Rocks of Vengeance. Totally wicked.

Quote:I still dont see it.No, but when I figured out how to beat them I did.
But note that I'm not talking about power level. I'm talking about the focus of the game. Difficulty can be tweaked and so on, but when the story puts an NPC in the starring role -- as almost all the stories have in the past year -- then it's not a game about me and my characters.
I was the one that restored Synapse's powers in the lava flooded Hollows.
I was the one that recoverd Numina's father's skull from the crazed Rulu-Shin.
I was the one that defeated the crazed nuclear threat Marshal Brass.
I was the one that forced Wade to retreat even after he gained Statesman's power.
I was the one that saved Sister Psyche from Malaise's mental assault.
In Dark Astoria...
It was my actions that occupied Mot's attention and allowed Heather to do the events in her personal story.
It was my actions that caused the events with Scirocco and Ice Mistral that in turned allowed Mu'Vorkin to strike the deal in his personal story.
It was my work wiping out the Knives of Vengeance that enabled Max to do his next task in his personal story.
If anything, the personal stories show how my actions are having consequences on the world outside of just the main "save the world from the death god" storyline. Just because I'm not RIGHT THERE doesnt mean my character had nothing to do with it. -
I must be wired backwards.
I know exactly how powerful my main is... and he's REALLY powerful. The fact that I'm facing enemies that require over a dozen people just as strong as me to defeat just impresses on me how powerful my enemies actually are and how important it is they be defeated.
And I feel damn heroic when we win. -
In the new DA content, there's a lot of new powers used by the enemies.
Black Scorpion uses Taunt judiciously... though it didnt matter as I was soloing at the time.
And the Knives of Vengeance that use Titan Weapons get Build Momentum(!).
I've always thought -range was a woefully underused mechanic/debuff. An enemy with attacks that do -range and knockback could be fun. -
Gryfalcon shows up in mission to help you fight.
Slinger tips you off on how to avoid certain obstacles during the "maze" portion of the map and debuffs the end boss.
Director 11 intercepts several ambushes headed your way with his !%$#@ trip mines off camera. -
That makes that line funny on two levels
-
I didnt realize how much I missed the old login/character creator music.
-
I've been able to read every clue and dialog thus far without getting harrassed by ambushes or other combat in DA.
Knives of Vengence are the most visually exciting group to fight I've seen to date. Dual Pistols + Titan Weapons + Dual Blades + Street Justice all going off at once makes for very frenetic combat.
Flushing out the background of some enemy groups and watching other plot threads advance outside of the DA events is fan-freaking-tastic.
Incarnates make terrible demolition experts.
I'm was disappointed the "powered up to face Incarnate" enemies from other factions were basically the same mobs with the same attacks... then I looked at Staff Melee and Beast Mastery again and didnt mind nearly as much. -
I ran Heather's arc at x8 with a few friends. Between the 3 of us we netted 5 catalysts by the end.
Go for it man. -
Yeah, the part where he said he'd rather spend points on them instead totally proves he's unable to spend money on them.
-
Did Positron voice the red guy in glasses? I swear he sounds familiar.
-
I like how they included a whole bunch of stuff thats not in Issue 22 in the official trailer, while simultaneously giving the bulk of whats actually IN Issue 22 comparitavely little screen time.

Quote:Which will make it that much more difficult to recruit for......To be fair, isn't any TF basically a WST during double XP?
A +4 TF with an Alpha slot requirement that can only be run with characters that can't take advantage of Dbl XP Weekend.
Lady Grey, Manticore... I just want a WST that will earn progress during Double XP. Not to mention something a bit less brutal my brand new 50s can run for their Notice. -
Please change the WST for March 13-19 if at all possible.
Tin Mage is such a waste for Dbl XP weekend... -
Quote:Even if there was no joke, is it that hard to understand a redname stating that I22 is getting really, really close to release to rekindle a bit of excitement? As a person not in on the joke, I find this official redname post to be misleading at best.

What else could this post honestly lead you to believe? -
Despite all my common sense and logic saying the 6th for I22... I keep refreshing the boards looking for a server downtime announcement for tomorrow...
-
I envisioned that attack as more of a T9 "psychic footstomp" style attack for a melee set. It doesnt have the range or damage or recharge of a judgement (that I've seen anyway)
Also also, pyronic judgement colored pink makes a good "Psy-fire" looking attack as well. -
-
Hopefully I can make it this time!
-
I wouldnt mind seeing Spines/Thorns adapted to a fully ranged blast set.
Or an Air/Stormy blast set.
Or an Earth/Stone blast set.
Maybe a Heavy Munitions set (rockets, grenades, bombs) or a bladed weapons ranged set (shuriken, daggers and such) -

Quote:Yes.So basically for the people that it is supposed to be challenging for it isn't but yet it is still considered "challenging" such that DA has to get clobbered because it isn't "challenging" even though solo you won't have rolling judgements and destinies.
Even if the devs removed the minimum team size from the iTrials, you cannot solo them. Even the base level easiest trials contain mechanics and content harder than solo content. As easy as the trials can be...you do NOTHING solo like iTrial content.
You will not solo a 54 AV that will hit you with a unresistable hold every 30 seconds just for having her aggro.
You will not solo the prisoner phase.
You will not solo a second 54 AV with the same hold with respawning groups of 54 boss class mobs that if left alone will punch through capped defense and resistance.
You will not solo both of them with the same boss mobs and defeat them within 10 seconds of each other.
And even if it were possible, you wont do it within the time limit.
The BAF is easy because the league MAKES it easy. When solo content reaches those levels of difficulty, then you can get the rewards you deserve. -
Quote:Good article, but it seems the devs have learned the importance of rewards for everyone but maxed, dedicated Incarnates. At +3 with amped up rewards, it's just going to be an Emp farm for the folks who already have their T4's.
I've run the other trials multiple times already earning the same salvage and merits DD supposedly gives me faster... but its difficulty is such that I no longer need those rewards to succeed. Rewardwise, I have zero motivation to play the improved trials where the devs learned from player feedback.
The point of an endgame treadmill is to keep upping the rewards with the challenge. I havent gotten anything better than what I can get from a BAF or Lambda since the trials started... just more of the same threads and salvage and merits while the challenge keeps ramping up. -
I'm really liking my TW/SR brute.
Defenisive Sweep stacks too good with /SR. And I can focus on ranged/AoE def bonuses in sets without worrying so much for melee def. Those slots can go for other bonuses.
