Why would he want to fight your brute over this thread?

Here ya go. It's run by Virtue players but you can listen to it on any server. -
Quote:This made me smile because of the contradiction of the statements.I also have trouble understanding people not respeccing to inherent Fitness and min-maxing their builds.
All my builds are not optimized but that's because I tend to take some powers to fit a concept.
You mentioned concepts so I ask you to consider this. Maybe inherent fitness doesn't fit into the concepts those players have for their characters.
Maybe they only wanted 1, 2, or 3 of the fitness powers.
Maybe they're happy with the current build and they look at the 4 fitness powers that were added as the extra one slotted powers that will round out their build and give them an extra oomph. -

Quote:Sorry Iron if I was trying to exploit something I wouldn't be asking how this works in a public forum. I would have taken my questions to PM's.bzzt! Exploit attempt!
Sorry, it doesn't work that way. The prestige bonus goes to the FIRST SG they join after leaving Praetoria.
I also wouldn't have been basing my numbers on just 15 characters if I was considering taking advantage of an exploit. I would have used the total number of slots I can cobble together between both of my accounts on my preferred server. -
So 15 Praetorians would be worth 20k each if they are the 1st 15 members for 300k total and an additional 100k each for not being able to join an SG until lvl 20 for 1.5 million k which brings us to a grand total of 1.8 million prestige.
Sweet. -
So you think CGI could make Megan Fox look attractive? Sorry but I don't think CGI has advanced far enough to do that.
Now something like this might improve Megans appearance,

but I can't imagine WW wearing it. -
Quote:If I was in charge the first thing I would have done is build a ramp up to the stargate instead of that stupid walkway with stairs that forced everyone to carry the supplies. If I was in charge of the 9th Chevron expedition, then I would put all the non-perishable supplies near the Stargate since there is no idea to know when the Expedition would start or what to expect.
The second thing I would have done is loaded all the supplies onto MALPS or rechargeable ATVs and drove them thru the damn wormhole.

Oh and another thing I would have done if I was in charge would have been to remove/vent/evacuate the atmosphere from the gate room on the Destiny once I learned the Lucian Alliance was dialing so they could invade.
They come thru the wormhole, suck vaccuum, invasions over. Toss the bodies out an airlock.
What Telford died? Oops. -
Did Power start a new account and backslide?
-
Wow. That puts a different perspective on things for me and my solo SG's. I may be recreating some lower level characters as Praets instead of sideswitching them. Get a nice group together and use them as SG fillers for each new base I start.
Thanks for the information. -
Quote:I got that from the very last part of your post. It was the 260, 460, 560 that had/has me baffled. Tho looking at what I posted about my new system I'm guessing that those numbers might refer to the processor?Talking about the flip-side of decent performance.
System longevity.
Uhm if it helps I'll try to put my grasp of computer hardware into perspective. When I had to buy a new motherboard for my old system all I can tell you is that the original one was red and the new one was orange.
Oh and I know what GB are, and I know that TB are a lot more than GB but how much more I have no idea.
But other than that my mind is essentially blank as a fart as far as computer tech goes.
Hee hee I'm pathetic.

Quote:They offered the free server transfers prior to the release of Going Rogue so everyone could have the chance of making room on their preferred servers and move things around instead of deleting them.I'm not asking to be tied to a server, I'm asking to be set free amongst my global brethren with my big frilly frock and my moving hair, is that too much for a girl to ask? Or bloke if that'll get the job done!
...but since you've brought up an important point... If server transfers were free for 4 months, why not indefinitely? Who am I paying for my transfer? A technician? NCsoft? Anybody?
Cripes, I'm not trying to be political but now I'm actually interested.
The first round of free transfers was done during the 2009-2010 Winter Event when GR was first scheduled to be released sometime in the first quarter of 2010 Jan-Mar. When that didn't happen they had an additional week of free transfers the first week Going Rogue launched in August 2010. -
The shaky cam didn't bother me too much in this flick, I've seen some footage from Iraq where some soldiers have cams filming and it actually made the movie marines a little more believable for me. Unlike how shaky cam irritates the hell out of me in other shows.

Quote:A) That kind of goes back to the discussion in last weeks episode thread. From my own military experience I don't believe they would ever leave weapons and ammo out in a pile of boxes where anyone can get at it. In my opinion it would be kept in an armory or weapons locker and only be issued when they were ready to attempt dialing the gate and go thru.Oh you have a good point, I'm simply willing to suspend disbelief on it because A) they could have had ammo in that snafu of using the gate in the first place, all kinds of boxes got tossed through and I can believe the military types would have thought to grab some cases. Mind you they wouldn't have a lot of ammo, but they would have extra. And B) they haven't actually shot that much ammo yet. I would think they are probably through about half of their ammo though.
If they did it that way then all the boxes in the gateroom were scientific equipment, food and medical supplies, and other essential items like toilet paper.
B) That's where I get a little confused. There were a couple of episodes where they were firing like crazy, but then one of those episodes had that damned time travel crap, so it screwed up my estimates on how much ammo they using.
Yeah, that's another thing that irritates me. If the writers had let them discover a weapons locker on the Destiny it would have resolved the whole ammo thing without any fuss.Quote:Hmm, what did the ancients use for weapons? I'm sure they had some. Ie Personal hand carried weapons. I don't think we have ever actually seen what they used. Those should be somewhere on the ship, probably an energy weapon like the zap, which is probably based on an ancient weapon. -
Quote:I'm gonna check that link out because I've never seen Palicki in anything. Hopefully that might give me some confidence in her, cuz this picture isn't doing WW justice. There's something not-quite-right about that photo. Whether it's just the lighting or some Photoshop retouches, the end result doesn't really look like her. Palicki looks totally different when she's moving than she does in that picture.
Watch this interview -- hardly looks like the same person.
She's also a decent actress, too. Her turn on Criminal Minds as a psychopathic spree killer.
Believe me I would love to see more pics or even a trailer of the new WW because this one photo isn't instilling confidence. More examples could easily show this to be a bad shot.Quote:For what it's worth I'm not 100% totally happy with what I see from this ONE PROMOTIONAL POSED photo either. But I just happen to think people here are looking at this one pic in isolation and judging/assuming far too much from it. When considering Hudson Leick we have a lot more material to judge her on. According to imdb.com she was in 12 episodes of Xena. A full 12 episodes of appearances is quite a bit more to go on than one still photo don't you think? -
Quote:Bill could you provide some clarification about those Praetorians for me? Is that 100k for each Praetorian and is it for the first 15 members? Is your SG just a solo SG for right now? How much prestige do you have? What do you have in it for right now? (Remember, you get a 20,000 Prestige bonus for each of the first 15 members, and IIRC a 100,000 Prestige bonus when a Praetorian joins (to make up for the fact they can't be in an SG from 1-20.)

Maybe the water is what fuels their technology. Why bring fuel with them when they can use our own oceans to fuel their equipment.
-
Quote:Uh, yeah, because it would be so terribly hard to wrap a comet in plastic and warm it up with some mirrors a few dozen kilometers in diameter and then siphon the resulting water balloon into holding tanks. The largest energy requirement is manufacturing a big plastic bag and some mirrors that are thinner than paper. Especially compared to lifting gigatons of water out of a gravity well as deep as Earth's while engaging in a massive battle with the inhabitants. Every other planet in our solar system with large quantities of water that's not a gas giant has a much shallower gravity well.
They could go to Europa or Ganymede which have copious amounts of water and much shallower gravity wells. In fact most moons in the outer solar system are largely composed of water with much lower energy requirements to move it. Earth's surface may be 70% covered in water, but in terms of total mass it's mostly just a thin, scummy film of water on the surface with a bit more soaked into the upper rock layers.
The "aliens want our water" theory is just stupid. i'd rather go with the premise that scientists in the movie that came up with that theory were just being dumb and the aliens had some other reason for attacking. Some philosophical/political/religious motivation for the invasion makes the bizarre choices made by the aliens more plausible.
You are forgetting one important thing our water has that nowhere else in the universe has.
Poop.
Fish poop in our oceans. Animal and human poop eventually gets washed down into the ocean.
The aliens are after our poop. -

Times like this I find myself wishing we shared a universal alphabet so I could at least figure out how to pronounce what was being written. I can't make heads or tails of that, what is that alphabet? Uhm . . .not cuniform. Wait. If I recall Sam's from Eastern Europe I think. So they use some form of dwarvish that starts with a C . . . Cyrillic?
Well whatever it's called looking at it makes me want to hire a cryptographer. <sigh>
Edit: Okay what the heck just happened? I quoted Sam and the quote looks different than his post. -
Actually TD's ribbing me because one of the things that bugs me about the show is that I believe they should have run out of ammo by now because they have no way of resupplying what they brought thru the gate.

Even if they confiscated the weapons brought by the Lucien Alliance, Their ammo can't be fired out of Earth weapons, and they aren't using the LA guns. -
Quote:From what I understand Rush perfected the technology found in spaghetti westerns where the cowboys never have to reload their 6-shooters.Oh and for Forbin Project, what was with them salvaging all the guns from armory? Salvaging ammo would be much more critical and essential.

All kidding aside I'm going to say that the writers want us to assume the ammo was taken since they showed us they were grabbing the guns.
Or maybe we'll see Greer running around in a firefight with his M-16 yelling "BANG! Lay down dammit your dead!"

To the best of my knowledge the only time the devs have gone back and retroactively added vet rewards was when they added the annual free character slots. So unless it's something that could be added to the annual rewards I don't see this happening.

I'm very proud of the way NCSoft has stepped up to contribute to this situation.
