hehe yeah that is one thing I loved about old cartoons like GI: Joe and G1 Transformers...

You think that's a car exhaust? NO, it's a gun! You think those are just eyes?! NO, it's a gun!

My guns have guns! heh....good times.
  2. Yeah back a few years ago I was at Best Buy looking for Beast Wars Transformers DVD series.

I found them but then I saw the original Transformers DVDs (all seasons 1-4). My best friend was with me and was like, "get them all!"

So..after hesitating, I got all G1 DVDs and all of the Beast Wars DVDs.

I then called my brother up and was like, "I just got all of the G1 Transformer DVDs, aren't you jealous?!"

    Bro: "uh, no."
me: "why not? I thought we enjoyed watching the shows when we were growing up?"
    bro: "yeah...but no..."

So I watched all of the G1 series and wow....it was painful. It really was a show to sell toys. Only a few good one-off episodes...the only other good episodes were usually the ones that had a story (ie. it was continued).

Beast Wars = best transformers series I think

I can see it in a way.

Passives are just that passive...they are "who you are" as a character. Superman can't turn off his invincible-ness (yes, yes, kryptonite and all that)...so in that sense I can see why passives should be stronger than toggles.

Toggles are something you "add on" to the character I guess. *shrugs*

I thought we players were in for a lot of trouble when Scrapyarders were introduced in the game. They don't stay clumped up. They run off in different directions and circle back on you. So, basically, they don't just stand there and take it, nor do they become perma-runners.

But for some odd reason, only a very few of the ranged critters since I6 got that AI code; and certainly not a whole faction like the Scrapyarders.

I hated Scrapyarders because of all their AoE burn patches! Ninja MMs need not apply!

sheesh they killed my ninjas quiiiiick!

It makes more sense to run thirty feet and then turn and start shooting again.
    ....

    It makes total sense!

I mean when, in the game, you taunt you're basically calling the mob names and what not right?

Well if the mob is at range and gets taunted, he's not running up to attack in melee range, he's running up to you to ask you, "what did you say?" Sometimes mobs can't hear from taunt's range.

The goal is to give them tendencies that can be influenced by circumstance, not rules to follow.

I'm no programmer in any sense (unless you call making a few html pages with notepad back in the day! ) but I still see it as something that's limited.

Until AI can think on its own then AI will be 'easy' (unless you're just giving them cheats like auto one-hit kill attacks).

Then again when AI can think on its own...the "game" us humans will be playing is "stay alive"!

    MSRs and stuff

Just been busy lately with lots of dr appts getting ready for my jaw surgery next week! That and I've been playing Borderlands for the first time when I get home some nights

But hopefully I'll be having a good 2+ weeks of CoH (gaming) time while I heal up from my surgery!

    ....

I've always wished when CoV released they did something like this.

Its something I've put a lot of thought into. Whatever else they had me working on, this is what I'd be working on all of the rest of the time. My metric for success here is when multiple players posted on the forums "I've wanted the critters to be smarter for years, but not *that* smart."
    ...

With all those "if" statements that the mobs would have to go through it'd crash the servers!

    Mob AI:

Attack hero if hero is seen/or is attacked by hero
if support (defender, controller, corruptor, etc) near-by, attack him first unless taunted by Tanker unless use "taunt break free" inspiration to continue to attack support toon
if being debuffed (RI, etc...), run away unless taunted unless debuffs get too much, run away.
if out-manned by more than 2, call for re-inforcements, hide behind nearest object

Tons more to think of but...yeah...it'll be interesting how future MMOs work

I'm all for smarter AI but at some point...it is just a script and will get "routine" after a while.

You make ALOT of awesome stories, well I think boosts from reviews could happen.

Why not just create a filter (or another category) for "farms"? That way people who create "farms" can just mark it as such so that you (and others) can just search for non-"farms"?

And if the creator makes a "farm" that isn't marked as a "farm" then sure some sort of punishment could happen.

Most PvP wouldn't involve your characters at all. Maybe your character models, but not your literal powersets, enhancements, etc. I would have almost all PvP work kind of like gladiator matches do now. You pick predefined and extremely balanced avatars to be your character in a PvP zone or arena match. For example, you could pick Generic Blaster A to be your avatar. Generic Blaster A has a specific powerset and enhancement profile. It could have your costume to wear so it looks like you but isn't literally you. (Well, "literally" in the sense of your in-game character.) Someone else who picks Generic Blaster A would have the exact same build-out as you. If they pick Generic Blaster B, they would have a different build-out, but they didn't get to pick the exact powersets or enhancements that are slotted for it, and it would be guaranteed to be comparable to your build-out so that both players start on an even play field.
    ...

I've always said that when i13 launched they shouldn't have done the PvP changes that they did.

The issue with PvP to me was that you "had to have" certain powers/a certain build to even think of being competitive. Well they did 1 thing right in i13; multiple builds for a toon. With that I could have made a PvE build and a PvP build.

But with all the pvp changes and what not, meh...not worth it. I really dislike the kite-pvp that is CoH it seems. I even tried it out (year or two ago now) with some people on the test server where everyone could be have an awesome build....still people with SS/SJ, etc just jumping around and following x target. Meh...just not for me.

So after all of that, yes I like your idea; that's why I enjoy FPS games like Quake, Unreal Tournament, etc...everyone has x health, armor, etc...everyone has the same chance to get the x gun that always does y damage.

*then again I'm a sniper at heart so maybe that's why I don't like CoH pvp...no *BOOM* HEADSHOT! *
  12. Very cool I'm glad Polar Lights are at the top for AoE goodness!

I can now point people to this if they laugh at my Polar Lights' pets...(they all said, "lulz" to them before )

    Edit:

Oh and yes, ty for the time it took to do this!

Plus I ran enough iTrials beyond that to get six Catalyst drops for this character's set of ATEs. (I did solo in DA some also, but didn't get a Catalyst there until after I was "done" with this character.)

You probably don't want to see her Incarnate Salvage tab.

    What?! No Incandescence Destiny?!

Yeah, if I only played 1 toon I'd have that many astrals/emps on my main EI.

Although EI does have 2 t4 destinies (rebirth and clarion).

Too many toons to just stockpile emps/astrals on one toon!

This x a million. The chance to hold proc is just awesome.

Plus usually the team doesn't need the mobs to be flopping around to be "safe", they die fast enough.

    "Easy" way to solve this:

Install Firefox and then install the NoScript add-on. I've never had ads when watching Ustream; just enable/allow the main site (ustream.com I think it is) and you'll get the stream but no ads

    Rad armor-

Sbield 2- fire, cold, neg resist (neg may be moved to the auto power...)
Shield 3- mez and psi resist
    auto regen/end recovery
    Click absorb power
    Taunt aura, foe minus damage
    Click foe -HP self heal
    Self nuke attack
T9 meltdown mode ending with self destruct

The Click Asorb needs enemies in range I believe- and from what I remember Synapse saying, he always add a +Regen effect to the absorb mechanic because just adding HP is a bit too squishy.. IE your real HP heal faster while the absorb "shield" is getting smashed.

Wait, you were there and you didn't let me know! (no I wasn't there) Man, first FlagrantFowl did it last year and now you!

Exactly! If someone cares about the RP aspect then let them figure their own way of how it can be done.
