Quote:I agree with this line of thinking. The people that are going to want to strictly farm are not going to be the people lining up to join normal groups.Personally, I don't care to team with the sort of players who would rather be farming. They're welcome to it. And when they get bored in a week (because they "beat the game") and move on to the next new shiny, I'll still be here.
I still have yet to see a reason given other that "I don't like it" or "It slightly inconveniences me" -
Quote:I can see that as being annoying. Wouldn't a solution to that be some sort of tag that shows what percentage of total badges the AE badges make up for a player? That would show you the people that spend all their time in AE as opposed to more "accepted" ways of playing. I can see you wanting to avoid a player that is level 50 and only has 3 exploration badgesIt also fills the game with completely inexperience 50's who can do a fair bit to mess up a lot of peoples enjoyment when trying to find teams. I can only deal with 'whats an IO' from a 50 so often in a day.

I don't think I have seen this answered, so if someone could explain it to me, I would appreciate it.
What harm do the "boss farms" cause to the non-farming community? The only thing I can think of is that it throws the economic system out of whack because you have more people looking for the same IO sets. Other than that I am drawing a blank. And, if that is the case, it really isn't an argument that can be made by the people on here crying about the sanctity of canon story arcs. The most vocal people on this thread have said they do play CoX for the stories, not "collecting 50's", so how much stuff costs or how many other "uber characters" are out there shouldn't matter if all they care about is story content).
My question is this. If it doesn't affect you in some tangible way, why should you (or the devs) care if people rip through the XP at unheard of rates? If that is how they choose to enjoy the game, then so be it. I just got my 45 (or 48, I forget) month Vet badge and have tons of alts. Only 1 50. I enjoy seeing what the AT's can do. Am I some horrible monster because I was using the AE farms to see what the potential of an AT was to see if it is one I would want to run through the entire game?
Thanks, and also, try out my story arc. It is full of custom critters (not a farm. Multiple, story-driven missions), but I still think it is pretty well done. -
I was wondering how I get the contacts to actually refer, by name, to the person doing the mission. Also, how do I add color (like when referencing EB's and AV's)?
-
I am trying to make it so the spawns throughout the mission maps have minions, lieutenants, and the occasional boss. How do I do this. When I have it set up for Mission objectives of Defeat a Boss as well as Rescue a Captive I get little groups of 3-4 minions and lts.'s through the map and then in the final cave I get a room full of lts' minions, and the EB I want in there. No bosses anywhere. I also had "additional objectives" as patrol and ambush (after the rescue). I changed one of the settings, and got no bosses in the normal map, but the final room was full of them. Made it impossible.
Does the kind of map it is affect this? How can I make the mission so there are sporadic bosses before any of the defined objectives?
Any help would be great. Thanks. -
Cool. Thanks for the response. I figured there was nothing preventing the use of these characters. Any appearence by the names within other mediums (comics for example) would just be their version. You can make a character called Thor, but couldn't have him resemble his superhero version that Marvel uses. I will deffinately get going on making the arc. Will need to do a bunch of other arcs to get the tickets for the costumes though
-
First a couple bits of info. I am thinking of doing an arc revolving around the premise that an experiment in virtual reality technology being done by some tech group or another (not sure which) has gone awry and caused the characters from antiquity to come to life and generally cause trouble for everyone they encounter. Missions would include rescue missions (Helen of Troy), find the object (Golden Fleece), Elite Boss Battles (Paris, Aeneas, Menelaus, Minatoaur, Cyclops, etc), and Arch-Villain/Hero battles (Agamemmnon, Odysseus, Hector, Achilles).
First question. Does this sound like anything people would be interested in running through, provided I do a servicable job putting it together?
Second question. Would I run into any kind of copyright or trademark issues? I wouldn't think so with the literature being thousands of years old, but you never know.
Third question. I can't seem to access the Cimerora costumes (or togas for that matter). Are they not available within MA until you have access in game? Do they need to be purchased with tickets? I would love to have the costumes thematically accurate, but suppose I could say the characters adapted to modern times (or even better, that their abilities from the poems manifested themselves in different ways. I.E. Odysseus was the spinner of tales so it might make sense to have him be a Illusion controller. )
Any thoughts or suggestions are certainly welcome. I really want this to come out well. -
I wasn't concerned with the survivability of the set. I was speaking to one of the reposnses that suggested using PSW after mass hypnosis made MH useless.
-
Isn't the cone 90 degrees though. I know when I use I hit pretty much anything in front of me.
-
Couldn't you just Mass Hypnosis, Terrify, then PSW? You put them to sleep, then hit them with the damage and fear of Terrify so at best they get off a single shot and then you slam them with PSW.
Granted, I have no experience with PSW, but it sounds like it would work. You could even through in Psychic Scream for good measure. -
I just made a Mind/Psi and really like it so far. As I learned from another post, they didn't increase the damage of the powers in the primaries as they did with the secondaries, but the damage still went up as a result of the base damage modifiers being increased for melee and ranged attacks.
-
Thanks again. I guess I wasn't really sure how changing the melee and ranged damage modifier would affect it. Pretty straightforward actually, not sure why I didn't get my head around it.
-
Thanks for the quick responses. They both explain the changes pretty well. I guess since I really like Mind, I was being a little selfish wanting levitate to be stronger
Though, now I just use telekinetic thrust, which is just too cool, IMO.
-
I was just wondering if anyone else has voiced this "concern" (the other posts relating to the new Dom are pretty lengthy and it is easy to miss something). Since the idea of the change was to make the Dominator more viable when not under Domination they took away the damage portion of the inherent and increased the damage of the secondary powers. Why didn't they increase the damage of the primaries as well? Not talking anything significant, just to make them more worthwhile.

I have a level 38 WM/SD and I really like it. I had been playing on the 4th difficulty setting and doing pretty well. The defense and resistance seems good enough for me. Yeah, I likely get hit more often than the sturdier brutes but with all the knockdown/up and AoE (most importantly crowd control and shield charge which do good damage and knockdown as well) I find it pretty easy going.
Just started putting IO's in him and have a couple 5 piece sets of crushing impact, a couple 5 piece sets of scirocco's dervish and I think something in one of my shields and he is starting to perform very well with all the extra accuracy and recharge. -
Yeah, I haven't seen many threads dealing specifically with IO's either. My WM/SD brute is 36 right now and I just started doing the IO's. i have a couple complete sets of Crushing Impact and I think scirocco's dervish in a couple PbAOE powers as well.
My issue was I never really understood how it they worked. When I saw the bonuses of 1.5% Def or Reisitance or whatever I thought it increased by that (i.e. a base of 15% would go to 15.23% (15 x 1.015) rather than how it really works (15 + 1.5 = 16.5%). Pretty big difference. I wish I realized this earlierGood Lord, it is expensive though

Thanks everyone for all the feedback. It is appreciated.

Normally around 10 PM EST or so. Out of curiousity, how long does this TF normally take?
-
Toon name is Obsidian Smash. I am not even sure what my global handle is at this point. I think I changed it
And any help would be appreciated. I really want those costume pieces.
-
Was all excited to finally be able to get to Cimerora in hopes of getting myself a spiffy set of Roman costume pieces (to let my evil gladiator finally shine in all his mace and shield smashing glory). Find out you need to do the task force to get it.
Are there better times than others to catch people looking to do it? Is it very difficult (compared to other TF's)? Anyone looking to do it? Currently level 36. -
I thought the devs had come out and flatly stated that whether you have your weapon drawn or not, the time from click to execution of a power was the same. Wouldn't that mean re-draw has zero effect?
-
Yeah, I had thought that the whole redraw thing had been debunked, as it were. Thanks for clarifying that.
-
How much should I look to spend to get decent, yet cheaper, IO sets for my WM/SD brute? I have never really got into that aspect of the game, but want to. I have about 17 million or so to spend. Also, do people typically buy the receipes and make them themselves or just buy the completed enhancments? Thanks.

My WM/SD brute is about to hit 34 (one more to shield charge
). I have the same endurance issues. I have one end reducer in each attack and am likely going to put another in each of my more often used single target attacks. That being said, I love the way the set works. As Buddahsmash points out, knocking things up or down a majority of the time really helps. I have kind of the evil gladiator thing going on, so that is kind of cool as well. Really want to get those Roman armor pieces though. Either way, I don't think I see many of either type of Brute out there, but seeing that it works well for me, i like it.

When we are talking about +3% DEF, does the game calculate it as current defense times 1.03 or base plus 3%?
