Welcome to the both of you two

Quote:I've played AC2 where they had rain in different zones (or snow)....sure it's pretty (graphically and audibly); but...after like the first one or two times....what's the point? It doesn't slow you down, doesn't make you faster, doesn't do a -tohit debuff or anything else...it's just there....If it ever comes to CoH 2, I'll be happy if the engine will permit weather and seasons in the game. I recently left WoW. Say what you will of that game, I was impressed with the various levels of rainstorms, particularly the driving deluge of a rainstorm we in the South call a "gully washer". I could see a showdown on the streets of Steel Canyon in the driving rain...at night time...surrounded by enemies. (Ok, now that I think of it, that sounds like The Maxtrix 3, but fun nonetheless)
And we're in Rhode Island, so adding snow storms would fit perfectly.
As far as a sequel, I have a feeling they might be working on a sequel...but...I kind of hope that they aren't. Like someone said earlier, it would most likely just divide the userbase since some would want to keep their COH chars. and others would want the new 'shiny'. -
Quote:One of the things that turn me away from a game is micro-transactions. I don't like feeling like in order to have everything the game has to offer, that I have to spend more than the subscription.
On another page, I have noticed how the game has become effortless, one of the things that were really a challenge was getting around, now you can just open up an O-Portal or use a power and you're where you want to be, don't even need a travel power any more.
While I agree with you in that I don't necessarily like micro-transactions....I do not agree with you on your second point (to a degree).
I'd love it if the Ouro portal would allow access to every zone and not just the 5 we have now (and/or the mission tp power recharged every 10 mins.).
CoV content isn't bad/isn't the reason for me wanting that ability. It is all the old CoH content that makes you go from FF to AP to Dark Astoria to PI to Crey's Folly to Steel Canyon to AP to Perez, etc...etc...etc....that gets really annoying. Only point to that type of travel is a time sink (and for possibly "exploring" the city...but after a month or two you've 'seen it all'). -
Once we get the 'clone yourself' power like what Dr. Aeon has, everything will be solo-able!

Quote:Confuse can be enormously more handy in many situations. Confusing Sky Raider Engineers is pure win -- they aggro on their companions, then set up force field generators... that buff you instead of them, then start shooting up their companions. And when you finish them off, you can whack the FFG for progress toward the badge for defeating 100 of them. Almost as much fun as confusing Rikti Guardians so they SB and heal you while you're attacking the rest of the spawn. Unfortunately, Rikti portals appear to be hardcoded to summon hostile Rikti; you can't confuse a Communication Officer and have the portal they summon bring in Rikti that fight on your side.
Yeah I love confuse for those reasons. I've confused a few Rikti Guardians before and had like 6 or so of their bubbles on me at onceMmm...way past soft-cap defenses (to most things)

Quote:^ This....Thank you, Castle.
This is the kind of communication that I, as a player, have never ever gotten from any other development team of any other MMORPG that I have ever played.
This kind of openness and willingness to talk about things going on behind the scenes is refreshing, amazing, and very very very welcome. I dare say that it is practically unique among the industry, and it is the reason I consider City of Heroes to be the best MMORPG with the best community and the best development team ever.
Although if you want to say what is in GR beyond Demon Summoning and Dual Pistols then please, go ahead -
Well I'm usually available to help out as much as I can...the nights/days I'm usually not on are Sundays, Monday nights & Wednesdays.

-
Well on GR's site it mentions more free character slots....whether that means more than 36 or just more free slots is still unknown (as far as I know)....
I'd like to know as well -
I like the DP set and think that the devs did an awesome job with the set.
However I would like to see the set get some buffs/changes....here's what I'd like to see...
1.) Remove the 'twirl gun' sound/animation end part from the Empty Clips power and the Dual Pistols power. What I'm talking about here is that after you use the EC and DP powers, there is a .2 (maybe .5 or 1 second) second delay where you can hear the guns 'twirling' around and you can't attack until it's done. I never really noticed it but lately I have noticed it and it's a bit irksome.
2.) I would like to see Executioner's Shot sped up a little bit. Not asking for it to be 1 second total but...but maybe speed up a little bit?
3.) Buff Hail of Bullets. Either keep the 2 min recharge and buff the damage a bit or drop it to a 60 sec base recharge and keep the damage as it is. Would be 'great' if both were done to it (60 sec base recharge and dmg increased by a little bit).
4.) Make the cyro and chem. ammo more powerful. I'm not sure how this can be done but I really have noticed that I only use lethal and fire ammo. I'd say the ammo I use the least would be the chemical ammo...only use that when I am (or my team is) up against an AV/EB/Monster....which is not too often. I've used cryo ammo just for some CoT missions and against Nemesis bosses (although that's kind of rare too since I usually just stick with fire ammo for the added DoT). I don't know if they buffed the blaster versions of cryo/chem ammo so that the secondary effects were better if that'd help or not...I would say 'not'...but..*shrugs* Maybe make the cryo/chem. ammo do more than the 30% of the total dmg (let them do 40% of the dmg and lethal do the rest of it (60%))? *shrugs*
All this coming from a lvl 42 DP/MM Blaster which I am still enjoying. -
Quote:Ah okay, that's what I was expecting but wanted to make sure of! thanksHoB uses basically the same system as the extra DoTs in Fire except that the ticks are not set to stop checking after one misses. That means that even though it is 24 possible ticks of damage, there is only one actual attack roll and one possible proc chance... the 50% checks for each tick are just percentage rolls that cannot trigger a proc, not 24 separate attacks.
-
Just a quick question that maybe someone knows...
If I put a dmg proc IO in Hail of Bullets, does that proc have a chance to go off every 'tick'? I know in a normal dmg click power it just has 1 chance for the 16 (however many are near you) targets...but I was curious since HoB isn't like other click nukes since it has 12 (? not sure how many) separate ticks of damage. -
Quote:The new install defaults you into PvP mode. Not a bug but wanted to make note of it in case anyone else couldn't figure out where those random resistance values were coming from.
Thanks for the quick update. This program makes the game much more fun.
Ah thank you! I was wondering why my blaster had 40% resist to all when I haven't even put 1 slot in anything yet :P -
Quote:Just a side-note, I usually never read stories (especially radio ones)...although I guess I read some/most of the arcs since I've been here almost 6 years)....but in general...I don't read the stories (even when 2xp is not on).But if you are grabbing Radio missions and chugging them as fast as possible without any regard to their stories...
or if you are doing one arc after another for the XP and have no regard for the setting or scenery...
or if you are rapidly pounding out Task Forces and skipping the clues because they bog you down...
... and all of this is brought on by the lust for XP brought on by Double Experience weekend? It seems to me that it's the exact same mentality as farming and that differences are irrelevant semantics.
To clarify, I don't consider farming a bad thing, nor do I partake in it most of the time. Just food for thought that think farming is the anti-game. -
Quote:hehe, milk weasel mentioned one day (maybe he was teamed with you?) that you said 'clawsome' when you killed mobs and I guess I said, "I have that name!"bah, you are the one with that name. i've been spamming that when i get kills in SC on my claws/nin stalker. when someone gets mad at me for it, "clawlumad?"
I got it from a sisterhood person (forgot who gave me the name actually....have it in a log file somewhere probably -
Quote:I'd love to see CoH have some sort of "pay as you play" type of system. Whether you pay x amount for y hours or something. I know my boss at the first job I had was always busy and maybe had 1-4 hours a month to play a game or two. He loved playing games/MMOs (he was the one that got me into AC2 when it launchedThere was the usual influx of players during the weekend, magnified by the Reactivation event and double experience weekend. I had TF or leveling groups pretty much the entire weekend and heard some telling things over and over again:
"I'd love to come back, but I can't afford to."
I heard this personally in group chat or tells from three or four different players who'd left the game and came back for reactivation. I saw it repeated a few more times in broadcast or global channels. It hints at something that I've suspected for quite a while; the rough economy is having a very large effect on the number of people who WOULD be playing.
NCSoft financial people: Aren't quite a bit of your Asian sales from people who pay daily or per session in net cafes? If you can get some kind of pay-as-you-go plan in place for CoH, you might be able to catch some revenue you're currently missing because some North American folks simply can't justify or budget $15 a month.
It also means that as the economy is now in a 'starting to recover' phase, it's an ideal time to attract players who suddenly have a bit of disposable income they're not used to. It would seem especially important when there are newer games intent on carving away from CoH's playerbase.) but he never saw the justification for spending $15 a month when, like I said earlier, he'd play maybe 4 hours a month. If he could just use some other way of playing a MMO/game I'm sure he'd do it.
Quote:"Yeah, I played [competing game] for a while, but it really sucked. This reactivation weekend makes me realize what I was missing."
I heard this repeated at least once an hour as the inevitable end to the conversation that began, "Well, I switched to [competing game]..." The only time that players were in any way positive about those other games was when they were describing features that were also strong CoH features, such as a certain other superhero game's character creator. Even then, it was usually in the context of "But it was ripped off from CoH."
This illustrates an important facet of the 'City of' franchise's customer loyalty. The game trades heavily on its quality and featureset maturity. This will be an important subject to keep in mind as the game continues to age, especially when integrating new features into it. If the quality of the game degrades significantly for any given reason, it could have a larger effect than you might initially think.
Quote:"So what are people doing for exp these days? Are they still farming AE?"
"Only Dev Choice Missions work with DXP this time around."
"Really? Okay, I'll do those."
or
"Really? I'll just do regular missions then."
I heard this quite a few times in the course of the weekend from returnees. Current players griping about the most recent AE exploit plugs were over their tantrums by the time DXP started (or had moved on to another exploit). There was little or no whining or moaning about having to do Dev Choice missions to get DXP. The choice between regular missions and Dev Choice was a non-issue in every chat venue I monitored.
Edit: It was also really awesome just to see/hear all the people that were back playing (even if only for the weekend) CoH. Almost every time I logged in I got in a team within a few minutes (with sgmates/coalition peeps and not just pugs)...man that's nice. -
Pretty good weekend for me:
Shadow's Revenant, lvl 11 (or 12) DP/MM Blaster to lvl 42: So 31 or so lvls
Clawsome, lvl 28 Claws/SR Brute to lvl 30: 2 lvls
Groombridge 34, lvl 49 Gravity/Thermal Controller to lvl 50: .5 lvls (only did 1 paper mission to get him there)
So about 33/34 lvls this weekend. Was nice -
Friday night would probably be the best night for me, followed by Saturday night.
Sundays are never good for me (usually) but could try to make it if need be. -
