Does my trapper need to die?

I had the most frustrating experience in the summer blockbuster event tonight. Playing my traps/dp fender, every time I laid more than one debuffing trap, the AVs started running around like idiots. Sylvia painted every bit of the warehouse floor. Ted did the same. Gotterdammerung ran to the opposite end of the arena and back again. And almost every time, the running started as I knelt to put down an Acid Mortar.

Is this just part of playing a trapper? Do hard targets really run all over creation? I've played this character to level 37, but a lot of that has been in bigger teams/on TFs where, if there were runners, they weren't runners who regenerated 5% of their health every 10 seconds (freakin' Sylvia...) and made life miserable for the entire team, and it certainly didn't feel like I was actively making things harder for everybody around me. And that's what it felt like tonight. I was swearing by the time we were done that I would just delete the character, but I don't want to act in haste.

Is there any hope, or am I just going to see more of the same? Was *I* doing something wrong? I've played through this even dozens of times, on plenty of other characters with debuffs (rad, kin, time, etc.), and have never seen this kind of moronic AI behavior that seemed to trigger directly from something I did.

Any input would be much appreciated.

Check this.

As a Defender its worth it for you to take and slot up web grenade.(My coruptor has it but just has an ACC IO) In cases like the summer blockbuster I would just put it on auto and then De-buff/attack.

Basically its an status effect that causes them to run away. Unlike most status effects the one Caltrops/Acid Mortar use is a back-end thing that isn't really part of AV's (or any mob's) normal defenses. Nothing you can do but try to immobilize them or just deal with the running. Remember an AV that is running around is an AV that is not dealing damage.

On my trap/ar fender, I started noticing it when I was doing "Who will Die" when the mission was out. The Bad guy would run up to me, then jump into the lava, then swim around, then go back to attacking me. It annoyed me a little, but since the lava did damage back then I was mostly ok with him swimming about.

Now on the Summer mission, I just try to space my mortars so the AV gets hit at least once when he runs by when in the warehouse. Outside, I drop one near 'mid' range were they come in at and just wait when they run to the other side.

Just glad most teammates don't know about this, some might consider it worst then knock-back.

For AV's use web grenade. If you have any global recharge just stick an ACC io in it.

Or try what the masterminds do and use provoke.

Badguys don't like being in the area of traps debuffs, caltrops, acid mortar and Posion trap will all send them running. I understand when it's a LT, minion or even boss level, but AVs should not run like they do, they are supposed to be tough, they aren't supposed to be cowards...

Thanks, all. I'm glad it's not just me. I'll do a respec to give a little more love to Web Grenade, at least for while I'm leveling.

Odd because I just ran that summer thing with my AR Device. I did spam Web grenade but even when it wasn't active I had caltrops down and was using Ignite. The AVs didn't run and that is with Ignite on them as well. If anything they did move to come towards me because I pulled aggro.

Acid Mortar is the trigger for this behavior.
