I think it's more of a case that the description doesn't say just how minor the tohit debuff is (and they're too lazy to check the real numbers), and some people hate speed buffs.

Um... you mean Conduit of Pain, the ally rez that grants a 90s buff followed by a 45s debuff? Just like Radiation Emission's Mutation and Poison's Elixir of Life? The only difference between those 3 powers is that Conduit of Pain puts the buff/debuff on yourself, and Elixir of Life adds a 4s hold to the debuff.
  2. CM is too short duration with too long of an animation to bother keeping it on everyone all the time. And you really don't need to give it to the melee characters, since they've got it covered. I'd recommend using it when you notice someone mezzed or when they say they are. (Also, when someone gets up from using an Awaken.)

Fortitude's not so bad. Just pick 2-4 characters (depending on your recharge) that you'll always give it to, and cycle through them. My order of preference for Fortitude targets is:
    - Empathy Defenders
    - Empathy Controllers
    - Other Defenders
    - Other Controllers
    - Blasters
    - Anyone else

(Those first two in my list are because of playing with Green Machine. Move the two Controller slots down below Blasters for my AB order.)

Fire RA in the thick of battle. If anyone is out of range, either they don't need it or they're not playing with the team.

And just heal when it's needed. Between Regen Aura, Fortitude, and you killing things with your secondary, you shouldn't need more than a Healing Aura every now and then to top people off. Also, dying teammates means cheap powers...

Not particularly useful to monitor, IMO. It's actually Threat multiplier, not your actual Threat level (since Threat is on a per-critter basis). You have an inherent Threat multiplier, and there is very little that alters your multiplier; Super Speed, Superior Invisibility, Group Invisibility, Invisibility, and Phase Shift are all I can think of, each reducing the multiplier by 1.0.

True for GW. But we also got into a tangent about the Healing Nictus in the ITF, where it does matter which effect you apply to what target.

Yeah, the fact that they're DO-level enhancements available for free at level 1 makes them worth it. They'll stop working later, but I'll have access to better stuff then, too.

All of the holds will stack. But with or without your suggestion:
    - Lieutenants and lower are held with a single application
    - Bosses are held with two applications
    - Archvillains in triangles-down phase are held with two applications
    - Elite Bosses are held with two applications (your version), or three applications (current version)
    - Archvillains in triangles-up phase will take an extreme amount of recharge

In order to affect a target with a mez, you need to beat their mez protection.
Minions and players have mag 1 protection
    Lieutenants have mag 2 protection
Bosses and Archvillains have mag 3 protection
Elite Bosses have mag 6 protection

AVs have "Purple Triangles" mez protection for 2/3 of the time, granting +50 protection.

As you can see, except for EBs and triangles-up, your suggestion doesn't make any practical difference. And even with triangles-up, making a practical difference requires a substantial amount of +recharge considering that you have to beat 53 mag protection.

Dual Blades does not rely on long attack chains. Dual Blades' "secondary effect" is combos which are three attacks long. Three is a pretty short attack chain, if you could sustain just those three. Which is unlikely.

That's why attack chains were brought up in the first place. You've designed a set with only three attacks; that can't be maintained unless either the recharge/cast time ratio turns them into a terrible chain, or else you have a ton or recharge. Either it's a bad attack chain, or the attack chain isn't obtainable for most players.

I know we can have fractions in Knockback and Knockup Mag, but this silly little idea of mine hinges on the presumption that we can have factions of other Status Effects.
You can. In fact, Mesmerize (same set) is mag 3.5 sleep. And since boss critters have exactly mag 3 protection inherent to their rank, an effect above 3 (even by a fraction) will affect them, while exactly 3 won't. Mesmerize sleeps a boss in one hit.

However, on your suggestion for Dominate, it won't do much. There are only two cases where it will make any difference at all (and I mean ANY): natural EBs (not AVs that scale down to EBs, I mean actual EBs, which aren't particularly common), and fighting AVs on super-high recharge builds.

They're randomly-generated filler missions originally designed to help you get to the next tier of content if you don't level fast enough.

I wasn't going to mention it, but since Bill brought it up...

Repeat Offenders Network. Largest coalition of supergroups in the game, with 38 SGs across 3 servers (both hero and villain SGs). I don't think any of them fall in the "Top X SG" category on their server, but we've had several of them hit the SG membership cap before (of course, less commonly since the cap was raised).

RO is about teaming and doing crazy stuff, not grinding presitge. To paraphrase Castle, 'Repeat Offenders has publicly leveraged the game mechanics to do stupidly difficult things easily.'

Yes. "Top Supergroup" generally means top as listed by the SG registrar, which is purely by prestige earned. And to keep the top spot, they have to get people grinding prestige constantly. I definitely advise against joining groups claiming they're the top on the server.

Join a SG if it's full of people you enjoy hanging out with, whether it be people you've met in-game, or some real-life friends you play with. The Supergroup & Villaingroup Recruitment forum can help you find SGs full of actual players, rather than just prestige grinding. Or, ask around in your server's forum.

In actuality, the only thing a SG can give you that you can't get from a friends list is extra storage space for enhancements, inspirations, and salvage, but that's storage you share with the group, not personal storage. (And some zone teleporters go places you'd have to run/jump/fly to rather than taking the train.)

Pretty sure they are giving a box, since the GameStop deal also comes with a Razer Sphex(?) Desdemona mousepad. IIRC, the same type of mousepad (different art) costs $15, so that's not a bad deal, either.

PFF starts above the 45% softcap. The only reason to go any higher if if you're fighting something with substantial +tohit (note: higher-level enemies only get +acc until they're +6 or more to you). Offhand, I can't think of any enemy with enough +tohit to need defense slotting in PFF (and especially not more defense than just a single SO in the default slot), though you'd probably need it in PvP.

As above, there's no need for so much defense. Gunslingers don't have any +tohit, so even unslotted PFF alone is enough to floor the Gunslinger's chance to hit.

Gunslingers' attacks have inherent accuracy of 2.0 (most attacks have 1.0, Archery has 1.155, Assault Rifle has 1.05, most nukes have 1.4, etc...). So, while unslotted PFF will floor the Gunslinger's chance to hit, it will be slightly above 5% (10% for a +0 Gunslinger).

Right, I've got no problem with the Zombie Apocalypse being available all the time. It doesn't matter how many people are interested in the zombies, you can still kill more zombies just fine (same for Rikti Invasion, which is basically the same event with different opponents and the addition of the bomb phase).

The Deadly Apocalypse, on the other hand, requires a lot of coordination and/or teams in order to succeed. Which simply doesn't happen when it's a common occurrence and has little reward.

Well, I suppose you could set it up like the bank vaults: you can target them, but not with [tab]; you have to actually click on it.

Of course, it also brings up the issue that the game has a hard limit of rendering only 100 entities at once, and inanimate objects count as part of that.

    - 8 players
    - 20 critters (current spawn)
    - 40 critters (visible spawns)
    - 2 Dominator pets
    - 6 Mastermind henchmen
    - 4 Pseudopets
    (80 entities total)

That's not an uncommon reality for a Villain team. Of course, things change depending on the powersets and team composition. A Plant Dominator could add a bunch more, depending on dead enemies. A Thugs Mastermind could add an additional 13 from Gang War. A Traps Corruptor/Mastermind could add Trip Mines, Force Field Generator, Caltrops, Poison Trap, Seeker Drones, Acid Mortar...

Hero teams can do it, too, but they don't have Masterminds automatically adding 6. Of course, come GR, we'll have Hero/Vigilante/Rogue Masterminds, too. (Or, play in a co-op zone.)

It's not quite so dramatic to have the cardboard box explode as you run by if the cardboard box isn't being rendered at all. Or worse, the Malta Sapper you were trying to kill disappears because you got too close to the cardboard box.
  22. The biggest problem with GMs it that they're just a big sack of HP. Ideally, each GM encounter should be different. Lusca is close, because you have to be careful of all the tentacles as you go through defeating them and then the head itself.

With regard to the Deadly Apocalypse, I don't think they should have tied it to costume salvage outside of Halloween. I don't think it should be available outside of Halloween at all. In a Zombie Apocalypse, you can hang out in one spot and kill a bunch of zombies, or hang out with your team killing tons of zombies and getting some badges if you don't already have them, or ignore it and there's no harm to anyone else.

With the Deadly Apocalypse, you need either one full, capable, and coordinated team, two full coordinated teams, or 3+ teams participating. If there's not enough interest in the Deadly Apocalypse, nobody can finish it. If there's not enough interest in the Zombie Apocalypse (or, for that matter, Rikti Invasion), it doesn't matter. Deadly Apocalypse should be restricted to the Halloween Event.
  23. Slight tangent: have you tried out Supernatural Face 11 (or maybe 13, can't recall)? The face itself has its own detail to color the eyes like that.

Invulnerability and Shield Defense both have taunt auras with a longer Taunt duration than other sets (and Taunt duration does far more for your Threat rating than any other factor).
