoming my favorite booster they've done. Fifteen costume pieces -- 5 capes and 10 auras (auras with multiple options) -- makes me a happy camper. I use capes often. I use auras often. If you don't, then your wallet should be excited you don't have to buy this one.
In fact, I'd much rather have more targeted boosters like this, which I can either take or leave, than have hodge-podge boosters which end up maybe having one or two things I like, but are otherwise filled with stuff I'll never use -- like the science booster, which was pretty useless to me except for the super tailor. None of the previous boosters besides Magic have looked as interesting to me as this -- 10 auras I can use from level 1.
I'm not disappointed, not one bit.

Ditto here. This is by far my favorite booster. -

Quote:Well if the devs are going to leave the current PvP zones where they are then there's no reason for them to create a PvP dedicated server. PvP players have no motivation to throw away everything they've accomplished with their current characters just to start over from scratch on a PvP only server. Instead they'll stay where they are and continue to use the current zones. What outrage? Leave the PVP zones alone on the existing servers. There are PVE players who venture into PVP zones occasionally... either for the rewards that can be found there or for the occasional PVP excursion or player- or SG-sponsored PVP event. And casual PVPers can enjoy a PVP-lite experience.
Meanwhile, there's a whole crowd of PVP gamers that want all kinds of things in PVP that would utterly wreck the experience for new gamers and casual gamers alike. What I'm saying is to create a server dedicated to this crowd and give those gamers the things they want... there.
Another thing you seem to have overlooked is that PvP is gated to a minimum level of 15 in this game. The devs aren't going to let people auto level to level 15.
If you are suggesting a new server where all the zones are open to PvP then you are seriously overestimating the size of the PvP population in this game. In it's heyday the PvP population was only a tiny fraction of the playerbase and they have a hard enough time finding opponents in the 4 current zones so you are delusional if you think it will be easier for PvPers to find opponents if they have to search 50+ zones. Especially when there will be a significant portion of them that will refuse to leave their home servers where they can do both PvP and PvE. -

Since I am new to base development, I never really gave much thought to a hoarding issue.
But if you see my breakdown of how my base is set up, I have 12 salvage storage bins, if you consider the different numbers of salvage in the game at the moment, and evenly split them among the 12 storage bins, you end up with 3 salvage of each kind.
Now, if you have a fairly active SG with players crafting, and periodically checking to put salvage back into the bins; the larger the SG the less practical for flow purposes is 3 salvage per type becomes. I imagine as Penny said, if she is an SG of 1, then there is more than ample storage for any of her crafting needs, then add mule alts, email, WW, and vaults then storage could even be seen as excessive. But I seriously doubt that a base of 3 salvage is adequate for any SGs larger than say 10 active folks, or 3 very aggressive altoholics. Also the use of mule accounts for a large base, is not practical either, frankly I am not giving my id and password to anyone so they can get to my mule for salvage, using email, the limit is 20 and I have better use for it than storage of salvage; lol, I normally use it to store awakens, breakfrees and lucks...
For myself a reason I require more than 3 salvage of any kind is that often after a respec, I have dozens of recipes I am going to craft, often many are sets of 5, so at least I need 5 of each kind of salvage alone, don't mind that many recipes do have common salvage as well. Sure I can go back and forth between my base and WW, but why?
In a way, the upping the storage from 30 to a 100 is closer to a quality of life improvement than a hoarde thing. By going to a 100, we will be able to store 10 of each kind of salvage. Now one could debate is 10 of each kind of salvage hoarding?
Hugs
Stormy
Yeah the whole hoarding thing is a valid concern the devs have. more players do it then you might imagine. Some have good reasons while others just do it without realizing it.
For example. I'm currently hoarding all the salvage I need to craft Winter's Gift recipes. I bought the salvage when it was cheap during the year before the price skyrockets during and after the next Winter Event.
I'm planning on farming the hell out of Candy Canes so I can spend them to buy all the WG recipes I can get my hands on and then craft and store them for sale on the market next year when the supply of them dries up and prices soar.
I made 500 million on the ones I made last year.
I'm in favor of increasing the storage amount 110% -
Quote:And how will you deal with the outrage from the PvE population when you take away their access to Shivans, Nukes, Badges, and Purple IO recipes? We don't need a booster pack, we need a whole 'nother server. I think we need is a PVP-specific server with different PVP rules that hardcore PVPers will enjoy and wouldn't affect the PVE community at all.
To keep it 100% fair, allow no server transfers nor email trades between this and the "normal" servers.
The only reason they are there and as powerful as they are is because of the difficulty the PvP enviroment adds to getting them. Competeing against a human opponent brings the difficulty to a whole new level that the AI can't compare to.
Without that difficulty those items will most likely be severely nerfed or removed completely. -

I want to see Techbot write the dialogue for Rikti Pr0n.

I have no objection to a PVP booster but it would require redesigning PvP in it's entirety. Our game doesn't have loot that can be easily swapped out when we switch from PVP to PVE. I also think it's a bad idea to further alienate the PVP population by making them pay extra so they can be on the same footing as other PVP players. Doing these things will most likely be the final nail in the PVP coffin.

Quote:No. I don't label the players you describe as AE babies. However when I run into a level 41 Peacebringer who asks me what enhancements are, asks where Perigrine Island is, or says, "We can leave Atlas Park!? How?" then he's an AE baby.I get seriously tired of people blaming the failure of idiots to understand a perfectly simple game on being an AE Baby. There has never been a lack of farming or power leveling options in this game. But there have always been dumb-***** who even when playing a character fail to understand the basic concepts of teamwork and their ATs role on a team. That has nothing to do with PLing.
I've also been on teams where everyone but the AE baby was waiting outside the mission entrance in Talos, PI, RWZ all the while the AE baby who was still in Atlas Park, was insisting he is also at the entrance but it won't let him enter. -
Quote:No that isn't how they do it. They still release story arcs with their regular issues, and once they release the weekies they are permanent additions to the game. The only thing they remove is the special reward for doing the complete story arc before the next one is released. Like how we only get Candy Canes during the winter event, or Costume Salvage during Halloween. However, to achieve this I would imagine they would remove the arcs from the issues and release them this way. Sure, you get a new mission every saturday, but on the days in between you get none. And you run all your alts through that to get a bonus. Now, you can run the missions on any of your alts at any time and get the same bonus as always.
I think I prefer the way we have it now.
How it works is you get a message from a special contact that lets you know there is a special mission he needs your help with. Just like we get here about the Baby New Year, and the DJ Zero's Valentines Day Event. The difference here is that you can't do those mission all year long. -

Quote:In my opinion it takes away from the story and disrupts immersion. It's like reading the end of a mystery first and learning who done it before reading the entire book. The book may stll be well written but the suspense is gone.I still think that Praetorian morality missions should be handled more like the other Morality missions we have, which is to say you should be allowed to pick your side BEFORE you start the mission, as part of a dialogue tree or a tip alignment selector.
The reason I say this is because of how these missions are presented. Aside from the tutorial, Praetorian alignment missions are not, in fact, missions in the traditional sense. There isn't a whole mission you have to fight through to make a decision at the end. You enter the mission, walk through some empty hallways and are presented with a choice with slight narration.
Why can this not be done in the contact window beforehand? It's not like the mission shows you anything unusual. Blowing up the Enriche plant just puts you in a stock Resistance room with bombs stacked around, and you're asked what to do. Why could I not have made that choice beforehand? Say in the following manner:
---
You were more or less ordered to destroy Praetoria's Enriche plant in an effort to free people from the drug's mind control effect. The Dark Watcher was very specific that neither Vanguard nor Longbow have the resources to fight a public relations war. Given their performance so far, you wouldn't want them to try, anyway. However, the Enriche plant is built into the Praetora City main water treatment centre and only source of drinkable, non-polluting water. Yes, the citizens would be free from control, but they would have no drinkable water for months.
On the one hand, the Enriche plant HAS to be destroyed in order for this war to be won. Open rebellion is the only way to topple Cole's regime, and this will never happen as long as people's minds are clouded and their will suppressed. So what if they have to subsist on toxic water for a while? We all have to make sacrifices, and Vanguard will set up a fresh water system for them within a few months, anyway. This war cannot be won by shying away from the dangerous decisions.
On the other hand, the war effort is going well enough at present. The Resistance are winning over people's hearts even despite Enriche's control. Perhaps this is going too far. There is no question that Cole's regime must go down, but you must also ensure that there is a Praetoria left to save at the end of the day. Further sacrifices, especially on this scale, aren't necessary right now. The people's will can wait until their survival is first ensured.
Resistance: Destroy the Enriche plant.
Loyalists: Betray Calvin Scott and stop him from destroying the Enriche plant.
---
Other than Calvin's little soliloquy, what difference does it make whether this is written to you in caption boxes with emblems on them, or whether it's given to you in the pre-mission briefing? What do we stand to benefit from having these choices done in the actual instances?
If someone prefers draining all the color and life out of the game they can go hang out in the AE and run farms where they know exactly what will happen before they start the mission. -

Quote:To be specific I was referring to the number of times I've heard someone suggest making a duplicate farm-free Atlas Park.Yeah, I'd say it does.
It's not the first time I've heard the complaint though, so there are a few more people with the same issue.
I agree. Especially since we already have a 'farm free' starter zone called Galaxy City. The OP's complaint seems to be nothing more than a variation of the whining we get when Freedom is greyed out during a special event.Quote:But the fact remains that the devs aren't going to program a separate AP on one or two servers just to appease those people
If the OP insists on starting in the most popular starting zone then he's just going to have to deal with the lag and farm chatter. Those other players have just as much right to be there as he does. -
I've been thinking about something another MMO I've been playing has just started doing.
In addition to issues like we get here they have just started releasing storyarcs spaced out over a few weeks. What happens is they release the first mission on a Saturday and then each following week they release the next installment in the story arc. At the end of the story arc (and before the release of the next story arc) they give a special reward to everyone that completes the story arc in that time frame. The reward is the same for everyone.
This has generated a lot of interest from the playerbase and their servers are hopping each Saturday with people eager to do the next installment, and they spend the week between and the time before the next story arc running their alts thru the missions to get the reward.
I think something like that here could do a lot to keep people interested between the release of new issues. -
-
I never saw the original source but back on the old forums when making comments about how much inf was in the system I was corrected that it wasn't billions but trillions by a couple of people.
-
I'm talking about the amounts it could hold during I9 beta testing. When I9 beta started one of the IO storage limits was set at 150. A week or two later it was lowered to what we currently have and remained at that amount after the issue went live. When it got lowered was the first time I saw a redname explain their position on hoarding.
