Quote:I used 50's in my example because they are the most obvious way to abuse the suggested changes to level pacts. Another way would be Praetorians. So exempt level 50s?
I think other than that it's a great idea, mainly because I have a *lot* of duos, either created prior to pacts, or whose pacts broke while I was away from the game that I'd like to repact. And no, rerolling a level 39 emp/psi defender, level 22 ice/storm corruptor, level 30-ish crab, or level 28 fire/fire scrapper or blaster are not options.
See Praetorians get 100k prestige the first time they join an SG so someone with a main account could make a bunch of praetorians on alternate accounts then using level pacts, powerlevel them up to 20 and then invite them into an SG for the huge prestige boost they'll get. That prestige doesn't go away when the characters quit the SG so they can be deleted after joining and the process repeated.
But I'm just pointing out what I think are the most obvious problems with the idea. If they can be resolved then I have no other objections to making the changes. -
Please remember Klaw is in Australia and is standing upside down in relation to the rest of the world. That means his blood is always rushing to his head and he's looking at things from an inverted perspective. It's easy to be confused under those conditions.
Give the poor guy a break.

Quote:We have plenty of powergamers who have multiple accounts that wouldn't be bothered by having the xp divided between 3-4 of their alternate accounts as long as they can get an instant 50 without having to do any of the 1-50 content.Forbin beat me to it, but that's the exact quote.
So unfortunately, this would be the ultimate power-leveling tool, since the lower level character would be gaining all the xp even when not online, with no hindrance to the lvl 50 character since they can't gain any xp anyway. If they made it so 2 level 50s could pact together, and maybe share incarnate xp at some cost (reduced inf gains or something), that could be something worth looking into. -
Quote:It doesn't matter if the higher level character is exemped or not. A level 50 doesn't need any more exp so the abuse would still be that one character (the 50) will be doing all the work earning the xp while the others simply log in and level up.I guess you don't know how it works when one pactmate is lower than the other. The higher level guy gets exemped to the lower level guy permanently until the lower level one catches up.
http://wiki.cohtitan.com/wiki/Level_Pacts
And even if the higher level player in a level pact is exemped down to the lower level member. The higher level character is still free to join higher level teams/TF's, Leagues and be auto exemped back up via super sidekicking. -
Quote:/unsignedSo right now you can only level pact two characters together as long as both are under level five. Even when this system was introduced they told us they were looking at removing that limitation down the line. So what's the hold up? After the introduction of Super-sidekicking I can't think of any exploits letting us pact at any level would allow, and even before that it seemed fairly benign. So yeah, pact at any level please!
But why stop there? Let's remove more limitations! Let us pact up to, I dunno, 50 characters! Just a random number I picked because that's the most players that can simultaneously experience content together (Hamidon raids). There's nothing wrong with super-teams, why not let them make it easier to stay together?
Oh and I don't know if it does this already and neither does this wiki, but they should allow sharing of Physical and Psychic XP, too.
Sorry this would be far to easy to abuse horribly. Level 50's that have no more use for experience would be used to insta level dozens of characters up to level 50 via level pacts. -
Quote:I'm sorry that you don't like how the feature works. A lot of people don't, but it is in fact functioning as the devs intended and the devs have in fact told us that letting us pull 10 enhancements off of a build during a respec was generous on their part. While I thank you both for responding quickly and with commentary, I do not think it is quite as simple as you put it.
And don't worry I don't take anything you said as a personal attack. Ideas similar to yours have been brought up many times over the past seven years and each time we manage to get a dev response we are told the same thing, and that is, (sorry to repeat this) that they were being generous when they let us pull 10 enh off a build and if we want to pull more than 10 we have to use multiple respecs.
If in the future any change is made to the respec feature I think the best we can hope for is an easier way to select powers and assign slots so it's more user friendly. -
Quote:My honest unedited opinion about people who put heal power on auto and/or have only one attack is likely fodder for mods. You can play that way if you want to, but a player who does so is nothing but a glorified leech.
/This.
Also whenever I encounter individuals that Rock the Aura and/or only have one attack I one star them with notes because if they are going to leech off of others with one AT they'll be looking to do it with the other AT's.
As Amy said they can play the way they want to, but I'm not obligated to put up with them or deal with any drama their playstyle causes on teams. -
Since Issue 13 went live on Tuesday, December 2, 2008 we have had the ability to have multiple builds on every character. So we have no excuse for "skipping" any powers from our Defenders secondary sets and being useful members of a team. Excuses about buffing being too time consuming are just that, excuses.
-
/unsigned
The limit of pulling 10 enhancements off of a build has never had anything to do with storage space. Enhancements are supposed to be permanent once slotted, and when the devs added the respec feature in Issue 2 they flat out told us that they were being extremely generous when they decided to let us pull 10 enhancements off of a respecced build.
That was back when earning influence was a PITA and respeccing a build could literally leave a character broke and struggling with empty slots if the player didn't have the foresight to have a couple of million set aside in advance. Now that we have the ability to make hundreds of millions hand over fist it's even more unlikely the devs will change their minds. -

PvP Changes
- PvP Invention Sets have been added. These sets have a chance to drop only by defeating other players, either in PvP zones or in the arena. They have two different bonuses, a PvE bonus and a PvP bonus. In PvE zones, only the PvE bonus will affect the player. In PvP zones or the Arena, both bonuses will be in effect.

There's no harm in asking them, but one question first. Are you sure the correct spelling isn't being used by another group?
Anyway whatever happens I hope it works out for you. -
Game balance. Each AT/powerset was designed to have weaknesses to balance their strengths.

Quote:They made this (ala the original "Space Battleship Yamato") into a live action feature film over in Japan. It came out last December.
I have the entire series on DVD and watch it every so often. One of the best written anime series ever!
Now if only someone would come along and create a Starblazers MMO...
I must have this movie!!!

IMO if there is any fault to be had it belongs to SyFy. I saw no advertisements for the show being made. The only reason I caught it was because I had clicked ahead a couple of hours on my cable providers channel guide. It was only pure luck I found out it was being aired at all.
So you couldn't have known to check here for a heads up. -
I think it would be nice if there was an expansion to the ancillary power pools that allowed us to choose one or two teir 1 powers to help round out character concepts. They wouldn't have to be powerful, just customizable and they could unlock at level 6 like the other power pools. Furthermore the powers in question could be unslottable like temp powers are.
In doing it this way players would have to think about whether or not it's worth sacrificing being able to choose more useful powers later on while still not gimping the existing build completely. -
Quote:Sorry. Did the best I could to let people know as soon as I fund out.You know, I wish I had seen this topic before I went to bed, not after I got up in the morning...
Quote:Got up this morning and watched the eps off of the DVR.
At this point and time, it's a guilty pleasure more than anything else. It'll be worth watching while having breakfast Fri. mornings anyways.
Now a question for those who are really into the show and it's history. When originally aired, wasn't the Yamato referred by the name Argo from the start or was the name change done after? I just don't feel like Wiki hunting right now for that answer.
Thank you for the time...
In the English Star Blazers dub, the ship is noted as being the historical Yamato, but is then renamed the Argo (after the ship of Jason and the Argonauts). -
Quote:This. At the very least, if the powers are to be truly unavailable inside Pocket D, the power icons should be greyed out so you can't even click them. When you forgot that the teleport doesn't work, you waste an activation, which either leaves you waiting for the cooldown, or losing a charge in the case of the Market teleports.

Quote:While you should feel free to create characters on whichever server you like you should consider that if you choose to stay on a single server and it goes down for whatever unexpected reason you won't be able to access your characters. So, I'm poking around servers and trying to feel out that community. I was curious what the community had to say on this matter. Rather than spread my new "starter" toons around servers, I was going to try and dump them all on one.
I'm not looking for information on numbers so much as I am the general "feeling" of the community. I know Freedom and Virtue have the highest numbers and I was inclined to go with one of them, but I keep seeing triple red dots wen I log on and it worries me a little. This is as far as I've gotten:
Freedom: The BIGGEST server
Virtue: Unofficial RP server
I think someone also mentioned that Pinnacle was the "Drunk" server and I wanted some more information on what this meant as well, because that just sounds awesome. Right now, I'm inclined to dump some toons on Virtue because, while I don't RP, I do like my characters to "make sense" within the CoX universe and Virtue seems to be the place where I would find characters with a higher degree of seriousness, making the game a tad more immersive.
So you might want to keep a couple characters on other servers so you can still play during unexpected server crashes. -
Thanks for adding anything I missed.

What has me shocked isn't that they moved their anime block. The lady in charge of SyFy has gone on record saying she doen't like sci-fi at all and has been doing things to minimize the amount of sci-fi the channel airs.

Quote:The 4 EU servers are being added to the NA server list and EU players will be able to log onto the NA servers and the NA players will be able to log onto the EU servers. Everyone will have 15 servers to play on.I don't understand this. We've had all of this talk about if EU_accountX vs Na_accountx names are the same then x. How technically will this work then?
Initially, I thought it was like this:
-EU servers come/move under the NA domain...this is how we will use only 1 client, right? The EU client goes away.
-EU server accounts can move to other servers, right? or will they just be able to create new accounts/characters on different servers?
- The NA client will add global payment options(USD, UK GBP and EU EUROS)?
I just find it hard to believe that NCSOFT is going to do all new software engineering to make this all work. I base this comment on the game. They reuse where ever they can. To do a true integration this will be a lot of work. I look forward to hearing about the techinical details.
EU players that have global names that are being used already by players on the NA server list will get a rename token or a slight change to their global names.
EU accounts are NOT being merged with NA accounts, nor are they creating new accounts.
This all has been explained several times in other threads. The Search tool is your friend.

WTF! I was channel surfing a few minutes ago looking for something to watch later tonight and SyFy claims they'll be airing Star Blazers at 2-3 am EST!
Has the world gone crazy?
Everything is now topsy turvy!
The channel that has been steadily distancing themselves from Sci-Fi by bringing us gems like Professional Wrasslin has suddenly decided to air not only a classic scf-fi show but classic anime.
Rabble! Rabble! Rabble! -
Yeah. In fact we know from people on the show who were talking to the fans via Twitter that many of them only found out about the cancellation when SyFy publicly made the announcement. It was a surprise cancellation.
