So Confused by New Forum

Hi there, so I have no idea how to find threads that I have posted in before. I know before we made this move I could do it.

I saw a guide for the new forums somewhere, but darn if I can find it. I tried to search for it, but my Search-Fu was always weak and now I think it is broken.

So, I guess, could someone point me in the general direction of the guide. I'm sure I can find my way from there.

USER CP > click on "Your Profile" (it's a link in a header, not an item under a header) in the left column to go to your profile > click on "Statistics" > click on "Find all posts by {yourname}"

Now how do I search for specific topics.

SEARCH > Advanced Search (underneath the input box) > boggle at all the options!

Ok. SO I want to be able to automatically start where I left off in the thead. As it stands now I can get to a post I want, but then have to scroll through 3 pages.

Little down arrow in front of a thread's title will jump you to the first unread post. Also there is a "View First Unread" link right under the "New Reply" button at the top of each thread.

Also, if you leave a thread and then decide you want to reply, the arrow pointing right in the last poster column will take you to the last post

To pick up from YOUR last post in a thread:

Advanced Search.

Your ID in the user name box

At the bottom, select "by posts"

Now each result shows the thread title, and below that the title of your post (which will be the same as the thread title unless you changed it). Click on your title to go to your last post.


As otherwise mentioned, the little downarrow works well when you're browsing by threads.

Also: a little bent arrow appears on the envelope picture (the ones on left side) of all threads in the thread listing you have a post in

Yeah, I've been noticing it's forgetting I've read a post already as well.

Hey all, I've written a Firefox Greasemonkey user script to address a lot of these issues and more. If you're interested, I posted a thread about it here.

Not sure what resets that. Currently it resets about once a day for me even though a visit the board a couple of times a day (shutting down the browser in between).

I have the same issue of pages saying that I haven't seen them yet even though I have.

It should be noted though that while easily reproducible, it ONLY happens when I CLOSE my browser and open it again later.

If I just leave my browser open and then refresh an hour later, it shows the new posts and old posts exactly as they should be. It looks like a cookie issue to me.

i guess that's my problem. i tend to close my browser to make sure it resets the old posts as "old" and then i come back and they're still marked new. This wouldn't be an issue if there was a "mark all as read" option on these forums.

i hate how bassakwards these forums are...
