For the life of me I can't understand why Corruptors weren't made to be (De)Buff/Melee instead of being Bizzaro world Defenders...

Dark Miasma is playing the game on easy mode. I don't think a bad combo with dark exists in the game.
Tar Patch will help with the badguys running out of debuff range.
Slot Darkest Night and Fearsome Stare with some End Reductions until you get ready to use IOs -

Kaaa Ching! Three movies means more merchandise and more box office revenue. Then you have the Blu Ray for each and eventually the Box set etc etc.
It's a win for everyone except the actors that got paid for one film and the movie goers that will shell out an average of $35 to see three movies instead of $12.

A change such as BoTZ had a backlash because many players slot for defense bonuses and the change was a reduction. If they would remove bonuses like debt protection and replace it with something a little more worthwhile I doubt too many players would complain because the bonus is small (and debt isn't harsh) and it eventually becomes obsolete. I hate to sound like I'm trashing the recipes but who really needs 1% Debt Protection, or maybe I'm missing something?
I'd also like to see them get rid of all recipe levels that aren't 0s and 5s (10,14,20,25 etc). Buying, selling, equipping and exemping would be so much easier. -
Dark/Dark Controller has insane survivability although the damage may not be up there with some other Controller sets. I'd suspect Fire/Dark would give similar survivability with more damage.

For the most part the global channels as always is the best way to find out what's going on.
Lately I've been spending more time on Virtue, don't get me wrong, I still love Victory and think it has the best community in CoX but I have so many alts that need so much work and Virtue gives the best opportunity for teamage. -
There is so much reworking that should/could go into these IO sets.
There are attributes that are lacking in some sets such as range increase and with a category like Range damage that has TEN normal sets.
Sets such as TAoE and Slow movement lack inherent recharge.
TAoE only has THREE regular choices. Yes this is something I just can not and will not ever get over. I'm literally so sick of purchasing and using Posi's blasts that I stopped leveling my Water/Ice Corruptor at level 40.
Some set bonuses are obsolete IMO such as Debt protection and/or are so insignificant they only stack well with very few sets such as Psionic defense.
IMO before they create new recipes they need to address some issues with existing ones. Unless of course they do not think there are any issues, which is what I suspect... -
The most evil villain in CoX is which ever Dev or group of Devs thinks it's a good idea to just have 3 regular TAoE recipe sets...

To the OP, you should post your build for review. I'm not sure what your numbers on the toon are, but remember you have an auto -To Hit power (-25% base) in your arsenal.
IMO -To Hit is just as good as defense, especially on a toon that has no defense debuff resistance. At least that's the philosophy I use on my dozens of support toons and one Staff/Energy Aura Brute. -

as far as the OP question goes:
I tend not to exemplar because I have so many toons and it's easier (and cheaper) to purchase level 50 enhancements as opposed to level 25,30,35s and I don't like loosing my set bonuses. I also found that with the Incarnate system many of the accolades are insignificant for my toons so i don't even bother with them anymore.
The other reason I do not like using Oro is that it puts you in TF mode. I used to HATE HATE HATE being in the middle of flashbacks only to see a "Forming XYZ send tell to @thistoon" and being bummed out that I'd have to quit in order to join or switch to another toon that may not need said TF/SF. -
I wouldn't want to 6 slot all my power but I for one would LOVE to be able to 6 slot my last power.

Badguys don't like being in the area of traps debuffs, caltrops, acid mortar and Posion trap will all send them running. I understand when it's a LT, minion or even boss level, but AVs should not run like they do, they are supposed to be tough, they aren't supposed to be cowards...

Melee/Support is what Corruptors should have been IMO instead of the Bizzaro world Defenders they are now...

I don't know what I was thinking when I thought there wouldn't be a lot of Water/Storms around. Add me to that list as I have way too many Darks, Rads and Kins. Once NA comes out I'll be rolling a WB/NA corr.

I moved a toon over to Virtue over the weekend. At first I was reluctant because the server is known for RPing which I don't do but I must say I was thoroughly impressed with the quality of players and teamage. So much so that I plan to roll a Water Blast toon tomorrow on Virtue.

Here is my old build. My current build is on my PC at home.
I added LoTG in Scorpion Shield, 3 slots including 7.5 recharge.
Dropped one slot from Hasten and added it to Trip Mine.
In Trip Mine I 5 slotted Armageddon and got rid of the Procs due to the upcoming proc changes (Hadn't decided to retire him then).
I also 5 slotted Ragnarok in Overcharge
