No GFS/Aid Self for bosses/AVes or less bonuses/AoE carnage for my Fire/SD
Well don't take GFS. You can run Incinerate/Scorch/Cremate/Scorch which is a good attack chain and is better on the end bar too. It is not the best attack chain but it will solo AVs.

The best dps chain of Incin>GFS>Cremate is ~189 dps.
Incinerate needs 146%
GFS needs 237%

And the second highest dps chain of Incin>GFS>Cremate>Firesword is ~180 dps.
Incinerate needs 72%
GFS needs 133%
Cremate needs 24%
FS needs 0%
Losing GFS is certainly far from crippling when it comes to AV soloing. I tried a build without it, and it worked fine, but I missed the burst damage of GFS when doing anything but AV soloing.
edit: One thing I forgot to mention; if you stick the Hecatomb damage proc in Scorch for the Incin>Scorch>Cremate>Scorch chain, you almost close the gap between it and the other chain options dps due to the proc having two chances to fire within the chain. The preference to have GFS for burst damage purposes still remains, of course.
Thanks for that, especially the DPS numbers and comment about the proc, and yea, GFS would definitely be nice on bosses and stuff where burst is handy too.
It might be easier just for you guys to rip up my build idea and me to rebuild it.
For now I'm going to steer clear of purples and PvP IOs definitely and try and keep the lotgs to a minimum since I won't have a bread winner until this toon is done blue side.
Unless I'm mistaken I have to choose between GFS and Phalanx.

You do have to chose between GFS and Phalanx. Dropping Phalanx is really not a good idea, since it's equal to three 3.75 def bonuses and you will pay through the nose in slot efficiency to softcap without it.

A little build optimization. 5% more recharge, more regen/hitpoints. I grabbed slots from fire blast (overslotted IMO) to round out true grit, which will add a significant amount of hitpoints into your build. BTW, note that Mid's currently has an error which doesn't account for the +3.75% ranged defense bonus from Phalanx Fighting, and hence you were overslotted in ranged defense as well.

I have a lot of power gear. Both the Miracle and Numina uniques and the end proc from one of the end mod sets (can't remember the name). I don't ever run out of power.

I have been loving my Fire/SD and I thought when I made it / while I was leveling it that it would be the best of both worlds as far as AVs/AV soloing and farming went, but as I'm trying to throw together a build for that it seems very tight.
I realize that my farming build will not have aidself, and I'm not certain if I will have the end to carry just greens if I'm soloing AVs with atleast insps.
But as far as my ST attack chain squeezing in GFS to my farm build forces me to drop phalanx and try and squeeze more def out of my powers instead of recov/hp/rech
Any suggestions other than duel build for now? (not the richest atm)
