I'm planning on putting it in my ss/dark with about 70% global acc and a fully slotted rage. I can ed cap end/heal with both procs.
My worry was that it would work as someone mentioned and perform the endurance boost on the target and not me. I will just have to try it when I hit 50 -
I just made another build, worked in CoF, more end managment to compensate, tough still has the same slotting though. I can't see using a slot for 2-3 more sm/leth resistance. I'm on a road trip until Saturday atm so I'll try to get my brother to post the build.
-
Quote:What is the goal of this build? You have Weave and the two +Def uniques, but it doesn't look like you're building toward a particular type of defense. If you are trying for defense of some type (positional or typed, for instance) you could do a lot more with this build than have here. If that's not a primary goal, honestly, I'd save that GA +Def for a build that you're trying to soft-cap.
Other issues:
Death Shroud and Dark Regen are underslotted for Accuracy--IME it's important to get DR's acc higher than a normal attack since having it miss can have dire consequences.
The Hami-O's in CoD and Weave aren't doing a thing for you. Save yourself some infamy and replace the Cytos with a LotG Def/End/Rchg.
Tough and Ob Shield are underslotted. If you don't care about Psi resist you can get away with it for Ob Shield, but Tough needs at least another slot. I really don't see the point in slotting Hami-O's if they do less for you than common IOs or a cheap set.
Personally, I think either Cloak of Fear or Op Gloom would be a heck of a lot more useful than Soul Transfer. Unless you're really set on ST, I'd recommend dropping it for one of the mez auras.
Thank you for your response, I appreciate it.
With the myriad of +defense villainside I was trying to get enough where I would be softcaped with a veat or a /cold. I had the GA proc just sitting on a toon for the last 2 months, so I'm using it on this particular alt for the time being.
My accuracy should be fine with the +tohit from rage and running around 70% +acc. Unless I am missing something.
I already own the all the Hami-Os, the ones in the +def toggles are there to squeeze a litttle more recovery and defense. The resistance based Hami-Os offer me 66% endu reduction, and 40% resistance for 2 slots, if you have a way to get that from IO's please point me to it.
I have a hard time justifiying op gloom for the fact that minions only will survive very shortly in melee anyway. I would love to fit CoF in, its endu cost is going to be tough to overcome on an already endu heavy toon. -
I'm running a ss/dark up to 50 right now, I have a Panacea i'm waiting to drop into him at 47. If I put it in health it has a 20% chance every 10s to grant the +endu. If I put it in dark regeneration will it work like the theft of essence proc and grant a chance for every enemy hit? I have Dark Regen on a 11s recharge so it could, in theroy have 10 chances to proc every 11 seconds. I know this is "wasting" the heal portion but I'm not worried about wasting the heal portion on a /dark brute.
-
All my alts are conceptually powerful.
-
I just leveled a ss/dark brute up to 35. I really enjoy it. I plan on using this toon mostly for teaming and some soloing. My goal isn't to complete the ridiculously hard solo challenges, I have a dm/shield for that. Here is my build. Any suggestions or improvements would be welcome. I already had the PVP IO's and most of the other IO's, except 4 of the purple sets which currently have bids out.

I just wonder how people know that they are buying from a marketeer and not just a "normal" player listing an item.
-
I would say claws/ss with shield/elec/dark, put the force feedback proc in shockwave or footstomp it typically adds +30% rech for cheap, just remember with shockwave not to use it before the 5 second timer drops or else it's wasted.
-
Tweaked the build a bit, added hasten, had one too many lotg +rech, got you more regen. If you don't like the kismet put a LOTG in phalanx and a pure def IO in vengance. You shouldn't need the -tohit that ToF has, one other attack will essentially do the same thing.
IMO this build will perform better, my best advice is jump over to the test server try out the differn't builds and use the one you prefer on live server. If you still prefer yours, it's your toon not mine. Enjoy.

Heres a build I put together in about 5 minutes. I used all your power choices (even though I don't agree with some) except for ToF, a soft-capped toon shouldn't need a control power. You're short 3 def to aoe which I doubt will be noticed, and your DDR is better so overall you should have better defenses.

Quote:Umbral is right. For the amount of money you spent on that build you could have gotten a lot more out of it.I missed the "can be overcome with..." statement. If it is squishy out of the box well then okay.
Umbral,
I guess I need to be enlightened. The only number you could be talking about in my powers are the damage at 85%ish. My slots are at lvl 35, so I lose some there. The rest is made up in my damage buffs. My global acc/to hit is good and my recharge is also good.
I know I am giving up some for the soft cap defense, but you make it sound like I gimped myself.
I really don't understand. Maybe post a build so I can see what your talking about. Frankly this build seems beastly to me.
Dm/Shield can be beastly with SO's and proper inspiration use. I'll take a look at improving your build in a bit.
And to clarify, when I said shields was squishy I meant with SO's, which is all the OP can afford. This can easily be overcome with good inspiration usage and paying attention to combat attributes, my fire/shield with just SO's was soloing set for 6 as soon as I got FSC. -
I have very little knowlegde about PvP.
I am using a long retired Spines/Regen scrapper to build as a PvPer. I'm trying to squeeze in sj/ss, phase shift, focused accuracy, and all the powers from the secondary except revive. Is Quills worth it to smack stalkers? What other powers would you reccomend from the primary? Is there any other tips or ideas that could be offered on building a successful spines/regen PvPer? -
Wrong, the numbers are exactly the same, there is a taunt aura in evasion. It also differs from the scrapper set in the order you get your powers, you get aoe defense earlier and quickness comes later.
-
I have mine 6-slotted with Gaussians. The only reason I can get away with this is that I have the kismet +6 to hit IO and run at +66% accuracy from set bonuses, which caps my to-hit with Soul Drain against +4s. If I wasn't running such a high accuracy build I would go with obliteration as well.
-
In response to the claims about defense being overpowered.
The dev's recently buffed typed defense. They also gave us another +3% defense to all IO. Showing that maybe they don't see it that way.
I would wait until we see the new end game content before we call any amount of defense overpowered.
I am typically buffed way past the soft-cap on teams even without any set bonuses or defense, it may not be set bonuses as much as how defense works in this game.
It typically takes a lot of time and infamy/influence to soft-cap a squishy or non-defense based character, which is something I spent and spend a lot of time trying to achieve on multiple characters.
Anyone that has played a toon softcapped with low or without DDR knows that with as many defense debuffing powers in the game that 45% disappears fast.
I think this view stems from people seeing toons that can run farms maps that don't debuff DDR. Also watching people solo one to a few very hard targets (AVs or GMs) that will not be able drop unprotected defense. -
Vengance cast by nemesis doesn't seem to grant aoe defense, I noticed this on my ss/shield when farming the platform
-
Quote:I understand it was not a personal attack. From the direction some threads go this one remained particularly non-volatile.
And again, none of this is meant as an attack on you; the idea simply had the potential for abuse, implemented as suggested. Bringing it here and offering it up for critique was the best way to have any potential problems identified.
I see the problems now with my system. If the negatives outweight the benefits is a question no one could really answer unless it was implemented. Not that I'm crying for it to actually be implemented. It was just an idea that clearly had more underlying issues than what I saw when I suggested it. -
Yes, they hurt a lot.
Even on my softcapped dm/shield/soul brute I can get eaten alive fairly quickly against large groups. The only reason I stay alive is siphon life and the -tohit in Dark Oblit. Arachnos, Longbow and Vanguard Rouges are the three groups I tend to have the most trouble with on melee toons. -
Quote:From your previous post you and I approach the game very differntly. I would still IO out multiple toons for the convienence.the fact that you just said 1. goes directly to the heart of the matter of why I think this is a bad idea.
Mailing system? Mind copying a link to what this is? I had not caught any wind of a mailing system. If it is what I think it might be your point on moving IO's would be very vaild.
The point of my change is when I go from my leveling build to my "uber" build I tend to delete a lot of mid-level IOs, when I get bored of a toon I strip the "really valuable" IO's and delete the toon with a lot mid-priced IO's (crushing impacts, ToD sets, etc.). The true point of this was never to be able to IO out multiple toons with the same IO's. I simply wanted to be able to put those "wasted" IO's back onto the market for someone else. I can already move my extremely valuable stuff off with my vet-specs/respecs. -
Quote:I run the same chain on my f/sd/bl and have had the same expierence and I agree with the second statement. Trying to make up the 3.75 def to all is going to hurt your overall performance much more than not having gfs.Agree with the above assessments. If you want some real-world testimony, my Fire/SD/Blaze using Scorch > Incin > Scorch > Cremate could solo pylons without Aid Self; I don't think I was ever in danger of dying, unless the pylon got lucky and hit me 3 times in a row.
You do have to chose between GFS and Phalanx. Dropping Phalanx is really not a good idea, since it's equal to three 3.75 def bonuses and you will pay through the nose in slot efficiency to softcap without it. -
Quote:Two points.
1) Is this a correct interpretation of your position? "Recipes are being deleted now because they're not worth selling, so we're going to add a source of supply and somehow they WILL be worth selling." If that's not right, explain to me how I'm misinterpreting it.
2) Every time you craft a level 50 Crushing Impact you destroy 490,000 inf or thereabouts. If you get rid of thirty, level 50, crafted IO's when you respec, and I know that's a high number, you've destroyed 15 million inf in crafting costs. That could add up, in theory. It's at least a start at sinking inf.
1. No, my position is that I have 30-40 valuable IO sets on multiple toons that are not worth pulling off due to all my respecs being burned, and the high cost of respec recipes.
2. Everytime you sell said Crushing impact you will destroy 10% of whatever you sold it for. By me the respecer being able to put that back onto the market, either myself to make inf or "Arcana" designed system where that will be sold by a bot or the game etc. and then all proceeds destroyed. This will increase supply of all IO's, especially the mid-level ones I tend to just get rid. I don't care about exemplaring and its not fiscally responsible to burn respecs to sell a lvl 33 crushing impact for 3 million infamy.
