Webcomic comment on the cancellation of SGU and the folly of the Nielsen rating system.

Quote:Amen brother. When I went to the midnight showing of Thor there was a group of high school/college age guys sitting a couple of seats from me and before the movie one was talking it up about Aliens and how Michael Bay should remake it because it was the best of the franchise and he could really punch up the action and how the first movie Alien was so bad because it looked like it was from the 70s and it didn't have any action at all and the only good parts was when the women came out of sleep in the beginning topless and in panties.IThe real problem is all the ADD-headed buffoons who think things can't be enjoyable when they're not shiny and new.
Of course Alien came out in 1979 and it wasn't an action film but a horror film and since I didn't want to get tossed out of the theater before Thor, I didn't beat those facts into him with my meaty fists of justice but God I wanted to oh so badly. -

Did anyone honestly believe there was going to be some awesome special effects considering everything that came before on this show?
I'm not even sure if Welling was actually ever in "the costume". It was either headshots, blurs, long distance shots, overly backlit shots topping with a quick pan and dissolve to a comicbook page. And the final scene ripping open the shirt to reveal the S doesn't count.
The only good thing it had was the JW theme. At least they had that. -
The problem I have with The Event is the total personality shifts that happens with most of the major characters. The whole damn cast is bipolar. Maybe that was caused by a shift in writers or showrunner but for a series that wanted to be the next Lost, you sort of need some consistency in character.

Doesn't surprise me, sounds like someone in Hollywood flipped through the manhwa, got a few ideas from it and spun a completely new story while licensing the name.
After all it's Hollywood that's looking to cast a 40 something white guy in the role of a teenage motorcycle gang member while keeping the name. -

Wait ... there was an end to Ranma 1/2?

Quote:That makes sense. In a GPU bound situation, additional video cards allows for a higher minimal frame rate with alternate frame rendering.Okay, back when they started fiddling with SLI in the game, I got together with a buddy of mine from nVidia.
He tossed a pair of GTX 470's and a fairly powerful test rig at the game and found this.
SLI enables higher resolution at acceptable framerates.
SLI enables higher graphical settings at acceptable framerates.
SLI does NOT really translate into an appreciable gain in top-end framerate at lower resolutions. -

Quote:Not quite. In fact, getting a more powerful power supply than you need can cost you in terms of power draw and case heat.
If the system uses say 130 watts, it'll still only draw 130 watts with a 500 watt PSU. The upside is that with a modern 80plus PSU, there is less heat generated due to the improved AC to DC efficiency. -
It's a netbook class computer (CPU/GPU wise) so while it can run the game, don't expect great or even good performance. We are talking relatively low settings still.

Official NBC announcements.
Well we do get a gritty cop drama set in a world where Grimm's fairy tales are real. I'm guessing a half a season for that. Yea NBC.
On the remake train, ABC is relaunching Charlie's Angels. Oh boy. -
Well I heard that while Asgards walking down the street looked campy and the Midgard story was essentially a "fish out of water" story, the other worldness of Asgard and Jotunheim was too different (and too dark in the case of Jotunheim, too CGI shiny for Asgard) for the casual comic fan.
Of course for those who enjoy Baysplosion action films enjoyed all the SMASH fighting scenes, it was great (which still explains why those same people still think X-Men 3 was the best movie of the trilogy). -

What GL doesn't have going for it, like Thor, is a chunk of the movie in CGI land with lots of CGI critters. If the weak part for Thor was Asgard, not sure how the Oa scenes will be received by the critics.
As for Ryan Reynolds, I think the Hollywood group think was;
A) Test pilots are cocky bastards.
B) Think of an actor who plays cocky bastards that looks like he can fit in a fighter jet and still looks good in spandex (which thankfully eliminated Seth Rogen).
C) Won't cost a lot if the movie does well enough for sequels. -
I watched the first episode today (yesterday, whatever). Found a stream source with subtitles off of Bing.
Pretty cool. Beast's face is a little odd but I can't say what's bothering me about it.
At least in this world the general population isn't totally freaked by mutants (pirate scene with Storm).
Quote:Except Halle Berry didn't get breast enlargement surgery or strapped a couple of large water balloons to her chest (TVTropes: Most Common Superpower). Other than that sure. I think even Logan is taller. -
Still waiting for the press release about what's staying, what's going and what's new from NBC. Right now it's a battle of inside sources.

Top/Bottom, you understood what I meant. I tend to build systems with bottom mounted PSUs for people with carpeted floors so to me, the fan faces up.
In a generic 3rd party case (Antec, Cooler Master, etc) with a top mounted PSU, there is a shelf or lip that part of the PSU can rest on, taking part of the weight of the PSU off of the four screws holding the PSU to the rear of the case.
Now the big names like HP, Dell, Gateway, etc don't necessarily use something as simple as a folded out bit of the motherboard tray to support their PSUs. Some of these methods can prevent you from using a PSU longer than 140mm (5.5"). But I don't know about that HP case. But you can check to see if there is a latch, tab, slot, clip that may be in the way either on the inside top or side of the case. Who knows, maybe it does have a little shelf to support the PSU but I can't tell from any of the online service manuals what it has. All I do know is the original PSU has 19 amps (224 watts) at 12 volts and is 140mm long.
Also microATX cases tend to be short so inside there isn't a lot of space between the PSU and the DVD drive. That may also restrict you on PSU length. Again you have the case in front of you, you can check with a ruler how long you can go. Just leave some space for all the cables. A sheathed 24 pin power cable isn't as flexible as a loose bunch of wires so it doesn't bend as sharply, taking a bit of extra space.
I'm just trying to make sure you don't buy something that won't fit in your case for some reason. A little due diligence goes a long way. -
I'm not a fine connoisseur of anime character design. Maybe Witchblade?
This show is produced by Madhouse so maybe it's in a styling of one of their other recent series? -
TV by the Numbers has WW picked up.

A couple of things.
First, a service manual I downloaded for that style case doesn't have any info about replacing the PSU so I can't tell if there is an additional retention mechanism in that case other than the four screws on the PSU. The reason that this is important is because in some instances the additional retention mechanism may limit this length of the PSU to the standard ATX12V spec. The "standard" size is 150mm x 140mm x 86mm. Most PSUs with top mounted fans exceed the standard to maximize the size of the fan. Also modular PSUs are also longer to accommodate the plugs for the modular cable harnesses.
Second, Ultra doesn't have a sterling rep when it comes to PSUs.
I would recommend the Antec's EarthWatts line. They are the "standard" size and the 430 watt version puts out more 12 volt power (32 amps Vs 30 amps) as that Ultra one. -
Wonder if the choice of Booster Pack has anything to do with what's happened with that other NCSoft product that's on our launcher? Then again it's probably one of the most popular ones.

Well I thought it was a well done parody. No need to read any deeper than that.
