  2. Well as ParagonWiki points out, you will also have the chance to change them at level 35 and 45.
  3. Since the last patch was last Thursday the 6th and if it ran fine two days ago, the 9th then the conclusion is something else changed on your system. Like today's big Windows Update.
  4. Also don't forget when they do free up names, as long as nobody takes it, you don't lose it. It's not as if all your character's names are changed.
  5. Doesn't look like many people are. Even I'm having a tough time finding out anything about a GT 220M. The best I can determine is that it's a rebadged or tweeked GT 120M. 128-bit memory bus, 32 SPs, think an 8600GT with DDR2 memory in a laptop. However it's only pushing around a 1 megapixel of display so that should be a reasonable amount of power for a display of that size. But don't expect premium performance in modern games with all the knobs set to 11. Plan to compromise on your settings to get consistent framerates over 30fps.

Compared to the two laptops Gamma pointed to, those have a GTX 260M which is roughly 3 to 4x faster but it's also pushing twice the number of pixels.
  6. Tags are new. I notice that the tagging system will provide a list of tags as you type so if someone else already used aebabies for instance, it will display as a drop down so you can choose it.

I've been trying to mark threads with more generic terms like "new player" or "tanker" in the Players Help forum and tags like "game", "movie", "tv", "comic", "anime" over on the Comic and Hero/Villain Culture forum.
  7. Problem is that back then, when the 7600GT came out, it was common that the 512MB version of the card had slower memory, sometimes a lot slower. What you need to look for is a card with GDDR3 memory clocked at 1400MHz instead of DDR2 clocked at 800MHz. The core clock should be 560MHz.

The choice is either lowering your desired resolution, AA setting and texture quality setting; or suffer some unknown amount of penalty due to additional texture swapping; or suffer some unknown amount of performance penalty due to only having 57% of the memory bandwidth to video memory that a DDR3 256MB card has. This if for games in general not just this one.

Of course beggars can't be choosy.
  8. Yep. Annoying isn't it. Check the date in the upper right corner of the page as to when you were last on. Mine says Yesterday at 5:30 PM. Been on four times since then.

    Changing Names

    But only ONCE!

    You have been warned.

OK, I have to ask, where are all these overly cute bobble-head anime styled avatars coming from?

  11. Of course since it's standard policy to not discuss GM conversations or actions, we will never hear the other side of the story which is why I find the tag "the gm kicked my puppy" very funny since anyone can claim anything when it comes to a GM.
  12. It's not clear if you are talking to me or not FMJ but I rather assume that my antivirus software won't protect me from infection 100% of the time than assume that it does and therefore never run a full drive scan to be sure.

  14. There was a problem once with Kheldians where you could add slots into powers you shouldn't have yet while going through the respec and would cause the respec to fail. Was this on one of the unlocked ATs by any chance?
  15. Mission contacts are structured very differently in CoH than CoV. They resemble more traditional contact trees from older RPGs than the Broker/Paper mission structure of CoV.

This lists most of the contact and missions found in CoH. Story Arcs are noted with a book icon. The "standard" contact tree generally gives you 5 contacts, one per origin type, every five levels. Then there are contacts in the various story zones, Prof Backfire listed those areas.
  16. There are two, three depending how you count it, aspects to a power.

    1) The numbers. Activation and recharge times, endurance cost, damage dealt or healed, secondary effects, root time, interrupt time, range, etc. These being numbers that drive the "power engine", they can be changed quickly.

    2) and/or 3) Animation and FX. This is what takes time and manpower when it comes to developing a totally new powerset. In some cases they can "borrow" existing animations from similar powers but most powers in new powersets have to be created from scratch. Same goes with any visual effects associated with the power or projectile fired at a foe.

And actually there is one last time consuming task when it comes to a new powerset and that is if the new power does something that the "power engine" doesn't do yet and has to be coded to add that ability. The combo system for Dual Blades for instance. And such changes may be more time consuming than even the adding animations and visual effects.
  17. I don't expect my AV and anti-malware software to prevent me from getting infected except from older, well known viruses. I use my AV and anti-malware software to notify me as soon as possible that I've been infected.

I rely on Firefox or any browser that isn't tied at the hip with the OS, keeping my software up to date things such as Flash, a 3rd party PDF reader (Foxit) as well as "good" browsing habits to prevent me from downloading any trojans. If I was on a broadband connection I would also use a router with a hardware firewall as well.
  18. I enjoy the reading the tags added to this thread.
  19. Not sure what resets that. Currently it resets about once a day for me even though a visit the board a couple of times a day (shutting down the browser in between).
  20. Lets see, have you done the mission arcs in the revamp Faultline yet?

Watch out for occasional Zombie uprisings (sky turns red) in zones as well as the Rikti zone invasions (sky turns green and the war walls shut down in CoH).

    There's the whole Midnighter's Club/Cimeroia zone.

Missions as well as Flashback to old arcs though the Ouroboros zone.
  21. Another vote for the 7600GT.

The ThinkPad T60p uses an ATI FireGL 5200 video. I can play the game but only in safe mode. If you try to launch in normal mode you will crash every time. Frame rate in safe mode is the pits, but it works.

Hopefully in a month or two I will have my desktop system back and can enjoy COX in it's full graphic glory, until then, at least I can play.
Post the output of CoHHelper and HiJackThis into this thread so we can see what your setup is.

That's more to due with the fact the forum software either doesn't remember that you've visited the board more recently (see last visited date in upper right corner) or simply doesn't register that you already looked at that thread. And yes it's annoying.
