I'll see your graphical bugs and raise you a "VIP status doesn't work on the Defiant server." That's no VIP content accessible at all from VIP Accounts when playing on Defiant, fine on Union!
Something borged the server hamster? -

I have to agree with Sugar here, having just logged off from Virtue for the maintenance.
Help channel is being used as a general chat channel, the discussions this morning were not about forming groups or anything other than random noise. Now that's actually healthy, the community feels vibrant and alive with all these new players so it's something to be encouraged.
However - legitimate questions easily fall underneath all of the noise or get flooded off the channel before anyone sees them. Responding to questions also suffers the same issues, indeed you have to add **PLAYER NAME** to try and get their attention, which works but is not ideal.
I would dearly love to see some form of server wide channel implemented which is open to everyone, regardless of account type. A unified channel people can advertise groups on or just chat about whatever crosses their mind. This then leaves help clear for it's original purpose and gives others the option of disabling this new unified channel if they don't want to read it, but still allowing them to provide help.
I understand the issues over potential RMT spam, but if anything it's worth a trial run and cannot be that difficult to implement. -
Quote:This is very probably the best advice.I did this too, but I wouldn't be telling people to abandon Union and head for Virtue, especially nowadays when you can play on both anyway, what's the point of burning bridges? Create a few alts on each and decide when logging in where and who you want to play.
Now the game has gone free to play you'll notice an upsurge in players on most servers, I mean I just popped out of a mission into Talos Island 2 on Virtue at effectively breakfast time on the east coast. Keep the home server, mine will always be Defiant, but don't be afraid to alt on another if it's busy when you usually play.
The only server I'd recommend avoiding would be Exalted, although that'll no doubt be subjective -
It's worth noting that if you do accidentally purchase the same item twice, there are no refunds.
So click carefully. -
I'd very likely conceal my powers to avoid unwanted attention, but I don't think I could stop myself from helping those in need.
This would of course make watching 24 hour rolling news impossible, the amount of 'strife' in the world would constantly drag me out to assist.
Unless I had a useless super power like the ability to command domestic animals, in which case you'd totally be finding a lot of dogs playing poker in my local area. -

EU servers burped this morning, but it wasn't for 1.5 hours looking back. You can put that down to dodgy recollection and pneumonia (which at least gives plenty of play time!)

Quote:I don't really think there's any call for comments like this, especially in a global game. One of the things you need to realise is that people who aren't native English speakers commonly make certain errors in word choice, one of which is "loose/lose" and another is "change/chance". This is something you see all the time in Europe and just live with, a quirk of learning the English language.Grammar police! It's LOSING not Loosing! Big difference! So what if my scews are LOOSE because I'm LOSING sleep due to a teething baby!
Needs more !!!!
Now I don't know if that applies to the OP but it's something you just have to accept as a possibility and not go all 'grammar police' over.
Back on topic I don't think the 6 hours downtime for a publish is a problem, but the unexpected downtime prior was a little irksome. -
About half way through the zone at the moment and enjoying the storyline. Not found anything particularly difficult (elec/regen brute with difficulty upped) but can definitely see how it'll be hard for certain AT/set combo's.
As someone who hasn't played through the Praetorian storyline I find some of the assumptions a little confusing, would have been nice for alternate dialog for primal characters to set the backstory. However I can understand why they never did that.
A few too many 'fedex' style missions but on the whole an entertaining zone, looking forward to the second half
Didn't care much for Kathie Douglas, found her to be very annoying and generally not someone I'd want to work for as a hero. -
Quote:I think I developed that response after playing countless point and click style adventures. "There's a clue here? Seriously??" *clicks everything on screen*I dunno about others, but after having played 15 MMORPGs I find my standard intuition when I'm stood right in front of something and it doesn't do what I expected is to just start clicking everything in a mile radius.
It's near foolproof for these kind of simple issues and I belief plenty people do it. -
Quote:While I agree, there's actually a minor zone transition in the new tutorial where you just walk through the boundary (right after the trainer to get to level 2) to get to the 'giant shivan' area. She should have paid attention to the bit in the new Tutorial mission where door-clicking was explained.

I think making the click box a little bigger may help these kinds of issues, more chance a wildly waving mouse pointer will turn into an interactive hand then. -
Upstanding community in action in the post above I see.

Quote:It's about perception though, if you lose the faith of your customers you lose your income. As I said I don't care about being reimbursed and I doubt many people do, they just don't appreciate losing a significant percentage of playtime over a short period due to ongoing issues.Thats horse hockey.
Paying or not, downtime to fix things or because things CAN AND WILL go wrong does not mean for the playerbase to ***** and moan about being reimbursed. Anyone who asks for such is an entitled whiner.
In a way this would have been better if they'd taken the servers down for 24 to 48 hours straight to finish *all* the hardware upgrades (yesterday and today) before bringing it back up. -
They were fun missions but a bit short really, I don't think I'd ever recommend non-VIPs pay for them as 3 quick missions for 400PP is a bit much.
Reserving judgement on the story until I've seen the arc but after this first part I do want to play the next, which bodes well.
Also agree that an option to disable the "Enter Game" at the mission splash screen would be awesome. -
Would be an argument if it wasn't a service people pay for, as it's not gone free to play just yet I think it's valid for customers to raise a complaint if they have excessive service outage.
-
The game has been down more than it's been up recently during *normal* playtime and it has negatively impacted my ability to use the service. I realise that's subjective, but ultimately it's all each of us can go on from a personal point of view.
I'm not really bothered about monetary refunds, I doubt many people are, but I think some form of gesture would be prudent. Ultimately I understand why the downtime is required and how important it is for the game to be running stable for freemium players, but it's coming at a cost to paying customers (exact cost dependant on geographic location with EU/Oceanic players hit hardest).
Something like a few bonus Paragon Points or a limited double xp event (which is cost neutral for Paragon), tailored more as a 'thank you for putting up with all the prep for freemium players' than anything else. That side-steps setting a precedent for future downtime.
Don't get me wrong, I enjoy the game and am happy to subscribe. I just feel a little too much like I'm paying to beta test for freemium people - again my own opinion but that's all I've got to go on. -
Moving the servers explains the long downtime, but not sure why that's kept to Facebook and not published somewhere on this site. Despite popular belief not everyone currently on the planet uses Facebook
Once CoH:Freedom comes out of Open Beta I'm sure things will be much more stable, although I do wonder why 'VIPs' are paying to test things.
Still at least that won't be necessary in the not too distant future. -
Quote:Or you aren't in the US, in which case tough luck.Besides, it's during a work day, so go do work. Unless you don't work, in which case I'm sure there are other ways to remain occupied...
However, if this round of maintenance actually fixes things then it's not such a problem as the upgrades are clearly needed.
I think a lot of people in the EU, myself included, are a bit miffed at losing out on so much play time as the maintenance is never scheduled in an EU friendly way. I know we just have to suck it up, but it still...sucks -
Clearly there's been an error in magnitude, surely you mean it's 60 points?
600 is patently nuts as that's nearly the same price as an entire powerset. VIPs get 400/550 points per month as part of their subscription, you couldn't even purchase this one ability with that and we're subscribers?
I don't see free to play people and/or premiums sticking around long with pricing decisions like this. It makes the game feel like City of Heroes:Cash Cow - I know that's not what you intend, but that's how the market seems. -
The best thing about coming back now is that it feels pretty much like a whole new game.
I just had a "you last visited on 22 June 2006" message when I logged into the forums and I dare say there's plenty to catch up on.
CoH:Freedom seems to be bringing a fair few people back to the spandex, which can only be a good thing! -
Presuming there's no raid planned at that time in WoW, I'll be there for old times sake.
Blasters cossie is still all red? -
I've recently started a Spines/Invul scrapper and am planning on taking Resist Elements/Energies quite late in the build (after invincibilty.)
I take it that's a doable strategy? I'm currently restricted to 4 attacks (barb swipe, lunge, spine burst and brawl) until 22 because of travel power and fitness requirements. Not that it's holding me back from having fun with the character -
Put Lethal Lana down for the 8th spot, I'll ask her later but I'm sure she won't mind helping
She's a level 50 scrapper.
