Best place for Panacea Proc?

I'm running a ss/dark up to 50 right now, I have a Panacea i'm waiting to drop into him at 47. If I put it in health it has a 20% chance every 10s to grant the +endu. If I put it in dark regeneration will it work like the theft of essence proc and grant a chance for every enemy hit? I have Dark Regen on a 11s recharge so it could, in theroy have 10 chances to proc every 11 seconds. I know this is "wasting" the heal portion but I'm not worried about wasting the heal portion on a /dark brute.

While I've never had a chance to test this personally, I believe it SHOULD function like the Theft of Essence proc, and if so, would give you a chance to gain endurance for every target hit by Dark Regen. A Theft of Essence proc in it can turn it from a prohibitively expensive heal to a net endurance gain with enough targets and some luck; with both procs, the results could be delicious. Whether or not you can reasonably afford to slot an extra proc in Dark Regen instead of an actual enhancement for some variation of recharge/accuracy/end redux/healing is up to you.

Rule number six of an empathy defender is NEVER underestimate a blaster's ability to die. I don't care if he has CM, Fort, both RAs, bubbles (both FF and Sonic), and is fighting next to a Storm defender with hurricane on. If there is a way to die in that situation, the blaster will find it.

It shouldn't. The Theft of Essence proc gives you the endurance, not the enemies. The Panacea proc should work the same way.

The Theft of Essence proc is intended to go into an attack, and is therefore keyed to fire on the caster. It depends on whether Panacea says "gives End to target" or "Gives End to self". If it says "to target", it will give the End to enemies, not you.

I'm planning on putting it in my ss/dark with about 70% global acc and a fully slotted rage. I can ed cap end/heal with both procs.

My worry was that it would work as someone mentioned and perform the endurance boost on the target and not me. I will just have to try it when I hit 50

I suggest you try it on the test server. City of Data info for Panacea, Theft of Essence, and Performance Shifter. They all have Caster listed as the target. Theft effects self, while Panacea and Performance Shifter affect the Target. I have heard that Performance Shifter works wrong, in that it gives END to the target when used in AoE attacks. That leads me to believe that Panacea won't work like you want it to.

Goodbye and thanks for all the fish.
I've moved on to Diablo 3, TopDoc-1304

Performance Shifter doesn't work wrong, but it does give end to the target. It's meant to add an extra bonus to targets of Accelerate Metabolism, Speed Boost, and the like. Unfortunately, this also means that it gives End to the target of attacks, if placed in one.

Please note that I didn't say that it does give End to the enemy, but that I don't know, and was telling you how to check.

Actually the Red Tomax enhancement listings ALWAYS say the target is the caster for procs, this is because the caster is technically the target of the enhancement. The detailed information on the right where it actually tells you who it actually affects. As you say the Panacea proc says it affects the "Target" so it shouldn't heal you if you put it in Dark Regen.

Had it for a long time on my Scrapper, in the end it doesn't really make that big of a difference. The most siginifcant portion of it is the +end chance, its basically like a slightly weaker performance shifter, and in a character could add more end gain.

If you already don't have end troubles tho, sell it for lots of cash or save your money, cause you could get more survivability or slot usefulness elsewhere i'd think.
