Yes... Hence, is the Zig good enough?, seeing as the buggers walk out of the place...
-
The problem with THAT is, when you get to the AV missions, loads of them tell you the bugger escaped from the Zig shortly after incarceration.
For me, I say it's not a lot of good for when we want an RP villain out of the way for good, as we all know that if they go to the Zig, they'd be out before the day was up... -
[ QUOTE ]
Well that is a personal opinion.
[/ QUOTE ]
Of course it's a personal opinion. It was given by me so could only BE my own opinion...
PvP could be good if it wasn't for one major problem, other people. It take one dipstick in a crowd of 100 nice people to ruin the experience for a new PvPver. Problem is, this is the internet talking about... There is a far higher ratio of idiots to nice people than the 1:100 I gave...
And yes, the PvP side may be avoidable, but all too often, the smacktalk/trashtalk isn't. It spreads out of those zones and causes people to have to shut off various channels. Been months now since I bothered with Arena chat, and I rarely have Broadcast on. -
I wish you all the luck, but I'd also like to point out that it's been tried a few times. The main problem is a useable location that can be easily and safely reached by a level 1 character. Unfortunately, CoV lacks a place like the Galaxy Girl statue for people to meet up.
There also was the problem of being forced to through the tutorial, but fortunately, that's no longer an issue as of I7. -
I'm not the slightest bit surprised PvP zones are like this. It's no different to the morons in Counter Strike. Doesn't matter where you go, if there's PvP, then you'll get 1 or 2 total morons out of a hundred good players who'll stop at nothing to ruin other peoples fun.
Personally, I don't PvP. I've tried it about 10 times, and had 8 bad experiences. I dislike the attitude prevalent in a few players in those zones, and I dislike the smacktalk. When I've deathmatched in things like Quake etc, smacktalk is almost non-existant! Maybe it's because I play with people I know...
Anyway, the worst part of it all is being TP'd into PvE mobs with low health, just to give you debt (This happened to me only a few days ago so don't say it doesn't happen). Fair fights are fine, even interrupting an existing fight is within the rules (though REALLY rude IMO), but doing it in a way that causes debt is just low.
I've said it before and I say it again, PvP has made this game less fun. -
IC Interlude 14/06/06 22:00 hours
Dan groaned as the voice of his mother called from downstairs. Time for bed now Dan! Turn that PC off, its a school day tomorrow!
Yeah mom, Im just finishing a download, 2 minutes, please?
A pause, Alright, 2 minutes, then I was that thing off and you in your bed, its 10 Oclock!
Dan got up from his chair and shut his bedroom door, muttering. Nag, nag, nag.. It IS my 14th birthday yknow
Returning to his PC in the dimly lit room, he checked the progress of the buffering; great, almost at 100%!
Tapping impatiently on his desk, his other hand worked the mouse, quickly scanning the forums on the underground hero site he was browsing, hoping for some more parts to the video. Odd that there were no comments attached to this video file, but hed soon get to see the goodies himself!
Finally, the buffering finished and the file started to play, glancing at the title bar, MissEllieSpyCamXXX001.avi, Dan grinned.
As the video played back, Dans grin faded and his eyes widened with horror. Whilst the file ran its course, Dan sat frozen, unable to tear his eyes away from the footage. Eventually, after about 20 seconds, the playback ended and Dan stared at the now black screen, his eyes wide in shock, Jeeeeez!!!
As he sat, almost frozen, his mothers voice once again called from downstairs, Dan, times up, shut that computer off, now!
Looking up from his reverie, Dan quickly shut the PC off and scrambled into his pyjamas. Sorry mom, its off now! Night! Jumping quickly into his bed, Dan glanced back at his PC, Damn, thats the last time I go to THAT site!
(( For people involved in the plot that would be likely to access the various underground hero websites and usenet links, please PM me and Ill relay whats in the footage. ))

((There is very little public information about TD, and almost nothing in the hero corps database other than an "Extremely Dangerous" flag. However, Miss Ellie knows about her, as does Grav Mistress, Tigergirl, Mileena Lim, Inago and a few others...
Body count wise, I think it's at around the 24 mark, 20 of them being extremely unpleasant! None were PC's, although she did almost tear TimeKeepers head off!)) -
IC 14/06/06 03:00am
Ellie lay in bed, listening to the sound of Jess's breathing, as she went over that evenings meeting in her head. How could Sebastian even consider trying to take Requiem alive? After what that psycho had done?
Moving quietly, she slipped from under the covers and went into the lounge, closing the bedroom door softly so as not to disturb Jess. Then, moving to the PC, she clicked it on and opened the desk draw; reaching in to pull out a small USB memory stick.
As she waited for the PC to boot up, she sat, looking at the stick. Maybe she should have shown them all what was on here, then they'd have known Requiem deserved the extreme justice she intended to hand out; if she got the chance.
Once the PC had booted, she removed the cap from the sticks' interface and plugged it into the PC. After a few seconds, the video stored on it began to play. Ellie sat still, watching the 20 seconds of footage over and over, as she again went through everything that was said in the meeting.
Eventually, after nearly half an hour of watching that same 20 seconds over and over, she pulled the stick from the PC and shut it off, before dropping it back in the drawer. Hoping that Hannah hadn't decided to copy the data whilst she was here, Ellie clicked the lights off and went back to bed. Maybe sleep would come eventually...

There are quite a few posts in this forum listing other places/times for roleplaying.
-
Hmmm... A most interesting website, thanks for the link Birdy!
-
(( Hmmm... I do hope that anyone attempting this bounty is well prepared for ICAICC!
Tiger Dark is extremely dangerous and doesn't pull punches, slashes, or throat rippings!!
))
-
A cold smile crosses Ellie's face as she reads the SMS. Finally, a chance to get back at the SoB that hurt her.
Quickly, she tapped out a reply on her phone. "I'll be there."
-
So, you're saying that because we don't instantly drop what we're already doing and pay full attention to Inago, that we're ignoring you? Sorry mate, but you're totally wrong there.
You cannot expect people to just drop whatever it is they're doing to give Inago their full attention. Take last night as an example. IC wise, Ellie had NO idea Inago's been sleeping for a couple of days, and as far as I know, none of Ellie's friends knew this either. He popped up in the middle of some conversations, we ALL stopped to say hi to him, they returned to our chats. Add to that I have a greatly reduced typing speed at the moment due to a broken elbow. Within a couple of minutes, you sloped off with:
[ QUOTE ]
Inago grumbles and wanders off "You're out cold for a few days and no-one is pleased to see you."
[/ QUOTE ]
And I DO mean a couple of minutes, hell, I'll post everything from the logs last night from your arrival to departure:
[ QUOTE ]
06-08-2006 23:06:10 [Local]Inago: I'm back baby!
06-08-2006 23:06:46 [Local]Miss Ellie: oh. hey Kyo
06-08-2006 23:06:59 [Local]Grav Mistress: Hi Kyo, how are you?
06-08-2006 23:07:16 Inago stretches "A little achey but otherwise grrrreat!"
06-08-2006 23:07:34 Grav Mistress smiles "ok, glad to hear it"
06-08-2006 23:08:45 Inago grumbles and wanders off "You're out cold for a few days and no-one is pleased to see you."
[/ QUOTE ]
So, you allowed 2 minutes and 35 seconds between arrival and departure, and people DID talk to him... Why are you annoyed? If you'd bothered to take a minute or two, you'd have noticed that Jess was in a personal conversation with Zorielle, and Ellie was worried about Doc T, who was looking very battle weary, and was taking a cell sample from her as well...
Well I'm sorry. but if you want people to know you've been out cold for a few days, finding some way of letting them know is usually a good idea. For all Ellie knew, he was off somewhere with Pyra... -
[ QUOTE ]
now all thats left is winning the lottery, when you got that planned?
[/ QUOTE ]
Hmmm... There's an idea... Maybe I should get a ticket? -
Yay!! T'was a long struggle, with, I think, about 1700 hours clocked on her!
Oh, might I add, I believe I'm the first Issue 7 level 50? -
[ QUOTE ]
If so, I would humbly suggest that you may well end up killing cross-server PvP events. Those players who either can't be bothered to so the same, or have moral objections to exploits, might simply withdraw from any future events.
[/ QUOTE ]
That's pretty much what I said B... TBH, now the idea's on the loose, there will be players who will no longer trust that their oponents haven't tried this, and so has probably already damaged such events. Way to go...
I'm no fan of PvP, but I'd find it rather sad if this is the case. Cross-server events were meant to be FUN! -
Not that I have much of an interest in it as I don't really do PvP, but I certainly consider this 'duping' method to be nothing but cheating.
Farming Hami for HO's is NOT cheating as they're putting the effort needed to get the HO's. But copying to test, putting them into storage, and repeating ad nauseam until you're fully slotted with them IS cheating, pure and simple.
If people want to go ahead and do such a thing then fine, but they will mostly likely kill the cross-community PvP matches on the test server; people don't like to play with cheaters. -
Well... As far as the game story itself goes, I'm actually quite glad their virtually no bigotry, it IS a game afterall, and we get quite enough of that nonsense in reality.
However, in roleplaying, it's quite another story; we do try to make things more believable, so bigotry DOES happen. My main has had some quite unpleasant experiences in her backstory since becoming joined with a Kheldian, extreme enough to have been thrown out of the family home by her own father. She's experiences a fair bit in the city as well, though mostly from Vanguard idiots who see her, being a part alien, as little different to the Rikti. -
Not really no. About the closest is the Vanguard with their "Earth for humans" posters. Generally aimed at the Rikti I believe, but often taken as anti-Kheldian too.

It's equally surprising that it's PvP Friendly whilst not RP friendly as the RP'ers>PvP'ers.
[/ QUOTE ]
I don't find it surprising at all, especially given Birdy's comment further up...
[ QUOTE ]
Given any situation where there are equal cost options for implementing something where one option benefits RP, Cryptic appear to always pick the other option.

PvP, whilst not popular here, is VERY popular in Korea, a market they're attempting to crack at the moment; hence lots of expenditure on levering PvP into the game.
Now, if the Koreans were heavily into RP, it might be different, but alas, they're not. -
[ QUOTE ]
Call me thick...
[/ QUOTE ]
Have you ANY idea how temping that is?
But I won't... For the simple reason that I love your avatar! -
You have several choices. There's the nightly 9pm roleplay meets at the Galaxy Girl statue in Galaxy City. This generally tends to be for the more social side of RPing. A heroes downtime as it were where they can come to chew the fat with like minded folk. It's also a good place to meet the various RP supergroups, most of which will only let you join if there's and In Character reason.
Alternatively, you can try to find an RP supergroup that will take you, but that will be considerably harder.
As for your backstory, Saiyans are a trademarked/copyrighted concept, so I really don't recommend you copy them in any way at all. Yes I've seen many characters copied from the show, and I've also petitioned them every time I've seen them. You'll find your roleplaying experience much more rewarding with something original rather than trying to work someone elses concept into the game setting. Besides, if you're roleplaying in a mission with a team, you'll likely find them VERY unwilling to wait 2 weeks whilst you power up! -

Near death, a kheldian by the name of Mikoshi offered to save her by joining with her. Desperate, she agreed. Because of her mutation, the bond did not progress properly and the kheldian was forced to partially inhabit the body of Ellie's cat, Mogs, who she was taking to the vet at the time. The kheldian was able to survive like this and share it's powers with Ellie, healing her wounds and saving her life.
Shortly after this became known, she argued with her xenophobic father and was thrown out of the family home after being called a "filthy alien bodysnatcher". She spent the next year wandering the world alone except for mogs before she finally came to Paragon. -

"the GG crowd" would appreciate non-GGers butting in.

Yeah... About that... Doubt it's a problem anymore really...
