As to storing salvage in the bases, that space is generally reserved for halloween, candy canes because Issue 13 reduced the salvage rack capacity from 2,500 pieces of salvage to 30. Groups are limited to 18 storage items for 150 characters. So that isn't a reliable means of storage.
This statement right here is what kills your idea. Because this may be what you choose to do with your storage, it is not what everyone else is doing. It most certainly is a reliable means of storage. Just because you choose not to do something does not give reason to ask for something to be changed. The tools are in front of you. All you need to do is use them.

But Anniversary Badges? I could see the reasoning of "I was around at that time with an active account and logged in at that time.".
Sure, it would be a stretch, but it would make as much sense to log in to a bunch of AE badges.

Personally, I want to see the Anniversary badges accountwide for selfish reasons. I have all of them, but not on the same character. I would like to delete one particular character, but hate to see his badges go, as he was my main badger for a while.
These were the ones I am not really either way about although my earlier post says the opposite. I think that anniversary badges could be done that way and can be "rp'd" to an extent.

What point did I prove? It is well known that the people who know how to use the market don't bother trying to make a profit off of salvage unless it is something that is reliable like rares. And honestly, I gave you several examples to use to get salvage since you do not want to use the market. I find it extremely funny to that you keep saying that the only way to get drops is buy the AE or use the market failing to remember that there are other ways.
  4. Quote:
Not all salvage is the same. While 1-2 pieces of salvage in a tier might be sought after, the others could sit for weeks if left alone. Given that sellers want fast turnover, they pull that salvage to sell to stores, don't put it on the market in the first place, or simply delete it.
Why do you think marketeers don't bother with salvage. It is not a reliable or sane economical choice to market in these. It is however the thing that new people getting into the market use to learn how the market works.

Well, I see that you changed your OP to reflect my question. In that case, I still say no. Not even if it is just for anniversary badges and others that do not effect game play. Badges are the rewards for the things a certain toon did. Not just something to be trraded to other toons.

And to answer your question, in your OP, you said " merge badge accounts" not badge lists like you changed it to.

Yeah, as bad as forcing people that don't want to play the market to do so. Basically my suggestion lets players choose to ignore the market, but use IOs (something that Reward Merits and AE Tickets almost do perfectly).
Where exactly are you being "forced" to use the market? You act as though salvage doesn't drop from running missions. Or can't be stored in a salvage rack or vault in your base.

    Quote:
...Even forcing players to use random rolls is a waste as comments above show that even those against this idea delete salvage that "isn't worth it".
Yeah, I love this one. Take what some people say and transfer that to the entire player base. At least that is how I read it. What someone does with their drops is what they chose to do. It does not mnean everyone does this.

    Quote:
...When I need specific salvage, I've got two choices: AE Tickets or the Market. Given those choices, I do not want to choose the market.
Good for you. Don't use the market then. And you have more then 2 ways of getting the specific salvage you need. The market and AE only being 2 of them, with running missions and base storage another 2. So there is at least 4 ways to get the salvage you want. If we exclude the market for you, that leaves 3 ways.

And as said before, when you go to random roll your tickets, choose the level range and type of salvage you want then you only have 6 pieces that can drop. So for spending 48 tickets you got 6 pieces of salvage all which could be the one you wanted.

I love seeing these "thinly veiled" fix the market threads though. Please keep them comming.

How many accounts are you running? And even if you are suggesting this for 1 account, it will never happen. This would allow the sale of toons.

I have seen them go for 20k blue side within the last few months. That is the lowest price since AE was introduced that I have seen them when I am on. I use that as a reference because it is possible to get them that low. But, regardless, all it takes is some paitience to get what you want through the market. And being able to cut down the amount of salvage for a random roll to 6 items, I don't see how in 10-12 rolls they aren't getting what they want and why they can't either sell what they don't want or store it in base to use later.

Ok, I'm back now. Still chuckling, but I am back. Just to test this whine about luck charms, I placed bids for 20 luck charms lastnight, 10 at 500 and 10 at 1000. The ones for 1000 filled. Is that the outrageously absurd price you are talking about? And just to clarify, I kept all those luck charms as I use them freaquently. I really have to agree with the people that say that some people are exaggerating a problem that doesn't really exsist.

EDIT: I missed 2 zeros and had 50 and 100 instead of 500 and 1000.

    Hey All,

We are in the process of rolling out a new version of the updater to handle upcoming changes to the game. There is a chance that you will run into one of the following problems, depending on how your computer is set up:

    Any of the following errors:

    "Error opening 'C:\Programs\City Of Heroes\CohUpdater.tmp'"
"Failed to rename C:\Programs\City Of Heroes\updater.exe to C:\cohtest\cohupdater.prv"

Please note that "C:\Programs\City Of Heroes\" will be replaced with wherever you have installed City of Heroes.

It's a pretty easy fix once you know the problem. This is only for folks with Vista+ who have renamed the updater to avoid the Admin prompt.

    1. Open your game directory. (Just right click on your shortcut and pick 'open file location.')
    2. Rename your file back to CohUpdater.exe.
    3. There will be a .prv file in the directory with the name you used for CohUpdater. Delete it.
    4. Run CohUpdater.exe directly. Enter your admin password and let the updater start up.
    5. Don't bother starting the game, just quit.
    6. Rename your CohUpdater.exe back to something else, like CohStarter.exe.

    That's it.

If you also run against the test server, you can just copy the exe over. Or, in step 4, you can make a shortcut to CohUpdater.exe, add the -test command line switch in, and then run via the shortcut.

Other problems updating may be caused by particular anti-virus and anti-malware software. This will have different effects depending on what is interfering with the update.

Most of these issues are caused by software firewalls blocking the update, or after the update occurs, the firewall ‘quarantines’ files that it thinks are possibly malicious due to them changing.

The first thing that should be done is configure your firewall:

Make sure that both cohupdater.exe and cityofheroes.exe are added as trusted programs, with full access to the Internet. Sometimes old entries remain, so you may need to remove all current entries for these applications and re-add a new one. Disabling the software does not always allow free access across your program files. If the errors persist after this you could try temporarily uninstalling your firewall software.

Next, if you still see checksum errors, delete the file coh.checksum, then find the file that the checksum is failing on, such as cityofheroes.exe in the game’s root directory, or player.pigg in the Piggs directory and delete that file as well. Once deleted run the updater again, and the files should download properly.

If you are still experiencing an issue after configuring your security software, temporarily uninstalling your security software, and deleting the game files that are causing an error, please submit a question to our Technical Support Team here: (http://help.plaync.com/cgi-bin/playn...nduser/ask.php) so that we can address the issue on an individual basis. Please include the following information so that we may better assist you.

We have a small utility that will run traceroutes, pathpings, and port tests to our servers; please run this test so that we will have some data regarding your connection. Make sure that you are connected directly to your modem during this process. To download the network tool, please browse to the following link:

    Network Tool

Right-click the "netinfotool" file and choose Save As. Save the file to your desktop. After the download is complete, double-click the file on your desktop. Follow the on-screen prompts. The tool will take from 5-15 minutes to run. It will create two new files, one named "EULA" and one named "network_data_coh", in the same folder where you saved the test utility. Please include this file in your support question.

Please also send us as much of the following information as possible:

A thorough description of the problem, including the exact text of any error messages received.
What type of connection do you have (cable, DSL, dial-up)?
Are you on a home, campus, or business network?
    Are you using a router?
Who is your Internet service provider?
    Where are you located?
Are you connecting through a router or hub? If so, what is the name and model number?
What firewall software do you have installed?

Finally, If you are using the NOD32 virus scanner:

The first thing that should be done is configure your firewall:

Make sure that both cohupdater.exe and cityofheroes.exe are added as trusted programs, with full access to the Internet. Sometimes old entries remain, so you may need to remove all current entries for these applications and re-add a new one. Disabling the software does not always allow free access across your program files.

    * If you have NOD32 installed you will need to configure or disable the IMON feature in that program by doing the following:

    1. Open the NOD32 program
    2. Click on IMON -> Setup -> General
    3. In the column "Exceptions," click on "Modify"
    4. Make sure that cohupdater.exe and cityofheroes.exe are added as exceptions or disable the IMON feature altogether.

Hope this is helpful, please let us know if you have further questions.

  17. I will bite one last time then that is it. If you do not understand that no supply and all low ball bids for the item will drive off market sales, then you know nothing of what you speak. In your system, it allows the buyer to see the highest bid, in this case we will go back to my example, a highly sought after io/recipe. It doesn't have to be a bid capped io/recipe, it could be an LoTG: def/+increased recharge.

Buyer goes to market, sees 100 bids and the highest is 2,000,000. The buyer seeing this knows that a seller would not list the item seeing these numbers. The buyer asks around if anyone has one and low and behold, someone does and it is even on the same server same side. Buyer and seller reach an agreed price and that is all it takes. Does that clarify why your idea won't work to help the market?
  18. Actually, the first paragraph was not meant to show you support, but the people that have actually tried to get you to undertand what will happen with a non blind market system. If you do not understand how this will effect the markets in a negative way then there is no need to carry on this discussion.

EDIT: Damn joo Red....joo beat me.
  21. A tank is a tank, not a scrapper. and a scrapper is a scrapper, not a tank. In other words, they are different AT's and should be left that way. I have a fire/ss tank that suffers from this syndrome you wish for and it gets borring after a while. I don't even play my brutes as much because of this.

The primary powers of an AT are what defines the AT. A tank screams damage taker while a scrapper screams damage dealer.
  22. Well, let me see, first we have someone who thinks that being able to see bids/sales figures will be a good thing. Next we have people who are very educated in the market system and how it works explaining how it won't work, and these people have been pretty much on the mark when it comes to guessing what will happen when things change. I have to go with the market peeps on this one.

What will happen is people will bid by increments of 1 to be the first in line. This then causes things to go off market because of "instant gratification" for both parties involved. And before you go saying that they will list it, please tell me that you would list a purple or even just a halfway decent IO if the highest bid was 2001. Wait a new bid came in, 2002. Wait another new one... oh, just 2003. Knowing I can get a much higher price for the item, I go off market and sell immediately for what I wanted thus shafting anyone on the market for the item.

And please, before you go saying that placing things on the market for 1 will net you the highest bid, I will argue that that is not always the case. I have tested this before and can tell you that if anyone has a bid for 1 up and you list something for 1, you stand a very good chance of getting 1 for your item. I will admit I haven't tried this for about 2 yrs but that is how i remember the market working with bids/listings. I appologize if this part has changed.
  23. Ok, so in other words, you want a scanker(scrapper/tank mix)? definately /unsigned.

Actually, if you wait until GR, you can bring brute to hero side and voila, you have a "tank" with a fillable +damage bar.
  24. I will /unsigned this.

Most attacks on a tank already have a taunt component to them. And your +damage for x amount of time already comes in the form of build up or rage.
