  1. Ah, yes, I did apply the code. But I didn't wait two hours to tag in, more like ten minutes. I'll see if it's still not done by tonight when I get home.

    Thanks Zek,
    -Esch
  2. Ok, so I bought the damn thing... WHERE are the options listed??
  3. Rial, I want to thank you for Wednesday night. It was a pleasure to speak with you, audition, and get some insight into the characters that only you as the author of this story have.

This is a tremendously cool project and I look forward to seeing it brought to life!

  4. Makes me wish that Spackle and I had actually joined LoneSTAR when we moved to Texas... but alas, I've since moved BACK to Seattle and am therefore no longer qualified... sigh.

Excellent work as always Mr. Doug. (I Still get a chuckle over your Serra Angel in Portal Corps prank pic back when wings were still "coming soon™)
  5. Uh wow.... I just stumbled across this thread... I've done some voice work in the past for a few folks. I'm currently the "Voice of Husky Hockey" in Seattle - one of those jobs that nobody ever gets paid for but is fun to do and makes people smile. I'm at work right now (I'm a school teacher during the week) I'd love to try out and will take a closer look at the thread when I get home.

Already have and use Teamspeak and have a decent mike as well.

    But then I'm biased...
  7. Currently Exiled to Jefferson TX. Planning on coming as I've signed up both myself and my wife (Who's main character IS a native Texan. )

On the other hand, PvE environments are generally static, and not because they have to be, but because game designers claim they *must* be: that an evolving PvE environment creates all sorts of problems that would upset or unbalance the game. Can't have PvE players alterning the environment, because a constantly shifting backdrop to PvE would wreck PvE.

    [/ QUOTE ]
I don't really know any developers who believe that. We look at games like Prince of Persia: Sands of Time, God of War or Shadow of the Colossus and the innovative use of terrain involved there and think "How can we get things such as that into our game?"

    [/ QUOTE ]

You'd have to do some pretty hefty re-writing of the game engine to do most of that stuff...
  9. I do not like PvP. I have tried it solo, and in teams. While I think it might be fun on occasion, I personally just do not care for it.

Now, grabbling a bunch of heroes and hitting RV to play a massive Players vs. the Environment? I find that enjoyable from both sides.

    Cryptic article.

Actually, I'm wondering if at some point in the future the "City Of" Heroes will mysteriously appear in the Marvel Universe...
  11. Superspeed. But I miss the sound...
  12. But but... who will I pester about adding an abandoned amusement park mission / show off new coasters to???

Sniff... I'm a sad bug now...
  13. The "Alien" face seems to be missing from any of the female head types... I wouldn't mind so much, but I was trying to remake a character from my main server to another and couldn't get her to look the same.
  14. The "Alien" face seems to be missing from the female "Masks with hair" option, allthough I HAVE a female with that face and that option. When I go to ICON, my character appears to have the default face in the "costume screen" but the alien face in the actual game. I do hope that option is not SUPPOSED to be missing... I like my alien faced girls!

The problem for most of us is that we honestly don't want it bad enough to do the work needed to achieve it. Other things in life are more important to us than learning how to draw - so we do those things instead of drawing.

But boy, oh boy - are we impressed with those of you who DO draw.

Figured Cuppa and others might get a kick out of a similar story. Back in 2001, there were two "Roller Coaster Simulation / Designers" that came out. One of them, called NoLimits was essentially a 3D CAD program for Roller Coasters. Now, I had NO experience with CAD, the program had a VERY steep learning curve, and I never did get "good" enough at it to really be a competant designer. Why? Well, to be honest, I simply did not have the combination of time and desire to get that good... but I sure enjoyed watching OTHER people create amazing coaster designs.

What I did find was that now when I go to a park and see a new coaster, I have a new level of appreciation for the amount of design work that goes into making these rides... because I've at least attempted to do it myself.

I just sent a PM to cuppa asking if purposefully giving a player debt is considered griefing. Will update when she gets back to me

    [/ QUOTE ]

    The Devs say - No.

Ultimately PVE mobs in a PVP zones are hazards of a PVP zone. Players do have control (and options) that will prevent them from being victims of the TP Foe tactic.

Regarding being held, immobilized, slept and then being teleported into a PVE mob: griefing? No.

If a player uses TP Foe and teleports another player into a mob, so that their health is reduced, and then finishes them off with a killing shot….griefing? No.

If a player intentionally uses a knockback power (or Repel or Dispersion Bubble) on another player from the top of the roof to the street below where there happens to be a PVE mob, and the player’s presence draws mob aggro and dies…should the player who knocked back the target player off that roof be actioned for griefing? No.

    [/ QUOTE ]

In other words, act like a complete and utter [censored] as long as you don't violate the language rules. Go ahead and rack up kills on the same person over and over... make them reach their debt cap WE DON'T GIVE A DAMN.

This is why I don't PvP... there is no honor in it. For those of you who enjoy pulling the legs off ants, you've just been told by God himself that it's not only OK, it's ENCOURAGED.

    Lovely...

-that Dr. Vahzilok is named after George Vasilakos, owner of Eden Studios (for whom I co-wrote several RPG books).

    Yes, I knew this

-that the name Rikti came from a conversation where I said "Rikki Tikki Tavi is a cool name. How can we get that into the game?"

Knew that one too... LOVE that little show.

-that the name "Cryptic Studios" was inspired in part by the first RPG book I co-authored, "Cryptozoology."

    Didn't know this one.

-that Shane Hensely, a current designer, created Deadlands.

Ya, knew that. Played that once, was kinda fun.

-that Thomas Foss created a minis game Pirates!

    Nope.

-that Statesman was a character created in several pen and paper super hero RPG's over a decade ago. Many former character names have found their way into the game.

So, did you use a nerf bat in those games too?

Making an absolute statement like "Mayhem Missions are versus Longbow" based on a single screen shot is a stretch, to say the least.

From that screen shot, the most you can realistically say is that "IF that is a shot of a Mayhem Mission, then SOME of them will have Longbow in them."

    [/ QUOTE ]

QFT - that is just an example of a group that might be in a Mayhem Mish.

Anyway, most of the mayhem missions will be in Oranbega...

IF we were to ever add a way to get Isolator post-Tutorial, it would most likely be incredibly hard to get. Annoyingly hard. Irritatingly hard. There-would-be-a-zillion-people-asking-to-make-it-easier hard.

But IF we were to add it, it would be available nonetheless.

    A fond farewell

    [ QUOTE ]
I am not spying on you guys, I really am on vacation - but I had to stop by and wish a fond farewell to both Arctic and Alexa.

Arctic - We were a dynamic duo indeed! Thank you so much for all your great work, all the laughs, and most of all - your friendship. I know even though you may be retiring your tights, you will always be willing to join the frey in case of extreme villainy.

Alexa - Heroes and Villains must some times work together to combat even greater threats. My villainous sister-in-arms - you will be missed. Your sharp wit, hearty laughter, and almost instinctive wisdom and knowledge of community will serve you well in your future endeavors and delight your future co-workers as you have delighted all of us here in the "City of..." Best of luck.

Much love and thanks to you both.

I echo your thoughts and say... YOU'D BETTER BE RIDING A ROLLERCOASTER OR TWO ON THIS HERE VACAITON!!!

  25. Shadow maul misses a rediculous number of times vs. any enemy that has defense to neg energy attacks - such as most of the CoT and many of the Tsoo. BUT it does ok vs. most other enemies. At least in my experience as a level 29 brute.

Oh, and yeah, Castle is the bomb, but I gotta give mucho props to Cuppa, cause she and I traded a handful of PMs about Roller Coasters - even when I'm SURE she had more important game related stuff to be doing.
