Mmm, hooray for another double XP weekend!
I just hope I get to enjoy it! That weekend is the middle of the month which means "restores" on our servers here (ie. me doing work)....so hopefully my co-worker will be able to do it that weekend! -

One thing I think players need to realise is that powers customisation is at least three different things:
1) Weapon Model Customisation: so that your Katana Scrapper can choose what their Katana looks like (or even if it is a katana). The power function is the same, but the weapon model is different. Since I don't have to do the work, this is probably the easiest form of customisation to implement, but also the one with the smallest reach (because not all powersets have weapon models).
2) Power colours customisation: as discussed by BAB. Make your powers all the colours of the rainbow (and my retinas die a little thinking of the possibilities...).
3) Power animation customisation: also as discussed a bit by BAB. Players can choose the animation that goes with the activation of their power. The widest reaching of all the customisations and one that opens up the most worms.
I can see a lot of problems with colour and animation customisation. Ignoring the difficulty of actually implementing the change, it would change how players interact with each other when suddenly the established visual cues of how powers work were thrown out the window. Someone already mentioned how recoloured heals would be confusing, but it could also lead to some fairly ridiculous things happening to some powers eg auras / shields (I can easily imagine the flourescent pink Dark / Dark character - "Look mommy, a walking ball of cotton candy!").
On top of that, there would soon be the 'best' animations for each powers - people would pick the one that rooted for the shortest time, for instance.
So, popular as it might be in some circles, full power customisation is a huge step with a lot of ramifications. For the record, I don't think powers customisation is going to attract new players - CoH/V already has a character customisation system that is seen as best in MMOG genre, so adding more options to it isn't going to attract more people solely on the ground that they can customise their character further.

I'd definitely like to see # 1 happen. I mean the main reason why I've never made an AR Blaster/Corruptor is because of the gun. -

Am I the only one who chuckles everytime someone asks for 'endgame content for 50s'?
[/ QUOTE ]
Nope -
Oooh, 2 posts by BAB in my topic
Anyways, like Angello said, I'd actually like just having the ability to change the color(s)/hue(s) of a power. Now I know maybe that wouldn't be the bestest thing ever but...it would be neat/cool to have Hasten be a light green color like Radiation Blast set, or to have Dark Blast be colored red or just a pre-select number of colors.
That's just me though... -

Ok, I tried to skim though this and I have to admit I got a little confused.
If someone can bottomline this for me, I would be helpful:
What program can be used to make "COX-style" models and animations and that could possibly imported to Cryptic themselves?
[/ QUOTE ]
None at the moment.
The CrypticAR is (I'm guessing) mostly used for Marvel Universe Online; however, Back Alley Brawler said that if the community did something really awesome there might be a way for the devs to translate what was done in CrypticAR to CoH/CoV. -
I'd just like to say, I got a dev to post in a topic that I started :P woohoo
It was one of my lifelong dreams...now I can get defeated/get debt happily
Oh and I was kinda expecting that this tool was pretty much for MUO only -
'Tis true that it does require 3DS but was interesting nonetheless.
So how about it Cryptic? For the 39 month vet. reward, give all of us vets. a free licensed copy of 3DS? -
So I went to kotaku (bored at work) and saw this interesting article:
So it looks like the animation team (at least for MUO?) will have their own forums...located here ....Will Sexy Jay be posting there I wonder? mmm..
Sorry if this may be a double post -
Yes screenshots from the game...people like me have a shot at it

Has this guide been reworked for Issue 8 or 9? I'm trying to build it now and enjoying it.
Irradiate does generate an enormous amount of aggro, but if a tank does its aggro grabbing first, Irradiate is a good defense debuff over the area. Helping yours and your teammates attack hit. So I still like it. Irradiate is one of the best Defense debuffs of Radiation Blast set.

To answer your question no it hasn't been updated...I've been too lazy to update it :/ -

Yes, I'm still around...
NCSoft (the publisher) and Cryptic Studios (the developer) are still firmly behind City of Heroes. It isn't going anywhere. NCSoft continues to fund a fantastic live team with lots of great stuff to come.
Yes, Cryptic is working on other products. These are different games with different financial backers. We plan on supporting multiple games in the same way that other great developers do.

*raises hand* me too, please?
Honestly, I think we should get first dibs on the MUO Beta Testing. We're basically the pioneers.

Rumor has it that for the 4th year vet. reward you'll get a MUO beta invitation....
You heard it from me first -

I was under the impression they were absolutely necessary for the LRSF.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well when I ran the LRSF a week or so ago we beat the final mission and although a teammate and I did use a Shivan we didn't need it...just did more damage for us/mission was over with faster. Now that the heroes are lvl 53 there isn't a huge need for Shivans as much...sure they're nice but not "needed". -
Uh not that hard to top...
In a team on Saturday (team of 4) I/we killed Lord Recluse (Arch-Villain) and I got 418k xp from him....one person one lvl above me got 480k from him.
And during the last double xp weekend my char. got 600k or 700k from LR. -
I picked costumes but I would have really picked Powers if that were an option.
I love powers and love testing out and using all new powers....good stuff! -

Reading this thread brings back some memories. The hunting teams in Perez, watching the entire zone show up to beat on the poor old level 15 was it? Kraken. There actually being people in KR and Boom. Running around Atlas wondering why there were so many level 50 Fire/Dev blasters and what made them so damn uber(I joined after the Smoke Grenade fix) and peeking into scary, scary places like Brickstown at level 15. I really miss the sense of wonder I had at the time. Hearing zone names like Steel Canyon, Indepence Port and Talos Island and trying to imagine what I would find there once I was actually high enough. Going into a hazard zone for the first time and seeing the absolutely HUGE spawns. Being a level 24 invul/SS tank and doing the Sister Psych TF. Seeing the mass of level 28 Freaks in the first mission, taking a deep breath and diving in, and then walking out.
Hey who was that guy that had a TF tied to Psych? The one that dealt with that crazy Malaise? I miss that TF. Damn, doing the Positron TF for the first time and calling the devs every sort of name I could think of throughout it, and then finishing it with only 3 people at some ungodly hour. As I'm typing this I see the old manual sitting on my desk. If you still have yours crack it open and give it a read. Some great stuff in there that reminds just how much this game has changed, and how much in the manual was wrong even back then. I suppose the one thing I miss the most about the good old days was the newness of it all, getting and using new powers, watching high levels obliterate some wayward ambush and craving that power. Now, well, maybe it's time for a break. After a little over two years the shine has worn off a bit. I still love the game, but damn what I wouldn't do to get that new MMO smell again.

Good times man
Edit: Heck, I remember seeing someone using Tornado and Lightning Storm for the first time and I was like, "MUST HAVE!"...and well..now I have my lvl 50 Storm/Psy. Defender
I remember taking down the Kraken in Perez by myself with my Kin/Rad...I was just in Perez one day and never heard about the Kraken and saw the big monster and was like, "oooo"...took him down (he was blue conned to me I think)....took screenshots and still have those pictures as well...
I really do miss teaming with lots of people in Perez...never really did Faultline that much though...Boomtown yes, Faultline I did once I think. -
I can't wait for more stuff
Edit: Curses TheJack beat me to the first post
Keep up the good work guys...I'm excited about the Veteran Rewards...and almost has my roommate convinced of coming back for trenchcoats/other reasons -
As I have said before in one of the other threads I've noticed the same for my SS/Stone Armor brute. She was around lvl 37 (or 38) when I started to notice the end. change...
Recalling one quick event...I was in a mission and my fury bar was about 1/2 full and my end. bar was full (I think I used blue inspirations) and I targetted a foe around a corner and I hit 'tp foe' but I accidentally moved so that cancelled it out and I used tp foe again and this time the mob got tp'ed to me and I used KO Blow and then one other attack (I think Haymaker) and I was pretty much out of endurance after that one minion (probably either yellow or orange conned to me...don't remember).
I'll try to keep a more detailed log/description but...something is funky. -

I can't remember who said it but I thought that the current medium graphic settings is what used to be high. So you're really not downgraded on your graphic options, just the ceiling is now much highter.
[/ QUOTE ]
Mmm...that'd be interesting to know if it's true or not.
Even if it isn't totally true...I can make myself believe it is and therefore be a little bit happierThanks
-
I'll agree with some of these sentiments about lag/FPS quality.
I know that I used to have my graphic settings at "High" or "very high"...but now...I'm at "medium" for most things and I've even turned off the frivolous stuff like the water effects, shadows, etc...
It's really kinda saddening...I'm not sure what happened but it stinks to lower my graphical settings down.
I know I can bump it up and usually am okay but if I team with a /thermal I have to turn down the graphics...just something with that powerset that makes my PC do lots of sound loops and just graphical lag spikes. -
Sad to see ya go CuppaJo
Thanks for all the quick replies to my PMs
