  1. Doc Buzzsaw is much harder to unlock now after the xp curve smoothing. It requires the bling badge and I'm usually over level 30 before I get it. Before they changed the xp earned in the 20s I usually got it around level 27/28.

With the problem of fewer contacts in villains It makes more sense to unlock all the hidden contacts and allow us to play them as regular contacts instead. As someone stated earlier some of them require you to do things that take a lot longer to collect than the actual mission lengths of the contacts themselves. Most people aren't going to bother with the effort required particularly as it is so easy to outlevel the contact before you actually manage to unlock them.
  2. We've all done that at some point, but never twice

When I did it there was some unpleasant language and self flaggelation involved too!!
  3. I want to be played by John Barrowman. Initially i wanted it to be Vin Diesel but I think I'd prefer him to be my love interest
  4. I know people complain a lot about slow response times for GM support but I thought I'd just say a huge thanks to GM_Darren who was talking to me within 5 minutes of me petitioning a bugged mission and was extremely helpful and polite. My favourite used to be GM_Charles but I think there is a new contender for Favourite GM of the month

    Update:
the GMs were very prompt in dealing with the petition and after a couple of emails where I got them the info they asked, the character got the power awarded.
I didn't get the full details, i think that the levelling in between the 2 missions might have caused that, but i'm not sure... i'll keep that in mind for my other toons.

Reward aside, i'm pretty satisfied at how quick they handled the matter.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Nice to have a positive comment about the GMs for a change. Considering how hard they work we usually get moans about support not being helpful when in reality the happy people rarely comment, but the unhappy people complain a lot.
  6. I've seen GM_Charles a few times and he has always turned up as a police drone.

And unless its a recent change you can reply with backspace. In fact, when I first started and needed a GM to clear a bugged mission for me (in the old days before you had the drop mission function) I didn't know about backspace and the GM was very helpful telling me about the backspace reply function. If it hadn't been for him I'd probably still be trying to type the full name out every time I wanted to say something privately. Now all i need to do is remember to actually press the button properly before complaining to a team mate about how rubbish the tank is
  7. On vidiotmaps.com there is a useful little download where you get a map overlay with all the badges, plaques and enemy ranges. It is harmless and just adds extra details to the map when you call it up. In conjunction with /loc and the coordinates it is really helpful as some of the badges are up high, down low or inside things. Ones I had trouble with were the easter egg in faultline and one in Dark Astoria.

Like I said, its only fire/kin controllers and fire/psi dominators I'm never playing. Everything else I'd give a try till it either bores me or I enjoy it.

Btw, I use a Spines/WP scrapper to farm in case you were thinking of rolling one

    [/ QUOTE ]

I wish my spines/invul scrapper was /wp. Invulnerability is [censored].

    [/ QUOTE ]

As the others have stated, play what you fancy and you will have fun or you will delete it for not being what yuo want.

I have a WP scrapper and it was quite odd. Some traditionally difficult enemies like carnies and psychic clockwork are absolutely no threat whatsoever and others are so tough it is death by white minion. I've never tried invul as a scrapper, but on a tank it is quite good. I find it very consistant rather than the variability of WP but it is a personal choice. I love being in a team with kins but hate playing them myself.

Just put something in your search comment about not interested in farming missions then you have every right to tell them to politely sod off if you get requests. If you don't have anything down then you can't blame farmers for looking for the ATs that they want for their missions.

I honestly don't think it matters what your power sets are. I get very nice polite tells on most of my alts asking if I'm interested in joining a farming team quite often. The response I give depends on the politeness of the person doing the asking. Whilst I'm not into farming for the sole reason that I get bored with the same mish over and over, I actually find farmers are a lot more polite and respectful than a lot of pugs. I would much rather someone asked nicely "Hi, are you interested in joining a level x farming team" than a lot of the "U LFT?" that I get a lot. One is informative and polite and gives me the option to make an informed choice, the other (whilst not meaning to) comes across as rude and uninformative.

At the end of the day we all pay our subs and play the game the way we want to. I had an amusing argument the other day from someone who couldn't understand why I like to play an online game solo. Thats my choice. I do team, but not always. I pay my subs and expect others to respect my choices.

Pick the powers you want to and hang the rest. If it is fatm or the silliest build possible the choice is yours. Don't let others dictate to you the "proper" way to play this game. As long as you are having fun then nothing else matters.

Thanks Luke, had noticed the level 50s had started to become less helpful. Will give the lower levels a try tonight.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Every time I've needed a level 50 to come help me smack an annoying EB into paste I've always had a positive helpful response

Just done the Westin phipps story arcs reading each mission with care.

    http://cityofheroes.wikia.com/wiki/Westin_Phipps

I have to say, I've never felt so guilty in my life over a game, All-be it I'm not a decent person, I laugh at things I shouldn't and rarely do nice things, but I actually felt very guilty about this

    [/ QUOTE ]

Those are just sick and disgusting, which is why I could never play CoV - I know it's only a game, but games are meant to be fun, and for me, that's totally the opposite of fun.

    [/ QUOTE ]

She was saying the story was sick and disgusting not the people who play it and I agree with her. it doesn't stop me doing the arcs as my bad guys tend to be bad guys, but I know several people who avoid both westin and peter themari because it doesn't fit their character concept or just find them very disturbing.

The thing about villains as opposed to heroes is it gives you a very different slant on playing a game. I sometimes get bored with the cloying niceness of doing good all the time and move over to the bad side and it is nice to see that the devs haven't shied away from doing arcs with the real scum of the earth. The only thing I think it needs is a little disclaimer when you meet the characters saying that they are going to ask the character to do some truly dreadful and twisted things to give people a heads up.

And for heavens sake please stop the GG bashing whenever she says more than 3 words and a smiley. We have all phrased things in such a way that we could be misread occasionally and the rest of us get the benefit of the doubt. I have met her in game and couldn't wish for a more friendly helpful player. I just wish there were more like her about.

    Opinions please

I've reported the odd name that was obviously copyrighted such as hulk/wolverine/superman etc rip offs and a couple i personally found really offensive but not names that could be interpreted in different ways. Sometimes a name is so obscure that it is just nice to see that someone shares my abominable taste in literature and I leave it. I have even petitioned myself a couple of times just to make sure that the name I'm using is obscure enough that it won't cause a problem.

If someone is being blatant about their name and/or costume then they deserve to wake up one day and find themselves called Generichero19476

As for healing aura, sometimes it can be quicker to have it on auto than keep reaching for the button. It leaves you free to target heals and buffs whilst standing next to the main damage dealer. But I agree with you that people should turn it off outside of combat.
  12. But still a big thanks to the OP for bringing it to our attention so we could get clarification. Better to get it sorted now than have potential screaming later

    Gun Drone

Not tried those two. I am so used to Enforcer being an AR/dev blaster that it was a bit of a shock to find that gun drone was a lot more useful now. I keep forgetting that its the secondary pool

    Gun Drone

It would be nice if it was ok. Good would be better, but I'll settle for ok

I think it needs to be altered to match other tier 9 pets. it is a very nice thing having floating behind you, but it won't go up lifts and explodes after a couple of minutes. If it was made to last longer or even permanent till destroyed it would be a lot more useful. saying that, it is still far better than auto turret. Maybe give it better damage along the lines of other tier 9 pets. As it stands, when you get it, it is a bit underwhelming. Other blasters get nova, we get a 2 minute floating pet.
  16. gratz mate, i hit my 6th today and still remember how exciting it was
  17. didin't see either of you to say happy cake day, so I'd like to say it now. Two of the nicest players in the game and always a delight to play with. So to both of you, Happy cake day and a merry christmas.
  18. I have no idea what person or SG you lot are referring to. I must just be lucky.

We had a problem person in the Storm Warriors for a while who started off being a great player, but it turned out he was just being on his best behaviour. He kept going on about raids and abusing other SG members and the coalition got really annoyed about all the nasty spamming in coalition chat. I had to kick all his alts after numerous complaints from the leaders of the SGs in coalition with us as I value them as friends much more than I did his company. It's amazing how one person can alter the social dynamic so drastically. As an SG leader the buck stops with me. I really hate kicking people and feel guilty about doing it, but if I don't do it, who will?
  19. Kicking people who haven't logged in for three days? Thats insane. Don't these people work or have any sort of life? All you need is to go on a week or a fortnights holiday and suddenly you have no SG. I'm an altoholic and sometimes don't play a particular toon for weeks. I get bored with one, so swap to another for a while. Bored with heroes? I pop to villains. I think I'd garrotte someone for kicking me because I hadn't logged on for a few days.
  20. With a little bit of fudging its possible to get a functioning base with 2 teleports. We have recently started a new SG and have maxed it out with the combo units abilities.

Bear in mind that this is how we worked, others might do it differently.

Firstly create a salvage store and a basic workbench. Make 2 teleports from the salvage then delete the basic workbench.

Now you have everything you need as a starter base. Build a small tp room and place your shiny new teleports. Go round the 4 areas you are most interested in and get the beacons. (Find all the zone badges whilst in SG mode). Place your beacons. Place the smallest and cheapest workshop and put in a vault store and one invention crafting bench. At this point you are at the limit of power and control, but you have teleport to 4 areas and the ability to craft your inventions.

Unfortunately you are now stuck until you earn another 500k-1 million prestige, but it should tide you over for now. You can make the base look quite pretty just by altering things like style and colour, but try to avoid the urge to go mad with the decorating as it wastes prestige and will be deleted anyway as soon as you get enough to buy the next sets of rooms that you need. The annoying thing is that in heroes you need 10 teleporters to get access to all available areas and on villains you only need 4.

You can also get away without upgrading the plot if you are a small SG and can't afford the rent. You won't be able to put in decorative rooms like meeting rooms etc but it is quite easy to make your base fit nicely with the smallest of everything. And with the right amount of decorative items you can look really pretty
  21. 2 very good guides which I found to be very helpful in deciding what to take and how to slot. thank you very much
  22. Thats great, thanks for the info. I was planning to take them for later on and its nice to see that they have full effects. You've been a great help
  23. Recently started a claws/regen scrapper and am really enjoying it. My question is, should I take fitness pool or is there a cap that makes it redundant with the regen set? I usually take health and stamina on my other toons but I don't want to take them if it is going to be a waste of 2 powers.
  24. thanks elly. Martins doing a good job keeping elentil warm for you
  25. Thank you to everyone who helped me get Black Nemesis to 50, especially London-smurfy and Pamela Andersmurf.

That makes 4 50s now!!! Yay me!!
