Quote:Its not as easy as you make it out to be. There is so much politics involved with it that most of the time I just dont bother. Being the leader is such a headache because of that. For the most part the only teams I will form will be TF/SF teams because then I dont have to worry about filling the slot for that person that just left that said "SG calling" but dont have a SG to begin with.
-
This is why you should have taken advantage of the free character transfers and such. I got all my toons that I wanted to keep off the dead servers and moved them to where they actually have a realistic chance of being on a team without having to wait 5+ hours. Some folks like dead servers but I dont. Eventually what I see happening is a serverless system they talked about a few years back. This in of it self would fix things so much in this game making TF/SFs happen way more often and it would be healthier for the markets in the long run.

For going rogue I plan to create a praetorian version of castle. I will call him Enpassant. I just need to know what primary and secondary Castle uses. His back story will be how he creates a machine that buffs every powerset known to man, similar to the recluese 4 towers thing and nerfs all existing AV/Heroes into the ground so even lvl 1 hellions can beat lvl 54 recluese.
-
-
Simple question for you all. Why in the hell do yall have discussions like this? All it does is give them a reason to look at powerset that they otherwise would not be looking at. Its almost like yall are nerf herding but not realizing it. If anything the conversations need to be like, as a level 50 FM/FA scrapper I been getting owned by lvl 1 hellions, or something along those lines. We all know it takes forever and a day to get them to buff a set, at least doing it from the this powerset iz teh sux just cuz approach, whatever its being overshadowed by is less likely to get looked at, where as Shield does everything better posts only gets shields knocked down a few pegs when its really not that great without IOs to begin with. Some of you might say well the devs datamining would let them know if it needs a buff or a nerf, but I have absolutely no faith and in their datamining because of some previous nerfs that made absolutely no sense what so ever. Either way it goes many of you need to watch what you post because you end up getting other people's characters gutted for no good reason in the long run.

I totally agree here. What I do is mix HOs and procs on all my MMs. Basically I go for the soul bound proc for which ever pet that does the most damage for a single attack. In the case of ninjas I put it in the Jounin. As for as my total slotting its pretty much 3 acc/dam HO, defense and resists procs, soul bound proc. Tier 3 pet might get 1 additional slot for end reduction as they tend to run low on end at times. The procs work good for ninjas because you can put the -resist proc that boosts all the pets damage when it lowers the resists of the target. Set bonuses pretty dont happen for me because garbage like 2% sleep resistance isnt going to do squat for me. Stuff like +damage is worthless because I have no personal attacks outside of the veteran stuff. I dont need defense or resistance because I rarely get attacked and when I do its usually when I am body guard mode so its barely any damage. I think overall they need to go back at look at set bonuses because some ATs dont benefit from them at all.
-
Now if we can just get them to make excutioner's shot to be worth taking, this might be the start of a good powerset. That power just seems so out of place for the piddly damage it does compared to similar powers. It just dont feel right with the other smooth animations.
-
So what does the animation look like now?Is it just that internally the activation time is zero but it still has the same animation time?

Quote:There is this little thing called endurance reduction enhancements. Lrn2SlotEndReduceIos.So, this has been bugging me ever since I started replaying Masterminds since they changed them.
I understand it reduces setup time by a good deal to have the Equip and Upgrade powers AoE, but they're just so endurance expensive now. It makes playing pets like Ninjas pretty darn frustrating because when you lose one teir one pet, which happens every fight, you have to spend nearly your entire endurance bar to resummon and re-upgrade.
Now, I'm sure people land on both sides of the fence here. People like the new AoE upgrades. I personally prefered the old single target upgrade, since you could easily resummon a tier 1 pet and reequip, without having to rest. It makes playing a MM tedious for me because I'm constantly spending my entire endurance bar resummoning one pet.
But what if we reintroduced the power, by allowing you to have a choice between the old and the new equip, or perhaps even granting the ability to do either? -
Gonna go DS/Thermal but will wait till GR to do it. I think thermal is the best overall fit. Enough resistance so they dont get one shotted, and enough healing to make them last longer. I might have to take the attacks for debuffing purposes so I can possibly solo some avs with the set.

Its nice to see you guys flame someone besides me for a change.

Yeah I have, I have a lvl 30 DP/MM blaster, yes its sexy but it is still fluff at best. I lvled that toon during 2xp weekend when I took a short break from Aion. Pretty much all we have gotten lately and whats in issue 17 has been fluff. Real content to me is adding a new zone with more than 2 arcs in it. We have not had this since issue 10 I think with the rikti stuff.
-
I havent been playing CoX much at all these days. Just waiting on the "REAL" content from going rogue instead of all the fluff we been getting lately. Been playing Aion for the most part. Its alot easier to gear out alts in that game than it is in CoX which is kind of why its held my attention as long as it did. While that game does have its market issues too its kind of opposite to what we have here. Players retardedly list items for way less than what it costs to make the items, undercutting items into the ground. Then we had the issues of bots making it where gathering and selling components was near useless because the bots undercut everything into the ground. Dont get me wrong I like lower prices but not when you are losing 5 to 10 times what it costs to make the items. Now that the botting problem is under control there, I just hope the issue of the retarded undercutters gets resolved at some point.

Quote:Dude I never said that. What I said was people who played redside tend to be better players. So whether thats you only playing CoV from the start or a player who started playing CoV from Coh. Its just that when you are strictly a CoH player you usually will not be as good of a player. Again thats just been my personal experience over the past 6 years. Thats what I said. Stop trying to twist things around.Wow, someone better call Belle-Reeve and get my admission papers in order. I had no idea that I was 2 different players, dependent on whether I was playing Redside or Blueside.
I want to thank EvilRyu for that quick diagnosis that I am somehow 2 separate people. I'm sure the good doctors can see to it that I find balance and become purple. -
Quote:Villains have the disadvantage but they are better players overall. Villains are used to dealing with much harder content than what heroes get. Because of this I feel when they switch over they are going to blow the easier hero content out of the water because its going to be trivial to them making the current merit times look like a sick joke. I dont see heroes doing so well on redside is because they would never have to deal with all the annoying crap that villains deal with so they would have to go slower. Not to say they are at a disadvantage but its just they will have to think about strategy alot more.I'm confused. In the first paragraph, you say that villains have a number of systemic disadvantages compared to heroes. In the second paragraph, you say that all-villain AT teams are going to destroy heroside content. Which one is it?
edit: and what does this have to do with the BM? -
Quote:I simply dont trust whatever solution they come up with. Unless its something stupidly retarded like infinite merits for a short time I dont see anything that they could come up with that will make folks stay on redside with the market being the way it is. The problem with the whole thing has been since day 1, devs hate villains. Yes I said it devs hate villains. Everything about CoV is gear in such a way that it gives the heroes too many advantages, from the suck tasktict patron powers, to the piss poor AT mods that villains get, to pathatic merit amounts, its just unfair overall. Villains always get less merits per arc or tf than heroes despite the difficulty being harder and things being more frustrating. They really need to get rid of the whole merits over time metric because it simply doesnt work for balance. To add fuel to the speculation, I asked Positron at the PAX East meet-up what he thought of the intention of many villain players to go Hero or Vigilante just to access the blue market. His response was, paraphrased here, that "when the time comes to do that, they may find that they won't need to" for that particular reason, referring back to their intentions to address market shortcomings. Make of that what you will.
True enough villains can do stuff alot faster but from what I find is that most villain players are more competent than most hero players. Villains are used to dealing with harder situations which is why they can complete the stuff so fast. What I do see happening is the following, since the devs will never allow the heroes to be at a disadvantage they will have to change the merit metric to something else. When all these villains switch sides they will most likely do certain TFs and arcs at such blazing speeds its going to cut all the merit rewards by like 1/2. Just imagine an all stalker manticore TF where you no longer have to wait on mogged pps to de-mog, instead they are killed in the first 10 seconds of the fight well before they mog. Imagine the Statesman TF with a perma-mind dom. Or an all stalker team shattering the previous speed record on a KHTF. Or all brute team totally destroying Citadel or Sister Psyche TFs. And dont get me started on what masterminds would accomplish. -
Of course you know its going to get sanatized when it gets ported to scrappers. We all know this seriously what rock you been sleeping under? Castles been itching to gut this power for a while now just like with all the other so called log over due changes.
-
Learn to leverage the crits people. Its one of the main things you bring to a team once you have used AS. I pride myself on knowing I can easily line up 2 to 4 enemies with each use of Head Splitter or Golden Dragonfly.
-
I have always thought of this as a power that stalkers should have had since day one. Its a very nice addition that helps the team. The way I use it is not as an opener but more so right after the action starts on a team so they get a slight breather after the initial alpha that the brute or mastermind might take. As the others have said it only works on live targets but it can work on dead targets too but only if they rez. I see it work like this on freakshow tanks and wailers and Valkerie.
-
If they can get this working, I will send them all the pie they will ever need. This is a huge undertaking and if it works good I17 or GR this will definately bring alot of players back since they feel like they are trapped on dead servers due to having way too many alts to pay for transfers.

Quote:Nothing could make the markets any worse than what they are so I dont think thats the issue. Lvl 50s not knowing how to play is going to happen anyways. That could happen even if a person teamed all the way to level 50. So unless that person learns from the other person its not going to matter. While I do agree the insta lvl 50s was sick there is so much more they should have done in this game than the AE. Its pointless to keep nerfing it at this point. Its never going to be as popular as it was when it first came out and all the servers had at least 2 dots.Yeah, that'd be the markets even more Fu-bar than they already are, a bunch of level 50s not knowing how to play, and people put off from even touching the game because 'all people do there is farm'.
What they are fixing here is exploits. Farming, as a whole is kind of hard to stamp out, and I would say its not something that should really be wiped out. Some people do validly enjoy it, and I, and the Devs too it seems, dont mind that so much. Its when something is exploitable, such as 1-50 in a few hours, that they have to take action, and have been doing so.
The sooner that people understand that, the better.
Still, this thread doesnt dissapoint, it seems. -
Quote:I loled to this.*activate sarcasm*
This just proves, once again, the devs hate villains. When DP's were coming out. All these expoits were online AND they got a double XP weekend.
But, now that the 'villain-only' (atleast until GR) Demon Summoning is coming out. They are squashing all the exploits and no double XP weekend for them!
*de-activate sarcasm* -
Quote:I can tell you now that the folks here arent going to help or train anyone on power useage. Many of the folks are too elitist to do that. Personally I try to help all that I can when I can because I dont want any single player pulling down a team if I can help. Now if said person refuses to listen or doesnt change their build after I spent hours getting them the respec to do so then yeah they deserve a kick from the team.I'll just pop in and say my piece.
Alright I see a couple of you insinuating without saying that there is a certain "Way" to play the game. Get over yourself, we are fit to play the game however we choose. If I want to turn OFF my XP and never level, thats my issue. if I want to NEVER take speed boost, thats my issue. If I want to farm, thats my issue, if i want to Roleplay (god forbid that happen o.-) thats my issue.
Forcing your view of moral "right" is not the best way to show your viewpoint may have more value then others.
IF I play in a way that IS wrong..then thats the programming/dev teams issue to deal with (as well as support, but support best I can tell is getting swamped with so many "reports" by others trying to show they are playing right and the others wrong they might as well advertise turning in three of your sg for a badge o.-) NOT yours. Stop trying to be the police of this game and enjoy it for what it is, for in the end, save maybe Venture, Dispari, Marcian and a few others, none of the player base has any influence over the way the game goes :P
Secondly, if you run into someone who doesn't know how to play the game, how about you take the time and teach them or show them the way. For a game thats supposed to promote cooperation for the betterment of the world (or destruction) ALOT of you people seem to stay in your groups and point and laugh at those that aren't o.0 This is very similar to the "high school" mentality I am seeing spreading like Ebola in the game. I ran into a Tf that knew NOTHING about tactics and instead of getting mad, I explained the base numbers of defense and other such things to them and we worked alot better.
While I was doing this, someone "rage quit" 'cuz they should have known "how to play the game by now". Could have used that empath, but we made it through with a few deaths.
We're sinking into this festering boil of hatred for anything thats new to us and new players and it will do NOTHING but destroy us in the end faster then we may or may not be decomposing now o.0
Thats all, and of course, just my opinion.
Regards,
-C.A. -
Quote:You act like your some great movie critic telling people how they need to their arcs. People should have as many options as they want for stories. Having to redo your story just because the devs cant think of decent solution that doesnt hurt the authors should not be something you have to keep doing. They have pretty much ruined the story telling part of AE with all the nerfs. I hardly ever see any arcs worth doing at this point unless they are dev choice arcs. Yeah I agree some nerfs needed to happen but there are so many other ways they could have done this.a) If the story absolutely can't work without a specific character then the odds are that you don't even have a story. You probably have just a bunch of stuff that happened.
b) Characters like the Honoree, which are built to be fought by teams and/or are supposed to require TF-specific temp powers to fight, should not be available in the MA in the first place. At least not until we have the ability to gate arcs by actual team size. -
I say at least let us get 3 allies or make allies with no powers not count for this. Also its long over due that they add an XP rating thing to the arc so that players can know if its worth doing or not.
