  1. yea in CO it's just better to go ahead and pay the subscription. Even though it seemed to have more build options than a fresh player free for play COX player.

    Basically.

Only press I have been able to find anyways still is only on grassroot blogs/sites that are relatively unknown outside the gaming world and one CNN ireport that hasnt seem to have hit mainstream, at least not yet.

Lots of companies stock prices have been falling.
Facebook, more users than they ever had and steady flow os user, but their stocks continue to tumble.

I think whether or not Paragon studios stayed open, their stocks would have still fallen, but yet still, when stocks fall, companies tend to cut back on operation costs by closures and layoffs, usualy starting off with the small stuff before moving to the meat of their operation.

Maybe they was comparing what this game was originally bringing in, about 9 million per reporting session compared to now, about 2 million per reporting session and might have seen the steady decline and decided to cut out before it slipped even further. Or maybe some one was looking for a scapegoat and paragon studios was easy to offload. Maybe some one got pissed, and hated paragon studios and pulled the plug. Or maybe they was expecting a rack of cheese to magically appear from the power lines that connected Paragon Studios and since that didnt happen, cut the studio. Or maybe someone didnt like the name Paragon. Who knows besides the people that made the actual decision at this point.

But if this "Save COH" actually have any meaningful press, that someone that may have have never heard of COH would come across, point me there in that direction. I mean hell, what the Kardashians are wearing today make front page of most search engine's news reports without so much havign to type in a "K" yet only way to find out about the closure of COX is either people that were alreasy playing MMOs and heard about it, COX players, and few people that we may have told. On a whole, most people still dont know this game nor the effort to save it in one fashion or another exist.
  5. LMAO.

Now that is a funny and entertaining video.

I actually think some of this is very unhealthy. No one, that I've seen, has really talked about it-- but depending too much on an online game is just not healthy.

Sure, I was a little sad the day I heard the news....for a few days out.....however, I got over it. I knew one day I'd no longer play-- whether by my own "boredom" or the game being shut down. I think it was on a great path (finally living up to what I thought it always could be)....but, the funding was lost.

You have to move on and deal.

I personally always knew whatever I did in game was for my "enjoyment" and nothing would last forever. I had a choice in life: I could go back to school and work my butt off and get an awesome degree while playing CoH when I could....or just play CoH and become the person with one of every character, all purpled out, etc.

I chose to balance my life. Now that CoH is gone, I'm doing great in my field and heading to grad school in infectious diseases.....I knew that infectious diseases would be there when the game was shut down.

I had to sacrifice a LOT to get through my degree-- wasn't handed anything. My computer, UNEXPECTEDLY!, blew up after my first year back and i couldn't afford to replace it....and the last 4 years, I haven't been able to play CoH regularly. For 3 of those years, I couldn't play CoH at all. Only since I moved in with my roomie have I been able to use the computer, when he wasn't, to play CoH....so I was back in a limited capacity to see all the new stuff. Ya know what, as of Nov 30th? It doesn't matter what I missed or I would have gained if I had played all the way through. My degree still matters after Nov 30th. Life always has to be analyzed this way, you have to see what's important and what matters.

If you are a person of clout or with the ability to help, sure....go for it. If the game is saved, that's great! If it's not, I move on. It was fun. No matter how much I "wish it to be" one way or another, my wishes mean nothing. If it's here, great...if it's not, goodbye.

I don't see how putting a lot of energy into this makes a bit of difference....how hating those that have an easier time with this makes any difference at all.

I have no useful-online-game-saving skills....nor the money to help. Those that do, go crazy. I hope it works out for you, but, we all know it may not...even with all the effort.

Putting this into perspective (1= someone ate my PB&J sandwich and I have to make another, 10 = Asia-sized-asteroid hurtling towards earth) I'd have to say this ranks pretty low.

Would I like it to continue (with all the new powersets, revamps, costumes, etc. still coming in often.) Yes! But.....there's nothing I can do otherwise.

And I feel to cling in such a way is not very healthy at all.

Though, this is coming from someone who was literally addicted to his first online game: EverCrack. I had to completely re-align my views about online gaming and fix "me" before I could ever play another online game. This is where i get the sense of being able to keep myself in perspective....lose yourself in a game (which is easy to do) and you are throwing away your life.

Someone in this post said something about feeling like being "trapped" by the decision that was made to end the game.

There's so many actual pressing things in life that should make people feel trapped.....wages, jobs, the recession. The vice grip the wealthy and corrupt have on our nation. Things like this should be the things we concern ourselves with.

So, as an alternative view to the people that hope against hope....and tell others to hope. There's this view. You had fun playing, that is what mattered. You have to balance your life....some people have fun at the bars....some do it online....but it's all in balance. This may go away, but who's to say another online game might not take it's place? Or perhaps, you learn to compensate by being more social than you already are...which is NOT a bad thing.
    <----This.

Only if I had a way of putting this into a signature. Exactly what I been trying to say all along but guess not as eloquent. Or too early.

    please read.

what buisness isnt a money making scam?

It takes about 3 cents to produce a box of named brand ceral including the artwork, raw maertials and energy to turn it into a finished product. Yet, anyone would be hard pressed to find a box Of Kellogs below $3 if not into the upper end of $5. Pure profits.

It's just another type of service of someone seeing an opportunity where people are willing to pay and they are not willing to stop them.

People already think I live in a padded room or should be in one. Meh, you'll get used to it. And I run the old Posi too mostly of the time. One, didnt want waste 30 mins tryign to scrape up a team, stiff competition with that Sewer trail. Two, I liked going my own pace and not having to worry about someone wanting to stealth/map tour because they only have 5 mins to play. In my head, I'm like "Didnt someone tell you that this is a tf? A series of mishes?"

  10. yeah nothing like smashing an enemy with a near by semi truck. Or buying a jet thingy and raining all types of hell down on them.
  11. think there has been about two other threads about beta being down and according to the response, it's not just your computer and seem widespread.

Not sure if it is permanent or just taking longer to get back up due to possible lacl of personnel and that is assuming they know its down and not suppose to be down.

And your questions are precisely why I decided to put it up in my Etsy shop. It's an established sales site and payments are made through Paypal, which is a very secure and commonly used payment vendor. You can log into Paypal as a guest, in which case they will not store your information at all.

I have absolutely NO access to any of your information except the email address that you used for payment. I get an email from Paypal telling me that you've made a payment from that email address. Etsy only gives me the information that you give me about your order - no actual financial information is entered into Etsy by the buyer at any point. That's entirely done through Paypal. Paypal also provides significant protection for the buyer if there is any reason for you to feel that I'm not actually making or shipping a cape for you.

You receive a shipping confirmation with a tracking number from Etsy when I ship the package, and I'll send the photograph of your cape to the email address you used for payment, unless you specify another one. Etsy functions somewhat like Ebay, except it's for set-price sales rather than auctions.

Does that help alleviate your concerns?
Yep, now I'ma go look at paypal's information and privacy policies.

Which might be as simple as "we're cutting back" to a "whole lot of details and you better not tell anyone outside this corporation of else we'll make you disappear" thing. Who knows besides Zwill and the people that told him that probably was told exactly what to say from people that was told to exactly what to say.

The only people that will ever know the true true reason is probably people that participated in that board room decision and from the looks of it and the listed financial reports, the board members are not many and of course the CEO is also head of that board.

    Beta Server Down

probably some run of the mill server problem. Only difference is that there might not be much of a team that is sitting around waiting to fix the server or a good way to contact them to let them know the server is down until they just so happen to discover it.
  19. Evil_Legacy

    Cryptic role.

I've been wondering for a while now.

Some people say that Cryptic has nothing to do with any portion of this cgame at all since the time they sold it to NCSoft.

Others say that Cryptic still owns the engine that this game is running on.

Now on the actual log in screen for the game is are logos at the bottom.

One is for Paragon Studios-the Sub. of NCSoft and developer of the game.

One is for NCSoft-the big dawgs that own everything.

The Teen rating thing-To keep angry parents of underaged people off their backs.

And then there is Cryptic Studios-who company supposedly or have not or maybe they did sell all rights and claim to the game but if that is the case or not the case, why would NCSoft keep a logo of the competition on their login screen?

Or I guess better way to put it is, What do cryptic studios do in relation to this game that gets their logo on the front page of the login screen?

Hmm, I wonder which is more likely?
Personally I would want to wish the second one is more than certain but it's not heard of for at least US buisness and probably non-US based ones maybe just a little tiny non-noticable outside finance world fib on their financial reports. It is said to happen alot inside some buisness sources. But proving it before it goes "Enron" is another matter.

In the lack of evidence of showing this, whether it's hard to get or hidden or dont exist, compared to there seems to be evidence that the staff was shocked and had future plans, I think the second option is more likely.
  21. Nothing lasts for ever whether if it's a game fro NCSoft, Nexon, dude next door, or PWI. If it is a MMO eventually like any other game, support will eventually cease. Unlike console games, when support is ceased, the game is still functional.

There was and or is a big uproar that EA is ceasing support for the online service for Madden 10 and other games. Meaning players are no longer able to play online with other players, but the single player is able to function, but that did not make people less angrier as many complained that they spent $60 on the game and various other stuff while playing while only to have it suddenly shut off when many players still wanted to play.

Some just take longer than others so it is risky unless the companies start putting an exact expiration date on games, which I dont think they will, they can go at any moment. Some dont make it past the first update. If they did put an exact date on games of when all support will cease if mean they may be stuck with a flopping product for said lifetime. And also, it might mean that people will jump ship as time gets near that expiration date, unless they just easily say that are extending the date and then they have to figure how long again until eventually it too will be time to go to sleep.

I've seen a few Justice forum members over there. They have a list on the CO forum that was started by an ex-COX player and many of ex-COH players placed their name and what server they played on the thread. So there is probably more COX Justice channel people there than on that list, as I've seen at least two in all 15 pages since I last checked.

And there is a bunch of COX players there from all over. They basically set up their own little community there, with a channel and everything.
  23. The costume customization

    The story arcs/missions

    The powers

    Ease of PuG

Ease of leaving that PuG to solo and still level up.

    Somewhat nice maps.

    Cool concept.

That is about it for me that I can think of. Short list but it is the most important things that matter to me in a game.
